I wanted to get some Chinese food, and saw that this place had good ratings. We ordered inside and ordered it to-go. I ordered a daily special meal, which comes with fried rice and a pork egg roll. I ordered the chicken with broccoli meal. I also ordered the fried wontons. After placing my order, I waited about 10 minutes before it was ready. I'll be honest, I was pretty disappointed with this meal. The chicken with broccoli was good, but the chicken itself was a little slimy and soft. Chicken in a chicken with broccoli meal usually is soft due to the velveting, but this felt too soft. The broccoli was fine. The sauce itself was light and felt like it needed more flavor. The fried rice was very bland, which is not typical for fried rice. There were no vegetables or eggs in it, it looks like it was tossed with some soy sauce. The egg roll was smaller than the ones I am used to, and was also pretty flavorless. I could not taste the pork in it. Finally, the fried wontons were over fried and were very hard and crunchy, with the consistency of a fortune cookie. Overall, this meal did disappoint, but I appreciated that they were here. I might have gotten the wrong things here.

Google
It was the most delicious sesame chicken I’ve ever had, the fried rice and hotdrop soup was also soooo delicious. 10/10 will definitely be going back.

Y Alvarez

Google
The worst egg drop soup they sold me at this place, it was egg flavored water.

Google
Service is great Food is delicious

Google
Soggy and not good at all. The sesame chicken was meh and the Mongolian Triple delight was horrific and slimy . It was 6pm on a Friday so everything should be fresh. The lady at the counter be so dry.

Google
The BEST! Go every Monday, good prices and REALLY GOOD FOOD! Lunch specials are perfect.

Google
This place is a hidden gem..I had never heard of it till I saw someone post it on local food review..Let me tell you..food was YUMMY! It came out steaming hot..fresh.. cooked to order.. Very friendly.. clean place. I ordered the House Special Lo Mein and Seseme Chicken, along with steamed dumplings..cheese ragoo wonton..and other items that caught my eye.. You Got To Try This Place!!

Google
Service and atmosphere were not applicable as it was ordered thru door dash.. my food was atrocious. I ordered Shrimp with Cashews. What I got was celery with cashews, which wasn't even one of the veggies listed. Out of veggies listed, there was exactly I piece of mushroom, 2 pieces of zucchini and no water chestnuts. Furthermore there were lots of cashews they were not cashews, but peanuts. I have pictures of this meal. 1st pic is all the celery I picked out which as you can see by the 2nd one was over half the meal.

Yelp
Inexpensive food in the city of Lubbock. Traveled from Riverside California to Killen Texas. On my second day of traveling I booked a hotel and found this small Chinese restaurant nearby. Pricing is reasonable and matches mostly every other chinese takeout nearby. Service is good nothing to complain about, it's chill. Got 2 sets of dumplings & beef broccoli and went back to the hotel. Watched Friends and I dug into the dumplings 10/10 no cap. Dumplings 5/5 Beef broccoli 3/5

Yelp
Tried ordering on Grubhub & they delivered to the wrong address. Driver didn't respond to texts when I noticed. Called restaurant & got nothing. Food may be good, just cross your fingers you get it & don't have an issue.

JC W.

Yelp
The food was very wet the beef and broccoli tasted fishy, like cooked with fish. It had a weird smell to it.

Yelp
Amazing food. Met my expectations perfectly! Thank you thank you. Im so full and my heart is content. Getting five stars from me is not easy so trust me they earned it, from the good tasting food down to the To-Go packaging! Awesome!!

Yelp
A gem of a fine. Small Chinese restaurant with good food. Always on the look out for Chinese food. While visiting Lubbock,TX, I googled Chinese food and Lucky Chen popped up. We stopped in for lunch. If I lived here I'd visit again

Yelp
Literally my favorite restaurant that I found since being in college. I come here all the time. If you call in food it's always ready within 5 to 10 minutes, the staff are super sweet and nice, it's super family friendly. And the food is always banging. This place is so underrated and I cannot believe that it's not more popular because it is so freaking good and the experience within the building is so amazing.

Yelp
The BEST Chinese food in town! I love the spicy beef lo mien and the beef and broccoli!

Yelp
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Very cheap and quick. Next to Walmart. No complaints

Yelp
In Lubbock, visiting daughter and grand-daughter. We decided to get takeout from Lucky Chen, rather than cook and take time away from the visiting, Little strip mall place near Walmart, clean, neat, and tidy with a view back into the kitchen from the register allowing one to see a very clean and neat work space. Appears to be family operation with a friendly young man taking orders and patient with my hearing difficulties. On to the food, not knock your socks off great but good and plentiful orders. Had egg rolls, sesame chicken a fried rice order fried wonton soup and a noodle dish. As said above, all good, and all plentiful, but a bad deal, all in all.

Yelp
A lady from work brought take out of this new place by Marsha Sharp and I was a little skeptical. Because honestly, how good can a $5 meal at a fast food place be? The portions were enormous and for that amount of money I was expecting about a third of what I got. One person wasn't sure what they wanted and told the lady behind the counter that they liked chicken and veggies; the woman quickly said that she would make something special for her that wasn't on the menu and it looked pretty good. If the service stays this attentive and the food stays good I might become a regular.

Yelp
First time for us at Lucky Chen. I absolutely love the food! It has the kind of food you can't get at all other local Chinese places (like Panda Express) - we had sweet and sour chicken, chicken fried rice, and sesame chicken. The girl behind the counter was very friendly too, even showed her the Yelp app. The service was fast and all 3 dishes we ordered were very good. Another thing - the Restaraunt and the kitchen looked very clean, which is important to us. I will definitely become a regular customer there. Highly recommended. Update: Visited again on April 14, 2015, still gets 5 stars, the food was absolutely the best we've had in Lubbock...

Yelp
Chinese food on the spot! Had an egg foo young, and it was delicious! The food was significant as it was our last meal before she deployed. Thanks, Lucky Chen!!

Dawn H.

Yelp
The food is typical American Chinese cuisine. My family has supported this locally owned business since they opened. However, we recently placed a $70 delivery order that was short our pre-paid ham fried rice. When we called to report the missing item (thinking perhaps the delivery driver had it in their car), we were left on hold for six minutes, then transferred to "the bagger" who insisted I just couldn't see the ham fried rice - that it was there because he bagged it. Basically accused me of lying about an order of ham fried rice! As if... not feeling "Lucky" to be a long-time customer of this establishment anymore. Taking our business elsewhere.

Yelp
We were in town and ordered their delivery. My wife had Mu Shu Pork, I and the spicy chicken. All good! It is hard for me to rate Chinese food because it all tastes similar (to me), so it is either good, or terrible. This is good!!! Prices are fair, and the delivery guy was there on time.
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
Maybe we ordered wrong, but 4 Seasons dish, lo mein, and egg roll all had undertones of fish flavor. Fish sauce as a main ingredient? Didn't love it. The people were nice though
google avatar

Blake B.

Yelp
Great fash Chinese food! Reasonable prices and good service. Go during lunch hours to get the best deals.

Jessica G.

Yelp
I ordered via door dash. Food just doesn't have good flavor, I'm disappointed I recommend pho Cali or I love pho! Much better places to eat!

Remy B.

Yelp
Lucky chen is the reason I stopped trying local Chinese food in lubbock. The egg drop soup tasted like corn water, and the orange chicken was red. The people were very nice but the recipes need to be changed ASAP. Overall, nice people but lackluster food. I ate a couple of bites and threw it away. If panda express, a fast food place makes better orange chicken, you're doing something wrong. Please change your recipes, very nice people but do not eat.

Yelp
Very college student friendly restaurant for the price. I have tried the General Tso's chicken and pork fried rice and they were not that bad. Only one dish that I would recommend on the menu is called the Egg Full Yang. Definitely not the best local Asian food, but I would say you get what you pay for.
google avatar

Misty H.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way from Austin to Amarillo. Being familiar with Lubbock, we know the area and thought we'd stop for a quick bite. Our first clue should I e been that there was no one else in the dining room, the second maybe the late 80's jewelry hanging on the wall for sale. We placed our order and the food was delivered to our table, in styrofoam to-go containers. We didn't get 2 bites into our meal before walking out. The rice was dry and bland. The orange chicken was burnt and the sauce came in little ketchup style packets. Do NOT waste your money or time eating here.

Marry S.

Yelp
I ordered a sweet and sour chicken to have lunch there. This sweet and sour chicken is very delicious, very crispy, and in large quantity. It's very close to my home. It's very good.

Emily L.

Yelp
This place was amazing! The staff was very nice and they got our food ready really quickly! I would definitely recommend if you are in a hurry and need some good food to go! The food was great as well! We got sweet and sour chicken which was fantastic. I would definitely recommend coming here and enjoying the great food and the atmosphere

Yelp
So my daughter, who goes to TT, takes me to this little take--out Chinese place in a strip center. She says, "Dad, this place has really good food, and it's major cheap". OK, I say, lets give it a shot... While FF Chinese in LBB doesn't really sound that great, this little place delivered... and I don't mean to your house. The egg drop and wonton soups were both delish. Chicken chow mein just like I used to get in NY. Chicken and vegtables -- yumm. We ate like two starving pigs and I believe the bill was under $20 for all of this. I will be back. PS... my five star rating is justified as while there is better Chinese in LBB and other cities than this... for FF Chinese in LBB, this IS as good as it gets.

Yelp
Pretty solid American Chinese food and CHEAP! Staff was friendly as well. I had lunch here yesterday and it was packed. I had the lunch special with General Tso's chicken, fried rice, and hot and sour soup. I also had a side of steamed dumplings. Everything was served hot and was very tasty. It's not far from where I work, so I will probably check it out again.

Anne L.

Yelp
Sweet sour chicken is awesome! My first to-go Chinese restaurant. The beef broccoli is great too. Especially the beef tastes very tender.

Diana J.

Yelp
If I could give this place zero stars I would. First off they were not helpful whatsoever over the phone when asked about their own menu. The food is misleading and not how it's worded online. Not to mention we received the wrong order. Do not waste your time or money.
google avatar

Deez N.

Yelp
I've been going here for 3 years now. Great food and worth every dollar. Try going for the lunch special, you'll get a bag for your buck.
google avatar

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Came with a fairly large group and noticed the location was a bit on the small size. We ate anyways and found out the food is not freshly made. It was more "bought from a Freezer section and served to us" kind of food. I really can't recommend this place.

Yasong S.

Yelp
Such a good place for Chinese food! The server is very friendly and polite! And she gives good recommendations every time I want to try new foods. They cook fast and the food is fresh with large quantity! Highly recommended!!!!

YanFei Q.

Yelp
I went there and got a so called curry chicken with fried rice, it turns out it's more like a curry onion with fried rice. It was a bowl of onions instead of chicken, very disappointing. No wonder why they have no businesses.
google avatar

Caitlin D.

Yelp
First time we ordered the food was ok. Nothing to get excited about but fair. This second time we ordered it was absolutely piss poor. The orange chicken was terrible, didn't even taste like orange chicken. The pork lo mien was awful. Mushy noodles, weird hot pink pork that tasted off. The dumplings were decent. The fried rice was tasteless. The broccoli was ok. We asked for some extra duck sauce and of course got six packets each of mustard and soy and two of duck sauce. Definitely won't be ordering again
google avatar

Yelp
I would give them four stars but they have a small menu and they charge for delivery on top of a $15 minimum order. The food was good enough that I ordered it again tonight (living out of town and don't want pizza). The delivery was actually ahead of schedule. The portion size was ok; I've gotten used to giant portions from most Chinese take out places and these portions were not as big as most but still fair for the price. The seasoning was good too; I find most use less salt than I grew up with but this had enough. If you want some Chinese and don't want to drive this is edible and fairly quick. Paying by CC is a pain if they're busy because of the language barrier but they got it eventually....the second time was no sweat.

Jasmine D.

Yelp
I got their meat wontons and shrimp/pork with noodles. It made my stomach ate, I felt so horrible afterwards. Only gave 2 stars because they were nice.

Lansing S.

Yelp
Great place to get good Chinese food!!!!! I like their beef broccoli and sweet sour chicken. The server in front is very nice and helpful! Their food is fresh and cheap. I like spicy food, and I tried their Hunan Chicken, which is super good. Highly recommended!!!'

Margo H.

Yelp
This place is the bomb. I've been here twice two years apart . Very small place . I have not been there at lunch but would expect it to be crowded . It's in an old part of Lubbock but don't let that keep you from trying the food!
google avatar

Eva M.

Yelp
twice I asked for white meat(chicken) both times they gave me thigh me. Called them and the lady behind the counter argued that it was white. Won't be back.

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
Not that great tbh. The fried rice tasted like plastic. Got the chicken lo mein and the chicken tasted a little rubbery. Would recommend going elsewhere.

Yelp
I was craving some Chinese food so I decided to try this spot out. I had high hopes based on the recent reviews. The restaurant was not very spacious inside, but there are a lot of tables to sit at. The kitchen seemed clean; however, very cluttered, from the slim glimpse I got when ordering my food. The employee that took my order wasn't very talkative. I could definitely tell there was a language barrier. He maybe said ten words to me from the second I came in to the second I left. He also did not give me my change and I was upset that I actually had to tell him to give me my change; however, my review is mainly based on my food, which was highly disappointing. I ordered the chicken lo mein, which contained what they consider chicken, celery, onions, lo mein noodles, and a tasteless sauce. The chicken did not taste anything like chicken. There was too much onions in the dish for my taste. The entire dish was tasteless to me. I had to take it home and add my own flavors into it to make it edible. I wouldn't say I wouldn't recommend this place, but I definitely wouldn't recommend the lo mein. On the other hand, I will not be returning for any other dish.

Mike H.

Yelp
No prices on the menu- more expensive than you would think. The chicken was rubbery with hard spots, and the rice didn't taste anything like rice. Won't be coming back, and wouldn't recommend anyone else to waste their time and money here.
google avatar

Caitlin R.

Yelp
Best cheese wontons! The lunch special is the best deal at a good price. Wish the fried rice was better but I'll still eat it!
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
We are from out of town and ordered delivery to our hotel. It took approximately 40 minutes for delivery. I ordered the Chicken w/chinese vegetables but what I received was chicken with broccoli and a few pieces of carrot. It was very tasty and a large portion for the price but still disappointed it didn't have all the vegetables listed on the menu. My daughter had the Shrimp Mei Fun and it was very tasty and a large portion as well. There is also a $4 delivery charge that was not mentioned on menu or by the person who took our order. Our 2 entrees plus delivery charge totaled $20.47. Overall good food at reasonable prices.

Pat R.

Yelp
Awesome. Came recommended by manager at La Quinta at Civic Center. And they deliver. We were here for one night and were tired from driving all day. So we ordered, and they brought it right to our room, even faster than they projected. The wonton soup was flavorful and contained three plump, thick wontons with meat inside. My husband said the egg drop soup was good too. My ample and delicious pork fried rice was full of roast pork and lightly sautéed onion. The spring roll was surprisingly savory. But the star of the night was the Mongolian beef. A large serving with lots of superbly tender sliced beef and sautéed veggies in a perfectly spicy sauce. My husband said if he lived here, he would be getting this often. I had some of his, and I totally agreed. We go through Lubbock occasionally, and I guarantee this is where we'll be eating.

Yelp
As far as simple Chinese takeout in Lubbock goes, Lucky Chen is excellent. Ever since this placed opened I feel the food has improved and continually got even tastier. The counter service is excellent and quick, however food doesn't come out "too quick" you know they are actually making your dish fresh as opposed to some places that have portions pre-made. As far as dishes to try, I would suggest any of the Hunan sauce dishes, Hunan Chicken and Beef are excellent. Hot and Spicy Chicken is great too. The steamed rice is sticky and fragrant, the spring rolls are crispy. Everything here is great. And the portions (especially with the lunch specials) are so humongous you can't help but be pleased. If you are a Tech student or in the area this should be your one stop shop for chinese takeout. Good value, good food, great service!
google avatar

Matthew K.

Yelp
Small restrant but looks good, verry clean. The rice was defiantly substandard in the house special fried rice. However despite this the beef lo main was fenominal and I would highly recommend it. For I only had the lo main it would be an easy five stars but because of the rice only a three is fair.

Paul K.

Yelp
So to start I am new to Lubbock. I've only been here for three weeks and I've moved from Las Vegas to do some work in the West TX market so I had high expectations when I found out that there was a Chinese restaurant that delivered. The speed at which it arrived was phenomenal. However when it arrived and I tried it, the flavors were very bland but maybe that's because I'm used to spicy Thai food. Overall not bad for delivery in a pinch... just a little disappointed that the flavors weren't more vibrant. Maybe I can request a spicy level next time. I'll definitely try again.
google avatar

Shumpreeth B.

Yelp
Last night I picked up pork fried rice there, the only Asian place which can not make fried rice as it's supposed to be. It has more oil than those hash browns from jib. I had to take time and drain all the oil before I eat it. Food didn't taste great too, it's just an other cheap and unhygienic Asian restaurant, never going back there again. Don't waste your $$ on this place.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! The orange chicken is awesome! They give you plenty of food. My husband and I love to order take out or have it delivered. A MUST TRY IF YOU LIKE LATE NIGHT GOOD FOOD!
google avatar

Kristen H.

Yelp
We ordered delivery tonight. We got the thin soft noodles with beef and roasted pork and spring rolls. This is great food, very flavorful and well portioned. We will definitely order from Lucky Chen again.

Natalie D.

Yelp
I feel bad writing this because I'm sure they are good people. Quite possibly the most disgusting Chinese food I have had in my entire life. I ordered General Tso's chicken and cashew chicken and hot and sour soup. the cashew chicken I found one piece of chicken in it. when I took a bite and it tasted like rubber I am seriously thinking it might be dog. I have never tasted a meat so disgusting. My standards are not overly high considering its Lubbock Chinese food but come on this was a waste of money $25 plus a delivery charge? oh my goodness. I created a yelp account just to make this review to warn people to not waste their money on them. The General Tso's tasted like breading covered in sauce. I don't not have a clue how anyone wrote a good review on them. This was not just an off night. Don't waste your money. Sorry lucky Chen but a homeless person wouldn't eat here
