Josiah Citrin and Hans Rockenwagner to Open a Throwback Steakhouse in Culver City | Eater LA

"I observed that last summer the building was bought by the owner of nearby dive bar Backstage and briefly reopened as a mellow dinner spot called Lucky's, but that concept seemingly didn't take." - Farley Elliott

We've been to this spot twice in one week (our first and second time ever) and had two different food experiences. Tuesday trivia night was a blast: great energy, topics, content, host and even better food. The wings and lamb kebabs we had were both absolutely delicious. We came back on Friday and ordered the wings again. They came out a little colder than ideal, but to the staff’s credit, they swapped them out right away without any fuss. The replacement wings were just as fantastic as the first time: crispy, flavorful, orgasmic and satisfying. They were also accompanied (which we requested) by a delicious shrimp aioli sauce. We also tried the fish and chips this time, and unfortunately, it was a letdown. The coating was way too thick, and the fish inside was bland and lacking seasoning. Wouldn’t recommend that particular dish. That said, the service was excellent both times: friendly, responsive, and on point. We'll definitely be back for the trivia and wings, just not the fish and chips. Still recommend!

Lucky’s is pretty nice and Jack is a real asset. The Lamb Shanks and Fish and Chips were incredible. They also had a touch of detail with thousand island sauce. The meringue was amazing too! Will be coming back!

Ordered the fish and chips, heavily battered uncooked inside. Took almost 2 hours to receive our meal. Felt like our server was avoiding our table. I heard they recently hired a new chef. Wouldn't recommend going anytime soon till everything gets worked out. Cocktails were good.

Lucky's is literally one of my newer favorite restaurants and bars in Rochester. The food is always fantastic and great quality, and everyone working there is wonderful. They have a lovely quirky yet classy vibe, the dimmed-light ambiance is perfect for a cute date at their full bar or celebrating something special with a group on the dining side. They have a rotating menu with both favorites that stick around and seasonal items that change frequently enough to keep you coming back. Their vegetarian dishes are fresh and light, really showcasing the unique flavors of what's in season. Their meats are usually high quality, cut very well, with steaks cooked to order. You can't go wrong with their market steak and lamb shank dishes. Order their home-cut fries with the steak and try their Lucky sauce! We love to share this one too if we want other things off the menu. The curry chicken wings are also *muah* delish. Love the sauce paired with them. I'm not sure if they still have the Chicken Nuggies (handmade chicken nuggets) those are a fave too. And last but not least their desserts are always on-point, like their current sweet-yet-tart strawberry rhubarb cheesecake. One of the highlights of the whole experience, I think, is when you get a chance to chat it up with their head bartender and the other gals and girls who stir and shake it up, making mystery drinks that surprise your tastebuds or keeping it cool with an old goody. They have all sorts of spirits and mixers, making for a really fun craft cocktail experience if you're open to try new things. I can't say more wonderful things about this restaurant. They've done such a great job here, and I hope you give them a try! P.S. There is parking and some outdoor seating, with a few restaurants across the street giving it a little Park Ave #2 vibe! You do want to go with plenty of time before the kitchen closes if you want food as sometimes it does get busy, especially on a weekend. Order extra to take home with you, Cheers!

Google
Probably my favorite restaurant in Rochester. Love all the creative cocktails and the decor. Servers are always friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Dining as a vegetarian, with my husband who isn't, is a breeze. They always have a delicious, elegant menu item or two for me to try. I've never had the same thing twice.

Google
Lovely food as always.. and the libations are delicious. I had asked for additional anchovies , Paul the Chef made a huge effort to accommodate my need for salty fish!! A true Gem for Rochester and a treat in the North Winton Village. Completely professional Crew working there!!

Google
Great drinks great atmosphere was not A fan of the Fish and chips. Wings were great. They ran out of steak 🤣 so we didn't have a chance to rder any. The drinks were great. Night and day makeover from what this place used to be.

Yelp
Loved this place near Brown croft area. You can eat at the bar , restaurant or outdoors. Staff was kind and accommodating. It was dimly lit. Bar tables and the stools are backless not my favorite but the bar is fully stocked. TONS OF options. Food was good! The menu is concise with 5 or appetizers, 5 burger or handheld options and 5 main entrees. We had an appetizer special of goat cheese and tomato sauce with bread for dipping . This was very tasty. We also shared an order of the fish and chips. This was excellent. Crispy fresh and good fries. And....the thicker cut coleslaw was excellent. And I never compliment the coleslaw so this was really good We will definitely come back!!

Yelp
I frequent Lucky's a few times a month, not just for their pub burger for a Saturday brunch, but also for their prie fix, themed dinners and more recently their once a month fun dinner! The curry inspired dinner was particularly delicious! I loved the lassi cocktail, the lamb was tender and well seasoned, and the dessert was just the right amount of tart :)

Yelp
I don't know, I'd like to visit again but I don't know. I'm torn between the menu of regular type items like fish and chips fancied up with what seems to be a more labor intensive tartar sauce "gribiche" and the prices (daily chowder was a 20 something $ bowl of squash soup) relative to a neighborhood type establishment. Maybe I'm just confused by it all. The food certainly wasn't disappointing and they seemed to have a good crowd, glad for their success.

Yelp
I was quite lucky to be treated to brunch at Lucky's by friends! The food was incredible, and the service was fantastic as well. Everything on the table tasted better than the last thing. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
3.5/5 good brunch but lacking in a couple of areas, especially at their price point Cute interior, a little noisy especially at popular hours, but a fine place to have brunch with friends! We were there for brunch at 11 on a Saturday, and it took about ~15 minutes for our food to come out. Brulee'd Grapefruit: 5/5 my favorite thing I got! So fun to break the layer of sugar on top, and the grapefruit was perfectly tart. Fries: 4/5 crispy and served hot! knocking off a point because they were extremely salty, but easily fixed by shaking the tray a bit to get rid of the large salt chunks Smoked Salmon Rosti: 4/5 the rosti was crispy, delicious, and well-seasoned, but the large dollop of cream cheese was overpowering. Breakfast Sammy: 2/5 a little too oily. I couldn't taste the "Lucky Sauce" at all, which I was hoping would cut the oiliness of the egg, cheese, and bacon. While the biscuit was buttery, it wasn't very flakey and felt quite small for the price ($12).

Yelp
It's been a few years since my initial review of Lucky's, and though I haven't been updating my reviews or taking many photos of my food there, Lucky's is on our regular rotation, and we are usually there 2 or 3 times a month. We find the atmosphere enjoyable, the food is always delicious, they can almost always fit us in even when they are busy, and we love knowing that when we visit we are going to have a great experience. Here are some notes from our past 3 recent visits plus one more memorable experience: -- We were just there last Sunday for dinner; the place was surprisingly empty, but it was also the Sunday after Thanksgiving...After getting seated, we had the chance to see the Sunday supper served to the table next to us. It was a pork chop with veggies and the popover, and looked awesome, but after all the eating we had done for the holiday, we just wanted 'simple' meals, so we opted for the fish & chips and pub burger. These are two SOLID dishes on the menu. The pile of fries we always get is also delish, and we appreciate having squeeze bottles of all the sauces (ketchup, mustard, malt vinegar and their Lucky sauce) on the table. One thing I'll note is that the slaw that comes with the fish & chips is always different - sometimes in it's own dish served on the side, sometimes on the same plate as the fish, sometimes it's more vinegar-based, sometimes more mayo-based - I haven't had one I didn't like yet and I actually like how they mix it up. -- The next most-recent visit was a not-too-distant Sat, where my hubby had the Sat night special lamb shanks (can never go wrong with shanks!) and I had the cauliflower buckwheat crepes. The crepes were FANTASTIC and HUGE. It seemed to be an entire head of cauliflower in the crepe, but the way it was cooked, the seasonings, and the sauce drizzled over the top - let's just say you don't need to be afraid of you vegetables here. They are really doing them right. I'll also note that on this visit we saw numerous friends that we know - all with groups - just goes to show this place is a local fave. -- We were also there on a Monday night in mid Oct with friends from Spain who were buying us dinner. Lucky's is always open Monday nights, which is great when so many others of our fave spots are closed. While I don't remember exactly what we ate, I know this particular night included a lot of drinking and toasting, with beer, wine and whiskey all on the table at the same time, as my hubby hadn't seen these folks in almost 20 years. Our server was great - super attentive, great with making recommendations, and I just remember we sat there almost 2 hrs and were never asked to vacate the table. I know we ate because we were still able to walk out of there without any issue....but the drinking made the bigger impression. -- One more experience I can share is from last winter....we had wandered into Lucky's after a day of xc skiing, and were really hungry. I believe it was a Friday night because their Fri special is a market fish, and on this occasion they had a bouillabaisse available. We ordered a salad, the bouillabaisse, another cup or bowl of some kind of soup (I think it was a chowder), and a couple glasses of wine, and we sat at a high-top table in the bar area. The bar felt crowded but the it was really cozy in our little corner, and the server assigned to us was excellent at checking in, refilling drinks, and making sure we were happy. Overall, I just want to reiterate that Lucky's is one of our favorites for their consistency, great food, great service and hours. In summer we like to sit outside; when they are crowded we appreciate how they always fit us in, and we also love it for going with a group. Definitely check it out if you're not already a fan!

Yelp
Ok first things first I was here for a WINE DINNER so I have no clue what the regular fare is like. So.. the more you know. A friend and I went to a wine dinner that featured some Italian Wines and it was four courses. This is a specific menu made by their head chef. We sat in the upstairs space that basically seats maybe 20 people. When you walk in one one side a long bar, tv's and tables, on the right side more tables and a hostess stand. That area when you walk right in can be a bit congested. This place is from the Good Luck Restaurant group. I will say this, staff is attentive and helpful this is a plus. The menu for the wine dinner was lovely but that last course of the coffee panna cotta with the biscotti granola was kind of a misstep. Why, it's evening and a lot of people are not fans of anything coffee in the evening or maybe it's just me. The pairing of the licorice liquor was lovely but I would have been happy with a freshly made biscotti to dunk into the liquor. The other courses like the desert were paired with some lovely and refreshing white and a smooth red wine. The Menu: olive oil poached tuna toast almond, orange, celery leaf Fattoria Alois Falanghina Campania 2021 SECOND COURSE spelt mafaldine al cartoccio fennel flowers, cantaloupe, prosciutto Donna Paolina Greco di Tufo Campania 2021 THIRD COURSE oxtail ragnatela kabocha polenta Fattoria Alois Aglianico Campania 2018 FOURTH COURSE coffee panna cotta biscotti granola Paolina Liquore di Liquorizia Campania Ok a few things first course the whole almonds I was not feeling it, maybe slivers would have been a better mix all in all the first course was good The second course of the pasta in a parcel was nice and well balanced. The third course Just yum, the umami, the hit of heat, the smooth polenta it was a star course. I already talked about the last. All in all the menu was very good. The way to go about this is when you see that are doing this. You register and pay on Tock. Everything is included in the price including gratuity. If you want to order a cocktail you are welcome but you will pay for that on-site as they do give you a a drinks menu. The wine maker and the distributor were in attendance and you could order wines from a wine store in Greece. All in all it was a nice dinner, you sat just with your party a plus cause sharing a table is fine but sometimes you just wanna be with your crew. What I understand they have a nice cocktail program and I might want to try that an maybe some apps if they have an outside space in the warmer months. Parking is a small lot and street.

Yelp
The waiter Krista was very unprofessional would not allow us to be seated. Claim that they had reservations on a Monday and could not seat us. As we were currently speaking the total restaurant was empty. Terrible service. I went back an hour later after the restaurant was open still plenty of room. I'm just a visitor from out of town made me feel totally unwelcome. So we went to another restaurant right across the street to spend our $300. Lucky's ain't so lucky

Yelp
Luckys has been on my list to try for quite a while. I met a few friends for dinner, one of them is a regular... And we had a delightful meal! They were in the process of switching over their menus for some items were not available including some of the cocktails. We all ordered the Don Elote which build itself is a corn cocktail but there is a very little corn to be tasted. My sister and I still dream of the corn cocktail we had in New York City last summer and this did not hold a candle to it. The tofu sandwich was good but spicy and the side of fries is super generous. One of our friends ordered salad with dressing on the side it came on top, the waitress offered to exchange it. The lamb kebabs were also a big hit. Great vibe, would be fun to sit at the bar, can't wait to go back and try the new menu

Yelp
3.5 stars. Came here with a group for dinner. They have a parking lot in the back which is nice. Ordered and tried several of their items including appetizer wings, clams, fish fry, sides of fries and brussel sprouts. I would say that the food here is hearty American. My favorite part was definitely the wings appetizer. Crispy and flavorful, worth a try! Fries were disappointing (came out hot but not at all crispy and portions were very small for $9 each). Entrees came out on huge plates and big portions which was fun. Clams were cooked properly, I thought the broth was interesting (a tomato base with potatoes); in addition, I feel that it should come with a side of bread to dip into the broth. Fish fry was just OK. Very thick beer batter that was extremely greasy and came with coleslaw and fries. Brussel sprouts sides were decent, but again, a tiny portion for price. I also tried the local root beer and ginger ale which came from a bottle which was OK. The average food price came out to $50 per person prior to tax and tip (not including drinks which were about $11+ for cockails). Overall, a standard and decent mid-scale American place. Not my personal cup of tea, but probably a good place for big groups or to go with coworkers.

Yelp
Seems like a few of my friends seem to really like Luckys. It was not necessarily for me. I went there Saturday around 6:30 PM. It looks like Saturday was lamb shank special. It's been awhile for lamb shank, I was slightly excited. We got drinks and by 715 we made our order. First question to the waiter. "How are the lamb shanks?". The waiter said it's very nice. Unfortunately the last just was ordered. That's their special on Saturday and they're already out by 7:15. Hmm?? Oh by the way, although there were people there, possibly it was maybe 60-70% filled, it was far from busy. Keep in mind it was right before July 4 . One point though the waiter could not have been any better, so no complaints about that. I ended up ordering a hamburger. Now, the restaurant basically has about four or five sandwiches, including the hamburger, I don't know maybe six or seven entrées, and then the special of the day, which was as I said, was, lamb shanks. It doesn't take much to have a good hamburger, right! The burgers that was ordered the actual meat was probably fine. But for me to be slightly disappointed by a hamburger it's got to be something worse than average. To me I believe the bun they had was just too Doughy. I know it probably seems like not that important but when you figure the hamburger sandwich is at least 50% bread, it should be good enough that you don't think less of the meal. Well, a few days later, I made my own hamburger with a nice hard bun from Wegmans, which was 1000 times better By the way, two days later, I talk to one of my friends who goes to that restaurant and told me he didn't think I would like it. I told him about the web shank drama. He told me I had the lamb shank last time, and he did not like it. So maybe I missed a y bullet on that lamb shank after all (lol) So, as I said, the combination of being out of their specials, so early & would I considered a mediocre hamburger at best, I'm in no rush to come back.

Yelp
Lucky's is where we go to unwind, especially on Whiskey Wednesdays! Great food, great drinks, and great people. We love that it's bright, clean, and not absolutely loud. Home away from home.

Yelp
Girls night out and decided to try "Lucky's". Heard it is owned by the same people who started "Good Luck".... How could we go wrong? Started with a sparkling Brut Rose' which was $9, and had a delicious Caesar salad $12 (tasty dressing with a very surprising crunch too). My only issue with the salad.....it was served in the tiniest white bowl I've ever tried to eat anything in, let alone a salad! Made zero sense. To say it was messy is an understatement. My salad kept falling out and on the table. LOL - they may want to rethink this. For dinner I did the Chicken Confit $23 - disappointed in the small portion of actual meat on this small leg of chicken, but everything else about it was amazing. Enjoyed the thick cut bacon pieces and roasted Brussels sprouts too. My two guests enjoyed their meal too- one did the Chicken Confit like I did, same reaction to the dish, and the other did the Eggplant dish which was over a tahini feta sauce and topped with greens - this dish will HAUNT ME, it was just THAT GOOD! Keep up the great work at Lucky's - one of the most interesting and eclectic menus I have seen in a while! Btw - our waitress AMY deserves a mention - A+++ and made our evening complete. Thank you, Amy!

Yelp
The veggie burger was absolutely disgusting. My husband said his fish and chips was the worst he has had. The fries are wayyyy too salty. It's expensive too so I was expecting great food. We still joke about how bad it was. It's dark so I guess if you're on a 1st date, that might be good.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Cute spot but the drinks seem to mainly be pre made. Not a lot of variety for cocktail choices. Rotating menu for food, which is nice but usually is unique food that is pricey. Would love for them to stay open later and to have more specials.

Tammy T.

Yelp
Lucky's looked like a nice place from the outside, but we never got a chance to go in. It was 8:30 on a Wednesday night and there were plenty of open tables in the dining area (none in the bar) but they have a rule against seating folks (outside of the bar) who do not plan to order food. Just a warning to others who might try to go for just drinks and want to sit down, too.
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Overall we had a very good experience here! We came in for a Friday night reservation and got seated in the upstairs dining room. It was a little quieter up there, but still noisy. The salad, burger, and fries were all great! The fish was a little bland, but nice and crispy. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I would definitely come back in the future.

Yelp
Have been here several times and always have a great experience. Great food. Friendly servers. Yummy cocktail list. Busy vibe but your can still chat with friends and actually hear them.

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Slipped in a huge puddle of meaty burger grease that clearly came out of the vent from the kitchen as I walked back to my car in the parking lot. Went back in for a towel to scrape some of it off and the bartender got weirdly defensive and told me it wasn't from them. Cool, thanks.

Yelp
I've been to Lucky's three or four times now - always sitting outside and always drinking spiked lemonade. I had exclusively positive experiences with the entire bar staff, the gorgeous interior, and of course the great outdoor seating. The space is rustic and cozy and the menu is wide ranging, with burgers, brunch, and more unique options available. I haven't been in to eat yet, and will update this review when I finally do. I've never been swayed to eat here because of the menu and prices, but the few brunch options all look outstanding and I have heard that the curried wings are a win. They offer trivia on Tuesdays which I have yet to attend because of COVID, but look forward to coming out for some later, vaccinated day. Overall, an excellent addition to the neighborhood and a fun destination for outdoor seating when the weather is right. Looking forward to updating my review soon, but in the meantime - order a vodka lemonade and pretend it is summer.

Yelp
Went for drinks at the bar and then dinner for three. Paid and when checked my account the next day I was charged THREE times for dinner. NO ONE answers the phone till after 4pm when they open and days later went in to get the refund. I had to go back in to get my money returned and it could have been done the FIRST day on the phone. GAMES! I will never go there again, and I will tell everyone my horrible experiences.
google avatar

Yelp
Used to be better. We've enjoyed going to Lucky's since it opened prepandemic. Really enjoyed the food, service, and the ambiance. Recently, the food seems to have taken a downhill turn. For example on our most recent visit, the menu choices seemed to be not as strong as in the past. We ordered the special appetizer - the fried squash was great (even my husband who doesn't like squash likes it), but the burrata beneath hot, fried squash was cold - which seemed like a miss for a $17 dish. With our entrees, the fries were way, way too salty. We do like Lucky's and will go again, hoping they get back to the level of our previous experiences.

Yelp
Can I rate the service different from the food? I moved here from Long Island Ny and have been in some very high end establishments. This staff acted like they were doing me a favor for answering questions. I can sadly say they were more rude than any establishment I have been in for a while. The food or what I had was amazing every bite but the self righteous staff put a bit of a stain on my willingness to return. The waiter was knowledgeable and good even though he wasn't serving me. The bartender acted as if she was entitled. I am in the service industry I would never want my staff to act so privileged. I also never complain so that's saying something too.

Yelp
We had been wanting to try Lucky's before the lock down started but didn't have a chance. Indoor seating and outdoor seating are an option now with reservations recommended. At 12noon on a Sunday, there were no other tables on our side of the indoor dining. To start, they have a large private parking lot which is nice with a neighborhood spot. Inside is a chill, casual hang out vibe. Maybe not a date night spot but definitely for a quick drink or night out with friends. Our server was friendly and prompt! Definitely appreciated more during these crazy stressful times. We tried the Curried Wings, the Green Eggs and Ham frittata (brunch menu), the Fried Cod and the Cinnamon Bun (brunch menu). I did ask if the potatoes could be removed from the frittata but they were unable to do so which likely indicates, it's mixed ahead of time. I still enjoyed it. But it would be nice to have that option in the future. I also enjoyed their Bloody Mary which is a simple version without a ton of garnish but I felt it was a good mix. I'd like to see a boozy coffee option on the menu. Maybe some Irish cream or Whiskey Cream. I'd like to return in the future and would definitely get the wings again!

Jessica W.

Yelp
Definitely rate these folks 10 of 10, we love Lucky's! Great food, service, and drinks too!

Yelp
This is a nice spot on Winton. The decor is cozy and clean. The appetizers are bigger portions. Some of us ordered the Friday special. It was fresh and well seasoned. The waiter was attentive and very helpful on drinks suggestions. We will go back to try other specials at another time.

Molly G.

Yelp
Went for a girls dinner and we all ordered either the burger or the fish and chips which were all good. Service was fast but our server wasn't overly friendly, she seemed annoyed which maybe they were short staffed? I don't know any details but it was a good meal with great friends!

Yelp
I'm not a hipster but much respect to all you artisan crazies. First time visit but I promise you, I'll be back. Lots of pride in the food and drink at Lucky's. Our server Jack made every item on the menu seem like some kind of renaissance poem. We ended up sharing the Sunday special, which was the perfect pick for us. Taking a peek at all the different plates being served, I'm pretty sure we would've been good with any dish on the menu. And oh, Jack was genuinely excited for us for choosing the special. Amazing food and service.

Tara B.

Yelp
Lucky's never disappoints. Atmosphere is always cozy and welcoming - busy but not too busy. Bartender was friendly and attentive. We stopped in for a drink and a snack after seeing a show. Sat at the bar and enjoyed a delicious cocktail. Husband and I shared the burger and 'beef fat fries' which were perfect for a late night treat.

Marcy Donatelli N.

Yelp
I really like Lucky's on Winton Road N. I am there at least once a month. My friend and I sit at the bar for drinks. We go early so the noise level isn't too much, and it does get quite loud at the bar during Happy Hour span. This does not effect the dining areas in my opinion. Great place for a casual meal with friends, attentive servers and reasonable wait time. The most important reason I frequent Lucky's to eat is because they can accommodate my severe food allergies! Lucky's uses beef fat for their fries- I'm in heaven. It is very rare to find an establishment that doesn't use vegetable oil! (This is also called SOY oil) Thank you, Lucky's! I have noticed that the food quality is slowly deteriorating over the pasty year, and this very sad because finding a great neighborhood restaurant/bar can be hard to find. I will continue to frequent Lucky's, but I've had to let my friends know about the food ahead of time.

Robert L.

Yelp
Food and service over all was very good, ordered oysters and calamari for appetizers and got a lamb kabobs from a business associate of the son in law as a thank you. Grand kids got burgers and hot dogs, kids got burgers and chicken, and me and the wife got salmon and rib eye steak and all came with great fries, fried in beef fat. Those were so good. I got the rib eye steak, rare of course as that is the only way to eat a steak, and we all got desert afterwords. Meals, appetizers, wine, and other drinks, the total with tip came to almost $400 with the steak being $70 of it.....It was by far one of the worst steaks I've ever had, slathered in some sauce. Any decent steak by itself only needs salt and grilled right, sauce is there to hide the taste. This I ate only half of, and then picked at everyone else's food. If you like your steak well done slathered in a sauce thats kind of A1 brown gravy with a cheese base you may like it. Now to be fair, I am a steak snob. Love steak, and love lamb. Both should only be eaten rare and really only need salt to complement, and the kabobs were really good. In fact I held back as I was expecting a great steak. And had I ordered the 18 dollar kabobs as a main course, I'd have given 5 stars but the steak really sucked.

Yelp
My group of 4 ordered a good variety of dishes off the menu. Most left much to be desired. The good ones were: the wings- great dry rub, but the raw carrot shavings on the wings were odd. Wax beans- the whipped tofu was really the star. little neck clams- great sauce and potatoes in with the clams. The bad were: The burger- small and had nothing special to make it stand out from any other burger. Fries only came with ketchup, come on. Crab crepe- they were out of crab so it was a rock shrimp crepe instead. What came out was a bowl of so much canned tasting corn, whole button mushrooms, and 3 shrimp chopped small covered with one very plain tasting crepe. Total disappointment. The hoa fee- the smoked tofu had such a Smokey flavor that it took over the entire sandwich. The fries were great and salty, but again, only ketchup to dip. Lame. Overall, would not return.

Yelp
Charming venue with a creative menu. The staff is so much fun. They treat you like friends as soon as you walk in. For appetizers, we had the lamb skewers which were served with dill sauce, hummus, and crispy garbanzo beans. As the entree, we had the smoked tofu sandwich which had greens and avocado. It came with a flavorful side salad that included greens, tomatoes, radishes, carrots, and the delicious dressing. Props to this place for not charging $3 for a side salad and making it a salad of substance. Of course, we had to try their fries too, which were crispy and tasty with flavorful dipping sauce.

Yelp
The service was very attentive, the food was AMAZING, and I would absolutely go here again and again. It was a very chill atmosphere, you could dress up a little and not feel out of place, or dress casually and be comfortable. The vanilla ice cream was so good, I can't even begin to describe it. And their chicken pot pie was devoured almost immediately. I'm sad to say I never got to try the fries, but that just means I have to try them when I go again.

Yelp
Four stars for their service to ROC and the cool combo of sauce and dip. The wings were cooked through nicely. The sour sweet fruity sauce on the wings and the green-ish yogurt dip really worked together though the dip on its own tasted weirdly grassy. However, these wings did need some additional salt. Or maybe it was because they couldn't add a lot of sauce to prevent leaking. I guess having the sauce in a container on the side can solve it. For 14 dollars you get 10 big wings (drums and flats), which was a good deal. I ate 3 and saved the rest. I arrived on time (5:30 pm on a Thursday) and was told to wait for a few minutes when I called. It was about 15 minute wait FYI. Also this type of lightly fried wings (no breading) in general don't travel well, if you care about this kind of thing.

Yelp
Lucky's opened Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020. We caught a D&C article and were headed across the street, decided to give them a try. The menu is a little eclectic, maintaining the requisite burger for safety. We had: Duck Toast Tartine - flavorful, but a little hard to tell you were eating duck(vs. dark meat chicken). A thin spread of the duck mixture grilled, plus a sauce, razor thin radishes, baby greens on a thick piece of darker bread toast. As I said it had great flavor. Shepherd's Pie in a square ramekin. Braised lamb, perhaps cut slightly too close - we had a couple bits of gristle in the ground mixture. Root vegetables, and Pureed Chick Peas instead of mashed potatoes. Seasoned wonderfully and an adequate portion. In this day of supersized portions this was not. It was also $16, not $20-22 for a beef and potato version available elsewhere around town. Brick-Roasted Half Chicken with pickled vegetable garnish and Chimichurri. My wife had the Chimichurri on the side instead of baked onto the chicken. The meal was flavorful and the Chimichurri and pickled vegetables were great. We also ordered a side of their French Fries - skin on thin, julienned strips fried and seasoned excellently. My wife had unsweetened Iced Tea - a fairly small glass (8-10 oz. vs. 12-16) and she wasn't sure that refills were included - the waitress didn't ask/offer. I had the Switchel #2 "0 proof" Raw Ginger, Date Nectar, Apple Cider Vinegar and Banana. Surprising. You are primed to expect something heavy based on the ingredients to be surprised by a surprisingly light refreshment. It was served in an old fashioned glass. I could have drunk double that, easily, particularly given it's served over rocks. The waitress was good, answered our questions. Did not refill water or ask about refilling Iced Tea. Currently the only dessert is a Root Beer Float with House made (?) Vanilla Ice Cream. We didn't try it, but it sounded good. This is not home cooked, seasoned fare. As I said, it's eclectic and flavorful. Not a lot of sides included with the meals so it can get pricey fairly quickly. Our tab came to $72+. Yes, we'd likely spend that much across the street for slightly less eclectic but we would have larger portions. I have to admit that their perhaps signature dish, the Steak Frites had my attention. 16 oz. Butcher Cut, Fries, Herb Butter, Demi weighs in at $42 - about double any other entree (the 1/2 Chicken is next in line at $24). The 16 oz. Delmonico with two sides (e.g. Asparagus and Baked/mashed/fries) runs about $25 across the street. Aside from "butcher cut" there's nothing to give away a special pedigree (e.g. dry aged xx days) to warrant the price difference. I didn't have it so I can't speak to it. I am merely posting the information. I'm hoping someone on a looser budget will get it and weigh in for me.

Yelp
Crazy this place used to be Wintonaire. I know it's basic bitch stuff but the cheeseburger is off the rails good. Great beer selection tried the Strangebird NEIPA was not disappointed. Great date night spot and yes you can park in front of the lamp store if you want. Yeah a friggin lamp store where you can buy and sell lamps! It's nuts but true. Anyway wintonaire was gross but this new place is cool and hip.

Yelp
Never have had a bad meal here. We love the area and the food is great! In my opinion I would recommend this for food over Winfield.

Yelp
Not only is the food amazing, but the service is even better. Every time I dine here I request Jack because he elevates the experience.

Yelp
We go here a lot--and there's a lot of good overall. Great drinks. Nice people. Good vibes. A bit overpriced and the food can be hit or miss but a solid neighborhood spot.

Yelp
Rarebit Did not resemble Rarebit. Dry very salty. As with most dishes heavy handed with salt. Fried were coated. Guys you can add salt but you can't take it off

Yelp
Great addition to the North Winton area. Now with COVID restrictions lessened, finally able to get my family to go. Great brunch beautiful menu that changes per what the chefs want to serve. So much better than the Wintonaire that had one of the most cuckoo bar scenes. The scene at Lucky is highly trendy but won't leave you traumatized. Will go back. They could do a little better with the fries
