Lucky Pickle is a great option for higher quality but still reasonably fast lunch food. The Katsu Chicken roll was great, and was big enough to function as a meal by itself. The addition of some (delicious) crisps a nice touch too. It was pretty pricey compared to local options, but nothing too extreme. Service was very friendly.

We ordered the chilli chicken katsu bowl, which in itself was not extraordinary. I thought the portion size was small and the chicken schnitzel was very thinly cut. I was still hungry afterwards. However, the bowl is light and refreshing if that's what you're craving. And the house chilli oil is delicious. The service however was top notch. The guy who took our order was very friendly, very accommodating of our dietary requirements (I had requested less rice and dressing on the side and my friend had requested no rice) and the bowls were presented neatly. It is a nice spot to soak some sun, tucked away from the busy streets and nicely shaded by some trees.

By far the worst restaurant I’ve eaten at since arriving in Sydney. The food itself was just a Vietnamese roll—nothing special. Most Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney charge around $10 for a roll, but this place charges $18, nearly double the price. I could accept the higher price if it tasted good; however, the pork belly here was the saltiest thing I’ve ever eaten — it tasted as if they’d poured an entire bottle of salt into it. I’m not exaggerating: ten minutes after finishing this pork roll I developed mouth ulcers and broke out in pimples on my face. I can’t imagine how much salt they used! Not recommended.

Came for lunch in a Saturday at around 1pm, we both had the katsu chicken roll and it did not disappoint! Great service and brilliant coffee. If you’re wanting a nice lunch spot in Surry hills this is a great spot!

Had the chili katsu roll and an iced coffee. The bread for the roll was excellent. The chicken, however, was disappointing. It was dry and very bland. The chili condiment helped a bit but wasn't enough to overcome the blandness. Honestly, it was probably the most disappointing food I've had while visiting Sydney. On the other hand, the iced coffee was delicious and service was incredibly friendly.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Absolutely banging food and service! Swap out any protein for a thick delicious piece of Tofu Katsu to make any sandwich vegetarian. Perfect flavour pairings on a nice fresh baguette. Cute place too with lots of seating! $16 is a bit pricy but it’s worth every penny!

Google
Such a cute little place with the best sandwiches: we had the beef meatball & chicken katsu - both were SO tasty. Also had the Chicken Katsu Rice Bowl - yum as well. The Furikake Fries were a treat too. Lovely owner/staff who offered to put aside what we wanted when we rang ahead - super impressed 🤩

Yelp
Little hole in the wall kind of place. Very little seating, very simple interior and food but what they do, they do well. I had the katsu roll which was so delicious. I could have ate two! Everything was perfectly balanced and i can't fault it. Staff were really friendly and cheerful. I intend to go back next time I'm in the neighborhood and enjoy another katsu roll in the sunshine!

Yelp
Thank the heavens for Lucky Pickle! Best coffee, sambo's and salads in Surry. Bonus of living around the corner and working from home is being able to fill my belly with their goodness. Lucky us!

Yelp
This used to be my favorite place in Surry Hills for breakfast, lunch, coffee, snacks, you name it. Probably the same for a lot of people. Then they got new management (translation: sold it off to some amateurs) and they derailed it in a matter of weeks. Basically, the coffee is some shit budget brand and the egg roll which was once the best breakfast out has been turned into the most basic sandwich I've ever had this displeasure of tasting. The recipe was seeded ciabatta, half boiled eggs (like dripping at the centre), lathers of Sriracha mayo and dil. Now it's boiled eggs on white bread with rocket and mayonnaise. Never again. My heart breaks for that fallen egg roll.
