The 21 Best Restaurants In The North Fork - Long Island - The Infatuation

"This Mexican spot a few doors away from Claudio’s has crispy tacos filled with duck, hefty burritos, and a great elote starter. Seating outside is limited, so plan on arriving early. This place is full of color—we’re talking about walls full of artwork highlighting Mexican wrestlers, salt-rimmed colorful margaritas, and a rum-based Lucha Punch that’s the perfect thing to sip on as you look out on Main Street. If it's too packed and you can't find a table, opt for plan B: get your tacos to go, and walk around town while nursing a Jarritos." - sal vaglica

Food was mid-to-good. Nacho trio was a cool concept - needed a little more cheese, but good. Their version of fajitas doesn’t come out sizzling and the steak was cooked to the point of carmelizing making it a bit too sweet. Service was slow but nice and friendly. Decor was great.

Google
Came to Lucharito’s for some Mexican food because of a recommendation. The place is so vibe. Ifs vibrant and great music was playing. It must be popular because we had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table. We just walked to the dock in the meantime. We order margaritas which were delicious. The right amount of sweet but tartness. I also appreciated them asking what kind of rim we wanted as I think salt rims should be discontinued. We then ordered the elote corn. If elote is on the menu, I’m getting it. This one was AMAZING. Probably the best I’ve ever had. Instead of regular mayo, the used chipotle menu which gave it a flavor profile that I will crave from now on. The chips were subpar. They didn’t seem fresh and weren’t salted to my liking. For my main meal I order 3 tacos: 2 Baja chicken and a traditional carnitas. You are probably wondering what is Baja chicken well instead of the fish on the Baja fish taco I substituted chicken and my GOSH. Give me 14 of them right now. The cabbage, pickled red onion, and chipotle mayo were perfect accoutrements to the crispy chicken. The carnitas taco was classic and did the job. The food was great!!! The reason for a 4 star was that our food took a really long time to come out. We were told they were making the chips fresh, however, the chips gave stale store bought chips. It wouldn’t deter me from coming back though. Overall, I recommend!!!

Google
Amazing restaurant! Such a fun and exciting place to gather, eat, relax and unwind. Restaurant has an upbeat vibe. We ordered the chicken quesadillas and our kids ordered both the barbecued and buffalo wings and all dishes were fresh and delicious. Our server Christian was exceptionally friendly, welcoming and really went out of his way to ensure we all had a memorable experience. Restaurant is spacious yet cozy and inviting, and super clean as well. I highly recommended dropping by Lucharitos on your next to Greenport on the North Fork of Long Island. You will definitely enjoy the overall dining and beverage experience. Both child and senior friends. I wish I could give more than five stars!

Google
Food is always delicious here (their dips are fantastic), it’s almost always packed, so one might have to wait about 40 minutes to get food/table. I wasn’t that big if a fan of their tacos, but that might be just my taste:) The strawberry margarita is 🔥!!

Google
I had such a great experience at Lucharitos in Greenport! The food was incredible, and they were so accommodating with my dairy allergy. They even made the street corn dairy-free, and it was absolutely delicious. The tacos were flavorful, the drinks were amazing, and the overall vibes were so fun and welcoming. We loved it so much that after lunch, we came back just to grab a drink at the bar. Definitely a spot I’d recommend and will be visiting again!

Google
Just arrived at Greenport and this was the first restaurant we visited. The restaurant staff was so nice (thank you Kim!) and the chicken burrito was the best I’ve had. Really loved my experience here!

Google
I stopped by while I was on a trip. Very busy but we got help pretty quick. We ordered the Carne burritos, they were delicious! I'll definitely stop by again if I have the chance !

Google
Enjoyed our dinner at Lucharitos which had great atmosphere with ask of the wrestling gear. They also have an amazing tequila selection and I enjoyed some nice neat tequila. Otherwise we sat at the bar, the service was good and the food was good. Neither was over the top but we overall enjoyed our dinner. Easy to get to as near the waterfront and easy walking distance from most everything in Greenport. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Excellent service food was amazing best carne asada burrito I've ever eaten. Will definitely be back. Nice decor cozy comfy and cool

Yelp
Lucharito's is a decent option for Mexican food and drinks in Greenport. It can get busy pretty quickly, but if you're looking for a burrito or quesadilla, this is your spot. The food was good, I liked the duck in my quesadilla. Unfortunately, it did have a bone in it, that was an unwelcome surprise to chomp down on. And the sauces that came with the dish weren't the best, guac tasted bland in particular. But still a tasty entree, overall, even with the issues. Same sort of vibe for the burrito on special; not bad, but not mind blowing. It's a lively atmosphere inside, with group seating and stools all around the bar. Good for a sit down meal with friends, but maybe not the best place for a more intimate conversation. Decent spot to consider in the village!

Yelp
This is a good spot in Greenport and one of my faves the whole weekend! Our group decided to do take-out, which might be encouraged as I know the place can get real busy. Loves: + Good Mexican food (eg. burritos, tacos, chips, bowls, quesadillas) + They even deliver drinks! + They apparently do a happy hour weekdays 4-6pm for BOGO mocktails or $6 margs which I think is fab If I visit Greenport again, I would come back here for the happy hour for sure!

Yelp
I had a review here and I am deleting it I didn't have a great experience but what an amazing reply from the owner. I'll go back to give another try Changed to 3 stars until I go again.

Yelp
Taco bell Food quality.... The service is fake because after 1 hour not receiving 2 tacos and 1 appetizer the nice waitress is now a rude bitch. Next time I'm Waiting that 1 hour for claudio's so much better then this.

Yelp
8/6/24 Had another great meal Tonight. Me my wife and three sons get there at least once a year And have been since 2017. It was Taco Tuesday and we all sampled certain tacos on the menu as well as a burrito. They were all delicious. Had a few classic margaritas and mojitos And a Mexican luch brew. Apps we had the three choice queso salsa and guacamole along with some delicious empanadas. The place was jumping. We did have a slight wait for our food but our server was terrific all evening and constantly checked on us apologizing for the wait.

Yelp
This vibrant restaurant serves typical Mexican cuisine, offering anything from handhelds like tacos and burritos to bowls and entrees. Our knowledgeable waitress offered suggestions and listened to our needs. After telling her about my bell pepper allergy and allergy to any of its derivatives, she assured me the guacamole did not have any jalapeño peppers, chili pepper, or any other kind of pepper. I was thrilled! After receiving my burrito though, I was dismayed to find sliced peppers on the plate. I reminded her of my allergy, and she responded "but those are banana peppers, not bell peppers". Ugh I'll still give four stars though because this restaurant's casual vibe is different from other restaurants in Greenport, decently priced, and offers a range of food choices. They just need to be a bit more cognizant to their customers' food allergies.

Yelp
Very popular spot in Greenport. It's hit or miss on holidays, but the normal menu has something for everyone. Service is good, given the crowd. Drinks come quick, food is cooked to order. It's got a cool Mexican wrestling vibe. Street corn dip was meh... tasted a lot like canned corn with no char. Pass on that, but otherwise I haven't been disappointed. And if you like heat, you gotta try the proprietary sauce. The chef makes it in-house. If you are in Greenport and looking to satisfy your taco/burrito cravings, you're good. Stop by.

Yelp
Greenport Village is pretty cleared out in the dead of winter so if you want to know why all the storefronts look empty, it's because everyone is at Lucharito's. It certainly helps that it was one of the only places open when we were there. The server snuck us in close to close and brought out super fresh salad bowls. The chicken was rather dry, but the Lucharito's was warm and the service was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Ambiance is great. Hard pass, go somewhere else. It is really by far the worst taco I had. I honestly dk where or how people are giving this place a 4-5 star rating. Service is ok just very careless and not attentive.

Yelp
North fork local, seemed like they didn't want us to be there as soon as we walked in. Manager rolled eyes at us when my girlfriend, sister & I said we'd sit at the bar and the place was mostly empty. The woman bartending demanded to see our IDs before she'd even said hello or we'd ordered anything then when my sister didn't have hers told us we couldn't sit at the bar & then just stood there looking annoyed at us. I work in restaurants for the last 14 years you can sit at the bar and not drink. Ordered 1 round & left, was a great spot when Kenny was GM wouldn't recommend. Bad service & worse staff. 0/5.

Yelp
Came to Lucharitos for dinner the other night with my family'. It was happy hour so we had ordered 2 orders of wings, and chips & salsa. I ordered a jalopeno margarita & It was sooo good with the tajin rim. For dinner I had tacos. My favorite was the ground beef with the soft & hard shell. I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
i got the chips and salsa and its a huge tray! i took most of it home and its so so good! i also got the chicken taco in a corn tortilla and the veggie taco in a crunchy tortilla and i loved them both! they had alot of stuff on them so it was a bit messy but so worth it lol. i would go back again! very friendly staff as well.

Yelp
I took my kids to lunch yesterday for an end of school year treat. Our server Brenden was so nice! We started with lobster guac for an appetizer. It was excellent. My son had the pulled pork tacos. So much flavor! I had a shrimp taco and a carne asada taco - delicious. My daughter had the shrimp quesadilla. She loved it! Overall great experience. Attentive service, delicious food at an affordable price. A pretty rare combination to find in Greenport these days. Well done!

Yelp
Looking for Tex Mex while in Greenport, then look no further. It's quick, casual, fun and yummy with friendly service and a smile. We stopped in for a late lunch. Happy hour starts after 3:00 pm. It's got a cool, hip vibe that invokes fun when you enter with the music pumping. To start we ordered a cold beer and the beef & cheese empanadas. Followed by a trio of tacos made to satisfy my flavor profile: duck, beef & chicken all with varying taco shells and a grilled chicken burrito bowl. All were prepared with fresh ingredients and yummy. The beef & cheese empanadas were hands down our favorite! Fresh, hot & delicious.

Rose D.

Yelp
Walked in, place was empty except for 1 table with a family- door is open cold day. Am with my 90 year old mother who walks with cane- we are seated near where door is open and mom and I are cold. I look to waitress that it's cold who shrugs her shoulders and says "air is off" . Doesn't bother to move us to a table out of the cold draft or offer to close the door . We left.
google avatar

Shubhi M.

Yelp
Classic Tex mex food, not authentic but the flavor is good. I really loved that the vegetarian option wasn't just beans and cheese, it was loaded with various vegetables, it made the meal so much more worth it. Nacho was huge and smothered in queso rather than real cheese, odd choice but I liked it. They have fun daily specials and we were able to get discounted tacos. They actually made a mistake on of our tacos (they gave us the wrong tortilla, not a huge mistake at all) and they let us just keep it and have us a new one. That was nice, most restaurants don't give you the option of keeping it. Service was friendly and ambiance was a classic Tex max vibe - loud vibrant colors, fun ambiance !

Yelp
When everything else was closed, Lucharitos came through for us in the most clutch ways. Kim, Hannah, and Nicole made our stay in Greenport memorable for going the extra mile for us. Customer service was top tier. This is how a business should be ran! We will be back! -Kayla and Martha

Jacqueline O.

Yelp
Food was okay I was not as satisfied as I usually am. We were usually regulars and go every summer many times and I was extremely disappointed. The waitress who sat us with the long colorful nails barely served us. We waited at least 45 minutes for appetizers and didn't even get plates for it. Dinner was okay. Overall I was not impressed.

C T.

Yelp
Food was sooooooo good!! So fresh and well made. The poppers were actually REAL!! Wings were awesome! Burrito was HUGE. And tacos so good!! Felt bad for the bartender as she was alone. The business needs to have better staffing. That's the only reason for the 4 stars. Margaritas were also as good as they advertise!!
google avatar

Arianna Z.

Yelp
The food is excellent here. Every bite was bursting with flavor! The veggie one hits hard with the zucchini in it! Kudos to the chef and great customer service from Mike (the manager) and Justin (the bartender). Definitely a great happy hour vibe! Get Justin's signature margarita and ask him about the queso! Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Danielle D.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience. My husband and I came last evening for drinks. Delicious fresh margaritas, no sour mix here. Justin was bartending and he made our experience wonderful. Super friendly, excellent customer service. Tried different flavored margaritas. Today we came back for lunch. The tacos were delicious and nice portions. Excellent food and service will make me take the ride back out. Definitely add to your must try stops.

Yelp
Friday at 9pm How can anyone resist waking into a Mexican place nacho libre themed with masks hanging on the wall and have lively too 40 music playing in the background . The food was not anything to rave about but it's a fun place to hang out with friends, family , big groups , eating nachos , wings and drinking beer . It's also in a corner so loads of foot traffic and people watching opportunities. Our server did a good job taking care of our table ( checking in on us from time to time to see if we needed anything )
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Best meal in Greenport! They accommodated my dietary restrictions and had great vegan options! Had their version of fajitas and the nachos with veggies and no cheese! Very kind and respectful servers- thanks so much!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is fun and festive with a full bar and some really great tacos. The Duck BBQ Duck Tacos was were amazing and loaded with tender tasty duck. The Coconut Shrimp, Carnitas and Al Pastor tacos were all excellent as well. The dressings on these taco is what took them to the next level. Combining Chipotle Mayo, corn salsa, mango salsa, cilantro and salsa verse made these tacos burst with flavor. We also tried the Beef and cheese empanadas. Crispy shells filled with a delicious blend of meat and cheese. Overall great meal. I definitely recommend.

Roy R.

Yelp
Didn't taste very authentic. We had the Nacho Trio, it included beef, pork, chicken, guacamole, pico, etc. The guacamole was a spoonful of what tasted like a store bought guacamole, think Sabra or Wholly. The meats lacked flavor and the nachos included a very small amount of each meat. The nachos were mostly cabbage, sour cream, and jalapeños. For the main course we had fish tacos and a shrimp burrito. Surprisingly, they were huge and very flavorful. The mango margarita was good, the classic margarita was just right. Our server was courteous and kept checking on us. Overall, I would go back, but probably just for margaritas and seafood tacos. I did see they had a nice selection of authentic Tequila. They also had pretty cool decor.

Yelp
Went on a freezing dark night in Greenport. This place always has great food and drinks. Service is on point and there was ample seating. This is always our go to out east.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
Street corn is bland, tacos were underwhelming, drink had wilted brown mint leaves. Did get a great side show from one employee who was in a fight with another and felt it appropriate to tell all her coworkers one by one right in front of me sitting at the bar.
google avatar

Marisa G.

Yelp
I want to like this place, but I just can't. The drinks are good, but the food is mediocre and the service is iffy at best. The food took nearly an hour to come out. I understand that the place is popular, but children waiting an hour for ground beef and queso is nonsense! And if they are making people wait an hour, they should be comping drinks, not making half excuses only when you check in a the 40 minute mark...

Paige M.

Yelp
CHILDREN AND BABIES NOT WELCOME!! My husband and my 11 week old baby walked down to get a table at the Greenport location. They waited outside and I walked in to inquire. Upon entering the waitress said "what's up???" with such an attitude. What's up? I'm clearly looking for a table.. anyways- I asked if they had a table for 2 and a stroller. She said strollers are not welcomed and I can leave it outside on the sidewalk. I asked what other options there were and that my 11 week old (sleeping) baby can't even hold her head up. She said I don't know what to tell you, we don't allow them. THIS IS DISGUSTING!! This is a small vacation spot loaded with families and children of all ages. It is completely discriminatory and they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

Ida W.

Yelp
The restaurant is a bit messy with trash on the floor. The food isn't great. Skip it.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
I've been to a couple Lucharito's locations and Greenport is my favorite. The vibe is great. Think Tex-Mex and margaritas in a fun bright casual atmosphere with old school cartoon luchadores proudly displayed. The 6 of us went to the empty restaurant for lunch around noon and a good 15minutes later all the seats were taken. Table are spaced far enough apart from each other. The have both TVs at the bar for those looking to watch a game and kids options with high chairs (just ask that you collapse the strollers). I've tried both burrito and tacos (both great) but think tacos are the fan favorite. Nachos were big, great for sharing.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
Well worth the wait. Don't be turned off by the line. Great lunch spot if you're shopping the stores of Greenport. We stopped prior to getting on a boat to Shelter Island and we're pleasantly surprised (and stuffed) by the great food, staff, and drinks. Jalapeño margarita was *chefs kiss*

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
So good. I came to their other location near the wineries, I think Aquebogue, some years back, and it tasted exactly like I remembered. I love how they cater to a variety of diets be it vegetarians or meat eaters. I had the buffalo cauliflower taco, mushroom taco, and grilled shrimp taco. Delicious. I especially enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower taco and grilled shrimp taco. It goes down very well after a wine tasting

Yelp
Quite possibly the top 3 of the best Mexican restaurants I've experienced. Surf & Turf (steak & shrimp) Burrito was enormous! Awwwmazing Lime-Chili wings, BBQ Duck tacos, Beer Battered Shrimp taco, Coconut Shrimp taco and the Corn Tortilla Chips are excellent!

George F.

Yelp
Food was good and priced well. Recommend the coconut shrimp taco. However the food took forever to come (45+ mins!).
google avatar

Virginia T.

Yelp
Popped in here for a girls night. The drinks were OK but the food was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed the beef, chicken and shrimp tacos. We devoured (or I did) the nachos and regular chips. The guac was fresh, tasty and creamy. Cute area, great atmosphere and was the perfect dinner for our ladies night! Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Yelp
An absolute must when in Greenport. Great margaritas and excellent food. Staff is awesome and a happy in a world of entitlement which is a rare find- TREAT THE WAITSTAFF LIKE HUMAN BEINGS PEOPLE!!!! Can't wait to return.
google avatar

Sara O.

Yelp
Tried to go to the Greenport location on 8/6/24. It was raining and we drove 30 minutes. I called at least 5 times to see if there was a wait and no one ever answered the phone. We showed up at 8:30 and were told that they were no longer seating for the night because they were to busy, but the restaurant was only 25% filled. When I asked the bartender if she was serious she just stared at me with wide eyes and said, "we have to many tables that are still waiting for food." Then a dark haired, female server tried to bully our entire party of 3 adults and 4 children and push us out the door into the rain. As we were trying to leave, she quickly closed the door as she was physically moving and shoving us out the door and sternly said, "This door needs to remain closed!" I have never encounter such rude and unprofessional customer service. So sad since we have always enjoyed our times at Lucharitos and had taken so many of our out of town guests there over the years. We certainly will not be returning if this is how they treat their customers.

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place cause of excellent decoration and good reviews. Service was excellent but I am giving it one star cause the food was not Mexican. I had a burrito special and there was no any hot chilies or cilantro in it. Chips were soggy and pick de gallo tasted old. Meat in burrito was cooked ok but without any flavor. Beans tasted just taken out of can. I think this is spot to have some drinks but definitely not food destination.
google avatar

Justin R.

Yelp
Got a nice comic themed summery vibe. Definitely very accessible. Menu was simple yet had some interesting things such as the duck carnitas. I thought the food was ok. The chips and 3 dips app was great because it was only $15 and had guac, queso and salsa, they also gave enough chips. The guac and salsa were great however, the queso literally just tasted like melted American cheese, no salsa, no spice. Duck carnitas had a Smokey bbq sauce that was nothing special. Tried the pork as well which was slightly over cooked. Overall love the vibe for lunch and on a beautiful street but food fell short for sure.

Raquel B.

Yelp
Love this place. Fire food, and fire drinks. Go to Mexican place always a great vibe. Please try this place its amazing and the wings are sooo yummy!

hilda h.

Yelp
The first time that I came to this restaurant, I gave it 4 stars. Maybe it was the margarita talking. Today the food was mediocre and the service was worse. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, it took more than 20 minutes to get a glass of water and 30 minutes for the margarita. We waited more than an hour for our food (4 tacos) which was cold and tasteless when it arrived. The carnitas taco was tough, the fried shrimp taco contained fried fish, not shrimp. The bbq duck taco was cold but good. The waiter was rude and acted as though he didn't want to be bothered. I saw him complain to another waitress that I asked what was taking so long for our tacos. He actually told me that the kitchen staff all started 2 days ago and didn't know what they were doing! Who does that? I should have walked out at that point! I will never return.
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
The Quick: Love me some Lucharitos! The Veggie burrito is awesome. Everything is a bit pricy, and they charge extra for cheese and sour cream (which we don't get) so I can see people not like that. But the food is delicious! The queso is out of control, nachos are full of goodness. The staff is really cool. Overall a great spot

Tina K.

Yelp
Always great food, even when you make changes to your meal. Great service as well. But, if you go to the Greenport location, ask for Chateau as your server and it will make your experience even better. She is so much fun, has the best energy and outstanding customer service. Her smile doesn't stop and her energy will make you want to get up and hug her!!!! The world needs more of her attitude! I would give her a 10 star rating!

Juliann C.

Yelp
This used to be one of my faves but we had a terrible experience. Every item we ordered was messed up in some way. Waitress was nice. The kitchen manager had a bad attitude and a lot of excuses. I have frequented all of their restaurants since the beginning and have never had an experience like this.

Wesley H.

Yelp
Came here and was immediately seated.Waited about 8 minutes before someone came to our table. All the staff was extremely nice. Ordered the chip trio, a shrimp burrito, and pulled pork nachos. Waited another 10 minutes and I had to ask for our chips to be delivered. The guacamole and queso tasted like they were out of a can. Chips were pretty good though. Nachos were bland and the pork was dry. Burrito was pretty flavorless. Shrimp was good and well-seasoned. We ate about half the food then left. Big disappointment. Pretty expensive for what we got.

Marci K.

Yelp
While I wanted to like this place because they have many locations across Long Island, this location was terrible. It was a Tuesday night with a decent crowd, one would think they would take advantage of this, however to get an in place it order would have taken over an hour. We didn't order anything that would have warranted that long. It seemed as if our sever was more concerned with taking the order of the next patron, over making sure our food was in place. I also tried to use my foodie card upon checkout, and the waitress seemed totally unsure of what to do. I will not return nor will I check out the other locations.
