We popped in here after seeing an outdoor sign that claimed Lucky Buns had some of the best burgers in DC. It did not disappoint! That claim seems really well-founded.
Just be advised that the burgers are VERY tall (thick double patties!), so you may need to request a single pattie or get really good and squishing your burger if you're not someone who likes them that huge.
PROS:
-Absolutely absolutely delicious hamburgers. Someone at our table doesn't eat beef, and they were just as impressed with their chicken burger too. We all agreed these are some of the best burgers we've had in a long, long time - and by far the best we've had in our limited experience of restaurants at DC.
-Surprisingly not all that expensive either. I was expecting to pay a whole lot more in DC, but this was just slightly more expensive than a fast food burger joint - only way, way tastier.
-Multiple types of fries. Love regular fries? They got 'em. Want cajun fries? Yep, that too. Fries covered in cheese? Yep. You pay for your fries separately, but the fries portion was good, and the fries themselves were tasty. If you and your tablemates want to be satiated without being super full, I'd say splitting an order of fries between two people is pretty satisfying with the large size of the burgers.
-Food came out deliciously hot. We had to wait for all of it to cool - which is never a bad thing in the world of food service!
-The decor in here is adorable too. The natural light makes it look so pretty partnered with the seafood-esque decorations. Bathrooms were clean.
-Wide walkways and a variety (but limited number of) seating. There's bar seats, high top seats, and some booths+armless chairs.
-Music was playing but not too loud. It was easy to have a conversation but we weren't easily overhearing other conversations in the establishment.
CONS:
-It may have been because it was a calm Monday afternoon, but we had multiple people waiting our table. Absolutely no problem in theory, but occasionally, server 1 would undo server 2's work. Like when we asked for a water carafe to be left at the table since we were going through so quickly, the next server would remove the carafe.
