Oakland is a unique place where you can find soul food and local cuisine nestled in the heart of the city. Unlike San Francisco or the South Bay, many people are unaware of the diverse food scene here in Oakland. One evening, I was looking for some fried rice 🍚🍛and, since I was staying nearby, I stumbled upon a charming little spot where I decided to order a combination plate.🍜 The elderly lady at the cashier was incredibly sweet and friendly, and I suspected the chef was her husband. I requested fried rice along with half chow mein, and she provided me with excellent options for that evening. When I went to pay, I noticed that I could add extra shrimp for just a dollar more; I asked her for the shrimp, and she generously gave it to me for free. She was truly delightful! I enjoyed a fantastic dinner that night for about $11, and the portions were enormous. It's these hidden gems that deserve more love and attention, as not many people take the time to review places like this. I rated it a solid four stars overall, with five stars for the atmosphere and service, all thanks to that wonderful couple. While the food was acceptable—nothing extraordinary—I appreciated the experience enough to give the place a strong rating.

Ambiance was exceptionally cool. Was always attending the schezuwan chineese food location on Havenscourt between Foothill and Bancroft. ( that's until the prices hit the roof ). Lucky Dragon was lucky for me. Generous portions and for the price....was right. The shrimp, greens, and short ribs are to die for. The menu was easy to navigate to my favorites right away. Chicken this, chicken that, broccoli chicken mushroom 🍄 chicken. Will definitely make this my new go-to spot. See you schezuwan !

The food is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G there! I love Chinese food. Its an hidden gem that you have to look a little hard to catch! I didn't know about it till my mom found it and got us food to try and mannnn, a girl wasn't disappointed but the fact that I didn't know it was there the whole time 🤣😭. The beef n broccoli rice is top tier 😋 I love jt, the prices are decent for the amount of food they give!! They sometimes make mistakes and/or are ina rush so be patient and nice please 😢💙 overall, its a good little take-out food location since it doesn't have seats and tables except for one ( table & seat) and its quite small and VERY simple 🤔😆 Check it out!!!!

Usually a solid choice for Chinese....hole in the wall nothing special kinda place. But the last time I picked up food from there I came down with Covid....yes covid in 2025. If your sick don't come to work. Customers shouldn't be risking their health eating from kitchen.

I usually go here when I’m in the mood for Chinese which is probally once a month. Today I decided after 2 days of eating thanksgiving leftovers I would treat me and my kids yo Chinese and I have to say I was disappointed 😠 I got 1 order of salt and pepper chicken wings which is my all time favorite but this time around the flavor just was not their, it didn’t taste like anything and I also got orange chicken which was too hot for my 6 year old and 2 year old their was too much pepper flakes added and the chow mein. had so much sauce on it and was extremely oily which made it hard to eat and instead made me feel sick . I would have to say the only thing I actually enjoyed was the veggie egg rolls. When I called to inform them they responded by saying ok I will let the cook know compaired to the last time I called when my order was no appetizing they had me bring my food back and refunded me everything

Yo the Atmosphere was mad crazy. Not appealing this is probably why people order online. The food was flavorful and delicious. Ordered Singapore noodles, Beef and broccoli over fried rice, chicken wings and crab Rangoon. Singapore noodles were on point with flavor. The beef and broccoli over fried rice was delicious. Broccoli was perfectly softened and beef cooked to perfection. The fried rice had enough flavor and didn’t need extra soy sauce. Crab Rangoon had the perfect meat to cream cheese ratio. Chicken wings were good but left a after taste. Everything was cooked fresh and they gave us plenty of condiments.

I've been ordering from Lucky Dragon for years and they've always been consistently great. The food is fresh, flavorful, and always hits the spot. Tonight I had a small issue with my order so I called the restaurant. The lady who owns the shop was incredibly kind and understanding. She immediately offered to replace the order without any hesitation. It's rare these days to find a business that values their customers like that. This experience just reminded me why I keep coming back. Great food, great people, and genuine customer service. Lucky Dragon will always be one of my favorites!

I ordered hot and sour soup, wonton soup because I was feeling under the weather lately. The wonton and hot and sour was s9 delicious. This is a take out place. I'm so glad this restaurant is here! The service was great too!

Been going to this place for YEARS and I never had any issues with my food. Nothing is perfect and we all make mistakes but I won't be returning to this restaurant anytime soon. I ordered beef and broccoli, shrimp fried rice, salt and pepper chicken and walnut prawns. Everything looked delicious but my boyfriend found hair and his beef and broccoli. This was his first time having Lucky Dragon. When I continued to look through it I found more long strings of hair!! This made us both sick. I gave it two starts because again people make mistakes and I've been a loyal customer for years. Usually the food is fresh and delicious but not today, unfortunately. I was hoping to give a much better review. I will be calling the store to let them know as well. I'm bald lol so the hair isn't mine.

Heard about this place from my coworker. He said they sell $11 combo plates, and that his Chinese food that he ordered (salt & pepper wings and chow mein) was HELLA good. So today he told me he was going back and I told him to order me the $11 honey walnut prawns w/white rice plate. And babyyy, BEST $11 spent on a good, cheap, quick combo plate. Now I'm gonna tell all my coworkers as well as tell management to order our catering meals from here too. Great bang for your buck, for sure! ^_^

One of my items was wrong. The food had no flavor, especially no smell of Chinese food. The price was reasonably priced, now I understand.

This used to be the go to spot in Oakland! The last two times I ordered, the fried rice had a strange smell as if it's going bad or spoiled. Surely enough, the next day the food is no longer edible.

I ordered the veggie fried rice, veggie egg foo young the worst food I have ever had the egg foo young was dry as hell & the veggie fried rice was just off with all of those veggies I thought it would taste good but not.... The egg foo young's sauce was like a reddish brown color what was that & sweet might I add......this place shouldn't get good reviews I threw my food away wasn't worth it........

I have been coming here almost 30yrs and it has ALWAYS been good but went almost closing time (which is really a no-no) but they still had orders so I trusted it but when I got home my rice plates looked like rice and gravy (drenched) and I ordered it over Shrimp fried rice (no matter the upcharge) and 3 Shrimp was in the front of the containers by themselves and no flavor my bok choy was bland too most of the time it's the rice and what you ordered on top this was all mixed together. I'm shocked but I hope they read this and don't mix it up again or maybe try to get rid of everything so there is nothing left over (sauce). Service was good as always..

Food was plentiful, tasty. Was delivered hot and fast. One of my go to places in the hood. They been around very long time and still have great food. Will go back or order delivery in near future.

Im so disappointed. I ordered BBQ fried rice on Saturday and when I opened the box it had a small odor. I didn't think anything of it. The next day,I wanted to reheat my rice and it was slimy. I was pissed off. All that money to the trash. It was so bad that I almost vomit.

Lucky Dragon Cafe has been a take out place for decades. the menu has the same prices as 2016. no noticeable parking nearby. luckily got one on the corner. (maybe it's a red zone) this is a genuine ghetto spot. no loiterers seen menu: typical American chinese. legit Chinese cooking eats: beef chow fun (8.95) -big portion with tender beef slices, bean sprouts, green onions, onions. -expertly cooked with some wok hay (stir fry technique) flavoring -slightly greasy, slightly salty, darkness of eats may be from dark soy sauce. 4.5 stars great value! big portion. ghetto oakland...

Good fresh food, always enjoy every item I've tried thus far. I like that the lemon chicken comes with the sauce on the side so it's not all soggy. I'm usually not a fan of dried fried ribs but theirs are spot on Large portions for the price as well.

The outside looks like trash. Typical hood shit but my good God my food was good. I got beef and egg scramble over rice and BBQ pork chow mein. Delicious . No complaints. Huge portions too. I ate as much as I could. Smoked a blunt and went back in. That's how big that plate was. Definitely finitely going back there again.

Hidden gem if ya ask me...If you work in the neighborhood, you know food choices are limited to KFC,Popeyes, and McDonalds. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to grab Chinese food but this place hits the spot. You walk in and it feels like a prison cell but if you can get passed that, this place serves solid food. My coworkers and I go here about once a week and have tried every menu item. Lunch specials start at 7 bucks and good size portions. To-go orders only. Favorites: Orange chicken, fried rice, honey walnut shrimp

I normally don't do reviews but yesterday I ordered a tray of the combination fried rice for a party and it was very good and perfectly seasoned and everyone one loved it I will be ordering my party trays from here.

Excellent dried fried ribs that has flavor to the bones. I always seem to forget to ask for the "salt and pepper" version which is really more to my liking. We've enjoyed pretty much everything we've ordered here... fried rice, different noodles, veggies, appetizers but we never walk away without the dried fried ribs. It's a little hole in the wall with one or two small tables (and I mean small); not ideal for a good dining experience but I guess it beats eating in your car. You pay through a little window with bars. Not the best location and parking, so you would want to call ahead to order, but the food is well worth it. I work within walking distance to Oakland Chinatown and would prefer to go here.

Was craving Chinese food. Ordered the 4 person combo, did not disappoint. Dry fried ribs were my favorite, followed by the excellent beef and broccoli (fresh, still crunchy broccoli). This food was perfectly seasoned and tasty. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes. Prices are also extremely reasonable!

this use to be my go to dried fried rib spot they've failed me terribly bad every time I've tried within the last year you'd think they wouldn't take an any short cuts especially on a signature item like that I'll officially never be back farewell over 30yrs coming here never thought I'd be saying never again I'm sure they've lost loyal lifetime customers over this not to mention they don't even use the same shrimp they use to in the rice I've never been so disappointed in this place ever I almost thought it was a joke It was so bad. I have been a long time patron at Lucky Dragon! Tonight they went above and beyond! Normally i pick up my order however tonight i couldnt due to VANDALISM!!! I called and ordered a family of 4 meal. It comes with chicken chow mein, shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli, dried fried ribs and deep fried chicken wings. I make substitutions instead of beef and broccoli, i get chicken with string beans. Instead of sweet and sour chicken i get salt and pepper prawns. When i say EVERYTHING!!! They are everything!!! The food is great, they have never disappoint. When i placed the order they allowed me to pay with my card via phone. The owners son dropped the food off to me in West Oakland. When i got my order from him i needed to go get drinks, i stepped out of my door to go to the store near by. He thought something was wrong and asked if my boyfriend and i needed a ride! When i say I LOVE THIS FAMILY, they have been a staple in East Oakland for longer than Ive been in the town and their customer services proves to be great every time i order! I will continue to be a returning customer for as long as i can!!!

Usually pretty decent service but I'm extremely irritated by the fact I was given a 30 minute wait time, even though it took over 90 minutes to get to my house and then when it arrived it was plain chicken. I ordered lemon chicken and they forgot the sauce. Oh and we still tipped! Only to find out our order was messed up and super super late. So irritated. Edit: Just finished my plain chicken and honey walnut shrimp. They burned the walnuts and still served it to us. Seriously....

First time order last night. I ordered online coming from downtown and food was ready right ontime in 20 min. Good stuff, large portions. Walked in to pickup and fellow at counter said next time park on 70th side and he'd bring out. Definitely be going back.

I live 2 blocks away and I never knew that the food here was this bomb. I recommend it.... I called the order in and it was ready in the matter of 10 minutes! Super fresh and delicious!

Like many others, I had a flyer in front of my house and decided to try it out. The delivery is fast and so convenient for when I'm lazy to cook or eat out. I tried the combos/family dinner and those were pretty good and fairly priced. The combination chow mein is one of my favorites along with the honey walnut shrimp. The quantity and quality is there! What more can you ask for when the food is cheap and good. The staff was nice and like most Asian restaurants, they get to the point and get you in and out. "Ain't nobody got time for that", just kidding. For a hole in the wall and Chinese food place in East Oakland, you can't get better than this. Add cheap prices to the mix and what more can you expect. Support the local business and feed yo belly.

HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We placed an order around 4:30 pm and were told that it would be about 35 minutes until the food arrived. About 25 minutes later the delivery man called my mother 3 times within 1 minute of each other, but she did not hear the phone so she ended up going to the door less than 5 minutes later, upon hearing loud banging on the door (he didn't even ring the doorbell). My mother of course apologized but was cursed and yelled at by the delivery driver! When she opened the door to pay he literally threw the food ON THE FLOOR!!! When my mom asked what his problem was he continued to give her incredible attitude and yell at her. He also threw the change instead of handing it to my mother! I understand that it is an inconvenience to wait on a customer, but the food arrived before we expected it and it was an honest mistake that we apologized for. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE to ever treat a customer as rudely and degradingly as he did. This was completely unprofessional and unacceptable and I will definitely NOT be ordering from here again.

This is exactly what I consider "Chinese Cuisine," the food is authentic, fresh served hot, and in a timely manner. The portions are large and I was so happy with the abundance of veggies including Bok Choy! I ordered all vegetarian dishes, however, I did notice a large amount of specialty dishes that included meat and seafood. My vegetable rice was steaming hot and full of perfectly sauteed broccoli! Yummy! I am reminiscing on that tasty dish right now. I absolutely recommend this community jewel. The owners have created a great system and a delicious menu. I am looking forward to trying a new entree during my next visit.

Have not been here in a long time, but this is a longtime East Oakland staple. When I was working in the area, we would order from there every pay day Friday and the employees there knew the number when we called in the orders. I would get so many different things from there, but their dry fried ribs are fantastic. I am so yearning for a trip there; because, I have not been there in at least 10 years.

Lucky Dragon has very good food... I have had the salt & pepper shrimp and the fried rice , egg rolls, shrimp fried rice , chow mein ... WOW!!!! DELICIOUS... And the people who run the place are very nice...

SALT AND PEPPER WINGS! I don't have one complaint about this place. The food tasted great. Prices were very inexpensive. Everything was made quick and fresh The food came in large portions. The customer service was good. Open late. The salt and pepper wings are a must!! Definitely one of my new favorite places for Chinese food.

Talk about "Don't judge a book by its cover"! At first I was hesitant to try this lone zone undecorated restaurant base of its appearance, but I did anyways and OMG the FOOD WAS SO AMAZING! Place can use a nice wall paint, updated furnishings and decor but that doesn't really matter when their food absolutely DELICIOUS!! You guys try the wings, looooovvveee it

Large portion for cheap! And the food is good when fresh. I don't really care for it next day but fresh is super good. This is not a place where you can sit and eat. Order for pickup and enjoy this at home. All veggies are cut fresh it was just super good.

This is one of the Premier Chinese food places in town. Quick, friendly, Delicious Delivery. My favorite is the dry fried ribs and the honey walnut shrimp. Give them a try, they won't disappoint!
