Lucky Fish & Chips Review - Kalk Bay - Cape Town - The Infatuation

"While the Cape of Good Hope itself is fairly overrated, swimming with penguins at Boulders Beach (make sure you go to the entrance on the far right), surfing in Muizenberg, and eating fish and chips in Kalk Bay are not. The Kalk Bay Harbour down the southern peninsula is where the fisherman return with each day’s catch, so you’re pretty much as close to the source as you can get. The classic fish and chips shop is Kalky’s, but we prefer Lucky Fish, a local fast-food chain with a location directly across the road. The best call is to get a parcel of fried hake from each one and decide for yourself." - Dana Alloy

Hake good but unfortunately calamari not up to standard, dry and hard , had to go into the bin. I come to this place often for the hake , gave the calamari a try and unfortunately not edible except the chips

What an absolute pleasurable first time experience. Beautiful clean establishment, vibrant and attentive staff. And the view of the ocean waves braking in the surf. The food was freshly prepared and on point. Delicious and beautifully presented. We will definitely return for more gorgeous seafood

We got calamari and chips, 2 piece hgake and chips. What a shocker when the portions was served and the fried calamari and chips were the same as the calamari and chip roll. The chips was oily and had to wipe it off with a serviette. Only one person at the till and it was kinda full and the line moved along slowly. The sauce was also charged

Tasty and good portion I usually share with hubby as it is more than enough for both of us, 2 pieces of fish and a lot of chips , but if you have a large appetite don't use that option. Always fresh and we prefer to eat outdoors overlooking the ocean

The fish was the best in all Cape Town. Calamari was good. Fries were OK. There are some great sauces as well. Price is fair. Is beach front, easy to park and there are some other shops around. There is no table service and the restroom was clean.

They were closed for a little bit to get a fresh coat of paint. The food, was beautiful, fresh and delicious. The calamari was 🐙 amazing, the fish and chips 🐠🐟🍟 excellent 😍. The only reason there's a star missing is because their Sister store in Kalk Bay is better - waiters / waitresses are friendlier and check on you from time to time. I saw our waitress twice and felt she didn't actually deserve the tip 🧐🙄

Terrible experience .Really craved a good hake and chips and for the first time Lucky fish dissapointed .45 minutes before closing time shouldn’t mean bad service and food .In the past I remember sit down meant they brought your food to you .The lady insisted I should get up to collect my order .The fish batter was dark brown .Hake portion was so small and thin .Chips were horrible horrible .I even showed the manager how hard .crispy ,dry and so many small broken pieces were in the food .Food was so tasteless aswell .Added so much vinegar .salt and lemon .Batter definitely needs some sort of flavour .

Can't beat the view while enjoying the tastiest, chunky hake and calamari. Awesome sharing portion. Best batter had in long time. Very busy.
