We've been coming to the Block... er.... Outlets of Orange for well over 15 years and I don't think we've ever set foot into the bowling alley. We only did this day because I knew there was a restaurant inside and wanted to check it out.
When we walked in on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30, we thought the restaurant was closed, so we looked around and left. On the way out, we did see someone eating so we knew they had food. There was also a sign that said to seat yourself. However, the sound of the bowling alley is what really made us leave.
Well, after checking with another nearby hamburger restaurant, and finding out there was a wait, decided to pop back to Lucky Strike and give it a shot.
We sat down, scanned the QR code for the menu, and began looking around to see if someone was available to help us. The sole bartender eventually brought a menu and got our drink order. After that, it was a typical restaurant experience.
The menu is pretty simple, salads and burgers along with a steak option. We ordered a couple of burgers. We both ordered our usual drinks, coke, and diet coke.
Now, I don't know what it is about bar soft drinks, but they always taste funny. I can never tell if it's just the alcohol that's been infused with the glassware, or just the mix coming from their push-button soft drink hose, but dang, I wish someone would figure it out.
The burgers took s a while to get to us, but dang, the burgers were mighty fine! The fries had the perfect amount of seasoning. They were both well worth the wait. Sadly, my Diet Coke was like a 12oz glass that went pretty quickly and it was difficult to flag down a bartender to get a refill.
The total cost was about $30, which isn't bad for 2 people and probably the same, or maybe less than we would have paid at the 50ish-style diner across the walkway. The burger was definitely better!
One note, they do make you open a tab when you sit down. I assume they expect you to maybe bowl later. We just paid for the meal in advance and were done with it, but they did require a credit card. No big deal though. We'll definitely consider this place again though, and heck might even come back to bowl!
