‘Little Italy’ Is the Worst Food Movie of 2018 | Eater

"A local bar where an ostracized character adopts an exaggerated Italian persona and finds community, yet the place is depicted as a seedy 'dive' and populated with cartoonish Italian-costume tropes (A-shirt, gold chains, slicked-back hair). Rather than offering thoughtful commentary about identity or acceptance, the film uses the bar as a backdrop for lazy jokes and character disparagement from others who insist it isn’t authentically Italian." - Esra Erol

This little local bar is awesome. TV's in every booth and fun local characters. They make their own pizzas and have bar staff that takes great care of you. The owners, Tammy & Keary, were there and they are just down to earth people. A must stop watering hole.

My mom and I stopped in to see if it was still owned by the same family who owned when my mom was a child visiting Calumet. We had the good fortune of running into Tammy the owner. She indeed knew the original owners and spent an hour talking with my mom about the bar and the background and showing us around. We had so much fun learning some of the history of the bar. We had a few drinks and soaked in the inviting, fun atmosphere. We had 2 beers and a glass of wine and it cost $10. Amazing. The service was great and we highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area. We even had a blast driving Tammy home since it was on our way to our VRBO! Thanks Tammy, we had a blast!

When the bartender goes out to her car to get vernors for your drink... 5 stars! I wish I could give them more than 5!!

We were looking forward to spending time here since 2 years ago when we were vacationing here we had enjoyed our visits here. My husband and I stopped in for a drink on our first day in town and we sat at the bar and it felt like the bartender who was sitting at the bar was irritated that she had to get up and take our order. We decided to come on Sunday to watch the football game and we got there at 12:15, 15 minutes after they opened, and there were only 4 other customers in the bar but she had a beer bottle by every stool at the bar and would not let us sit at the bar. These people didn't start trickling in till maybe 15 minutes before the game started. There was a TV at the booth we sat at but it was delayed from the big screen which had the sound turned up. We felt very unwelcome. I understand loyalty to regular customers, but I would not recommend this location to visitors. We left and went to the UP Bar a couple blocks away and felt very welcomed and had a great time.

Pretty good pizza, way above average. And a surprisingly good beer list. Up north typically don't have this good of a selection.

They had an anniversary party going on, 30 bands over 3 days. However, the bands leaned heavily to hardcore metal. Now, I'm not a fan of the genre, so to be fair, they delivered on the entertainment if you enjoy that type of thing. I also had previously met one of the owners, and she was friendly and very nice. During the second days early shows, I went in again. The same owner was there, but had what seemed to be a bartender who was training. Now, I'm not local, but I'm tall, and tend to stand out in a crowd. In side was not crowded though. I stood at the bar for a full 10 minutes, money in hand, paying friendly and patient attention to both the owner, and bartender in training. No one greeted me, acknowledged me standing there money in hand, and even served other people who came in after me....please people, teach and learn to greet everyone when they come in, even if just to say, I'll be with you when I can....after watching them serve 4 people who came in after me, without ever acknowledging me, I left and got a drink elsewhere.

Awesome pizza! Great place for Hamm’s on tap! The basement is really cool too!

Limited experience, only came to watch a football game since they have more and larger TVs than my usual watering hole. They have KBC Widowmaker on tap, so extra points there. TV viewing was good, even had small screen TVs in individual booths! I cannot speak to the food, but the wait staff was friendly and responsive. It was a casual older crowd, not boisterous but fun. I returned the following week to watch another FB game and experienced a surprisingly small crowd, which was fine by me. Once again, everyone was friendly, wait staff mindful, so all was good. I will probably return as I live in the area.

Yelp
This is an interesting bar that shows off the wealth in the area back in the heyday of the Copper Country. It has a beautiful tile floor and a wonderful wooden bar, dating back to early 20th-century (as near as I can figure). We had a great conversation with our bartender who shared some of the history of the bar. We mentioned that we were looking for a place to eat in the area and he listed some places and added "oh, and we have pizza and nachos as well" He said the pizza was pretty good - usually I'm like "yeah, he's trying to sell us a Tombstone" but was pleasantly surprised. This was a pizza where the toppings were so plentiful they were falling off. It was cooked well and served hot and was obviously made on site. For the three of us, the one pizza sufficed. If you're looking for a beautiful old bar with friendly service in the Calumet area (and, really who isn't?), Luigi's is one of the first places I recommend.

Yelp
If you are looking for a historic place to sit down and have a quiet beer, this is the place. It has a bar made by Brunswick (the same one that makes bowling alleys) in the early 1900's. There is a tradition of throwing coins over the top of the bar making them go behind the mirror. It has one of the most beautiful tile floors. It is definitely a must see....
