The food was a 4, but rounding up to 5, and I'll tell you why. I'm not a bbq expert. In facts it's been a long, long time since I had some so I have nothing to compare Lucille's to.
We were nearby one day and came here for lunch. It's a decent sized interior that can handle many diners, but on a weekday, they were almost empty. We were seated right away and our server, Brittany came by shortly after.
The menu has many combos, specials and Al la carte items, plus sides and appetizers. We did our own type of sampler, a 3 meat combo that includes one side. Plus, an order of their new appetizer, the burnt ends, then added the corn pudding as an extra appetizer.
Each table gets biscuits and apple butter. The butter is mildly sweet and does add a bit of creamy flavor to the biscuits. The 3 meats of the combo we chose are: short ribs, rib tips and brisket. The ribs are tender, slightly fat and nice flavor. The rib tips were recommended by several people and were great with a smoky flavor. The brisket were bland and on the dry side, which I heard is a common thing. There are 3 types of bbq sauces on the table to rescue the bland items.m, but neither really helped.
The burnt ends are on the firmer side, some resembling a thick cut of jerky but they are good! Bold flavors, slightly salty and smoky. Their bbq beans are sweet and pairs well with the savory meats. The corn pudding is basically a very moist cornbread that you eat with utensils. Served with green onions and apple butter, but it's just fine without it.
Our server was absolutely great. I think they should feature her in training videos for all restaurants. She brought us warm wet towels to clean off our sticky fingers and checked up on us.
I think the food was pretty good, at a solid 4+, but the service we got from Brittany made the lunch experience a 4.5, so that's why I'm rounding up to 5.
We took some leftovers home and it had me craving for more, so it's likely
I'm going back.
