Hidden Gem with a Big Heart – Lucky Bean Coffee House Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t shout for your attention—and Lucky Bean Coffee House is exactly that. Tucked away on Mackinac Island, this cozy little café is wonderfully understated… and all the better for it. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like I had stumbled upon something special. No flash, no fuss—just the warm, comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a vibe that makes you want to take your time and stay awhile. I ordered a cup of coffee, and let me tell you—it was delicious. Smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed, it felt like a little love letter in a mug. Even better? It was decently priced, especially for an island that can sometimes lean touristy. There’s something charming about Lucky Bean’s simplicity. It doesn’t try to be trendy or overly curated—it just focuses on good coffee, good energy, and good people. Every part of the experience felt genuine and delightful, from the friendly service to the cozy atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes you smile without trying too hard. If you're visiting Mackinac Island and want a little escape from the bustle, Lucky Bean Coffee House is a must. Grab a cup, find a seat, and soak in the quiet magic of a place that’s perfect just the way it is. ☕🌿✨ #BDH

Google
Best coffee shop on the island! The baristas were very knowledgeable about coffee which was a relief after three days of shops that didn’t know what a traditional cortado or latte was… This place has skilled baristas and great coffee. This is truly the only place I had a good coffee while in the UP and Mackinac Island.

Google
Delicious coffee and yummy blueberry muffin. Great way to start the day on the island. Steady stream of customers. Appears to be a favorite with the locals judging from the friendly greetings among the customers and lingering chats after running into each other. Cheerful vibe speaks well of the staff, quality of service and food and beverage.

Google
Hands down the best coffee on the island. This place truly feels like a real coffee shop for the locals. It’s a tad on the expensive side, but definitely worth it considering the other coffee options that are available. The staff are super friendly and all drinks are prepared fresh. There’s seating indoors and outdoors, with free wifi as well.

Google
Cute cafe on the island! Really nice vibe, and great coffee 🙏

Google
Great coffee at a reasonable price. I appreciated how much the server knew about coffee! Usually they aren’t that knowledgeable in my experience at a touristy destination. Definitely worth checking out if you like well made coffee.

Google
We stopped several times during our stay on the island. We loved each coffee more than the last. Staff was very friendly and put a lot of thought and care into every cup. A very small, local shop that deserves all the praise it gets.

Google
Wonderful local coffee shop on the Island. Just slightly off of Main Street but it's a far superior option to the major chain coffee shop. Staff were friendly, service was efficient, the coffee was top quality and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We visited Mackinac Island and found this amazing coffee shop. Friendly employees and excellent coffee. We went back many times during our stay. You need to try this place if you're ever on the island!

Yelp
Loved this hidden gem off of the main strip on Mackinaw Island! It was a rather cold May day and we were looking for a hot drink to sip and hold in our hands while we walked around the island and this was the perfect place! The service was excellent and fast! We ordered the classic hot chocolate and ube latte and both were delicious and hit the spot! We would recommend a stroll off the main street for a stop at this cozy shop!

Yelp
Loved my hot Bed Head latte on a breezy Mackinac day! It wasn't too sweet and it was hot but not too hot to keep me from sipping it right away. Cute cafe behind the main st with a full coffee house menu. I saw Oat and Almond as milk alternatives.

Yelp
In preparing for our vacation to Mackinac Island, the first thing I bookmarked on Yelp was this spot--because good vacation coffee is a must. Came here on our first morning on island and we were so happy we did. It's not on the main street, but only a block or so off of it. It was filled with locals. I took it as a sign it was going to be good. It was. I ordered their Miel, which was a honey latte with the loveliest hint of cinnamon. My husband got their lavender latte, which was one of the better lavender lattes I've ever had (I tried it). It was a delight. The service was friendly. They're busy, so it takes a bit to get your beverage--but trust me, the wait is worth it. Get to it!

Yelp
We wanted some coffee for our early morning bike ride and wanted to try something different than Starbucks. Lucky Bean was the first recommended place, and it was about a 5-10 minute wait, but worth it! The barista was very helpful helping us figure out what to try. I had the Betty White, which is white mocha and rum flavor. Not too sweet, just the perfect coffee drink without being too sugary or too bitter! My brothers tried the chai tea and a regular latte with rum flavor and they were both good too! Cute little place to sit outside without being on the Main Street.

Yelp
We dropped in for coffee and snacks. We had a variety coffee drinks and a few snacks. The service was friendly and efficient. The seating is very limited.

Genny B.

Yelp
What can I say, I've been coming to this coffee house for over 10 years and I'm absolutely in love with it. From the different and unique variety of coffee drinks, to just plain bean drip coffee, It's all amazing! Each day I try to get a different coffee and all of them have been top-notch. This is probably the best coffee house I've ever been to in the United States. Locally owned by the amazing Carolyn and staffed by amazing barista's If you go to Mackinac Island, you must stop in at Lucky Bean!
google avatar

Yelp
This review is made purely over hot cocoa. This hot chocolate is bland and lacking in any sweetness and chocolateness and is probably not made with milk. And altho the service was fast and the atmosphere cozy the hot chocolate was very mid.

Yelp
Came here for a coffee after biking around the island around 9 am. I got the iced honey rosemary lavender latte and it was DELICIOUS. My mom got just a regular cold brew and said it was very good. Even as early as 9, the place was PACKED. However, they were a well-oiled machine in terms of efficiency. Everyone working was very nice and the drinks came out relatively quickly considering how busy it was. I would highly recommend this coffee shop.

Yelp
I was greeted with a warm smile as soon as I reached the counter. I ordered a 12 oz Bed Head and enjoyed drinking it at the Great Lawn. The shop displays items for sale (earrings, glassware), as well as some breakfast items.
google avatar

Pablo M.

Yelp
Best extra hot latte! Smooth. Sweet enough. Perfect! Service was great and the baristas were seriously focused. Not much room inside but if you order and wait outside they find you quickly. We'll be going back!
google avatar

Kourtney S.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped into the Lucky Bean for coffee one morning. It was delicious and the staff were super friendly. It was our first trip to Mackinac Island and we really had no plans for the day. The barista gave us a great recommendation for a hike. We saw great views and experienced more of the island than we would have otherwise. Definitely appreciate him for that and the good drinks!
google avatar

Cristina B.

Yelp
I've heard such good things about Lucky Bean and finally was able to stop in during my last trip! Due to Covid-19 they only allow a small few into the coffeehouse at one time. No big deal! They have a menu outside of the door, as well as one inside the shop. Because it was chilly during my trip I really wanted something hot. Although nothing on the menu said they offer iced drinks or blended drinks. I'm sure they do! I opted for the Caramel Sea Salt latte. Very warm and tasty! The flavor was amazing! Perfect for keeping you warm during an early morning hike. The customer service was outstanding. You simply order inside and a kind employee brought it outside to you. The also sell their own merchandise, which consisted of mugs and sweatshirts. Very cute. I will be back next year!

Yelp
This is the best coffee on this island and arguably in Michigan. It's all they do. Coffee. No fudge, no Bike rentals, just great coffee and tea. Go here.
google avatar

Lucy G.

Yelp
Tucked away from the main downtown area, service was good, very friendly people, gave us suggestions for the kids. Got a latte, frappe and a cold brew and we all loved the frappe best out of all. The cold brew was a little bland for me, the latte was delicious.

Trevor P.

Yelp
Great coffee! Very friendly staff who care about quality. Comfortable atmosphere with a relaxed vibe
google avatar

Yelp
I'm super picky with my coffee, so I try to stick to little shops as they tend to give me what I want more often! The lucky bean was no different as it met and surpassed my expectations! I left a "Touched by Nik" car there and I hope someone finds it! :D
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
LOVE Lucky Bean! It was our go-to place on the island. We love the fact that there is another option besides a big chain (...we all know what I'm talking about...). Their coffee is great and so is the variety of different drinks they make. With COVID, they did a good job at social distancing. There were clear signs and markings on the floor too to help guide us customers. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Don C.

Yelp
Great coffee and friendly service! The only place I go for coffee on the Island. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Best coffee on the island, hands down. Welcoming staff and cute decor. I enjoyed my Americano and my cappuccino.

Sarah G.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop with friendly employees. Our carriage tour driver recommended Lucky Bean saying it was the best coffee on the island.

Doree K.

Yelp
At home I'm a Starbucks girl, through and through. But on our annual trip to Mackinac Island, we begin our mornings at Lucky Bean. One street off downtown, this is a cute little gem with delicious coffee. The owner is almost always there, greeting locals and visitors. The seasonal drinks are unique and delicious. Blueberry and lavender. Raspberry, jasmine and mint. And cereal milk lattes. Don't miss it.
google avatar

Oliver J.

Yelp
Closest thing to specialty coffee on an island of tourist meh, and pretty good! A relief to find a decent approach to coffee for those with larger-city standards.
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
This was our first stop on the Island! They had a great selection of breakfast items and coffee. I got an iced caramel latte. It was great! Sweet without too much sweet and a wonderful flavor. However, my husband got medium roast black coffee and the flavor was pretty awful. I'd definitely recommend the espresso & drinks, but you might go elsewhere if you're looking for a smooth black cup of joe.

Donna F.

Yelp
Coffee is god - and you can worship her here. So delicious- and you can buy a coffee mug or shirt while you wait for your order. Best coffee in town.
google avatar

Aliya S.

Yelp
I ordered the mango smoothie and it was delicious. The 24oz was very big and a great price. I also appreciated the shop practicing covid 19 safety guidelines appropriately.
google avatar

Katherine S.

Yelp
Small but nice setup. Drinks we got were really good. Service was good and they were friendly.
google avatar

Marin C.

Yelp
A co-worker had a fancy travel mug from here. My reasoning for visiting I guess. The latte was good. Order inside from the counter and they bring it out to you.
google avatar

Lemon L.

Yelp
Loved this coffee shop, the walk to it was beautiful and there were lots of flowers along the street, their dirty hippy & honey lavender latte (HLL) were amazing. Their shops vibe was very modern and all the workers seemed pretty professional, their service was pretty fast too.

Rockey A.

Yelp
Great coffee on the island and a fair price. I tried most places and this is a great option

C W.

Yelp
Best coffee on the island locally owned, not a chain . Friendly atmosphere. Located just one block back from Main street.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
So Good!!! Great fall fro is and they were perfectly sweet, unlike Starbucks over sugared drinks, these were the perfect balance of all flavors. Pumpkin Carmel Macchiato (iced), Pumpkin Mocha Latte (hot) and a Carmel Sea Salt (hot). Don't miss out.. Don't this place out!
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Off the main street, excellent frozen/blended coffees. Helpful service for those who can't figure out what they want ;) Good value.

Roasted Unroasted C.

Yelp
Roasted: cute little coffee shop in Mackinaw Island. Small cafe with just a few tables for seating. Overall great atmosphere, friendly people working. Latte was delicious - slightly too hot and no latte art but tasted really good. Good little find on the island. Unroasted: great little coffee haven on Mackinaw island. Small shop complete with a great staff. Ordered a sugar free caramel latte and it was outstanding! If you want coffee on this island I highly recommend. No sugar added

Yelp
We are traveling as a family of 5 with a dog and Lucky Bean was a great first stop for us. We got a recommendation from the carriage tour guys as we were trying to avoid supporting Starbucks. SUPPORT LOCAL! The staff were clean, following safe guidelines and happily served our family coffee and smoothies. When we needed a little adjustment to my daughter's drink they were happy to help!
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
Solid. Nice looking place, knowledgeable staff, and excellent latte. What else could you want from a coffeehouse. Well done guys. Especially liked the Bed Head latte with brown sugar and honey.

Lisa P.

Yelp
Delicious coffee! Love visiting Lucky Bean when I visit Mackinac island. My favorites are pistachio latte and sugar loaf latte.
google avatar

Kristen C.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee shop with great coffee and really great people working it! One day I had the love potion blend....WOW... possibly the best coffee blend I've ever had!
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
This little coffeehouse is super cute! I am glad to see that more modern and happening businesses are making a dent on Mackinac Island. I came in here, wanting to grab some coffee beans to take back home with me. I first kept to myself and walked around a bit to check everything out. I did not see a sign or pricing for take home beans, so I thought maybe at first this was not possible. I, however, asked and yes you can purchase beans to take home with you. She let me try out some of the blends first before purchasing which was very welcomed and made me more confident in my decision. They have your typical coffee servings, but refined. They also have some great merchandise at reasonable prices. My only complaint is that i probably wouldn't grab a coffee and stay. There weren't many tables to hang out at, no A/C and too small for it to feel like it would ever be quiet to get work done. I, personally, would probably just grab a coffee and go sit in the park if I was going to feel the outside weather anyway. Keep rockin' though!
google avatar

Kay G.

Yelp
We enjoyed our love potion drip coffee and iced tea. Everyone was very friendly and relaxing atmosphere after many hours of bike riding and walking the island
google avatar

Ben P.

Yelp
I am extremely picky when it comes to coffee. We were not let down with our specialty ice coffees (I got the betty white). I only wish I got a large because it was that good.
google avatar

Bran M.

Yelp
Good coffee, always busy during peak season. Better than the Starbucks that managed to get on the island. (Why does Starbucks have to ruin every good locale?) Lucky Bean is heads above the comp. Support local!
google avatar

Carrie G.

Yelp
Great place to stop in for coffee if you don't want to spend the money at Starbucks. They have a fun variety of coffees and coffee type drinks as well as smoothies and snacks. :) It takes a while to get your drink, but that is because they are making it from scratch. The price is very reasonable for the island and the employees were very friendly :)
google avatar

Moe A.

Yelp
The coffee was delightful. I ordered their signature sea salt caramel latte and it tasted a good amount of sweet, savory, and coffee. The caffeine is strong too so that's always good. Probably the best coffee shop on the island from their competitors.
google avatar

Adam S.

Yelp
Great coffee shop a bit off the main drag. It has a great vibe, and the staff were all super awesome. Our whole group seemed extremely happy with their drinks. Best coffee on the island for sure.
google avatar

Michele R.

Yelp
Super cute shop! They had great fall selections for coffee and lattes. Prices are comparable to Starbucks but I'd much rather give my business to a small shop. The only warning I can give is that the coffee was so delicious you may be tempted to guzzle it as fast as humanly possible, which will end in a burnt mouth.
google avatar

Lynn M.

Yelp
We stopped in on the recommendation from Tyler (who works both here and at the bike rental we used) and we were not disappointed. The menu had something for everyone, all 12 in our group. The drinks were prepared quickly and as ordered. The staff was all very nice and friendly. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g42423-d2174951-r586943634-Lucky_Bean_Coffeehouse-Mackinac_Island_Mackinac_County_Upper_Peninsula_Michigan.html#
google avatar

Brian G.

Yelp
Great coffee shop one block off the main avenue on the island. The menu has a wide array of options, with some Lucky Bean specials including options with brown sugar, local honey and more in addition to all your staple coffee choices like lattes, cappuccinos, Americanos, etc. Very friendly staff topped off a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend if you are on the island. Drink local!
google avatar

Natalie S.

Yelp
Delicious coffee! I got a bed head latte and it was so good! Customer service was excellent! I would highly recommend this local place over Starbucks, which you can buy anywhere. This shop is just around the corner from the Main Street and with much less of a line! Highly recommend!

Chuck N.

Yelp
Cold Betty White Mocha-what a pleasantly cool surprise on a warm summer day with Beach Boys music in the background. I am definitely on vacation!!!
