The burgers are amazing6. It was a good-sized juicy burger on a sweet sourdough bunqoth all the fixings. The fries are hand cut and cooked in beef fat, another big pluse. The chill cheese tots were very good. Nice mild, flavorful chill with a good amount of cheese. Th ice cream is homemade, creamy flavorful, and not overly sweet. This is a very welcoming place. The servers were friendly and fast. We were welcomed on the way in and thanked on our way out. The America First flag flying out front along with the pro 2A signage and decor are another big pluse. This is the kind of American small business you want to support. We will definitely be coming back for more.

I got sat down, and it took 45 min to get my food. Service was slow it took a while to get my drink I ordered. There was another guy that came in after I did beside me and ordered after me, and he still got his food before me. My burger was good, and the chili cheese fries weren't bad, but there were several hard, crunchy ones in it. To me, it's not worth the wait for the service you get and the time waiting.

Google
I can not believe yesterday was the first time we've been to Lucy's!!!! I had the Hawaiian burger (so good, love the bun also). Man even their tea was awesome, husband got their homemade banana pudding ice-cream. Exceptional flavor I was surprised by it. The owner was making sure that patrons were happy. What a hidden jem!! Definitely check them out!! Wish we had taken a photo of our food and the atmosphere.

2025 03 01 - What does 2-days-in-a-row tell ya? Still fantastic but I didn't like the bleu cheese burger as much as the Texan Burner. Today the fries were cold. 2025 02 28 - Best burger I've had in a very long time. I highly recommend the Texan Burner. Service was perfect.

Lucy’s Big Burgers is big on flavor! From the juicy burgers to the homemade ice cream, Lucy’s Big Burgers is a must when in Abilene. The food is worth a visit alone, however the service deserves extra recognition. An elderly couple using mobility assistance devices entered the restaurant. When the owner Amy saw them and recognized that the next table to be seated was at a high table on another side of the restaurant, the owner directed the couple to a large table close to the entrance. I approached the owner after this as knowing others with mobility challenges would have wanted the same treatment for them. The owner then explained how she makes all the ice cream there and that chocolate is her favorite. The burgers we ordered were grilled to perfection - well seasoned without being overbearing. Their homemade ketchup packed a punch and went well with their fresh cut fries. We were less enthusiastic about their chicken bites but everything else beat our expectations. Highly recommend for the food and for the service. Note the opening hours: Monday to Thursday 11 am - 2 pm, Friday & Saturday 11 am - 9 pm, closed on Sundays

If you want a burger in Abilene, you don’t want to miss this! They close early so make sure to stop by for lunch! They offer homemade fat beef patties and hand cut fries. The veggies are fresh and the pickles are sliced longways and so crispy! In addition to great taste, the ambiance shows great taste too! Sweet tea is served in a wide mouth mason jar, waitresses wear denim shirts and have hair tied back with bandanas reminiscent of Rosie the Riveter. The walls are covered in flags, nostalgic signs, motorcycle pics and cowboys. Definitely a hard working American vibe! Fun place, with excellent service and reasonable prices! Oh and don’t forget the homemade ice team to top it off!

Google
First time visiting. Burger was amazing. Onion Rings were good. The homemade coconut ice cream and banana pudding ice cream were both some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Service was spot on. Never allow the tea to get below half a jar (they use mason jars) but was not over bearing. This will probably be at least a once a month night out.

Had the number 1 for lunch today and it was amazing! Absolutely loved it. The portion size was great and my husband and I both left full. Would definitely recommend this spot and will be returning 👌

Yelp
Lucy's have great burgers and fries. I've never tried anything else on the menu as I come for the burgers. They do have some great ice cream with changing flavors. The servers are always very nice and helpful. Great home town type ambiance.

Yelp
My family came here on our trip back from Dallas/Fort Worth. I picked it because they had a traditional patty melt and all beef hot dogs. My oldest son ordered a cheeseburger dry, my other son opted for an all beef corn dog and my husband and I split a patty melt and I had them add a patty for an uncharge of $5.99. I asked for the fries to be well done but honestly they came out limp. The food was good, service was decent but getting the food took quite awhile and the establishment wasn't busy so I'm not sure what that was about. My boys split a double scoop of ice cream. One opted for pecan and the other chocolate. Total cost was $52 but I was perplexed at an uncharge of Swiss cheese on the patty melt for $1.50ish. I was too tired from traveling to inquire but ALL uncharges should be discussed upfront. I would come here again.

Yelp
Found this place on YELP. My wife had the burger and fries; I had the chili cheese dog (requested grated cheddar not that nasty liquid cheese that's served on cheap nachos) and tots. Everything was really good, especially the chili. (Might try the Frito pie next time.) The highlight of the meal was the homemade peanut butter ice cream. MUCH better than the chocolate. Mariah was an excellent server.

Yelp
First, I hate to give anyplace a bad review for one meal, so this is a "tempered" review. Let me start by saying that I've eaten a Lucy's many times starting at the old location on Treadaway. It's typically been very good to excellent. That's probably why tonight was so disappointing. I'm about to be put on a diet, so I thought I'd enjoy one last Lucy's burger before the torture. I didn't go with the "Senior" which I would have considered the best burger bargain in Abilene. I ordered the full blown Lucy with cheese. I was so looking forward to that and fries. I hate to relate how disappointed I was. It's usually not a good sign when your burger is delivered just moments after ordering it. This was no exception. The burger was overcooked and try, which isn't typical at all and the fries were very different. They were more white and tasted like they had been sitting a long time. You know something is badly wrong when I leave fries and part of a burger on my plate. They are usually so good, so I'm going to give them 4 stars for their past and take away a star tonight. I'm hoping this was just a very off night. Their ice cream was great, as always.

Yelp
I arrived at 1pm fully expecting the rest of my party to be right behind me. By 1:20 it was fully apparent that the person I was waiting on wasn't coming soon. This might have been frustrating for our server Heather, but she didn't let it show.we ordered without said human. Appetizer arrived at 1:25 and burgers at 1:40. Everything was delicious. I will advise you that trying to make a lettuce wrap of the Texas Burner is messy. Ask for extra napkins. Or eat with a fork and knife. The curb appeal is basic but the retro interior is adorable.

Yelp
The gals working here were very unfriendly, acted like they didn't want to serve me. I will never go here again.

Yelp
Burger was great! The wait was long but it's because they make everything from scratch. So can't complain . Super good

Yelp
I was so disappointed. Gross from the outset. Not a place I'll give a second chance. I get ill just driving by it.

Yelp
I've lived here a year and have heard about this place. I happen to be driving by and decided to stop in. The 1st thing I noticed was how nice everyone is that work here. I ordered double Patti melt with fries. It was delicious! I don't know what rye bread they use but it was also delicious. When I finished I saw a server walking by with an ice cream cone. I feel like that was timed perfectly ‍ because I had to order one. I ended up getting a chocolate ice cream cone. Apparently they make the ice cream. It was also delicious and creamy.

Yelp
So we got there amazing waiter, very kind and is a great waiter. But there was a problem my dad asked for coke they didn't have any. The buns were amazing but were a little bigger than the meat, which the meat was amazing but the bathrooms were only 1 person. The owner came up to me personally and talked to me and he was very nice. I still recommend to come to Abilene Texas to get some great burgers and ice-cream that was amazing at Lucy's Big Burgers!!!

Angelica T.

Yelp
I dont eat here much, but this might be the last time. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. I took a bite and tasted the mold in the chesse . Yuck!!!! They took it back, and no one came to me and apologized. I did order another one with no cheese, but it came out with less meat.. l

Yelp
Disappointed! We have been fans of Lucy's for a long time. We placed an order for takeout for a BLT with NO mayo. My daughter is allergic so she asked for mustard instead. They told her the condiments are on the side. We got home and her BLT is SLATHERED with mayo. When I called to let them know, they asked if we wanted to bring it back. My daughter has to head back to college in 30 minutes, so we can't bring it back. They didn't offer to make it right at all, just said "I'm sorry". This is an allergy and you can't just take mayo off. It's not a difficult request. Very disappointed.

Seleste D.

Yelp
Wow, Phenomenal burgers! You can tell everything is made with fresh ingredients! The poppers were even made fresh, and not the kind that are frozen and fried! The burgers come on delicious brioche buns, and the patties are made fresh and are delicious! Will definitely be back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing burgers! And handmade ice cream! Probably best bleu cheese and bacon burger ever. God bless local family owned businesses. And our server, Cidny was fabulous. Go to Lucy's! Now

Kahlea B.

Yelp
Amazing burgersb! . Finish it off with some homemade peanut butter icecream! It's a go to place for us!

Yelp
We are traveling across Texas for work and we were looking for a mom and pop style burger place, to kick back and enjoy some good food. We searched Yelp and this place looked popular, so we swung by at midday. They were busy but seated us quickly with a huge Texas welcome! Our server was April and she couldn't be friendly. Our drinks were never empty, every condiment was on our table and the food was fast, juicy and delicious. It feels like going to your aunts house for some good honest food and a friendly atmosphere.

Yelp
So we are on a road trip from Allen, TX to Monterey, CA and on the way home we stop in Abilene. I start "yelping" bc I thought I remembered an episode from DayTripper or Texas Bucket List on TV. Well, I come up with Lucy's Big Burger and OMGee am I blown away by this delicious ginormous hamburger and order of chili with sweet potato fries! It's "smack yo momma" good; it's that YumO! The service was excellent (like a Cheers bar bc Abilene is not a big city and there were plenty of regulars) and my "to go" order came up quickly even though it was cooked to order. I had them cut my burger in half, it was that big and sheesh, the chili was just like mom's. This is NOT your Wendy's kind of chili by any means. Lucy's Burgers was so good, I wished I lived in Abilene! Do not drive past Abilene without stopping here; I promise, you will not be disappointed at all.

Yelp
We got the grilled chicken sandwich (with tots!) and a #11. Both were great. The serving sizes here are huge for what you pay! The service is great and our waitress was super sweet. We ended our lunch with the homemade ice cream - peanut butter & York peppermint patty flavors! YUM!

Audrey S.

Yelp
I love Lucy's burgers, always great food and friendly service! And their Chicken Bites are just as tasty!

Bob R.

Yelp
I'm conflicted about this review. My wife and I had the small burgers with tater tots. They were well prepared and tasted great. However, we were turned off by a few things. First the waitress asked if we wanted cheese and we replied sure. Then we wanted to upgrade the french fries to tater tots and she said there would be an uncharge for that. Ok, we could have expected that. What we didn't expect was the added slice of cheese was $1.50 and the tater tots was over $6. So the two small burgers (with cheese), tater tots, the included teas, plus tip came to $34+. And while the homemade bun was tasty, it was too small for the burger and veggies. I ran out of bun long before I ran out of meat and veggies. The restaurant was clean and had nice ambiance to it. So overall, it was expensive for burgers so we will return to great standbys like Heffburger and Braum's the next time we choose a burger for lunch.

Yelp
Anytime I walk into a restaurant and see they are 2nd amendment friendly it makes me happy! The food is always good and service is top notch! If ya want a dang good burger give em a try!

Nadia C.

Yelp
This place makes very good bergers from scratch. They are made with different add ons and very affordable. Service is professional and everything is served in timely manner. The place itself is not very big but everything is clean and looks dissent. Will come back there again.
google avatar

Trish D.

Yelp
Great food. Friendly staff. And the folks at Lucy's love our country and the 2nd Amendment. Highly recommended and well worth the 1000 mile drive to eat here. The green chili burger was delicious.
google avatar

Alejandro E.

Yelp
So far, these are the best burgers I have tried in Abilene since I moved three and a half weeks ago. The meat is juicy, and the simplicity of the burger makes it delicious. They have ice cream too, and I heard it is good (I do not eat ice cream). They are pretty busy most of the time--plan accordingly. I highly recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. What a gem. Was in town for a game and stumbled upon this. Wonderful friendly staff! Amazing fresh burgers. Very chill and relaxed place.

Phil B.

Yelp
Waitresses are wonderful food is great atmosphere is fantastic. We were sat really fast, our order was taken just as quick and our food came out fast and hot. Hamburger steak with fries, BLT with onion rings. If you have a license to carry this is the place for you. I will definitely come here again when in Abilene. Loved everything about Lucy's.
google avatar

Yelp
Great burgers, Great Vibe, Great Crew and a great lunch. The experience lived up to the hype and surpassed it for us. Fresh burgers topped with fresh vegetables, tasty fries, a great bun and served by an engaging crew. The jalepeno ketchup was a new one for me and I dont know if I can ever go back to normal ketchup again.

Yelp
Driving through Abilene, TX I was hyped to hit up some authentic Texas food. Lucy's is known for their burgers so I had to give the all-star and highly recommended sandwich l on the menu. Went with the Texas Burner with Melted Pepper Jack Cheese over Bacon & fresh grilled Jalapenos, topped with Lettuce, Onions, Tomatoes & Mustard served with their sweet Habanero sauce on the side. Ya it's a lot, but tasted so good. Packed with heat and savory flavors, this is the best burger Lucy's has to offer and I can tell you that without having anything else on the menu. My friend went with the Sue Bird - another Lucy's special - and it looked ok, but I would play it safe and just grab a burger. Lucy's feels like authentic Texas at its finest. It's a bit of a dive with classic photos of recording artists and politicians around the restaurant. You'll get southern hospitality treatment as well - nice servers and the food came out incredibly fast. After a long trip on the road, Lucy's was the perfect stop to fuel up. Its burger will have you full for hours and completely satisfied with the taste and quality. Also, don't forget to try their homemade ice cream - it's some of the best you'll ever have!
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
This place has a ton of hype around Abilene, but when we finally tried it, they didn't really deliver. I can't say that anything was necessarily bad, but nothing was down right amazing. There is no shortage of burgers spots in town, so I feel like you need to really "bring it" and offer something others don't. This was just a plain Jane burger to me. No special sauces, no cool toppings offered. The prices were fair and the service was good. If you're looking for a good burger without the bells and whistles, you won't be disappointed; but I wasn't super impressed.
google avatar

Leatha G.

Yelp
Had the hamburger steak with sweet po fries. Best beef I have had in a long time! Special treat for this reactive hypoglycemic who rarely eats out, ever.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Grew up with owner and sons, daughters so I expected better. Fries small, undercooked and soggy. Been around a while so I know a 1/4 pounder when I see and eat one. Looked like a Jr burger from MCI D's.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a midweek lunch and they were still pretty busy at 1:30pm (a good sign). Ordered the Hawaiian burger with the Habenero sauce on the side along with the sweet potato fries. The fries were thin cut, hot and crispy = above average. The burger was larger than typical places, and a good value for the price. The bun and the bacon were the shining stars. I added lettuce and tomato at no cost. The beef patty was large and moist, but didn't have much flavor though. Glad I got the habenero sauce on the side- it had kick. The peanut butter ice cream was rich and creamy and was a great way to finish this caloric binge. Service was outstanding. Pepsi only products was a minus for me. Interesting handwashing "sink" in the mens room... Lucy's is a solid 4 stars in my book.
google avatar

Martin K.

Yelp
Excellent little burger place, The burgers were huge, juicy and well seasoned. Everything a burger should be. The chili cheese tots were also amazing. The only negative was that despite a mask mandate by the governor there was no mask in sight. If you're ok taking that risk, the food will not disappoint.
google avatar

Ali G.

Yelp
The is a quintessential small town diner. Laid back country folk, ya know? My son and I were seated fairly quickly on a Saturday evening. He ordered the mac and cheese appetizer. Imagine my surprise when the waitress comes back with a bowl of easy mac. For $6. Six dollars for microwaved Kraft macaroni and cheese. I ordered the blue cheese burger. The bun was soft, buttery goodness. It was delicious, and the fries were great, too. I got a side of jalapeno ketchup and it did not disappoint! My son ordered a kids meal - cheeseburger, cheese fries, and milk to drink. More not-so-fun surprises. The fake cheese they put on the fries was an extra $3.50 (!) and because he got milk instead of soda, that was another $2.50. None of this was communicated when we ordered. I expected to pay extra for the cheese, but $3.50? For manufactured cheese? Come on. I could have ordered him an adult meal (with dessert, probably) for what I was charged for his "kids meal". What's good here is great. What isn't, really isn't.

Yelp
I'd heard others mention Lucy's, so when I was in Abilene, I decided to give it a try. Having gone to law school in Lubbock, I know that West Texas usually turns out a good burger. And Lucy's is no exception to the rule. Unlike a lot of burger places, Lucy's is a full service restaurant. Our server was excellent. She managed to handle all of our special orders and requests without missing a beat. My Hawaiian burger with tater tots was excellent. I am glad I ordered the habanero sauce on the side though. I'm a spicy food fan and I found the habanero sauce to be hotter than heck. It starts out sweet and quickly turns into a strong burning heat. The burger itself was cooked to perfection and the large burger went great with the bacon, grilled pineapple, and the sweet bun. All in all, a great local option that serves a great burger without pretense. This is the kind of place that would be all over the Food Network if they had some sort of gimmick. No gimmicks here -- just another great West Texas burger option.
google avatar

Carol B.

Yelp
They have always had some of the best burgers in town and also have homemade ice cream.

Yelp
We went through Abilene while on vacation and based on reviews decided to stop at Lucy's Big Burgers. Best decision ever! Sometimes mom and pop type places can be a bust even with high praises. Lucy's did not disappoint! We were quickly greeted by a hostess who was super friendly. Once seated, we were quickly greeted by our server who interacted with our three kids the entire time which always is a plus for us! The food was amazing! Our table ordered three different burgers, chicken bites and a kids corn dog all served with awesome hand cut fries. Everyone thought it tasted amazing. My son even asked us if we could visit Lucy's again the next day. The sweet tea was served in this huge mason jars- which our family loves sweet tea so that was a plus for us :) The homemade ice cream was great too! We loved the banana pudding and peanut butter flavors. Needless to say everything was 5 stars food, service and cleanliness. I would highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Randy R.

Yelp
Great Burgers and fries, saw them on TicTok and the food didn't disappoint! They support freedom and the 2nd amendment. Hand cut fries were nice and crispy, if you like it hot get the "Lucy's sauce " or the jalapeño ketchup.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, pistol-packing waitresses, great food....what more could you ask for? Try the Texan burger and the homemade peanut butter ice cream. Wowzers!

Waymore J.

Yelp
I like Lucy's. The food is very good and the servers try hard to keep things hopping. I think most of what they serve is homemade. I cant give them more than 2 stars though. Its really frustrating that they're only open during lunch because the restaurant is VERY popular. People know they're only open at lunch so its FREAKING packed. It really takes away from the laid back environment youd expect from a little restaurant. Its hard to enjoy eating here when its an absolute ZOO.. loud and obnoxious. I love the food, but I can't get near the place. I dont have the time on a lunch break for all that and I'm sure many others don't either. I really think adding more hours would alleviate the chaos. I only pick food up to go now which brings me to the SINGLE, TINY, AND HALF EMPTY ranch cup I was allotted and asked to PAY for if I wanted more with my poppers. There are a dozen or more poppers. Clearly, that is NOT enough for whats served plus I was charged for more!! This isnt the first time either. Poppers should come with 2 ranch minnimum for the portion served. Customers don't want to be unnecessarily nickel and dimed especially with the price tag of those poppers!

Yelp
Great home style burgers on a homemade bun!!! The owners are on the premises most all the time, and checks on each table! And their homemade ice cream is a must to finish off your meal! Great place!
google avatar

Tracy M.

Yelp
Love this place! Good food. Nice staff. BEST home-made ice cream in town! My fav, jumbo chili cheese dog!
google avatar

Lundy M.

Yelp
Not worth the money. I got a chili cheeseburger and my wife got a patty melt. They weren't bad - just average. The fries were the biggest disappointment. I love potatoes, especially French fries. They hand cut their fries, so I had high hopes they would be great. Nope. Just average. Really, no flavor. To make matters worse, they don't use the best ketchup (Heinz). Two burgers, basically, with fries and two Diet Pepsis came to $36 after tax and tip. Definitely better burger options in Abilene - better burgers and better prices.
google avatar

Brittany B.

Yelp
Well seasoned burgers, large portions, nothing too fancy. The pickle fries were pitch perfect and the homemade ice cream looked delicious, but was too full to try. The waitstaff were very friendly, timely, and helpful for a first-timer like myself. Great spot for a solid burger!
google avatar

Latisha F.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! Great service even during the lunch rush. The hamburgers and fries are the best around. Ordered the bleu cheese with lettuce and it was perfect. Would highly recommend and will be back for sure. Relaxed country atmosphere. So enjoyable. Also don't forget to try the homemade ice cream cream.

Yelp
FANTASTIC! ****Note: Make sure you get their special ketchup jalapeño sauce. It is excellent... It is more like a barbecue sauce with a touch of heat. Not too much heat with some sweetness... Just right... I never eat ketchup, but I really liked this!! Eat the jalapeño poppers, onion rings and fries first. Don't let them cool off. Eat them first! You've been told.. (Do it!) To start off we had the Jalapeño bites and they were incredible. I don't know how they do it, but they aren't as filling but have more flavor than what we have ever experienced with other restaurants. The dressing had a bit of a bite to it which went very well with the bacon. This is a must have. They are kind of tiny but excellent. These are NOT ordinary Jalapeño bites, they are tasty but not as filling. If you like a bunch of cheese in your bites, then this is not for you. They have a lot of bacon, some jalapeño and a bit of cheese on a toothpick. Unique to say the least.. Then we had a Lucy burger with cheese. We asked for it medium rare and it came out about medium. However, it was a REALLY good medium. It also reheated very well (yes, we asked for to go boxes). We got it with onion rings, and these are REALLY good onion rings. The batter is different. I can't put my finger on it, but I really liked it. The bun is top notch, but it is so good overall, it is hard to explain how the bun is unique. We also had the patty melt! We asked for it medium rare and got it medium. Anyway it was still great. The rye bread was over the top!!! Excellent. I've never tasted rye bread that great!! The rye was "almost" overwhelming but a great experience. We got the fries with the patty melt and the only thing the fries needed was a bit a extra salt. Now to the dessert! We had chocolate and vanilla ice cream. The chocolate was incredibly good. The vanilla was OK. I definitely recommend the chocolate. They mix various different chocolates into their chocolate home made ice cream. This is very good, EXCELLENT, just do it! Get the chocolate.. (I don't do peanut butter, but they say it is good, I just don't do peanut butter, so, YMMV). IT IS WORTH GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE!!!!! Do it!!! You know you want to!!!! LOL

Yelp
The sweet potato fries are my favorite. Burgers are good too. Always get dessert here!(homeade ice cream) they switch flavors monthly.

Greg S.

Yelp
good food, friendly service. We enjoy going each time. we also enjoy looking at all of the photos!

Yelp
Wow - just WOW. What a great place. Burger is so awesome. French fries rock. Don't forget about homemade ice cream either. Owner came by and checked to see how we were doing and if everything was good. You have to stop and support this local place. I've added a few pictures of some of the signs/flags Only thing I can say bad - Pepsi account. Need Coca-Cola and they will be the full package
