"Named after a portmanteau of the two chefs’ first names, this neighbourhood joint uses fine artisanal ingredients from Italy to craft Italian favourites, ranging from homemade pasta to seafood and meat dishes, best enjoyed with their selection of Italian wines. Black truffle chitarrino with Pienza pecorino is guaranteed to melt your heart with its al dente texture and tantalising aroma. The eater-friendly prices also explain its popularity despite its hidden location down an alley." - Michelin Inspector

LucAle in Hong Kong is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, the staff impressed us with their friendliness and professionalism — attentive without being intrusive, and clearly very experienced. We started with the Tonno Fresco Siciliano, Cremoso di Avocado, Sala di Soia e Limoni della Costiera — this was a true highlight, bursting with freshness and balance. The Polpo, Agrumi, Olive “Taggiasche”, Pomodori Confit e Songino was another standout appetizer, beautifully plated and full of vibrant flavors. For mains, the handmade Scialatielli in Salsa Di Aglio Nero, Seppioline Italiane, Salsa Al Nero Di Seppia was rich and perfectly cooked, while the Filetto Di Merluzzo in Crosta Di Basilico, Purea Di Melanzane Gratinate, Salsa Di Provola Affumicata was simply excellent — delicate yet deeply satisfying. And just when we thought the evening couldn’t get better, the tiramisu arrived in a very special style. A delightful surprise and the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal. LucAle combines authentic Italian creativity with impeccable service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a refined dining experience in Hong Kong!

We were warmly greeted by friendly staff and enjoyed an exceptional meal. Each dish was expertly prepared, bursting with rich, savory flavors. The pastas were perfectly al dente, and the steak (O.P. beef rib), with its deep, meaty taste, was ideal for sharing among 5-6 people. However, the potato side dish fell short, lacking crispness and seasoning. Improved ventilation in the inner dining area would enhance the experience, as it was a little stuffy, and that area would occasionally have slightly weird smells. Overall, this restaurant is well worth a visit, especially with a group to explore more of the delightful menu. I would save this place for a special occasion, because the price point is not cheap, approximately $800 per head without alcohol, but well over $1000 per head if you order alcohol as well.

We had a lovely girls dinner here at Lucale! The food was flavourful and well cooked and the texture of the pasta was perfect. The carbonara ravioli is a must try along with the tiramisu. Best tiramisu in HK! Great staff and friendly service!

My second visit here after a few years! The food is great but I would say it is still a little on the expensive side (spent $500 per person for a party of three). We enjoyed the boxed pasta (their tagliolini pasta with lobster that comes in a paper box) and the octopus salad, with the octopus in bite-sized chunks that go quite well with the grapefruit and various citrus. The cod was also enjoyable. Do note there is a cake cutting charge of $150 and also no option for tap water.

Any food on the menu is good — it’s like they’ve mastered the art of making you feel fancy without breaking the bank. Signature dish like the black cod with Japanese pepper? Absolutely top-notch, like a polite kick in the taste buds. And the chef? Properly capable, even when the place is busier than the Tube at rush hour with all takeaway orders.

This Italian restaurant is absolutely amazing and truly authentic! I’ve heard about it for years and finally had the chance to try it. The seating is very spacious and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about their authentic Italian ingredients. The Burrata cheese with ham was my favorite—so fresh and flavorful. The seafood pasta lived up to its reputation as the perfect signature dish, though I found the squid ink pasta a bit too salty and sour for my taste. The dessert with tropical egg was on another level—light, refreshing, and the perfect finish to the meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a genuine Italian dining experience!

On Saturday night, while enjoying our meal, I exclaimed to my friends, “This is the best piece of fish I’ve had in Hong Kong!” It truly was some of the finest Italian food available in the city. I’ve found my new secret hideaway!
