This one star review is undeserved, given the treatment we received on the 20th of September, at around 3p.m. We went to the take-away area (there was five of us) and the woman at the counter recommended the sit-in area for us instead. Agreeing to this was the biggest mistake we made because we were treated extremely poorly with the utmost disrespect by all members of the staff, including the manager.
We observed a system of first-come-first-served basis for the tables by the window, which is fair. Whilst waiting our turn, we were told we could sit at one of the middle tables. A few minutes later, one of the window tables cleared; I asked a waitress if we could move to that table and she said we could after she's cleaned it. When we were moving, a man came in and stood next to the table looking confused, and that's when the drama ensued.
When I say all the members of staff ran to attend this man, I am not exaggerating. They addressed him the whole time, dismissed us when we ignored what was happening and asked for the menu. We only realised the severity of the situation when we heard two members of staff talking about us in isiXhosa, saying they don't understand why we moved ourselves to that table, while the others where standing by the counter talking and pointing at us. The whole time we were there, they ignored us and seemingly decided to attend to and address this man only, making it seem like we were at fault, and showing us that they value certain customers over other. We eventually decided to leave.
The treatment we received yesterday was appalling, disrespectful and in poor-taste, and this is me putting it nicely (undeservedly so) to stay in line with Google's policies. Do not ever treat people like that again. regardless of race and whatever other preconceived notions you have of people who look a specific way. We will not be returning to your establishment, or any other Lucky Fish & Chips restaurant.
