One of the best pizza places I've visited! Couldn't decide on just one thing so I had to get take out! The pepperoni-sausage pizza was perfect! The New York Roll Stromboli and the Chicken Stromboli take out were oh do delicious! Absolute hidden gem for the locals in Louisville!!! Will definitely return and try out the other strombolis and their desserts next round!

Google
Antipasto salad was good. The cheese pizza slice and a pepperoni pizza slice was awful. It was extremely dry. Hardly any sauce and almost no cheese, and it didn’t even taste good. We were in a hurry and the whole pizza looked just like our slices. They weren’t super friendly, or welcoming. I had to look around for a menu to see what they had. Such a disappointment!

I recently visited Luigi's Pizzeria with my family, and it was a delightful experience. The location couldn't be more convenient, right across from the science museum. The pizza was delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors and a crispy crust. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be returning for more tasty pizza at Luigi's! Luigi's Pizzeria went above and beyond to accommodate our request for a chicken pizza, even though it wasn't on their regular menu. The fact that they were willing to customize our order speaks to their commitment to customer satisfaction. The chicken pizza turned out to be a scrumptious addition to our meal, and we greatly appreciated their flexibility.

Pizza was so good and fresh and very crispy I would be definitely coming back!!

Google
Service staff seemed unsure why they were there. One of them finally took my order, and I got what is easily the second-worst sandwich I've ever had in my life. Rock hard bread, chicken that had both the taste and texture of plastic, old, burned-up sauce, and a puny amount of cheese that was literally the only flavor to the entire thing. Maybe their pizza is amazing, but I've never stepped foot in there again, and I work on the block. No way. Avoid.

We were looking for something to eat close to the History Museum and I'm so glad we walked into Luigi's. We got two calzones and shared both of them. One had chicken and spinach and it was ok but the one with sausage, peppers, etc. was amazing! Dipping it in the delicious marinara sauce made it perfect. If I lived closer I would eat there often. Then we tried the Tiramisu and it was everything I expected. Delicious! And the employees were kind and helpful.

I had always heard good things about Luigi’s so I decided to give it a try. They were hopping when I got there. They are right next to H&B and across from the Science Museum, so they get a lot of tourist. I tried their Meat Lasagna and a coke. Service was great and friendly, but it all ended there. The meat lasagna had no meat. The sauce tasted like it came fresh out of the can with no spices and the garlic bread was cold and hard. This is not Italiano cuisine. I paid sixteen fifty plus 20% tip up front and left hungry. Downtown food is generally pricy, but this place is not worth it. Go elsewhere. Downtown has many other places to dine at or around the same price point.

Google
Well nice place and the smell drove me in but wasn’t terribly impressed. They only want to sell a handful of items that are sitting under a heat lamp so fresh is out of the question, which is the best way to eat almost anything baked especially pizza or calzones. I wanted a Stromboli but it had mushrooms and asked for one without and was told what was already cooked is what they have. She suggested another item that didn’t have mushrooms which was nice but wasn’t what I wanted. Then they reheat it in the microwave because even they know it’s not hot enough. But what they fail to care about is it turns bread to rubber. Wasn’t very pleasant to eat even if it tasted like it had potential. An average rating is generous in my opinion. Enjoy!

Yelp
Fast, hot, authentic Italian food at a reasonable price. Stopped in after touring the Louisville Slugger Museum and was pleasantly surprised. Everything we tried (pizza, calzone, pasta) was excellent.

Yelp
Recommended for its proximity to the Louisville Slugger Museum and its quickness., as we had a bourbon tour an hour later. *dessert section ( cannolis, etc.), didn't partake *premade pastas, lasagnas, pizzas, calzones and strombolis, order at counter *asked the counter guy if what we ordered was a Marguerite slice -"something like that!" -- we should have asked further--it had arugula, not basil-- I like arugula on pizza but that is NOT Marguerite *thicker crust *pizza bland *overpriced: $37.32 for 4 slices, one iced tea and one Coke zero-- could could have had a sitdown meal for that ...and enjoyed it *they close at 3 PM

Yelp
Very authentic Italian looking restaurant. The service is almost cafeteria style with many salads, Italian dishes and slices to choose from as you go through the line. At the end you pick a slice or two and they throw it in the oven for a few minutes and then you check out. Definitely a family run operation with good service. Pizza was New York style, although I didn't love the crust. 6.6 on my version of the Portnoy scale.

Yelp
With my stomach grumbling I knew it was time to take in some food. I had walked all around the area to see what was available and ended up back here. I figured Italian food wouldn't be too bad. I had never been here before, let alone been to the area before. When I walked in it was after the lunch time rush, which I thought would translate into not being pushed through the area. However, I was being pushed even though it was obvious I was looking over the menu. By the way, you have to go inside to see the menu, which this would have been avoided if there was a menu outside I could have looked at beforehand. After looking over their menu I assumed that meant everything listed would be available to purchase. That is not the case, and if that is not the case, you shouldn't advertise the way you did. To note, this is like the trifold menu you would get as junk mail in your mailbox. First attempt at ordering I was told they didn't have the item. Second attempt at ordering I was told they didn't have it. Each time I ordered and found out they didn't have it, I went back to the menu. And each time they would point to what they had as if I knew exactly what they cooked that day. How about you tell me what is in each and every pot down there, or put a menu behind you on the wall that would let your customers know what is available. In the end of the ordering process I ended up getting meat manicotti. Not what I wanted, not what I was craving, not seen on the menu (I think). I was just so defeated at that point that I would have taken a loaf of garlic bread and called it my lunch (who wouldn't, honestly). Customer service, as you can see, was not their strong suit on this day. The food, even though it was not what I wanted, was decent. Although I wished I would have gotten more than three manicotti. It was just the manicotti and two small slices of garlic bread. Definitely not a lunch, more like a snack. I definitely had to supplement this meal later on as it did not carry me over to my next meal. But the taste was on point. The mixture of meat they used in the manicotti was seasoned perfectly. The sauce was one of the best sauces I have had in a while. And of course the grated cheese on top will always be perfection. But, again, remember I didn't even want this meal as everything I attempted to order was not available.

Yelp
I had a slice of pepperoni pizza today and it was tasteless and hardly had any cheese or sauce on it. It was like eating cardboard. I have had better frozen pizzas than this. Waste of money.

Laura R.

Yelp
They did not offer their full service menu and only had pizza available. Also, they only took cash as machine for credit cards was down. Not sure why they do not offer what is on their menu but pizza also wasn't great. Would go somewhere else...

Yelp
Just had lunch there today. It's on Main Street and near a lot of local attractions. When we arrived it was very crowded. A good amount of seating and it's brightly lit. The ordering process is a bit unorganized. People just walked up to the counter and then when an employee was available they would help the next person. There weren't really lines and if you wanted pizza or a calzone you had to wait in another line. After a few minute wait I was asked to order and then told to move over to the other line. I finally ordered the spinach and cheese calzone, all the items I observed were pre-made and then just reheated in the oven. One reason for the low rating. Only one employee was wearing gloves. Everyone was touching the food bare handed and then handling money and credit cards. Back to the calzone. After I ordered they popped in the oven and told me it would be a few minutes. Then I was rung up for $10.45 and asked if I wanted a drink. I asked for a water cup and was told I could either buy water or a soft drink. I politely refused and then the owner/employee tried to push one on me. The calzone and sauce were nice and hot, but I was disappointed in the small size of it for the price. Also, I found it to be very bland. I usually never add salt, but did today just to give it some flavor. The dough had no flavor either and the ends of the calzone were only dough and no filling. Pricing is outrageous for the amount of food and quality of food.

Yelp
Do not go here! They had no pasta, were rude, charged extra for water and condiments. There was not a clean table in the whole place so we had to clean our own. The bathrooms were not clean either.

Yelp
We just visited the Louisville Slugger museum and were looking for a spot for a quick lunch and Yelp recommended us to stop by Luigi's Pizzeria. We were with our old folks, so it was about a 1 block stroll from the museum. The restaurant sold pizza by the slice and are prepared in the New York style. They had around a half a dozen different toppings and I had Mushroom. We also ordered the Pepperoni, Sausage and Veggie slices, they were all delicious. It was a nice place to visit after the museum and tasty pizza.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent slices and authentic! A must try for pizza options, and salads looked good as well. Bad part is odd hours. Closed by 5pm daily?!

Yelp
As an avid Pizza Lover it really pains me to leave a 2 star review. Luigi's has been on my radar for the longest time after going to Summer Beer Fest at Frazier Museum last year. At the time they were closed by the time my friend and I got there. This time we made sure to go when they were open. Located on what I call Museum row, this establishment stays pretty busy with those places around. My friend and I came here to get a bite and tend to other activities before this years Summer Beer Fest at Frazier. We go in there where some people seated but nobody at the counter ahead of us to order. We do browse what they have out and my friend inquired about the Pasta to which we're told no Pastas on Saturday, ok weird. There were other things that they didn't have but, they had pizza slices and they're so called New York rolls, desserts, etc. I got 2 Pepperoni slices and my friend got 2 Sausage and Pepperoni slices. As we both take a bite, can't say terrible or great but just edible. Pizza had very little flavor and was greasy and a little to crispy. Had we not been hungry we wouldn't have ate our slices. I however didn't feel full and went back to the counter to order a chocolate cake slice. Lady behind the counter proceeds to grab what I hope was with the more moist frosting on the cake but, grabs one that is drier and I didn't want to be an inconvenience and say that wasn't the right one despite pointing out what I wanted. I'm not sure what type of cake it was but it had a cherry flavor and had one cherry imbedded in the cake. I will say the cake was good but not great. Another kicker was that it seemed the air wasn't working or someone didn't turn it on, I asked my friend is it just me or is it hot in here. It was agreed it wasn't just me. Sadly this was a disappointing visit from little to no flavor pizza, to getting the wrong dessert, to being hot inside. I don't fault staff this visit, they were pleasant with us and despite not getting the correct dessert I still give the staff 3-4 stars. Can't say we'll be back here again. I've read mixed reviews about this place and I won't deter anyone from here, I'm basing this off personal experience.

Yelp
This two stars reviews comes after my first try. I noticed a poll on the best pizza in town and saw this pizza place though I never heard of it before. I tried two different slices from the first pies since they just opened not half an hour before my visit. I paid approx $10.85. I wouldn't recommend the pizza. The crust reminded me of college cafeteria. So rough and hard. There wasn't a need to reheat slices that just came out. Light amount of cheese and pepperoni that didn't sit well. I tried to eat the cheese, tomato sauce, pepperoni without the dough and it was decent. They also had various calzone on display meat, cheese and vegetarian and I would like to give them a try in my second visit. Quick service, not too inviting or marketable. The ambience is fit for dine in; or quick grab and go. As always bon appetit

Yelp
This place is over priced. The food is pre made so you don't know how long the food was sitting out. I asked for free water and they told me I had to buy water. I asked for a military discount and the girl told me only the owner could give it which doesn't make sense since the manager was there. The food was not worth the money.

Yelp
Luigi's is a good pizzeria downtown Louisville. There are a number of booths and tables inside. Plenty of seating: booths and tables. Continuous stream of people coming through. You can get pizza by the slice, and Stromboli too. Several types of pasta dishes ready to go. I was happy that it took a few minutes for us to get our pizza because I came out very hot and fresh. Seemed like it was a father-daughter combo working the joint. Glad to support that stuff.

Jackson W.

Yelp
great pizza, but they weren't wearing hair nets, great service, the workers are great, and it's a great environment, you can sit inside or outside. overall it's really great.
google avatar

Ray G.

Yelp
It has been several years since I've been here and the decline in the quality of their pizza is obvious. Although there is a freshness to the crust, it is way too bread-like for NY style. One cannot screw up a slice of cheese, right? Well, they did. There is not enough sauce or cheese. Also, it was after 2pm, not busy and we couldn't find a clean table. This was my last visit.
google avatar

Mandy R.

Yelp
The service is always pleasant and they have a nice variety of New York style pizzas, pastas, and salads. It is simply that nothing is good. The crust, the sauce, the cheese are all below average in quality and taste. It's a great place for tourists to stop in amongst the museums and grab a quick bite, but it is not great food. In the summer or on hot days, it's very warm in there. The AC seems like it is never on.

Yelp
Lunch was needed and I was not feeling like sticking to my keto diet. Also, Luigi's was open and most of the other restaurants were not. So that's always a plus. The smell of garlic and cooking pizza was strong as I walked in. Half of the tables were marked off as closed, but some of the two top tables were split by a large plexiglass barrier. Very nice use of the space! Though they did have salt and pepper and red pepper flakes on the table. (I added red pepper to my meal but holding it with a napkin.) I chose a stromboli looking thing and a salad. The former was inexpensive, the latter was not but both were delicious and the marinara sauce was great. Two hours later, the carbs hit and I needed a nap. Great service, friendly, and they're doing pretty good to help with social distancing. [Review 13531 overall, 850 of 2020.]

Yelp
I feel there is untapped potential here! The food was decent, freshly made, displayed and reheated as ordered. The aroma of the restaurant is A plus. This sauce must be terrific! Customers appeared happy. We had a slice of pizza and a calzone. In terms of drinks, we had an option of bottled water or sugary drinks- which we don't drink. No non bottled water was available- not even from the fountain. I mean strictly not available. I feel there should be an option to hydrate when eating at a restaurant and I need to reduce from 5 to 4 for this lack of consideration on your customer's experience. Otherwise, keep up the good work!

Ashley B.

Yelp
Very quaint restaurant located close to the Louisville Slugger Factory. The food was very good and descent portion size for the cost. Tables were clean and all the employees were very nice. The weather was nice outside and they had their doors open and so there were a few flies while trying to eat.

Thomas H.

Yelp
Does not provide tap water for customers while also banning outside drinks. They require you to buy bottled water there.

Bryce T.

Yelp
Some of the best by-slice pizza in Louisville. Service is typically prompt, but they do not usually make to order. What they have is what they have.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
A little confusing at first because you order at the counter and there are separate places for pizza va pasta. Pretty pricey, but the food was great. Kids loved the pizza. Manicotti and other pastas were delicious.
google avatar

Sean K.

Yelp
After spending a few hours at the Kentucky Science Center we jumped across the street here for a slice. I had stomboli, my son had pepperoni pizza, and the wife had supreme pizza. Everything was fairly average but managed to fill my son and I belly. My wife did not even eat half of hers and to be honest, it had a bad effect on her as she had several emergencies later that afternoon. This messed up our evening plans as she wanted to stay in the hotel and close to the facilities.
google avatar

Alex T.

Yelp
Surprised by the low reviews. We are here on vacation and stopped by after the Slugger Museum next door. I had an amazing meatball sandwich on fresh bread all bars in the oven with fresh mozzarella and spices. I would highly recommend and I would stop here again if I'm ever in the area. My wife had a fresh tomato/ basil pizza slice and loved it also.
google avatar

Ophelia B.

Yelp
We went into Luigi's to get a drink while we waited for the Fraizer Museum. You had to walk a long meandering hallway to get to the bathroom. My hubcap was not so delighted about his calzone due to all the green peppers. I liked the art inside and the sitting booth area.

Betsy R.

Yelp
Great pizza! Authentic. Whenever I am downtown on Main Street for lunch. I stop here because of the great pizzas &calzones Order at counter.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
The restaurant is open early for business which was great since the museums weren't open yet at 10am. I had the Stromboli which I would have enjoyed it more if it had more of the delicious meats and less green peppers. It was still delicious. The staff attempted to be friendly, but felt like I had walked in at a bad time, either the two gentlemen were going through an argument or they had just thought I was weird for coming in to eat at 10am. Either way, there was very little conversation. Business looked clean, few flies flying around where they prepped food, but it'll happen. Clean restrooms down the hallway.
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
Luigi's was something fast that we knew we could order in somewhat of a hurry. It's kind of cafeteria style where you walk down the line and order what you want. Other than the pasta things are made fresh and the two guys working behind the counter speak Italian to each other, so it's pretty authentic. The meatball sandwich was very good and I would order it again. The price was affordable as well but I would caution customers to make sure they avoid being up charged at checkout.
google avatar

Rob D.

Yelp
This place is pretty awful. The pizza is not good. Reasons why: Slices have been sitting and are reheated when ordered. Crust has literally no chew at all. It's like thin bread. Very little sauce, very little cheese, no flavor. I've seen better looking pizza at gas stations. Also the guy behind the counter is pretty terse and doesn't seem to give a damn about much. Their sign says authentic. Don't be fooled.
google avatar

Harold A.

Yelp
The pizza was so so. Not very flavorful at all. I'd stick to the pasta if your going to eat here.
google avatar

Andy P.

Yelp
If you're really hungry and you've walked to the end of Main Street and you don't feel like turning around to find a restaurant then stop in at Luigi's. Oh they don't have anything other than bottled water, so if you really need water and don't want to spend a couple bucks on water keep moving. At first bite the pizza was good but to tell you the truth the crust was overdone, kind of like a cracker. The plain, mushroom sausage and the deluxe combination tasted good but would avoid the tomato/spinach, which all fell off my slice when I picked it up. What remained was a soggy mess. The calzones looked good but the salads did not look fresh, though I'm only speculating since I only had the pizza. Which brings us to the service. There were 3 or 4 people behind the counter, none greeted us as we stepped up to the counter. My friends had been there a few times so they knew the drill. I'm sure he said more than what I heard, but all I heard was, "what?" It appeared that he was the owner and yes he is very rude as many of the other reviews described him. Pretty good pizza, no customer service.
google avatar

Courtney P.

Yelp
Tasty. Individual slices available. Calzones were yummy. Friendly staff. Great lunch spot.

Rena S.

Yelp
Bad attitude from the lady at the counter. She wouldn't even verbally respond. She'd only nod her head at us. And her hair was all over the place. I chose not to eat even though I was famished. If it's that lazy an unpleasant, how much do they put into cleanliness? I wouldn't take a chance. Plenty of over things open on Main St at the same time.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim and so glad we did! Everything was delicious and such a nice setting! Thank you!
google avatar

Jonathan B.

Yelp
Luigi's has been around for years in downtown Louisville and has been serving up some of the best Italian dishes. I usually go with their large pie with sausage. It's the only place I order sausage pizza and crumbled sausage a top of a thin crust, simple tomato sauce and a perfect layer of cheese. This place is great for lunch and can get pretty crowded around noon.

Charlotte M.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The pizza is fresh, the crust has crunch and the sauce is delicious. The owner was on hand and super friendly. Would definitely recommend. Wish they had one where I lived.
google avatar

Zuri J.

Yelp
So far I have tried the pizza, pasta, and a meatball sandwich and everything has been delicious! The service at lunch

Kim C.

Yelp
Sauce is amazing. I have never eaten anything that wasn't delicious. I have eaten here many times over the course of several years; Actually decades and everything has been wonderful.... Probably because the owner is Italian.

Shawn H.

Yelp
This place is for real!!! Great pasta & the Pizza is delicious. Affordable and clean.

Gary K.

Yelp
Had lunch today after the Science Center and was pleasantly surprised. The food was outstanding. Had the New Your calzone, Italian sausage, pepperoni and mozzarella and had plentiful fillings. Homemade Italian marinara to dip and it was awesome. Owner was native Italian and so was the food. My grandson had cheese pizza and it was excellent. Order at counter and pick it up when ready. Had a number of pasta dishes on steam table as well as salads. Great place and we will definitely return!! Also price was good too!! The restaurant was very clean too!

Christopher R.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I happened on Luigi's when the restaurant we planned to go to turned out to be closed with new COVID hours. Within seconds of our first bite however we realized this was a happy mistake and I am not exaggerating in saying the best pasta I have ever eaten in my life may have been off a styrofoam plate with a plastic fork. The pizza and salad we had were also very good but the pasta is clearly the star of the show at Luigis. If you are still hungry after a heaping plate of pasta or pizza the chocolate cake was amazingly good and the tiramisu was also excellent. Can't wait to stop here again next time I am in Louisville!
google avatar

Andy S.

Yelp
Restaurant appears to be utilizing proper COVID precautions. I have eaten here in the past and was disappointed then and disappointed once again. The chicken was dry and the lettuce and thick sliced tomato was not visually appetizing.

Jill G.

Yelp
Great for a quick meal and the pizza (by the slice) was absolutely delicious. The calzones were satisfying but were not enjoyed as much as the pizza. The crust is SO good! The people we're nice, too.

Melissa K.

Yelp
Took our family there after Louisville slugger tour. If you like mall pizza and calzones this is for you however Service was aweful and we felt like an inconvenience to them. I wanted an antipasta salad on the menu and I was told not today they weren't making more salads even though it was mid afternoon. They brought one pizza and never told us about the other one which I had to go ask about 15 mins later. Finally after about 45 min it showed up. Luigi the owner was sitting next to us chatting with a table off and on and he never even acknowledged us or asked how our group of 11 was. Pretty disappointed with the place.

John R.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, fantastic food at a reasonable price. Had a salad, slice of cheese pizza, and their pasta of the day; a spicy chicken pasta. Very good

Yelp
I've never ever told a business owner that I was going to write them a (good or bad) review. But today I was so appalled that steam was coming out of my ears. Seriously - look at my other reviews; I don't write negative reviews lightly. I am acutely aware of how damaging bad reviews can be for small, local business owners. My experience today was so upsetting that I had to write about it immediately. My husband brought our 10 month old daughter downtown for lunch as she wasn't feeling well and didn't go to daycare today. My office is around the corner, so I've been to Luigi's a couple of times. The first time I had an excellent slice of pizza. Then second time I had a terrible slice of the same pizza. And today I had a piece of cardboard with some old sausage and canned mushrooms and a couple of pinches of cheese. That's not what is causing me to write this review though. We purchased two sodas from the fountain for me and my husband, and when I asked for a cup of water for my daughter the employee said they don't have water. Only bottled. I didn't want to purchase a whole bottle of water for my 10 month old daughter to take two sips, so I just asked if they would mind giving me a small cup of tap water from the sink. The employee said "oh, let me go ask the owner". Uhhhhhhh.....really? Is it that hard to give me a little water? The owner comes up then and says "no, we don't have water". I told him it was just for my 10 month old and his answer remained no. I was livid. Are you that hurting that you cannot spare a cup of water? Needless to say, I won't be back. And I'll never recommend this place. And I'll say, pass this by - don't even bother.

David W.

Yelp
Great find on downtown area. Aren't a lot of quality pizza places, the crust is practically perfect.
