Google
Visited Lucille for the first time today for my birthday breakfast it did not disappoint! Atmosphere is relaxed. Cafe is clean and decor adds to the ambiance. Service was stellar, friendly and accommodating. Ordering is simple, straightforward and service was fast even with a full house. Food was excellent. I ordered their gorgeous and delicious pink chai latte and their blueberry bread pudding. My goodness! Thank you Lucille staff for a delightful and sweet birthday brunch. We can’t wait to go back.

Google
Welcoming place with customer service that feels authentic. Small details from the fresh flowers to the antique plates made breakfast a very personal experience. The coffee was great and the baked treat was delicious. We had breakfast sandwiches and I can't say enough about the bread. The biscuit is probably the best in the county. A very clean place, great food, and really nice staff deserve above 5 stars. The experience has made us want to return on a regular basis and become a regular patron.

Google
Everything about this place was so nice and comforting. From the atmosphere to the food to the service. They allow dogs on the patio and even brung out a water bowl for my girls. The food was exceptionally good and tasted quality. We'll definitely be back !

Google
incredibly fresh and delicious. Awesome portions. Freshly-fresh sandwhich with egg, arugula, and pickled veg is amazing. Staff is so kind and welcoming. Second time in Modesto and third time coming here, can’t wait to come back

Google
I love Lucille! Their coffee is amazing and all the food I’ve tried there so far has been delicious! The standard iced coffee (not in photo) is so good! All the staff is so friendly and the place has a fun vibe. It’s not huge, so it can get a little busy at times, but definitely worth it!

Utkarsh J.

Google
Such a beautiful little spot tucked in the corner! The staff are so kind and welcoming, and they even remade my coffee exactly how I like it. The whole experience was so pleasant, I’d totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy breakfast or coffee stop.

Google
I recently visited Lucille, and while it was busy, we were able to find seats outside, which was a nice option. It’s first come, first serve, so you seat yourself, but it wasn’t an issue for us. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. The staff was incredibly courteous and attentive, making the experience even better. It’s refreshing to have a charming spot in Modesto that not only serves amazing food but also delivers excellent customer service. Highly recommend!

Google
Went here on a whim and this place is just a dream - food was absolutely delicious, atmosphere was welcoming, and staff were fantastic. This is definitely my new favorite spot in downtown.

Yelp
Food was so great that we forgot to take a picture. Service super attentive and the suggestion for food on point! Ambiance is cute and comfortable. Great way to start Black Friday work! Thanks Modesto!

Yelp
This place is great smaller very cosy and cute atmosphere with first come first serve indoor & outdoor seating. You order at the front counter and your food is delivered to your seat. The staff is warm, welcoming and friendly. I ordered a Freshy fresh breakfast sandwich and added over easy eggs and bacon and a large iced vanilla latte. They were both great, esthetically and Nom nommy (delicious) lol, the different flavors in the sandwich were refreshing and different which made it really standout. I sat at the bar, the wait wasn't long at all. And before I left I ordered a large dirty pink chai lattee to go. Also amazing The mixed vintage plates are adorable and they also have a great wine selection to grab on the way out. This is a great busy spot and I would definitely recommend and will be back!

Yelp
It's been a while since I have been here, but I was reminded how much I love Lucille! It is such a charming spot with so much attention to detail. The service goes above and beyond! Everyone has a great big smile on their face and is so friendly! Once again, the coffee hit the spot, and the food was delightful. Their portions are huge! My boys tried their blueberry "soda" which was a hit. It was so refreshing! We spoke to the owner and found out the meaning behind the name, and it was a very sweet story. Lucille is named after her husband's grandmother. P.S. the biscuits and raspberry jam is to die for!!

Yelp
Awesome little spot! They gave my kids coloring page and they were completely chill. Awesome service fast and great food

Yelp
Omg! The best gluten free sandwich I've ever had! This gluten free bread is only recognizable by size but otherwise is nothing like any gf bread you've had. It's crispy, chewy, airy, holds together well (hardly any crumbs on my plate) and best of all tastes amazing! Because of the size, my one sandwich was basically 2 full sandwiches! This place is such a gem! Lovely staff, nice atmosphere, and the best food! I will be back ... probably tomorrow!

Yelp
Had a nice breakfast with my mom here on a Monday morning. Found street parking right out front and was greeted kindly by the staff. We both got a South x Southwest breakfast sandwich. Mine was kind of falling apart as soon as it was put down so I used a knife and fork. It was pretty tasty! We were also provided with hot sauce for an extra kick of spice. This is a really cute spot with a casual feel. Perfect place to catch up with a friend over coffee. I'd be interested in coming back to try more from Lucille's.

Yelp
Felt like fall a bit in Modesto even though it was 75 degrees. Though downtown is not much to look at there are way too many bail bonds within the same block. The food is amazing and so is the service. Yes it's pricy, but what isn't now? It's a nice treat you can give yourself every now and then. The restaurant is certainly a delicious treat to enjoy.
google avatar

Yelp
We love coming here for breakfast whenever we get the chance. It's easily my favorite breakfast spot. The food is delicious, and the staff is amazing and welcoming.

Yelp
It's been a few months since we came but today on an overcast Monday morning we decided to pop in. They were busy but service was excellent. They messed up on my wife's request for no avocado on her fresh and fresh and quickly made her another one which she loved. A few seconds later they brought us a complimentary coffee cake which was delicious. I had the OMG BEC and what I believe to be the butter spray on top of the brioche bun is just decadent! Cajun potatoes have to be the best breakfast potatoes ever, even better than the ones I make, and mine are bomb!! I have to figure out how they make these.... Crispy, flavorful and soft inside, just perfect. Had a latte and wife had their drip coffee. Simple and delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
When I went, it was very busy. The whole patio was full, I had someone about 5 inches from me so if you are claustrophobic, just understand that this is a very small café. Cute vibes inside, good coffee as well.

Yelp
Today we were looking for a different setting and found it, we arrived at Lucille's I will say from the moment we walk in the door, we were greeted with a warm welcome, all the staff is very friendly and do their very best to give you a lovely experience, they have achieved that with our experience, the food is very delicious. We had Benny on the bun, a cappuccino, and mocha. sat and chatted in a lovely environment and we will be returning. A.S.A.P.

Yelp
When can I come back????? That's the real question. Such a cute lil spot! The food is amazing, all their breads are freshly baked. Everything is high quality. We got sandwiches and an artichoke dip that was out of this world. Outdoor seating and dog friendly for a big plus!
google avatar

Yelp
We found this little jewel of a breakfast/ lunch place . Small but very cute and airy . We ordered our Bennie Sandwich open faced . A order of Cajun Potatoes, Coffee and a OJ at the counter . They give you a Number and serve it at your table . Or you can get to go . The bread the sandwich was on, was so soft and fresh. Eggs pouched perfectly. Since we had sandwiches open faced. I think I would ask for more hollandaise on the side next time . The potatoes were nicely seasoned and crunch - center nice and moist. Nice fresh Coffee . I took a sip of my hunnies OJ - tasted freshly squeezed. Staff super friendly . Really yummy and relaxed atmosphere:)

Yelp
Cute little place! Sat on the table top. Service was fast and attentive! Which made my experience more enjoyable and memorable. I got their "Benny on Bun" which is their version of egg Benedict . It was good, but for me the bun was a little off but not too bad. Overall, totally worth the price and experience. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Had been wanting to try this place out for a while. The place is super cute the vibes are cute however it was really crowded you have to go inside order first and then find a table to sit/ wait for others to be done if all tables are taken. I also was a bit shocked/disappointed with the amount of serving of the mimosa $10 for half cup of mimosa. For 1 sandwich 1 bagel 1 mimosa $50. The tables outside were also not very sturdy however I will say I do like the vintage plates in which the food was served and the waitresses were very attentive. Parking was easy for being in downtown Modesto.

Yelp
This is such a cute place! The food was amazing! We ordered the Champion Breakfast platter with over medium eggs, sausage and sourdough bread (5/5), and another champion breakfast with over easy eggs, bacon and wheat bread (5/5). Yum! For bevs, we ordered a London fog with a shot of espresso (5/5) and a hot Carmel latte (5/5). Perfect! The service was good. It's a BUSY place, so a little challenging to find a seat. You place your order at the register and are given a number. When your order is ready they bring your food and drinks to the table. Overall, great food & super cute place! We'll be back to try their lunch menu.
google avatar

Shawna M.

Yelp
Quaint bistro like atmosphere with five quality food. Fresh and made to order with a smile every time. You would be missing out on an amazing experience if you don't stop here. Coffee, tea? No problem. Wine? They got you. I usually get the Benny on a bun because their poached eggs and hollandaise sauce are amazing. I'll will definitely be back.
google avatar

Claudia A.

Yelp
Try the champion platter if we haven't done so already. Especially, if you're hungry. It's a huge platter, especially if you add the potatoes . Pink drink was yummy, and definitely different than any drink I've had before. I hope when it's warmer over the summer, I'll get a chance to sit outside. The tables out there have more space than the ones inside. I have come here a couple times, and I always come to the same thought: they need to expand their floor space. They have these tiny white tables for those sitting in the back hallway. I hope that one day they're able to purchase the space next to them, because the line of people from the counter to the door is so crowded, it takes away the small town cafe-feel. Seating is first come first serve so once you see a spot, claim it first then check out the menu.

Yelp
Very nice place in the heart of downtown Modesto. I was actually surprised that the place wasn't too big. Very limited seating. Me and my son got lucky and snagged a table outside since it was a very nice morning! All the workers were very nice and had great positive attitudes. Unfortunately they ran out of biscuits which I was looking forward to, guess that gives me a reason to come back. Food was great. My son loved the flavor on his toast that had cream cheese, jam, granola and berries. My sandwich was also very delicious! Would recommend for anyone looking for a great breakfast/brunch!

Yelp
We have not had anything that we were disappointed with. Marissa and Wyatt have an amazing touch with their kindness and great food.

Katherine F.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place since they opened. It was well worth the wait. The food was AMAZING! I have some food allergies and they were prepared to accommodate. I ordered the "Freshy Fresh" sandwich with gluten free bread. It was the perfect compilation of sweetness, spice, and acidity. The goat cheese pickled onions... there just aren't enough words. I also ordered a sugar free vanilla oat milk latte which was perfect and beautiful. The staff was sooooo awesome continuously checking in with us. We sat on the quaint little patio. The plates were sooo beautiful. Definitely 100% recommend! You won't be disappointed

Yelp
Amazing service! I forgot that people could be so kind in food service, I was very impressed by the quality of the service and the attentiveness of the staff. I've had amazing food and coffee here on other days but yesterday I just got some sides for a birthday breakfast. They obviously had no idea it was my birthday but I still felt so special just by the way they treated me. It gets busy! (Rightfully so) and so if you're going with a group you may want to get there early to secure a seat. This place is so cute and the atmosphere is incredible. Hats off to the staff and chefs! I'll definitely be back and would recommend to anyone looking for a cafe in downtown Modesto
google avatar

Yelp
Service, food, and drinks are amazing. Just know it's super busy! Very small, so not a whole lot room to move around! The pink chai is one of the best coffee drinks I've had!
google avatar

Yelp
Facility clean Food was amazing and served fast Decor was put together very well Customer service was good.

Yelp
Great place for gluten free option. Service was great. Place is small, so if you have anxiety, it might be an issue. Lunch is super busy which means it's a great little hidden gem.

Yelp
This review is long overdue, but I just have to say how much my husband and I love Lucille. It's hands-down the best breakfast spot in Modesto--better than so many places we've tried out of town too. Since moving to the area, we've been here twice, and I can confidently say their service is amazing, and their food and drinks are spectacular. The space itself is incredibly charming, blending modern touches with a soft, feminine aesthetic. The cozy, cheerful ambiance is made even better by the freshly cut flowers on every table, but most of all, the genuinely warm, welcoming vibe of the baristas, servers, and staff. Now, onto the food. I believe they make their breads and pastries from scratch, and you can absolutely taste the difference. The French Toast is crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and downright decadent. The South x Southwest with its freshly made biscuit was incredible--just like the French Toast, the biscuit was buttery, moist, and held up beautifully. The Benny and O.MG. B.E.C. sandwiches were served on a soft, delicious brioche bun, and every component was fresh, hearty, and perfectly balanced. While extra sauces aren't necessary, the local hot sauces from Extraordinary Food & Beverages add a great kick of heat and acidity if you're looking for something extra. Love seeing local businesses supporting each other! The drinks were just as tasty. The Pink Chai Latte was unique, with floral and earthy tones I've never experienced in a chai before--and it's pink!! thanks to a special chemical reaction, which we thought was so cool. My Matcha Latte was excellent--you could actually taste the matcha, and it wasn't overly sweet, pairing perfectly with my savory sandwich. According to my husband, his coffee-based drinks (the Forced March and The Standard) were both fantastic as well. TL;DR: Go to Lucille--you won't regret it!

Yelp
Patronized Lucille based on reviews and was not disappointed! Had a breakfast sandwich with one of the best biscuits ever baked. The inside of the restaurant is quite small with tables for 2 but there is outdoor seating. Service was great and I will return,

Yelp
What a hidden gem located druggy outside of downtown Modesto. Really stumbled on this place and so glad I did. Very quaint little place that serves breakfast and lunch options and I wound consider from an elevated flavor profile. Inside is very hip and cool while spic and span clean. They also have a small patio area as well but a little too cold on our visit. It's a walk up and order type of spot which is fine with me but service has to also be there and at this place it 100% does! The folks working here are amazing and over the top friendly. For lunch my sandwich while simple was awesome! Consisted of turkey, bacon, chipotle mayo and an avocado spread with some heat from jalapeños served on this amazing roll. This was a 5 out of 5! What a great find and would for sure come back and would recommend anyone else do the same!

Yelp
This place is a real surprise for Modesto. It reminded me of some of my favorite breakfast /brunch places in the Bay Area. Great ambiance, outstanding service (despite being very busy), and great food! I definitely recommend giving Lucille's your business.
google avatar

Benita R.

Yelp
Food is good. Customer service is great. Indoor and outdoor dining is excellent. Love the purse hooks under the tables.

Yelp
I wanted a light breakfast and happened to be in Modesto. I yelped and this little quaint spot came up. I had the fancy toast and my wife had the Breakfast of Champions. We had a mocha and a mimosa. Everything was delicious. The place is super tiny which makes it more desirable to be in there. If you catch a table you can order at the counter and they will bring you your food. Staff are all very nice. It felt so homey and made me feel so welcomed. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Lucille's has become one of our rotating breakfast, brunch, lunch spots and need to give an update on my original review. The customer service is unmatched! Everyone is always so kind and very welcoming. Even in the busiest of times. The decor is so cute! Love all vases with real flowers on each table. The vintage plates used to serve are so adorable. The food.... Ugh...... SO GOOD! Their in-house made biscuits are what we dream of and one of the main reasons we have GDL as our rotating breakfast spots. Even if you don't want to order anything else, get a biscuit with the butter and jam. Literally drool worthy. Their coffee menu is also really good. They serve both hot and iced coffee's. I learned that their large drink comes with 4 shots of espresso, so if you're into that, come get their large latte's. The small drinks come with 2 shots of espresso. (There is also matcha, chai and other tea's for the non-coffee drinkers.) There is limited indoor and outdoor seating available. It does get pretty packed and at times, there will be a wait for tables. However, I also see a lot of online/phone orders for pick up. Overall, come and give this place a try!
google avatar

Nadia Y.

Yelp
I attended a work event in the area and I found this place on Yelp which was in the walking distance. I ordered the P & H sandwich with no bacon but after a long wait and when my food arrived, I noticed the sandwich had indeed bacon in it so I had to remove it myself. The waitress didn't even approach me once to ask how the food was while I noticed waitresses attended other tables more than once actually. Though the food was decent, the service lacked. I won't be returning.
google avatar

Chandni G.

Yelp
This is such a cute and clean place. We ordered THEE P and H lunch sandwich and the Lombardo sandwich. It was delicious, the bread was so fresh. And their service is so kind, fast and courteous. Bailey our server was so kind. They take phone orders as well.
google avatar

Margarita R.

Yelp
This place just has such warm, fuzzy vibes... I love it! The South X Southwest was yummy. Comfort food with excellent, personable customer service makes this my new favorite breakfast/brunch place in Modesto!

Yelp
Such a fun surprise! We were driving past Modesto on a weekend and the family was hungry so we decided to try something new. Yelp said great things about Lucille and no surprise...Yelp was right! The staff was super friendly. It was crowded but they got us seated inside and then gave us the opportunity to move outside as it was a beautiful day. The Champion Breakfast platter was amazing! It even came with a side of fruit that was so fresh and delicious. Sorry no photos but I couldn't help myself it was sooo good. English muffins are great but the sourdough bread is too good to pass up. My vegetarian wife was in love with their baked goods and the Early Bird sandwich. They also have a blueberry waffle dish that is unique and worth trying. They have three hot sauces two from a company called yellow bird. The yellow bird sauces are very unique and complement the food well. If you're in Modesto, swing by and thank me later!

Yelp
Food is great. Friendly service and it's super cute as well. Would recommend this to family and friends.

Yelp
Big city feel in the heart of Modesto . On the twelve't hundred block of downtown , on H street , you'll find this amazing gem. The outdoor patio gives this place its initial cool vibes impression , filled with patrons from open to close , you can always expect to see someone you know . Inside you'll find a node to the past while its updates feel warm and welcoming ! The food is what really elevates and separates this "café hybrid " from others , from their biscuit's that are constantly sold out , to some of their staples like the P&H (a take on a turkey bacon avocado) are what truly brings this place up to date with a palette teasing menu that will have you coming back week after week . The ambience , food and service is the perfect amalgam that'll have this place around for years to come !

Cicily N.

Yelp
Super cute restaurant for brunch located in downtown. My little sister loves this place and wanted me to try it with her. You order at the counter and then pick an empty table where the staff will come with your food. I ordered a vanilla latte and Lombardo sandwich. I liked the latte, it was too sweet and I could still taste the coffee. The sandwich was delicious but a bit salty due to the meats. It can become quite messy when eating the sandwiches so be sure to get extra napkins. I would love to try their other sandwiches!
google avatar

Lynn D.

Yelp
This little cafe is adorable! They have indoor and outdoor seating and service was great! The food was fresh and delicious. I had the Fancy Avocado toast-so good! And a really refreshing iced tea-highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Upon entry my wife and I were ushered to our table. We waited for a while before we received our hot water and cold water drinks and even more time before we ordered out and received our food. All staff were friendly and helpful. This was a nice clean light place for breakfast and lunch.

Yelp
I visited for the first time yesterday, Sat Apr 26, and I had the "champion" breakfast platter: eggs over medium, sausage patty, and English muffin with REAL butter and housemade jam! EXcellent comfort food. The fruit was not precut soggy melon chunks out of a bag. This was FRESH chunks of apple, pinepple, tangerine sections, and a few raspberries. Some website photos show other variations with strawberries. I look forward to coming back again to try the Early Bird or Benny on a Bun. I'm confused because some of the pictures show both halves of a bun with 2 eggs open-faced, some show one egg on one half bun, and some photos show one egg with both bun halves as a sandwich. Hmm.. if I can find someone to dine with me, we could share a full order AND a side of CRISPY lemon-pepper potatoes- with extra hollandaise sauce. :D YUM! It was busy when I went in around 1pm. The place is cozy and intimate, but not "cramped". I sat inside, but there is also outdoor seating. I saw the dishes that other people ordered: sandwiches, breakfasts, etc. Everyone was enjoying their food and having a good time. The place cleared out by 2pm. [I eat slow, and I chilled for a while with my iced tea and a crossword puzzle book.] Then 3 O'clock rolled around. As they were closing, I had a blast chatting with the staff about the sugar syrups they were making and the various soups they prepare, and good conversation in general. [HUMBOLDT County!] I gotta try a bunch of things on the menu. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!

Yelp
A Slice of Heaven with a Side of Chic! If angels had a favorite brunch spot, this would be it. The food here isn't just good--it's the kind of meal that makes you want to call your grandma and tell her that she's got competition. Every bite is a love letter to your taste buds, but also to your health. Yes, you heard that right: nutritious and delicious. I didn't even know that was possible until now. The ambiance? Think Parisian café meets a hygge-inspired Pinterest board. It's the kind of quiet chic that makes you feel like you could be anyone from a mysterious novelist to someone who definitely owns too many candles. And the service? Top-notch, darling. The staff is so attentive, they could probably sense my caffeine withdrawal before I even knew it myself. Seriously, they anticipate your needs like they have psychic abilities. If you're not already booking a table, then what are you even doing with your life?
google avatar

Yelp
I can go on and on about this place but you wont read my long review so I will just say, go visit Lucille! Period! I would love to gatekeep this place but I wont even though it will mean longer wait times but it's absolutely worth the wait! Everything on their menu is mouthwatering! From the H Street Block to the Trusty Steed, their Lombardo and their Pink Chai Latte!!! The owner and the employees make you feel like you're at a family gathering, always greet you with the biggest and most contagious smile!

Yelp
A BLT made me write this review. So, I've been coming to Lucille for a couple years now. The food is ALWAYS exquisite and the coffee is my favorite in the area by a landslide. The quality, consistency, and just wonderful flavors and atmosphere keep me coming back. Today, I decided to try something new..the BLT. Now, I was just looking for something light but with protein. I like BLTs sometimes, but I definitely don't love them. When I say I actually GASPED. The first bite was shock. I genuinely had NO IDEA it would be that good. The next was pure ecstasy. It's by far the best BLT I've ever had. I'm starting to question if it's actually just the best *sandwich* I've ever had. No photo because I ate it all before writing this review.

Yelp
GO HERE!!! Try everything and add extra black garlic aioli. Best breakfast sandwich in Modesto.

Yelp
Came here after completing the 2Mile walk with a Cop community event, I'm sooo glad to finally have given it a try! It definitely did not disappoint customer service was excellent, the food was soo delicious! The ambiance was eh for me, not much space in the sitting area but that's not deal breaker for me but I can see it being a bother to others. Will definitely be revisiting! I spent $50 2 breakfast sandwiches, 2 coffees and a Coffee cake & tip. Parking is off the street and keep i mind they are located on a one way street. They take apple pay & Card payments.
google avatar

Kathy G.

Yelp
Cute interior. Staff very welcoming, helpful and attentive. I had high hopes for the biscuit breakfast sandwich, but for me just way too much mayo - though it is seasoned. If you're not a Mayo fan, either ask for light or none. Almost took off a star for the overwhelming Mayo, but realize that's me. I don't live local anymore, but if in town for appointments, I would try again. Coffee was excellent.

Yelp
Breath of fresh air for the Modesto area. Modern classics on the menu and delicious cold or hot coffee/espresso options. The server went out of their way to accommodate my family and provided awesome service and was attentive to others needs creating an impressive ambiance for the area. I will be returning to try some more goodies when I can, I recommend!
