Lucie

"Owner Yannick Bigourdan named his French restaurant after his grandmother who clearly inspired his journey into the world of hospitality. No doubt she would approve of the warm, inclusive atmosphere and the attentive service. It’s a sizeable space, whose quasi-industrial looks are tempered with an abundance of hanging pendant lights, while shaded glass in front of the kitchen allows hints of the activity within. While the food is recognizably Gallic, there’s a discernible contemporary edge to the dishes, whether that’s the rewarding vichyssoise or the quail with sweetbreads. Lunch is a relatively simple affair but things go up a gear at dinner, with a six-course tasting menu offered alongside the prix fixe. Even the cocktails have something of a French accent." - Michelin Inspector

Took my parents and family to Lucie for the 4-course Le Pithivier menu with pairings. It was a wonderful meal with excellent service from all the staff (Terry, Jay, and Remi). It was especially nice of chef Arnaud to welcome us as well. While four courses may not sound like a lot, there were also amuse bouche appetizers at the beginning and additional mini desserts at the end of the meal! Non-alcoholic mocktail pairings were also prepared by the bartender for my daughters. The main course with Le Pithivier was a very generous portion of tenderloin and foie gras. It was a beautiful presentation with an umami filled port wine reduction sauce. Will definitely return to try the other dishes on offer. Thank you.

Dining at Lucie was an absolutely exceptional experience! The service was truly impeccable, delivered by staff who were incredibly attentive and genuinely welcoming. The food itself was pure art. My favorite was the scallop, which was simply amazing but every single plate was its own unique masterpiece - showcasing incredible creativity and breathtaking presentation. The wine pairing was the perfect complement, truly elevating the entire meal. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Lucie and congratulations to the chef and their entire team for creating such a memorable time!

Reasonable experience. You can tell the team here is competent technically, with some dishes tasting quite good and presentation appropriate for a tasting menu. But nothing stood out with much of a wow factor. Sometimes a meal's meat dish is a low point because it costs the most and correspondingly has high expectations on it. In this case the bison was juicy and flavorful which is a plus. The choice of creating a cocktail of a palate cleanser was maybe too much of a gamble because I thought it created its own aftertaste rather than cleansing my palate. The dessert featured caviar which surprisingly worked all right. No complaints on service, they mostly left us alone which was fine because it was dinner with friends and we had plenty to catch up on.

What an adventure for your taste buds! I had the pleasure of dinning here and I was thoroughly impressed. We had the opportunity to meet the owner and hear first hand his vision and passion for the restaurant. He leads an incredible team that takes you on a rollercoaster of tastes, paired beautifully with a myriad of wine. Presentation, layers of flavour, texture and overall experience was top notch! There is a reason this place has a Michelin Star!

We celebrated a special occasion at Lucie this past Saturday and had a wonderful experience. We opted for the five course tasting menu as we had a bit of a time constraint. Our server (I believe his name was Eric) walked us through each course in a really fun, special way. The meal was timed perfectly and each course was lovely. The 5 course menu was 3 savoury dishes and two desserts, but included other little surprises along the way. We particularly enjoyed the bison course, and the snapper. The desserts were also lovely and a great way to cap off the meal. We both had a mocktail (one of the cherry one, and one of the lemon/herb) - the cherry mocktail was excellent. We let the staff know right when we sat down that we had to leave in around two hours to make a show, and we were walking out of the restaurant exactly on time but dinner did not feel rushed at all. Really thoughtful and lovely service to accompany incredible food. Apparently the menu changes seasonally, so we will look forward to visiting again in the fall. Thank you!

The best 7 course meal I have ever had. I've been to Don Alfonso and Alo and Lucie hands down was the best food I have tasted. Flavourful, unique presentation and exceptional texture added to a mouthful of ou la la. Erik was an amazing host and server. He was fun to talk to. Extremely knowledgeable and a real pleasure throughout. Price was reasonable for what you get. My favorite dish - caviar, bison and the cloud like dessert.

Had the opportunity to visit this past weekend for a celebratory birthday dinner. The restaurant itself was incredibly inviting and intimate, which I enjoyed. The service was okay, it did feel a bit like a circus as it appeared we had 3 different people in charge of serving our table, which was confusing and often left us without explanation for each course. I wonder if one was in training? We waited a good 15 minutes for an explanation of the first course, at which point were provided a rushed run through. This was in contrary to other Michelin star recommended restaurants I’ve visited in the past in which there was a designated maître D to ensure each course was explained. The food was just okay, with the highlights being the Bison course and the dessert course featuring Ossetra Caviar, both fantastic. The third course, consisting of quail egg on a root vegetable nest was a miss for our table personally. The dish felt disjointed and was texturally not appealing. The quail egg was largely under poached and quite mucoid. We returned most of the dish unfinished. To add fuel to the flame, every course with the exception of the bison was lukewarm!? Though I am glad to have visited, and had a nice time, I feel like $1200 dollars for a seating of two was too inflated for the service and food we received and would be hesitant to go back.

Had a really nice time at Lucie and it really reminded me of fine dining in Montreal. Best dishes were the smoked trout with passion fruit sauce and the banana dessert. Every dish was carefully thought out in terms of balancing tastes and textures. Even eating the big block of foie gras (usually not a fan) was enjoyable due to the balance of bitterness and acidity of the citrus fruits. Felt decently full. Service was excellent. Not too many people on a holiday friday evening which was nice and wasn’t too loud. Would return again.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of visiting Lucie with a friend for a collaborative dinner tasting featuring a guest chef from Antler. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted exceptional--not a single one disappointed us. The ambiance was elegant and inviting, perfect for a special occasion or a memorable evening out. Lucie is definitely a high-end dining experience, so be prepared to spend over $100 per person. Our tasting menu for the evening was $350 each, but it was absolutely worth every penny. Great service as well, every dish was given an explanation of what it was and how the chef intended it to taste. Definitely a restaurant I'd recommend for a night of fine dining!

Yelp
Lucie is best visited when someone else is paying. It can get quite expensive. Some justified, the food, and some not so much, the wine and water prices. There is no denying that the artistry of the dishes is impressive and a culinary adventure. Table for four on a Saturday night. We all had the 3 course set menu. There is no a la carte options. It's either a 3 course or 6 course meal. We had the 3 for $140 each. While it's 3 courses the chef includes some additional surprises along the way that were the highlight of the meal. They also do a great job of explaining the ingredients in each dish to enhance the experience. To start, after a first chef surprise, I had the Foie Gras which was melt in your mouth good. The other three had the Venison Ravioli (Raviolo would be more accurate - only one served). They all seemed impressed. As a main we each had the Le Canard - Duck "A l'orange". This was good. Duck is always a favorite of mine. For dessert I had the Choux Pastry, Hazelnut Praline. While it didn't wow me I did enjoy it. The Chocolat dessert was likely the way to go. The dishes are all small but they did offer bread to help fill us up. We did have a mishap on the wine. First, while the menu is impressive with wines ranging to $10K a bottle I found that the options for Reds around $150 were limiting. We did choose one but it was off or as their Sommelier called it "rude". Oddly he gave the impression that they were aware of issues with this wine but still were serving it. He did graciously bring out two other bottles that were not on the menu at the same price range to choose from. The second bottle was fine but since it was brought directly from the cellar it was served too cold. Had to wait quite some time until it was drinkable. Perhaps the wine pairing at $95 each was a better way to go. Another small item that bothered me was San Pellegrino at $9 a bottle. It's a bit rich and unnecessary. I'm well aware of what that water really costs. At least get a more exotic French water if you'd like to charge that much. Service was impeccable. Ambiance wise it really feels more like it's meant for an executive business lunch - and ideally one where someone else is paying.

Yelp
This review is for the lunch prix fixe. I have been meaning to try this spot after the very positive feedback from the food forum community. Good stuff as I was so impressed that I will come back dinner soon. The ambiance is very nice though I don't recall what occupied this spot before. It's even connected to the path if you are inclined not to leave it certain parts of the year. I have egg, scallops and lemon dessert set. All of the items including the freebie of bread were very good. One can do quite bad in this area for similar priced lunch. Place holder for now for a return dinner. Highly recommended

Yelp
We went here for a birthday dinner and the ambiance is laidback and upscale. The service here is impeccable, they really pay attention to detail and go above and beyond. A lot of the staff speak French and are very knowledgeable on the food and wine. We did a 6 course tasting menu that included some free little tasters from the chef. The presentation is spectacular and all dishes used elevated ingredients. For a special occasion, I highly recommend going to Lucie!

Yelp
LOVED not only the food but the whole exceptional, fine French dining experience. My partner booked this restaurant for my birthday. We were discussing on whether we should go for Table d'Hôte (multi-course meals with only a few choices, $130) or Tasting Menu ($220 with more choices) for a few days (!) and we decided on Table d'Hote as we were interested in their cocktails (they were exceptional as well!) and wines besides the food. Also, we joked that, if we were younger - we would go for the Tasting Menu plus whatever the drinks we want - we know our stomach is not as big as a decade ago lol. We were right - SUPER satisfied with everything - food, drinks and services - the whole experience! After we ordered, enjoying the cocktails (Lucie Royale & Emotion Noire - both excellent, esp liked Emotion Noire), we were greeted by the chef. The following appetizers (not in the menu) were brought to the table before the actual course started. - Canapés (Rabbit confit) - Amuse-bouche (Buckwheat based soup with smoky bacon and roasted almond with egg croutons - OMG) - Les Entrées (Jelly with crab meat, formed cheese on top with caviar) - A wheel of Parmigiano snack Then the Table d'Hôte course started - Our choices are the following. # Les Entrées - Le Foie Gras : It came in the form of Terrine with a distinct flavor of truffle. Came with a brioche. - Le Boeuf : Tasty and enjoyable. The taste of fresh beef is enhanced by a hint of smoked seafood flavor. LOVED it. # Les Plats - Le Homard (Whole Nova Scotia lobster, confit potato, Comté cheese Armagnac and arabica sauce). I enjoyed the sauce that is condensed with lobster, brandy and a hint of coffee taste. - L'Agneau (Provencal Roasted Ontario lamb rack, green olive cream, Chickpea, reduction jus). Super tender, came in with different parts of lamb. # Les Desserts - Le Citron - Le Café Moka All the food had innovative and perfect combination of taste, flavor and textures, which not only hits the 5 senses of tastes, but stimulates visual sensation as well - all the presentations were meticulously artistic. At the end, we were served with a complimentary dessert for me, a birthday gal (lol) - marshmallows and chocolate - upscale version of smore - and a lovely birthday card! The gentleman who attended our table was entertaining and friendly. The sommelier was knowledgeable and her suggestion was to the point. Food was served well timed. One of the best dining experiences that I ever had. Thank you!

Yelp
I was visiting Toronto for a work trip. After looking at local restaurants and not being particularly impressed with the selections, I opted for southern French cuisine, one of my favorites. They had a low key 4 course tasting menu at the bar that caught my eye. It came with a bunch of extra's from the chef. Throughout the meal, I kept googling to see if they had a Michelin star. I've dined at so many and this one had all the components. Great service, cool ambience, and creatively delicious food. One way I've always found food to be Michelin level is that each bite brings forth flavors that change throughout the duration of the bite. This one definitely had it. Pricing was great for this level of food. I would definitely experience this before they get that Michelin star, because it'll be at least double.

Yelp
amazing ambiance and hospitality service, you truly feel so welcomed and taken care of the entire night ! we ordered the table d'hote and enjoyed every dish that came our way! the lobster and duck were among the best we've ever had and was explained in detail before every serving.

Yelp
I have not had such a lovely gastronomic experience in toronto for a while! Just amazing. I can't recommend enough. Service was top, and the food literally left me speechless (hazelnut dessert). What perfection. Highly, highly recommend - you will NOT be disappointed.

Yelp
Went here with friends. Service was top notch from the hostess to sommelier and wait staff. The food is intricate and very pretty. The dishes were good taste wise and good deal for 3 course meal at $130 with some dishes needing additional cost. Ordered the beef tartare which was ok as well as duck. The pecan dessert was the best out of all 3.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate Valentine's Day and I hadn't had French cuisine for quite a while, so I was pleasantly surprised by the experience that I had here. We had a special tasting menu for Valentine's and I thought it was slightly underwhelming. One of the courses contained a vegetable broth and it was a bit too salty for my taste. The 2 most memorable courses by far were the quail and rabbit, which complimented each other well. What redeemed some of the more underwhelming courses was the beautiful presentation of them. As a foodie, I had a great time just taking pictures of each course as they came! The service was impeccable and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout the whole experience. It was clear that they were all very knowledgeable and paid attention to every little detail. Overall, the experience was quite pleasant and I'll be back to try the regular tasting menu!

Yelp
Each part of the lunch was excellent. Caesar salad, ratatouille, mashed potatoes, salmon, baguette - all truly excellent. Service was simultaneous, outstanding and friendly. The only reason this is 4 but not 5 stars is because I wasn't told my salmon dish was cold. It was still excellent but I wasn't expecting a good dish. This is an experience to be savored!

Yelp
The food, service, attention to detail, and overall atmosphere was incredible. Having each of the courses presented and described to us was as interesting as the food was delicious!

Yelp
Ah, la grande cuisine française!!! Merci Yannick Bigourdan for returning French gastronomy to toronto. The menu features both eye pleasing and mouth watering presentations with impeccable service in the great tradition of la grande gastronomie. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is a somewhat cold and concrete room which does not do Justice to the warmth of the food and a smaller wine list that will hopefully expand as Lucie takes its rightful place among Toronto's top tables. Bravo! P

Yelp
Went for my husbands birthday! The food and wait staff were amazing. Toronto needed more French cuisine, and I am glad we finally got it! Will be back!

Yelp
I have been to multiple French restaurants and honestly this one wasn't the best. Food tasted average and our palate was left craving for more depth in flavours. The service however was top notch!

Yelp
A culinary gem! This modern French restaurant flawlessly marries old-world charm and contemporary flair. With each dish flavors come alive in exquisite harmony. The ambiance is chic, service attentive, and presentation an art form. For a taste of innovative French cuisine, this spot is an absolute winner.
