At Lucky Buns, this lively Adams Morgan spot redefines casual dining with globetrotting burger creations, killer chicken sandwiches, and a great bar.
"The Dirty Gordy, a pickled vodka martini, makes the perfect pairing with the savory burgers at Lucky Buns. Excess pickle brine from D.C.-based Gordy’s is combined with vodka that has been infused with leftover dill clippings. The drink is topped with oil made from cucumber peels and a spray of lemon oil from leftover citrus. It’s a super cute drink and it’s really tasty as well." - Claudia Rosenbaum
"Open until 12am Sunday-Thursday, 1am Friday-Saturday Lucky Buns has three locations in the city, but the Adams Morgan one is our favorite—and not just because it’s one of the best spots to refuel after dodging bachelorette parties on 18th Street. This sit-down restaurant has a laid-back, communal vibe, and you can wrap up the night on the patio or at the bar. The burgers are good—sometimes great, depending on what you get (we love the El Jefe with gouda, cotija crema, and green chili relish). But our favorite thing to order is a chicken sandwich. Specifically, the Mumbo Bun: a fried chicken thigh in a spicy Thai chili mumbo sauce, with dill pickles and a saucy ranch mayonnaise. " - omnia saed

"Chef Alex McCoy’s Adams Morgan hangout is devoted to burgers that top Creekstone Farms beef with globe-trotting condiments like bacon XO jam, pickled beetroot, or a Thai chili take on D.C.’s treasured mumbo sauce. A Union Market stall in joined by a newer location at the Wharf." - Tierney Plumb, Eater Staff
"When entering this AdMo burger bar’s bathroom, the late Jimmy Buffet’s “Cheeseburger in Paradise” song comes to mind. After making your way through a beaded curtain, the lavatory is decked out in palm tree wallpaper and a framed portrait of cheeseburgers sprouting from a leafed branch. A classic NBA Jam arcade game and retro posters lead the way to stalls at its follow-up edition at the Wharf." - Abi Newhouse, Nicole Schaller, Eater Staff
