Lucky's Drive-In Tacoma

This was our first time trying Lucky's and we loved it! Food was great, service was awesome and prices were reasonable. I tried the pumpkin pie shake and it was delicious! The kiddos liked being able to eat in the bus. We will definitely be going back. Do yourself a favor and try them out 😁

This place is only 10 years old, but has the feel of something much more classic. I went for their single with cheese, hold the lettuce, and was quite impressed with all the scratch made ingredients, especially the delicious bun, and all for only $7! Overall it was a little sweet for my tastes, possibly due to their special sauce, but that could easily be adjusted with a little mustard, hot sauce, and/or salt. Staff was friendly and helpful, they had a good size crowd in the outdoor eating area but the bus was empty. Definitely worth checking this place out.

A burger with real ingredients. The staff is really nice that I get all the sauces to try out. Having a burger in an old-fashioned bus like in the movie is not just having a burger but experiencing the past moments with the same food.

My sister found Lucky's in her search for a fast food restaurant for me and she didn't disappoint! The fries were delicious, the cherry milkshake was made to perfection and the burger had the right amount of toppings and cooked just right. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area again.

This place never disappoints! From the food to the vibes this is a great place to bring the family on a Friday night or any night/day really. You really can't go wrong here at Lucky’s!

Had a Luckys Bacon Burger Combo for the first time! I even added on grilled onions and mushrooms! The pickle slices were huge...was a bit messy, but oh so good! And the Blackberry shake was sooo yummy too! Such a cute place!

Had a fantastic meal here. Burger was outstanding and super flavorful, fries were perfect and the black berry milkshake was so good. Not often you get a milkshake with real fruit in it!

This is a quick and easy tasty place to get to eat. I think it's a good value because the burger is tasty with an excellent bun. The fries are yummy and good serving. The shake is a treat to make it a large lunch. Try and you'll see why there's people standing in line

I went to Luckys after work this afternoon around 5pm. I ordered a bacon ranch burger, large fries w/fry sauce and a milkshake. Normally the burgers are great, fries are incredible.... But tonight I got home, half the burger was missing, it was just bun, lettuce and ranch, the fry sauce was super salty, lumpy, and tasted old. Very frustrating that I paid $15 for this and half my burger or dinner was missing. The fries by themselves were still good and the milkshake was fantastic. I don't know if there's a new cook, but I didn't recognize anyone there today. I'm probably going to find a new burger place. I hear Habit burger is off the hook in university place.

Came here on a whim because the stores bus caught my eye. If you haven't been here, this location is off 136th St S and Pacific Ave, right across Big Foot Java. The bus I am talking about is a 1955 Burger Bus you can actually dine in and has AC. The set up is cute as the bus is to your left when you're in front of the store. And on the right side of the store, there's some outdoor seating if you want to eat here. There's no place to eat inside the actual restaurant itself as they only cook and take orders there. This place kinda reminds me of Frugals back in the day. The items of course are made to order, so depending on how busy, you may have to wait a little. I ended up getting the Lucky single meal with upgraded to an oreo shake. The burger itself was okay. I had ordered some ranches on the side, but I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but it was so salty, I ended up throwing it out. And i love ranch, so i was sad. But the oreo shake was thickkk and good. The staff was super chill and nice!

My partner and I are attempting to try each and every locally-owned restaurant that serves a burger, shake and fries. This was our first trip to Lucky's and we were sufficiently impressed to not strike it from our 'must return' list. The hamburger was generous albeit patty extended beyond the bun. Whom of you appreciates not having to open the bun to confirm there is a hamburger patty present. The French fries were quite good and possibly the highlight of this our first visit. Our shakes were super thick although to us Lucky's seemed to skimp on the chocolate syrup, similar to Frisko Freeze and Lefty's. We've decided to take a bottle of chocolate syrup on future trips much like I take a small bottle of Tapatio sauce to Me can restaurants. The service was efficient and pleasant. We enjoyed eating on the bus.

Very friendly staff. Didn't have to wait too long for our food. The fries look and taste great! Burgers good too. Not too big not too heavy, lettuce was a little wet but not a deal breaker or anything.

Stopped in for a quick to-go order and was pleasantly surprised! Service was fast, and everything tasted fresh. I ordered the Lucky burger with jalapeños, a side of fries, and some chili. The burger was flavorful with just the right kick, and the fries were hot and crispy. The chili could've used a bit more salt, but that was an easy fix. Overall, a solid experience--can't wait to go back!

What cool little burger bus! My family has been on a burger kick lately and so we popped in to try Lucky's. First of all, the food options are very straight forward but everything is amazing. I'm always impressed when there are meatless options, and tasty ones at that. Bonus points from my kids for the yummy shakes. Even the dipping sauces for the fries were excellent. The cashier was very warm and friendly advising us how to listen for our order on the bus. Lastly, the bus is what makes this place. Super clean and well appointed on the inside. Giving all the 50's vibes. LOVE

I don't know why I waited so long to try Lucky's but now I don't want to wait for the next time I decide to crave a burger. Love the old school feel of a drive in! Customer service was exceptional and wait time (even with the parking lot full) was less than 5 mins. I ordered The Lucky with extra pickles (because I can lol) and a speciality shake (it was cookies and cream with a cute name). The Lucky is just what you expect beefy, soft but crisp bun and generous toppings. I don't think I could shove it in my mouth fast enough. So good! The shake was perfect thickness & one of the best I've ever consumed.

Cute, retro burger drive inn with two seating area - open, umbrella covered picnic tables to the right or a climate controlled bus. Service was quick and easy. The burgers were a little pricey and okay. We ordered the Lucky burger and Double Lucky burger. The buns were brioche style which is nice but were a little messy to eat. The burgers were loaded with plenty of pickles, shredded lettuce, chopped onion, and sauce. There was too much sauce on my burger for my taste and it made the bun soggy. The fries were very crispy and a little salty.

Just fantastic, the best (priced) burger, fry, and shake I've ever had the privilege to eat. Definitely my go to spot in Tacoma.

Service definitely needs improvement never have I ever been treated so horribly and the the food was just bland and the ambiance well there wasn' any.

Fun looking retro 50s place. Includes a old bus with booths to eat in! Unfortunately my burger was so salty I could barely eat it. Otherwise I had fun.

It was okay. I'm surprised a place like this doesn't make smash burgers. The patties were pale and blah. No sear, no flavor. I had the mushroom and swiss burger which was saved by the garlic aioli. I tried my kids' plain cheeseburger and was definitely underwhelmed. Still a cool location. Happy I tried it, but not returning.

OOOOH yes. Local option with all the garbage food vibes my body needs sometimes. We're talking burgers made right with homemade pickles, milkshakes with local ingredients, fries done the right way with the little crispy edges, and a chili dog so heavy with chili it broke my friends fork. I was worried when my friends talked me into meeting at a drive in on a rainy day, but the bus outside of the burger shack is cozier than some restaurants I've been in!!!! Great break stop when you're not in the mood to deal with traffic, only 8 minutes off i5 it's a no brainer. Got options for everyone. OH and staff was sweet & fast too! Order and they call your name over the speaker (can hear it in and out of the bus)

I've been here multiple times and its good every single time! Everyone is so sweet here and the quality of food is amazing! The double lucky, bacon bbq, or bacon ranch is really good and the fries are AMAZING! The shakes are also amazing I always get the strawberry banana. The blackberry i believe is also delicious. The bus to sit in there is so cute and the aesthetic is so retro and its just nice. I look forward to coming again soon!

The best burger I've had in a long time. The fries are pretty good, shakes & malts are great. Reasonable prices & pretty quick service. With no indoor dining, seating options are limited. There are just a few outdoor picnic tables & several spots to sit inside a converted city bus.

Great experience. Beautiful approach. Fantastic service. Easy to read menu. Reasonable prices. Fries (5/5), perfect crispness, fluffy interior, good flavor. Lavender lemonade (5/5) if you like the lavender flavor, not overpowering, perfect balance of sweet sour and lavender. Double bacon BBQ Burger (5/5), juicy, meaty, a little bit of char, veggies feel fresh, BBQ sauce sweet/tangy and not overwhelming. Chili dog (1/5) simply not good or satisfying in any way, drenched and drowning in weird tasting chili without enough cheese or anything else to taste anything but bad chili. Didn't finish it and left a little hungry. Peanut butter jelly cookie (4/5) very good cookie just doesn't have that 5/5 wow factor. Jelly is not overpowering. Strong PB Flavor. All four house sauces on point (5/5) Overall an amazing experience. Loved the cute old school comforting vibe and atmosphere. The bus seating is so much fun. 5/5 experience, just wouldn't order the chili dog again. Will definitely be back in the future! If you take the chili dog out of the equation, easy 5/5. As Lucky's is a burger and dog place, we have to settle on a 4/5.

First time here, I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger w/a Oreo shake. It was so delicious, the fries were so good. The wait was long but it didn't bother me. I'm coming back!!

Driven by many times but never stopped in. We were craving burgers though and wanted to try something new. At first, we were thinking we would have to eat in the car because it was raining out. Then we saw the bus. It was warm and inviting with music to listen to while we waited. We could hear them call our name there too so we didn't have to stand outside. Our daughter had a great time "driving" while we waited for our food. The adults got burgers and fries and the kids got hot dogs. The burgers, fries and shakes were all great! Will be back soon!

Our first time eating there,my friend and I, Great fun to sit in the drive in bus! The food was great but the service is amazing!! I recommend everyone to check out this unique experience and has nice outdoor seating as well

Wasn't the best. The pickles are THICK slices, their sauce on the burger is a little odd. Nothing super special to write home about. The fries and service was good tho. I won't be back.

Was expecting a basic diner/fast food burger with cheap bun and thrown together messy burger but was blown away. The beautifully toasted bun with thick cut pickles, melted cheddar and crispy lettuce and seasoned beef patties were perfection. It is quick service but the service itself from the front staff was great. The place looked very clean and kept. Definitely worth a drive.

My kiddos love this place, especially eating on the bus. The shakes are delicious. The kiddos love the food. It's a great place to go on a warm day as a treat.

Best burgers. Fries are good and not greasy. The customer service is 10 stars! Friendly and made a small wait for a sandwich right for us.

The food is first rate. Fresh burgers with a ton of options. It's been a long time since I've been there. But it's because I really love a couple other places better.

This looks questionable when you drive by, but this is a great burger, fries and shake for $15. You order at the window and your food is made fresh. You can wait in your car OR you can hang out on the bus/diner. There is a/c and heat. They call your name over the radio so don't worry. Such a great place in Parkland.

A true GEM! I just recently move to Tacoma/ Parkland area and it hasn't been the greatest experience. BUT then there is Lucky's. My kids LOVE it and everytime we pass I hear "ooooh Luckys". Their cherry coke is made by them! Which is my favorite! Their fries are battered lightly and seasoned, so delicious, and the portion is HUGE. The burgers are,of course, amazing and everything is cut fresh and made fresh. There always seems to be a seasonal item, I haven't given those a try but I'm sure they don't disappoint. I would reccomend them, and have, to anyone who wants a good burger meal! Plus they have the cutest burger bus and the line moves quickly, if that has ever stopped you. Highly reccomend you give it a try!

I haven't been to many drive-ins, so I was happy to see tables outdoors! I was fully prepared to unload my kiddo, order, and then pack them back up into the car and eat there haha so I was glad to have a place to sit. Speaking of, I didn't go inside because of the stroller, but they have this amazing old bus renovated to be like a diner inside! It looks so fun. The menu was what I expected from a burger joint - it was nice to see a couple of special burgers, although I just stuck with a double cheeseburger. Their special sauce was really delicious and had a smokey flavor I didn't expect. The patties were pretty good and the bun was soft. I think the fries stole the show for me - they're my favorite type of fry! It was a lot of food for about $15, so I think a pretty good deal if you're really hungry. Very happy with my experience and will be coming back!

I've driven by Lucky Drive-In for the past year and a half, yet I've still never eaten there. After reading a few reviews, I decided to give it a shot for myself. Funny that it's called a drive-in when you have to get out of your car and walk up to the counter to place an order. Pardon my ignorance, that would be a "Drive-through" in lieu of a "Drive-In" haha but whatever; I was curious so I went there. I had the veggie burger and rated it a 3. It was okay. It was actually pretty good. The wait didn't seem too long to me, either. Very good customer service. I really wanted to try the Lucky Bus, but I had to rush off to an appointment, so I didn't have time to get the shakes and fries. Maybe next time I'll combine the food and bus for hopefully a cinematic experience. However, I think they're worth a try!

I get it a local long time favorite, that being said the quality of the burgers aren't that good there's no seasoning and the meat itself has to be the lowest grade of Beef was not juicy at all. Fries were alright frozen pre-seasoned. I did enjoy the Milkshake, hadn't had a Milkshake in a while so it was decent. Fry sauce taste more like tarter sauce with ketchup in it still better for fish not fries. THERE ARE other great burger places that are local in the area I think I'll try them.

ALWAYS A TREAT. I no longer live in the area but whenever I'm within 15 minutes of here I always make It a point to come by. The burgers are simple but lacking flavor. I get the lucky combo with no special sauce, add ketchup and mustard. Comes with picked onions and lettuce. The fries are my absolute favorite and I always dip them I'm their ranch which is homemade. It's on the thicker side so if this isn't your thing, skip It. I can never decide what to drink because their flavored Lemonades are delicious but so are the milkshakes-- so do what your heart feels

The line is so long, waited for about 15-20 minutes before we get our burger. There is nothing special or signature about the burgers that stand out that make you say "WOW". I might return there again someday but it is not like In and Out Burger. It is near my son soccer facility which tempted as we drove past by.

OK, so I've already given this place a five star on their burgers and the root beer shake,,,this afternoon. I tried the chili cheese dog. I upsized and got the large fry and I'm glad I did, because the way they do their chili dogs you won't be able to pick it up, LOL, grab a fork and knife dump your fries in it and you got yourself chili cheese dog and chili cheese fries all in one, really good chili, becoming one of my favorite drive-by burger stops. Nice job, Lucky's Maybe in the future I'll add some pics, but I'm usually so excited to eat the food. I forget to take the pictures lol,,,,give Lucky drive-in a try if you like a good burger, chili dog or shake

Not a fan of smash burgers but the hamburger is always over seasoned of garlic for my family we couldn't eat them but the fries and shakes r great

Best damn burgers, shake, and fries my fiance and I have ever had. Burgers are juicy and flavorful, fries are crispy and fresh, and frankly, a small shake is MORE than enough with how rich they are. The retro atmosphere really adds to it, with the outdoor seating, the bus-turned-diner, the speaker announcements, radio, and the little pop up burger stand aesthetic, it's just- comforting. And for how popular of a stop is it, the staff are nice and the times are quick! We got good memorable food in about five minutes from ordering. And it's fairly affordable! Frankly you can easily share a meal with a partner or friend and it still be enough, and it's about as much as say, a Wendy's combo! Definitely made an impression on us for being new to the area! Will definitely be coming back.

The burgers are yummy, as are the shanks . I got the mushroom Swiss and wifey got the lucky burger . We had a great time sitting I. The old time bus , until a family that wanted to let their son run all over the bus and jump up and down, when we made a comment to him he wanted to take it further, we finally left !! Although it's not really Lucky drive in a fault .... It kinda is !!! Not sure if we'll be back as it ruined our experience!!!!

Nice old school feel. Got the BBQ Bacon burger. They over did the mayo. Hamburger buns are big. Good shakes but on the small side.

They had a veggie burger and it was as great ! I added sautéed mushrooms and onions and the bun held up to that and was delicious! I also had the fries, they are offered with 3 different sauces fry sauce, spicy catsup, garlic aioli, and a mayo based one as well as regular catsup. The small milkshake I chose was banana made with fresh banana and was really thick and good I ended up eating it mostly with a spoon. They had a caramel apple one I really wanted to try but I was afraid it would be too sweet. The girl behind the counter also said they could adjust the sweetness, but I had already decided to not do it. I would go back it was good and don't usually eat at burger places the bus ambiance was fun too -you can eat in their bus!

My dog and I stopped by for dinner. I got the lucky burger with no cheese, fries, and a puppy burger. My fries were hot but way too salty, my burger was cold but my dog's pup burger was warm. This is not my first time coming here so it was a pretty disappointing visit.

First time trying this local place. Was a bit skeptical given the location and outside looks, but as the saying goes, 'don't judge a book by its cover'. This place did not disappoint. We were craving some chili cheese fries since we haven't found a good place in Washington. The burgers were awesome and the fries are great. Will definitely come back.

Yesterday was my first time visiting this joint. I've driven past it many times over the years but never stopped. Last night I was coming from Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park and was intending on finding a Dairy Queen. Decided to go here instead. Best decision of the day! The shakes are the best I've ever had! And the fries are incredible. The place was clean, comfortable and very nostalgic. The staff was super nice and the food was manner. I was surprised that the bill was not that much either. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning! PS. Sorry I didn't post any photos of the food. When my order was ready, it looked so scrumptious I didn't hesitate to dive-in

I have celiac disease. They have a lovely double patty with the fixins in the middle. They actually knew what sauces have wheat! You'd be surprised how often staff doesn't know that. It was yummy and my hubby enjoyed his regular Lucky burger and fries! We ate in the school bus. Very cute and clean. Oldies playing in the background. Best of all, I can just buy the sandwich. I don't have to throw away fries that I have to pay for but can't eat. Thanks!

This place is the best! The real Lavender lemonade was amazing and the blackberry shake was delicious! Giant potions of the most delicious fries ever. (In my opinion) The service is always top notch, everyone is so helpful and friendly. If you want, you can eat in the bus that is on the property. They have it all decked out with tables and a/c in the summer. I have also been in the winter and they have it heated. 10 stars!
