⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ Great Coffee Spot — A Bit Hard to Spot, But Worth It Luce Ave Coffee Roasters is a hidden gem — literally! The sign is a little hard to see, so keep your eyes peeled, but once you’re inside, it’s a cozy and welcoming little café. I had a cortado and it was delicious — smooth, balanced, and well-prepared. The almond croissant had great flavor, though the pastry was a bit tough. I think warming it up made it drier than it should’ve been — I’ll definitely skip that step next time. It’s a nice small space to relax or get some work done. One of the bathrooms was out of order during my visit, but overall a good experience. I’ll be back for the coffee for sure!

If you want a great drink and want to be in and out, this is definitely a nice place to stop by. They have true espresso machines which can deliver true dark brew. I had a coffee styled frappe kind of drink and my wife and I couldn't stop sipping it!!

Google
Cute coffee shop with a clean vibe and friendly staff. I tried the Black Forest (matcha + charcoal) but was disappointed — the matcha is pre-mixed with sugar, so it was overly sweet and lacked real matcha flavor. My sister had the Luce Bloom and a brisket taco; she liked the taco but thought the latte was too sweet with too much lavender. Nice spot to hang out, but not ideal if you're particular about matcha or sweetness levels.

Google
The employees are so kind and consistent with drink quality! It doesn’t matter who is making my drink it ALWAYS tastes the same! Service is always very quick even when there is a long line. Their pastry selections are my favorite of any coffee shop- the fruit danishes! My go to is the iced Spanish Latte half sweet with regular milk! But you can’t go wrong with their vanilla lattes- hot or iced. Lots of friends love their cream americano and island latte as well.

This is my second visit to Luce Coffee Roasters. My first experience was great, the staff was friendly and the coffee left a good impression, which made me want to return for another try. This time I ordered the Island Latte, the subtle smokiness from the charcoal adds an interesting depth to the drink. The quality of the coffee itself remains solid. However, the service this time was disappointing. The cashier was noticeably warmer and more attentive to the customer in front of me, but when it was my turn to order, her tone and attitude changed. It’s unfortunate to see such inconsistency in customer service, as it can really impact the overall experience. While the drinks here are innovative and worth trying, I hope the staff can maintain a welcoming attitude for all customers. Good coffee should be paired with good service.

Google
Such wonderful coffee. We had an iced latte and a hot latte. Both were super delicious with zero bitterness. I’d have to say if I had to choose, the iced latte was slightly better. But in either case, you can’t go wrong.

Great coffee shop to work from! Although, it’s small, there are places to sit with plugs and the WiFi is good! My tea, croissant and muffin were pretty good.

My boyfriend and I came here on Valentine's Day and It's so cute! A very comfortable seated place. I have horrible anxiety but the music and vibes really soothed it. They were quick and polite. I ordered the matcha latte with regular milk and the woman notified me that matcha is really sweet. I personally like sweet but it's still nice to know what I'm getting. I highly recommend

Yelp
This was my first visit to this location! I've been to the Pearland one. This complex can get full with parking but it wasn't too bad for a weekday around 11 am. I like the cozy & chic coffee vibe with the world map mural! There was a consistent line of customers. The staff were welcoming and quick to make my drink order. I picked up a gift card and a bag of their house blend Pan Pacificopeia as a gift for my sis-in-law who always stops by this location when visiting Htown. I really like iced Black Island! It isn't sweet but easily still taste the Pandan! I definitely recommend!

Yelp
Very yummy iced coffee concoctions! I love that their drinks are unique and carefully curated. I do think it takes a few tries to find your type of drink here, but once you do you'll be hooked! My favorite is the iced island latte- vanilla and coconut. The flavor is almost nutty, and compliments the coffee perfectly without being too sweet.

Yelp
I stopped by Luce Coffee Roasters with my sister while visiting Houston-- it's a really cute shop with clean decor, friendly staff, and bathrooms that were clean. Their Black Label menu immediately caught my eye. As a matcha lover (and admittedly a bit of a matcha snob), I was excited to try something different and went with the Black Forest -- a matcha and charcoal combo that sounded promising. I asked about sweetness levels since I'm not a fan of overly sweet drinks, and was told the matcha is pre-mixed with sugar, so making it less sweet would mean using less matcha. At that point, I had a feeling it wouldn't be for me, but I committed anyway. Unfortunately, the drink was exactly what I was hoping to avoid -- beautifully presented, but overwhelmingly sweet and lacking that signature matcha flavor. My sister ordered the Luce Bloom (a honey lavender oat milk latte) and a brisket taco. She loved the taco but said her drink had way too much lavender and was also too sweet for her taste. Overall, Luce is a cool spot to try if you're in the area -- the vibe is welcoming and the space is cute -- but I wouldn't come here for a high-quality matcha experience. I might return to try something else (I saw some herbal teas on the menu) , but next time, I'll definitely steer clear of the matcha.

Yelp
Small coffee shop with great coffee, great parking and friendly staff. Went on a Sunday at about 845 and wasn't very busy, plenty of tables inside and a few outside. We tried the almond croissant and bacon, egg, cheese Danish (both were fine, not amazing but not bad). I got a flat white and husband tried the drip coffee. Their drip coffee was delicious! A little citrusy and smelled a bit like Jasmine tea! We'd visit again.

Yelp
Had a nice visit to Luce recently and was really happy with the new drink I tried. I got their Spanish latte which as I was told is their take on a Vietnamese latte and it's very strong and sweet. Which is perfect for me! It was so good I drank it way too fast. They have very kind employees and it looked generally clean! There was not a ton of seating but enough and a few tables outside that we chose to sit at. It's in a shared shopping strip so there isn't a ton of parking. Hope to visit again soon!

Yelp
Loved this spot in Houston! Came 2 days in a row based on how balanced the coffee blended in with the flavors of the lattes I got. I first tried the island latte (pandan flavors) and LOVED IT. The next day i did the Spanish latte and really liked that one too. Service was great and the spot seemed like a chill place to meet up with people, do some work or just relax. Can't wait to drop by again next time im in town.

Yelp
During my trip to Houston, I was determined to try coffee places that were different from the ones we had at home. Then I found Luce Ave Coffee Roasters on Yelp! Charcoal latte? I'll give it a go! I decided to get their Black Island which had charcoal powder, pandan, shots, and coconut milk while my friends got a Strawberry Vanilla Luccino, which was an ice blended drink. The Black Island is a pretty good drink overall. I don't particularly taste too much coffee or pandan in the drink. Maybe the charcoal kind of muted the taste of the coffee? The pandan just blended in tasting like vanilla to be honest. The good thing is that the coffee wasn't too sweet or anything like that. My friends really liked the Strawberry Vanilla Luccino but they did say that there was a ton of sugar in the drink. So if you're sugar conscious, maybe see if you could get this at less sweet. Overall, I liked my drink but I would've liked it with more coffee flavor. Maybe an extra shot would work better. I wouldn't mind coming back when I visit Houston again!

Yelp
I wanted to try their matcha but saw reviews mentioning their matcha was too sweet and not ceremonial grade so I ordered the hazelnut macchiato instead ... which was also very sweet and tasted like straight up sugar. They were also playing really loud early 2000s hip hop music in the morning; not very chill for a coffee shop as there were people working/studying.

Yelp
I came here on some downtime with a friend to tryout their charcoal series coffee drinks and really enjoyed it! I tried both the Black Island which has pandan in it and the Black Forest which has matcha in it. The tastes for both of them were really unique since you could taste a bit of the charcoal and both of them weren't too sweet. I preferred the Black Island a bit more, since I like the taste of pandan. The interior decor and vibe of the shop is pretty cool. On the first floor they sell a lot of merch, coffee gear, and roasted whole beans. On the second floor, there's some seating space for reading/studying. They also roast their coffee on the second floor which is pretty cool since you can watch the roasting process as it happens. There is pretty limited seating space though, since they have two staircases that lead to the second floor which takes up a lot of unnecessary space and the center is taken up by a skylight for the first floor.

Yelp
My favorite coffee from here that I always order is the Island latte. The baristas make it super fast and are always friendly. I like that the sweetness of the pandan balances the coffee and the pandan part itself tastes really good. It makes me want to make it myself to save my wallet Great study space if you need to do some work here.

Yelp
One of our top favorite coffee spots! Bonus: it's super close by to us and the wait time is almost always less than 3 minutes or so. My husband loves the Mont Blanc and I'm a huge fan of their matcha latte and island latte. Their drinks always tastes consistent and never disappoints. I've had their almond croissant as well and the portion is huge and flavorful. I stopped by today and also saw that they now serve breakfast tacos, yum! They also have a rewards system which we always take advantage of since we visit here quite often :)

Yelp
So I actually came here to try a drink rather than find a spot to work. Walking in, this is a rather small coffee shop so if you do want to work here, you may want to get in early and secure a work space. Service was quick and friendly and I got the black island latte. I thought it was a really good drink and looked really cool, prior to me mixing it. The coconut pandan milk had a light green hue which looked nice against the charcoal coffee. Flavorwise, it was a nice mix of coconut and coffee with a hint of pandan. It had a pleasant amount of sweetness and probably one of the better lattes I've had in the city. Again, caveat that I'm not a huge coffee drinker so I can't actually speak much for the quality of coffee.

Yelp
The pandan coffee (Island latte) was decent--nothing bad, but nothing special either. The service was friendly, but the seating options were limited, and many, including the couch, were unclean and had crumbs. On the plus side, there are outlets available. I'll have to try some other drinks to get a better picture to update my rating.

Yelp
This coffee shop never disappoints. Located in the greenway/richmond area, this little oasis offers classics as well as a variety of signature drinks. The space is inviting with quaint patio seating. The entryway has live plants, which I personally love. The interior space is deceptively large with a bar/kitchen area, cool murals and decor, a merch section, and a long narrow hallway for seating The staff is very personable and professional. They greeted me, never made me feel rushed as I ordered, asked me how I would prefer my order (hod vs iced drink and if I wanted my baked item warmed up). It was quick service Some tips: Try their activated charcoal drink options. They not only provide you with the typical activated charcoal benefits, but they also look so cool. I would also try the glazed lemon poppy seed muffin. It's hearty and not overly sweet Cheers!!

Yelp
I tried the latte with simple syrup and the island latte which was really good. I usually don't like coconut flavors in my drinks but it was not too overpowering while still being able to taste it. The store is so cute, the workers were nice, the drinks came out fast, but there wasn't that much seating.
google avatar

Mandy C.

Yelp
The best coffee drink I've ever had. The black island, which is the pandan coffee, simply can't be described in words. The coffee taste isn't really there, but the drink explodes with flavor. The charcoal adds a bit of a gritty texture, which adds depth to the smooth and creamy consistency of the pandan with coconut milk. My only complaint is that the interior of the store smells like booty-hole (from the restroom). I will be returning to take my drink to-go.

Yelp
Luce Ave Coffee Roasters has been on my coffee radar for quite some time, but just never got around to trying them out. I happened to have dinner next door and when I pulled up I saw they were next door. It was a no brainer to check them out for a nice after dinner and drive home treat. I came in the evening and the place was fairly busy. The shop itself is narrow but has plenty of seating and did not feel crowded at all. It seemed like the it spot in the neighborhood to get some work done as everyone had their heads in a screen of some sort. Customer service was ok. The person who took my order only spoke when spoken to and only offered assistance with the menu when asked. No biggie, I got the information that I needed eventually. Their menu has a lot of variety. They have your everyday classic options like espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, etc. One of their featured items are the charcoal drinks. They also have cold drinks, teas and frozen drinks. I was curious about some of the signature drinks but that category had no descriptions of the drinks. I ended up with the Island Latte which was a latte with pandan syrup and coconut milk. Definitely very islandy. Once stirred and all the flavors were incorporated, that drink was absolutely delicious. It had just the right amount of sweetness for my taste buds. The hints of vanilla from the pandan mixed with the coconut flavors made for a tasty sip. I usually say I would definitely come back here if in the area, but not this time. Word on the streets is they are opening up a location right in my neck of the woods in Pearland soon. Can't wait!

Yelp
I went back to Luce after really liking the first drink I got from there. This time I got their montblanc which is also from their black label series. It has charcoal powder, cacao nib, vanilla, milk, and shots. It was basically like a white chocolate iced coffee with charcoal powder. The drink is more on the sweeter side but still pretty solid. I thought it was good but my favorite is still the black island one with pandan. I want to try more drinks from their original series next time. This place is really small so not ideal for studying unless you're going by yourself

Yelp
Personally prefer my matcha sweet and was warned the adjustment I wanted would make it sweet, which I still agreed to without hesitation. Watched as staff kind of snickered at me for my customization and overheard them speaking in Viet (which I understood!) Matcha tasted exactly the way I liked and wanted so stars are for that, just really disappointed in how I felt embarrassed by fellow Viets so wouldn't really feel comfortable coming back /:

Yelp
Nice little coffee shop with its own unique style. They have an "Island Latte" which of course I had to try. It's basically a latte with pandan syrup but maybe they figure most people don't know what that is? Not sure but I think naming it Island Latte definitely pique's the curiosity because I was sold! It was delicious and the froth game was on point. It had a nice amount of froth at the end. It was super flavorful, however it could have been a little hotter. I also had the regular croissant. I was a little disappointed in that it lacked flavor and was somewhat dry. They had other ones with fillings that I may try next time. I was interested in their charcoal menu. I've never seen charcoal infused coffee drinks before, so I can't wait to come back and try that!

Yelp
Clean, small, and very cozy cafe located in a shopping strip across from the Costco on Richmond. Parking is limited and the spots fill up quickly. I'm not a coffee drinker but the month of September has been extremely busily with vacations and work so I've needed extra boots of energy. I've had this place bookmarked for a while and glad I finally tried it. I ordered the island latte and it was definitely as good as all the reviews said! Smooth, creamy, fresh beverage that got me through the day. They also have pastries and breakfast tacos from tacos a go go. I grabbed one of the potato, eggs, and cheese taco. They were fairly busy but the service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
Black Island Ice latte (16oz) - 10/10!!! So so GOOD. Next time will try the Black Forest for their matcha! Must must try
google avatar

Ambreen K.

Yelp
Their cream americano and island latte are a 10/10! Both are on the sweeter side just a heads up!

Yelp
Great spot for coffee and it could be a great spot to study, but the wifi wasn't working for many sites I needed to access, like canvas. I was here in the early morning when it wasn't too busy. I usually get the black cloud latte when I go to Luce, but I wanted to try something new and saw the Luce blossom, which is a lavender oat milk latte with one shot of espresso. It was not overwhelmingly strong. It's a light, refreshing and sweet drink that I would get again for sure! Next time, I'd probably ask for less ice because by the time I was done drinking the latte, my cup was filled more than halfway with ice. Don't want to be paying $6.50 for a drink that consisted majorly of ice. Service is wonderful; the employee up front was super friendly and warm. They play nice music, adding to the ambience of this shop. There are more than enough parking spots around the building. If you're wanting to try something new, I'd recommend this place, as it offers high quality drinks & high quality service!
google avatar

Samah K.

Yelp
I came here early in the morning to get some work done before I had to go into work, and it was so busy! The ambiance was nice, the space was large yet very narrow. I got the iced Spanish latte which had 4 shots!!! of espresso and condensed milk. Super delicious and definitely felt like it was enough to get me through the day.

T P.

Yelp
The coffee is to say plain and simple WORTH IT!! Panpacificopea (sp) Been a customer since before the pandemic. Excited when the store opened in the Bunkerhill HEB, 2 miles from home! Nice people always informed and fun to chat with. Very clean and excellent presentation and ambiance for such a small space.

Yelp
Luce has easily become one of my "go-to" coffee spots in the city for it's consistency and it's convenience from a location standpoint. The Luce on Richmond is SUPER tiny, so it doesn't exactly invite you to want to stay, but the Luce in the Heights has two stories and is a COMPLETELY different vibe in my opinion. The heights location has a lot more parking available and is a much bigger space than the one on Richmond. I believe there is one more location, but I have not visited that one yet. On the weekends I like to study at the Heights location and hang out for a while. They have fast internet and a great section to study. I wish there was a couch or something, but I recognize this place is busy so that probably wouldn't be the best idea. I've tried many of their drinks including: Caramel Macchiato Island Latte White Mocha They've always been really accommodating for lowering the overall sweetness of all of these drinks and so far, I haven't found one I dislike. I'm more of a hot coffee drinker, so I haven't ventured into trying any of their charcoal drinks yet. Every Friday I try a new local coffee shop and I always find myself coming back to Luce, so this company is obviously doing something right.
google avatar

Jan J.

Yelp
The cream americano is the BEST thing ever. There is no other coffee in Houston that comes close to the Cream American. The staff is hit & miss with the service. Sometimes they are warm and welcoming, other times they are dismissive. The inside isn't special. Their ambiance / aesthetic isn't a priority for them, but since they're coffee is worth it, its ok.
google avatar

Madelina N.

Yelp
I usually try their island latte which is always amazing!!! decided for less caffeine today so tried the matcha latte. It had a good flavor without being watery or too milky like I've tried at other places. Matcha was very sweet but the barista warned me before I got it! So don't get it if you don't like too much sugar.

Sophia L.

Yelp
I got the island latte with pandan. It is so unique and tastes so good! The vibe of this place is great and the coffee came out really quick.
google avatar

Greg L.

Yelp
Was in the area and needed a fix. Solid coffee would come back. Also sausage Jalapeño pastry was excellent.

Penney L.

Yelp
Delicious! We were in Houston for about 4 days & literally got a cup of the Black Forest every morning! Curtado, chai latte, espresso shot, macchiato were also really good. Service was awesome, cute decor. Will definitely return when we're back in town
google avatar

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and check out Luce Ave Coffee Roasters. They're located in a nice area of Houston near the Greenway plaza (Costco, LA Fitness, lots of other amenities). The shop itself is a bit small but they've done a good job of maximizing their space, and there appeared to be enough seats to study or take a call. My partner and I tried two of their iced coffees - the fallchata and the black island. The fallchata had all the qualities of a good fall beverage but without the overpowering pumpkin spice artificial/chemically taste. It's quite good and not overly sweet. It also comes with oat milk for those of us who need milk alternatives. The black island is like the polar opposite but is equally as tasty. It has a rich, charcoal and pandan flavor and it comes in a beautiful presentation. It's not super bitter, don't worry. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of their offerings.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance and the delicious coffee. I had the charcoal with Pandan while my friends had the charcoal vanilla and another had the charcoal forest. We all loved it so much! Wish we had this shop in our home town!
google avatar

Linda D.

Yelp
Ordered black island and island latte at 50% sweetness. It seems these two are the heavily favored taste as per review. At 50% sweetness it's still a bit on the sweet taste, the pandan taste is still traceable in the black island but on the latte it's barely there except in the smell. Also ordered almond croissant, warmed up, gosh! It's super sweet , granted the taste is good. I wish the sugar is not so overwhelming and almost obscure the taste of everything. Service is not bad, the guy almost forgot to mention the 50% sweetness, I wonder if I would have had a syrups coffee instead. In addition to pastries this place also sells tacos, yes! Tacos!
google avatar

Sherelle L.

Yelp
Grabbed a lemonade and a caramel macchiato , and both were great! My latte did what it needed to do! Now, my apple turnover I could have done without. It wasn't bad by any means, it was just okay. I love the innovative drinks they have on the menu! Not a lot of seating in here, so more of a grab and go place in my opinion.
google avatar

J. Antonio H.

Yelp
The service and offer are outstanding the ambience is claustrophobic. Narrow lukeobe those London pubs that were previously alley

Paige C.

Yelp
I ordered the iced matcha and it taste like straight sugar. Their matcha is not ceremonial grade Matcha. Told them it was way too sweet and asked if I could get something different. They said yes, but ended up charging me to change my drink. Unless you like sugary milk do not order their Matcha or even their iced latte as it is just as sugary as the matcha, don't waste your money. Do not recommend at all.
google avatar

Mandeep B.

Yelp
Amazing drinks. Love the charcoal menu! A little crowded but this location is great for grab and go
google avatar

Leyl L.

Yelp
Love Luce!! their drinks are always so good, especially if you get them half sweet or less than half sweet. my favorite is the minimal sweetness matcha latte with coconut milk. it has an earthy, yet islandly taste. it's like i'm at the beach and a beautiful fairy forest at the same time. The only issue with this location, is that the space is kind of small and tight . i hope they decide to do an expansion one day. the only places to sit inside is a narrow hallway. it's great if you like the cozy vibe! but if you prefer to sit by a window, or have a large open indoor area, definitely go to another location!!
google avatar

Linda T.

Yelp
A-Mazing island ice latte. The only cafe that offers pandan flavor latte, that I know of, in the Houston area. Must try if you have never had it and is a coffee lover, like myself. Latte are strong yet settle without the bitterness. Food are delicious as well, try their breakfast tacos if you're craving for more savory or their blueberry danish for something more semi-sweet! I can never get my hands on brisket breakfast tacos but maybe I come too late (~10 AM) so something for you to think about. Service are always friendly and there's usually a line, for good reasons. Two small seatings outside for when it's not triple digits in Texas unless you want to be in a natural sauna. Limiting seatings inside but most people just grab and go.
google avatar

Chloe M.

Yelp
Home of my favorite pandan latte! The coffee is good and they have done well for such a small space. Service here has never been above and beyond but the new hires are often kind and helpful.
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
The place is kinda small. It has max 20 people worth of seating both inside and outside. There were only 2 baristas when I was there, so it look around 15-20 minutes to get one cup of coffee. I don't blame the establishment but it was definitely something to keep in mind. Maybe I just went at the wrong time.
google avatar

Brett N.

Yelp
Why 5 stars? Because the island latte was too good to pass up. --- --- --- My day was: 4:30am wakeup Coffee Basketball Coffee + Kolaches/Donuts Walk dog Coffee Lunch Coffee And then my wife suggested a visit to Luce Ave. I was literally at a place where I had just finished a coffee. But you know what, I woke up way too early in the morning and had already put in around 15,000 steps, so I was ready for coffee #5. I had bookmarked Luce Ave and wanted to check them out anyway, so what better time than now? Normally I ordered black coffee, but my wife got an island latte and I took a sample sip. Before it was all 100% swallowed, I was walking up to the counter to order my own. It was delicious and what all (non-black) coffee should taste like. I would not hesitate to stop into a Luce Ave in the future and am so glad I did, despite the caffeine damaged I likely caused my organs on this day.
google avatar

Irene H.

Yelp
a lot of traffic for a Sunday morning but they move the line quick. narrow space but plenty seating. parking lot is limited as shared plaza. pastries looked good. they also offer breakfast tacos.
google avatar

Sophie Y.

Yelp
First time here while heading to my friend's place. I'm obsessed with pandan and had the iced 16 oz black island drink for $6. There's 2 small tables in the patio and service was quite fast. The drink was quite refreshing and beautiful. I also don't mind charcoal powder too. Just thought there was too much ice; more than half of my cup was still ice when I finished the drink.
google avatar

Dina S.

Yelp
Good coffee! I got the chai latte. It's definitely a place to grab coffee and go. There isn't much seating and it's pretty tight. Staff is nice

Coco K.

Yelp
I absolutely love this shop. The people are very friendly. The island latte featured in the picture is so good, yummy creamy coconut on the sweet side but not too sweet. Delicious.
google avatar

Elnara K.

Yelp
Hints of coconut, cream, espresso. The perfect balance. On the sweeter side but not too sweet. Nice baristas as well.
