If you want a cup of coffee to fuel your daily battle of bumper to bumper traffic, a monotonous 9-5 job, and to come home exhausted, Lucky Goat Coffee is not the place to start your morning. I am no where near being a coffee expert, but I do have taste, and have had some great coffee in my life. One of my coffee expert friends told me, to truly know how good a coffee shop is you must try their cold brew. Black. No cream. No sugar. And based on my pallet that is how I've always enjoyed cold brew. Upon ordering a cold brew, the nice man working the counter asked if I wanted to try their turtle noted (flavored beans) cold brew. So I ordered that with no cream or sugar. At first sip, I thought maybe I drank some of the ice water. It tasted weak and bland, almost like a hint of coffee in a cup of cold water. So giving it another chance I swirled the drink around took another sip and still the same result. So I thought maybe it was just a weak batch of cold brew. People make mistakes. So I asked politely, and swapped to the regular cold brew (no cream, nor sugar, black). They were quick to swap it out no questions asked. I sat back down at my seat and thought this must be the real deal! This is the main event of their cold brew! But I was sadly mistaken... Again it tasted watered down and bland. It was disappointing that both were not good at all. That they truly lacked in any elements of flavor and richness that cold brew can bring to the table. It's just disappointing a coffee shop has better pastries and tea then coffee.
I will be back because I believe in second chances. And I hope I have to update my review for the better. But as for now, Lucky Goat Coffee has a hype bus leaving the station and I will not be getting on.
