"Dallas-based hot chicken chain Lucky’s is just about ready to debut its second outpost at 6309 Hillcrest Avenue. The restaurant will open on Monday, April 12, offering super-spicy chicken tenders, sandwiches, and red velvet chicken and waffles." - Amy McCarthy

"Lucky's Hot Chicken, the Nashville-style hot chicken restaurant that debuted in East Dallas in mid-September, is adding a second location at 6309 Hillcrest Ave in Highland Park later this year. The Highland Park spot will include a new addition to the Lucky’s menu — boozy frozen cocktails. The retro diner-style restaurant’s first location, at 4505 Gaston Avenue, was an instant hit, with dishes like the Big Lou spicy chicken sandwich, collard greens baked beans, and chicken in five spice levels, from 'kinda lucky' to 'best of luck.'" - Brittanie Shey

Overall I would visit lucky again. This was based off of customer service, food quality and safety. Upon arrival the cashier was not friendly but seemed preoccupied. Another employee who was cooking the food was handling her cellphone then handling food without changing her gloves. The actual food tasted good. The chicken strips were great. The fries were room temp. The restaurant was clean and kept in order.

4 stars for the food but 5 stars because there's complimentary soft serve with a purchase of a meal! How nice is that! I got the three tender plate with the shake fries. I was initially disappointed by the size of the tenders but I honestly would have been full with 2. The toast was nice and buttery, and the shake fries were well-seasoned too! I got the basic southern because I can't handle spice. Not at the level of Mike's Chicken (at least for the non-spicy aspects) and a little more $$ ($12+ for my plate) but would come here again.

We went to this location per my son's request for his b day. It was amazing staff was nice we received our food quickly. It was pricy but we'll worth it. We ordered the tenders in two hot levels basic southern & Lucky AF. Also had Shake fries and Mac & Cheese. My daughter order the Red Velvet waffles and chicken. Everything was fresh and hot tenders came with jalapeno ranch dipping sauce and honey mustard. The toast came with it was nice and toasted so good and soft. Definitely was worth time and money.

A must try. We had the chicken tenders one plain and the other medium spicy. Also, tried the fries, Mac and Cheese, and coleslaw. Each one equally good. If you are not a fan of paprika or chili spice you might ask them to not season the sides. This is a great chicken place with fast friendly service and a simple menu.

I recently visited Lucky’s for lunch and was really impressed with the location, ambiance, and the food. I have tried hot chicken from a few different places and Lucky’s definitely gets it right. I got my three tender combo Lucky AF and it was definitely hot, I would recommend going a level lower if you can’t handle much spice.

Nice atmosphere and clean. Staff were friendly and patient. Was a bit disappointed by the amount of fries for what I paid, with that said, chicken was very fresh, hot and crispy. The seasoning was okay, tasted like it needed something else added. Was looking for that balance of sweet, salty and savory. Would have liked to have been able to wrap that grilled bread around the chicken strip. Next time will get a side of coleslaw too. The Lucky sauce had some tang to it if you like that flavor. Drinks not included, but reasonably priced as an add on. Not a long wait and food is prepared within your sight.

The chicken was ok. The fries were ok. The bread was burnt. The macaroni and cheese was ok. The service was really friendly and fast.

Made our way out to the Hillcrest location! The Big Lou is usually my go to, along with the Howlin Fries, but had to try the red velvet chicken and waffles this time. Keep in mind that for even those with a high spice tolerance, this chicken is HOT. So be careful when choosing your head level.
