Lucky Indonesia

"For over 30 years, this tiny gem has been famous in the neighbourhood for its authentic Central Javanese cooking. The room feels cosy and youthful after a facelift and the food is as tasty as always. For chargrilled satay exuding an addictive smoky aroma, choose from lamb, pork and chicken varieties. Lontong capgome is sticky rice balls with several side dishes such as beef rendang, opor ayam and pindang egg. Pair with an iced longan drink." - Michelin Inspector

Visited from twenty years ago, and visited again after 6 years. Food is very good and tasty. Satay is one of the best.

5 star experience 🥰 I’m so glad this small shop exists. Food is very authentic and yummy. The restaurant seems to be newly renovated so it’s very comfortable as well.

🧐 It’s official. Michelin is clueless, when it comes to Indonesian 🇮🇩 food - which logically also explains why there hasn’t been a single restaurant in Indonesia that’s received any 🌟! “Lucky Indonesia” in Kwun Tong, is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant - and the Nasi Campur was decent, but feels toned down and localised for 🇭🇰 (and Michelin?) tastebuds as compared to say “Warung Malang” in Causeway Bay.. no fault of them in doing that though, they need to survive as a business by catering to the mass audience, just ain’t my cup of tea.

Nice and fresh decor for a comfy experience. Satay are fresh, juicy and tender. Overall a bit overpriced for this district. Prefer Shau Kei Wan Satay House above MTR (but they are without seats)

First of all, i am indonesian lives in Hong Kong and actively looking for decent authentic Indonesian food. Unfortunately as a matter of fact it is hard to find a decent Indonesian food in Hong Kong despite over 100K Indonesian live in Hong Kong at the moment.. Me and my wife tried several times to try this restaurant but not lucky enough to find the restaurant close during COVID. And today we have the chance to try this restaurant aside from the michelin bib gourmand badge, we just want a good simple Indonesian food. We tried a lontong cap go meh and nasi kuning (nasi campur with nasi kuning instead of nasi putih).. lontong cap go meh more to medanese style with authentic indonesian rendang taste. For the nasi kuning, the nasi kuning is so fragrant and the rice is tender so good! Rendang and ayam goreng also good very similar what we had in Indonesia especially the street food style.. We also had buah atep with marjan syrup! Definitely feels like home.. Will be coming back again very soon and try other dishes..

I am Indonesian just move to HK 2 years ago. I’ve been looking for a good authentic indonesian food for 2 years and this restaurant is definitely the BEST indonesian restaurant i have ever tried (tried fews in Causewaybay and Sai Kung). Ordered lontong cap go meh and it reminds me of one of the best lontong cap go meh in Kelapa Gading area (In Jakarta) and their nasi kuning also tasty! Not to mention, restaurant is clean and newly renovated also the owner is very polite. Definitely will be my go to place whenever i miss my home food.

This is a small amazing family restaurant. Authentic Indonesia food . I knew it because I am Indonesia chinese. Another amazing is this is a Michelin star restaurant. I been a customers since 35 years ago and nothing change inside the shop. Especially outside an old area of the city. If you looking for another view of HK this is a good restaurant you could try .

Can’t wait to visit this family-run Michelin restaurant with my family 😄 Update: lunched there eventually. My son asked a good question: How come a Michelin restaurant does not do the prawn crackers themselves, but to use packaged stuff instead 🤔
