"While the Cape of Good Hope itself is fairly overrated, swimming with penguins at Boulders Beach (make sure you go to the entrance on the far right), surfing in Muizenberg, and eating fish and chips in Kalk Bay are not. The Kalk Bay Harbour down the southern peninsula is where the fisherman return with each day’s catch, so you’re pretty much as close to the source as you can get. The classic fish and chips shop is Kalky’s, but we prefer Lucky Fish, a local fast-food chain with a location directly across the road. The best call is to get a parcel of fried hake from each one and decide for yourself." - Dana Alloy

Lovely crispy fish & chips (my go-to!) with some of my favourite tartar sauce so far. Friendly staff and zippy service. Absolutely stunning views right on the water. Prices are good. Would recommend for a family lunch. Ps, beware of the salt shakers! They flow with reckless abandon😅

4 stars for the decent fried snoek and hake. French fries were poor quality. Why can you not grill the prawns instead of deep frying them, overdone, and hard to peel. Was not impressed by the herby coating on the calamari. Service can improve. Nice location with the waves crashing onto the rocks a few meters away from you. Restaurant can do with a makeover whilst still keeping it authentic.

Had an amazing time here. Customer service top tier and the fish and chips we had? Crunchy and fresh

Food is good. Very few Fisheries are open on Sundays but this one is. Portion sizes could be bigger. I didn't like the batter in which the Calamari was fried in. Parking near the place is limited especially during busy hours. You can explore the harbour while waiting for the food.

Went to the takeaway and the lady asked us if we would prefer to sit down and be served. We walked through a nondescript door and into this amazing spot almost in the sea! The photos will explain. We shared an ice cold draught and the food was out in a flash. We shared the two pieces of hake, calamari and chips which was substantial, fresh and so tasty! Highly recommended because it has local prices, amazing food and service.

After a long day of exploring, we found ourselves at Lucky’s, ready for a well-deserved break. Curiosity got the better of me when I asked what a Gatsby was. In hindsight, I probably should have reconsidered when the server inquired how many cuts I wanted in my roll. Feeling confident after some climbing earlier, I believed I could handle it. However, this sandwich was on a different level—enough to feed a family of four, easily. The fish was a bit watery, but the chips were tasty, and overall, it certainly hit the mark for a hearty meal. The service was excellent, and the view from the restaurant, with waves crashing against the rocks, provided the perfect backdrop to end the day.

Very lucky to become a quietened with this restaurant. Sitting at a open window overlooking the sunset. Great atmosphere. 30 April 2024 we visited the restaurant again with another visit to the Western Cape. The food was nice and tasty.

An impromptu visit to Lucky's turned out to be a welcome treat. I had the calamari and chips and was surprised by the large portion size. Really good value for money. My friend ordered a medium plate of chips and it was huge! Service was very friendly and quick and we had a great view of the sea. Weather was a bit wet but this didn't dampen our experience.
