"Luke’s Lobster is a good quick option for any visitor craving a lobster roll. Or any kind of lobster, for that matter (think mac and cheese, bisque, and dip). There are shrimp and crab rolls as well, plus combo options with sides and drinks. This is part of a rapidly growing New York-based chain with Maine roots (and a new, full-service flagship location in Maine). [Counter service]" - Dana Hatic

A fun way to enjoy lobster rolls - Luke's Lobster was recommended by many people on my trip to Boston so I wanted to stop by. I was curious to try the crab rolls, which I loved MORE than the lobster roll! Ordered the lobster & crab roll Luke's way (mayo, butter, lemon) and it was perfectly seasoned - not too heavy on the flavors. The buttered roll was sooo delicious and make sure to dip in the clam chowder. Clam chowder is classic, with more potatoes than clams...but def order as part of the combo set. It's a fast casual type restaurant - you order and pick your chips/drink, servers were friendly and restaurant is chill and open! Lots of solo diners hopping in for lunch, and I enjoyed the solo experience!

It was a really interesting little place for some fresh seafood. We ordered the combo with shrimp, lobster meat, and crab meat and soup as well. The service, location, and atmosphere were great no doubt. I do think it was a little expensive though.

Google
This was a good lobster roll but not the most flavorful or best one I've ever had. The place was underwhelming, but that's okay. It's more of a lobster shack kind of a feel. I'd still recommend trying it out because I know everyone's tastes are different, and it was still a good sandwich.

I was planning to eat at Lobstah on a Roll, but the prices were similar, so I decided to try Luke’s. I got the warm regular 4oz lobster roll combo with a large clam chower and blueberry soda. The chowder and soda were great, but the prices are steep!! $26 for a 4oz lobster roll is fairly standard, but I’m not sure the taste lived up to the price. That might just be the case for lobster rolls for me now though. Is it really worth it?

When in Boston, naturally I had to try a lobster roll! I ordered the honey lobster roll per the recommendation of the cashier and it was very good. There was an amazing amount of lobster piled on! As a side, I ordered clam chowder and that was extra comforting on a rainy day. The restaurant is fast casual. Service was good.

Would you pay $38 for a minuscule lobster roll flight that has only 460 calories?! Well I did so you don’t have to! Save your money and your appetite. Our thought was, “when in Rome”. Well we did it so we don’t have to ever do it again. Done and dusted and I don’t see what the hype is. Also they don’t serve any normal drinks only yuppie stuff. I’ll stick to my $12 California burrito. West coast best coast.

Google
Food was amazing and the staff was beyond kind and accommodating of my food allergies (dairy, gluten, egg). They have gluten free rolls for their sandwiches including the samplers!! Will be frequenting here and highly recommend. Order at counter and grab a seat. Bus your own tables. Good, laid back atmosphere with bomb food!

Google
Got the lobster flight (chips and drink included) and honestly probably couldn’t tell the difference between the butters except the spicy honey butter. Not the best roll I had but decent enough. My friend got the lobster bisque which was pretty good.

Yelp
My husband and I recently visited Luke's Lobster in Boston, and it was a delightful experience! We tried the lobster roll, clam chowder, and lobster bisque, and all of them were absolutely delicious. The lobster roll was fresh and flavorful, with just the right amount of seasoning to let the lobster shine. Both the clam chowder and lobster bisque were rich and comforting, perfect for a cool day. We also had the blueberry lemonade, which was a bit too sweet for our taste, but still enjoyable. The honey notes were a nice touch, adding a unique twist to the drink. Ordered via Uber and did not experience the location, unable to review service and ambiance Overall, a great spot for seafood lovers! We look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this lobster spot in Boston and decided to give it a shot--it looked promising! We tried a bunch of items: the seafood platter, lobster bisque, lobster platter, clam chowder, and a few exotic sodas. The lobster bisque was rich and flavorful, and the clam chowder was a standout--really creamy and delicious. The seafood platter was decent, but it didn't quite wow us. As for the exotic sodas... a bit too adventurous for my taste, but I appreciate the variety they offer! Overall, it was a good meal with friendly customer service and a unique beachy decor that you'd expect more by the coast than in the city center, but it totally worked. Definitely a fun spot to check out if you're in the mood for some seafood in Boston!

Ellie W.

Yelp
Amazing lobster and crab rolls. The lobster bisque compliments the rolls very well. The clam chowder was okay (too many potatoes in my opinion haha). Service is quick and polite! And ambiance is so fun!! I like how they tell you where they sourced their seafood. Overall, these are some pricey rolls, but almost all seafood is, so I think Luke's makes for a great special treat!

Brad H.

Yelp
This spot was delicious and great for enjoying some quick lobster and clam chowder! We really enjoyed the clam chowder and the rolls. We could have finished a flight each but we wanted to try more and keep on moving

Ilene S.

Yelp
Lobster, lobster and lobster. We couldn't get enough. The sample was the way to go, 3 sandwiches each with different flavors. I loved the truffle butter and the lemon butter the most. We ordered them cold but next time I would like to try them warm. Luke's is a quick place to grab a great bite to eat. Just order at the counter and shortly later they call your name. The lobster is delicious, large pieces - tasty and amazing. The clam chowder was lite on clams and the broth wasn't thick and rich but more diluted. We sat looking outside watching people walking by.

Yelp
We've been long time fans of Luke's Lobster, ever since their early days with a single shop on 7th street in New York's East Village. It's amazing to see how much they've grown and while the lobster roll has increased in price over the years, the quality and taste remains excellent. And therefore, still well worth the indulgence in my opinion. There's plenty of great seafood and lobster roll joints in Boston but on our first night, we were exhausted and looking for a place to eat so when we saw there was a Luke's Lobster nearby, we decided to go with a tried and true classic. It did not disappoint!

Maddy M.

Yelp
Fun, bright, clean lobster spot in Back Bay. We ordered two The Mainer combos. An interesting take on a lobster roll, "Luke's Way" is seasoned and served in a hot bun. The combo came with clam chowder, Cape Cod chips, a delicious homemade pickle, and a drink. This was our favorite of the three lobster rolls we had while in town. Elevated food and drink in a casual setting.

Oren R.

Yelp
Holy cow this place was mega tasty. My taste buds were literally sizzling like they were at a rave or something idk. I got the seafood flight and all of it was absolutely gaseous! Super vibes and tastes and I came here with my boss man and it was a good time. My only critique of this place is that you shouldn't go into the first baghroom( the lock doesn't work and people could prob walk in on you when you're going #2 Oopsie)!

Jeff B.

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of expensive seafood and I'll go to have seafood at a restaurant because my partner likes it and I try to be a good sport. But - oh my goodness - Luke's has my attention. We came here the other evening and I was so happy and satisfied with the meal - even when I got the bill! We started with soup - one clam chowder $6for a cup) and one lobster bisque ($12 for a bowl). Both were rich, creamy and delicious, with small bits of fish in most spoonfuls. Then the lobster. My partner got the 6 oz lobster roll with lemon butter and I got the lobster roll "flight". The lobster was perfect in taste and texture. The bun is simple, but has its own flavor/texture that is good on its own and also combines well with the juicy and tasty lobster. Each of the three rolls in the flight includes 2 ounces of meat. I was surprised how satisfying and filling the flight was. Of the three varieties in the flight (lemon butter, spicy honey butter, and truffle butter), I didn't get much from the truffle butter. The lemon butter was great and the spicy honey butter was outstanding. Both the lobster roll and the lobster roll flight come with chips and a drink. We also got a side of poppyseed slaw, which was delish. The restaurant is not fancy. You order at a counter and then find seats at one of the tables.

Danny T.

Yelp
Food is great! Very hearty lobster seasoned amazingly. Paired with a warm bowl of clam chowder on a rainy Boston day is a very satisfying meal. The ambiance is completely dead inside. There's no music and even though the place was pretty packed, it felt like I was eating with a restaurant full of mimes. It was a little unnerving. A little music can go a long way. The food excels but the ambiance is needing some life!

Paula R.

Yelp
Found this place on my short walk outside my hotel as I was not prepared for the cool evening in Boston. The food was quite tasty and served promptly. The service was okay. I found one of the food preparers more polite than the cashier. I'm no pork and was inquiring if the chowder contained any pork products. That seemed to confuse her and it was more her not being knowledgeable than anything. It's not the sort of place to stay for a while, but if looking for a quick and economical lobster meal, this is your place.

Dondi D.

Yelp
My son and I got the classic lobster roll. Doesn't look like much but serving was just right for both of us.

Taj T.

Yelp
I sat through 5-6 hours of traffic to visit Boston. I didn't come with the intention of visiting only for Luke's Lobster Roll, but after my meal, I was so satisfied that I was ready to pack my bags and head home without taking any other sights! Well worth every penny. You will be treated to perfectly toasted, buttery and flaky buns that are stuffed with generous helpings of lobster, cramp, and shrimp. I was not expecting to be eating such large chunks of fresh lobster meat, but I was pleasantly surprised. With fish this fresh, the fish doesn't even taste fishy! Of course, there's the fantastic flavors that Luke's smothers every type of roll with. My favorite was the classic garlic butter, but I loved having the option to try them all in the lobster roll flight. Truffle Butter and Spicy Honey are definitely worth tasting, along with the shrimp and crab roll. The clam chowder has no bacon! Non-pork eaters rejoice! The service is exceptional. Even though it's kind of like fast food, the cooks come by and check in on us. When we wanted to add on more items, they started the process and said we'd take care of the money later so we wouldn't have to leave our seats. Every interaction I had with them was pleasant and had an understated, genuine kindness behind it. In the warm, casual but comfy dining room where you can see the open kitchen and the cooks preparing your meals in front of you, Luke's feels like a little oasis of peace in bustle of Boston.

Yelp
What would a visit to Boston be without at least trying their Lobster Rolls eh? Having done some research as to the best places for some really good Boston lobster rolls, we stumbled across Luke's, and fortunately for us, there happened to be one just across from our hotel. And yea, it's a fast food joint, and I hardly ever give such good ratings for fast food outlets, but this place deserves an exception. The menu can be a bit confusing for any first timer as there are many combinations of rolls that you can order that come with with a number of different seafoods, flavors, sides, and drinks. Or, you can just order the classic Lobster Roll with Lemon Butter. Either the person taking your order will see how bewildered, overwhelmed, and confused you look and ask if this is your first time there, or just tell them that this is your first time there and he/she will take out and show you one of their hidden photo menus and explain everything to you. So, since this was our first time there, it was recommended we try one of the "Flights" of mini rolls to try, so that we can which flavors and seafoods we really liked. I went ahead and ordered the Seafood Flight.....which comes with one each of the mini lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls.....and this came with a bag of chips (which you help yourself to) and a drink. Unfortunately, no alcohol is served here.....which was so disappointing to my wife as she loves her cold brewsky with any meal. Anyway, she knew exactly what she wanted and went ahead and ordered the Lobster Flight....or three mini lobster rolls with lemon, spicy honey, and truffle flavors. And just to complete our meal, we went ahead and ordered one Lobster Bisque and one Clam Chowder soup. WOW! Everything we ordered was amazingly delicious! It is also worth mentioning that the rolls were not too thick too...and didn't overwhelm the seafood, and once grilled with some butter, it had a nice light crunch to its thin crust...and tasted amazing along with the combination of the freshest and perfectly flavored seafood. After taking just one bite, you can tell that this was Lobster (or seafood) Roll perfection! The amount of lobster, crab, shrimp in each roll was also very generous.....unlike the lobster roll we had at a full service restaurant a couple of days ago. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were also nice and thick, full of ingredients, and absolutely delicious!......but be careful not to sit at the table right under the cold blowing AC or your soup will get cool fast. Oh ya, those small bags of kettle chips that came with each order....yea, they were so good too! Went great with the rolls as it added some nice and yummy crunch to the meal. Needless to say, my wife and I were totally enjoyed our lunch and were so impressed by the quality of Luke's lobster/seafood rolls. So much so that after we were done with the lobster and seafood flights, we went back and ordered a regular Lobster Roll, just because they were so addictive, and we just couldn't get enough of it! This was an excellent experience for sure.....so much so that we came back here again the following day when the rest of our visiting guests arrived. Yes, lobster rolls in Boston are not cheap at all......a lunch for a group of five of us on the second day's visit came to about $250...the most expensive fast food meal I had ever paid for in my life......but oh boy! ....it was so worth it! :D

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Luke's was our first stop in Boston! We split a Lobster roll & Clam chowder. Wished we had gotten the roll warmed - didn't prefer it cold but felt rushed to order and missed it was something you have to ask for. We were not blow away by the chowder, could be better. Loved the chili vibes of this spot!

Cassandra L.

Yelp
Stopped in for a bite on our little walk around the Boston public library. Really good and quick service. Place was clean and cool. Check them out!

Kaitlyn S.

Yelp
Sure, for $94, we could've sat down and been served somewhere BUT - the quality really was just as good! And, gotta love a B Corp certified business! If you aren't opposed to chains, definitely give a try.

Irene W.

Yelp
Have heard so much about this place so we made it a stop on our trip and it's definitely worth another visit if I'm ever in the area again. The prices aren't too bad for what you get, and each roll we got, even though it was the mini versions I think, was stuffed with lobster meat and it was so fresh while also still flavorful. The process is to place your order at the counter and pay, then they will call your name/number and hand you your order. We didn't wait too long for our orders and we came during a slow hour so it wasn't too bad. This location is definitely a great place to grab a quick bite with friends or do some people-watching.

Cody H.

Yelp
Delicious, one of the best rolls we had while in Maine. Great location and you can see the boats coming in. Very friendly staff.

Stephy S.

Yelp
Tasty lobster roll. Had pretty decent inside seating. No bells and whistles that you need with lobster.

Kasey G.

Yelp
Holy cow these lobster rolls were amazing. I got the lobster flight- truffle, hot honey, lemon and each was amazing in its own way A must try !!!!

Lorenz K.

Yelp
While in Boston, we had to try a lobster roll, and we did just that. I ordered the spicy honey lobster roll with a cup of lobster bisque, while my husband went for the regular lobster roll with a cup of New England clam chowder. Honestly, I think his combo was better. Stick with the original lobster roll; the honey didn't really complement the lobster, and I couldn't taste any spice either.

Brian B.

Yelp
First time eating here. I had the seafood flight. All three were very good. Good root beer as well.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
The lobster roll was the best. My crab roll needed more sauce and the shrimp roll was ok. Definitely size of ny

Ellen M.

Yelp
Pros: Walkable from most downtown area hotels Cute interior Fast service Cons: Got the Trip - nice sized bites, but shrimp, crab meat and lobster lacked any real flavor. Could have used a dash of Old Bay or salt. Maybe some celery Lobster Mac and cheese was a mushy pile of tasteless goo as was the clam chowder. No fountain drinks Pro tip: I'd go to Legal Seafood in the mall if you want a tastier lobster roll

Araceli A.

Yelp
BEST rolls we've ever had. Service was quick & the place was super cute. Can't wait to visit again

Julie D.

Yelp
Better rolls in our opinion than. Neptune's which has this great reputation. The truffle butter warm was my favorite!! Service quick. Wish we had more time in Boston to get it again!!!

Di H.

Yelp
Not sure what's the fuzz is about this place. We had all the rolls and both soups, and honestly speaking it's not worth the money. Better to eat at Rob's at the market place. The lobster roll is pure lobster, with little to no additional spices or flavoring. The bread is toasted with butter, but overall effect is underwhelming. The crab roll and the shrimp roll are the same. At least put some butter or mayo and a bit of garnish. The clam chowder is ok, nothing special. But the lobster bisque is disappointing, it pretty thin and lack any punch. Honestly the lobster bisque from Costco is better.

Bernard H.

Yelp
I am a frequent customer of Luke's in Boston, both in downtown and in the Back Bay. Their GM is Imar and he is wonderful--Luke's are lucky to have him in the job. Everyone is happy when he is there! And their seafood is absolute top quality!

Nelson L.

Yelp
Good lobster roll and fries. Quick service. Pretty expensive for what you get tho. Still a classic!

Malek B.

Yelp
Lobster rolls are excellent - ordered just 4 ounce, no mayo. They butter and grill the buns, and although 4 ounces didn't sound like enough / much, it was plenty. You could skip the melted butter, I would not recommend doing so. There are several other lobster roll shops - we didn't have time while in town to try more than just this one. Didn't especially like the seating arrangements, tables / hard surface chairs or wooden lobster boat decor - I know that's probably the point. They do have lots of turnover - maybe b/c the seats are uncomfortable? Wasn't in the mood for the decor, especially with the $$$ prices lobster roll.

Jason E.

Yelp
It was good but man it ain't cheap. Not their fault as food costs are what they are. If I was in another tax bracket I'd go very often. I'll be back.

Nakita G.

Yelp
Ordered the lobster roll flight and it was okay and I'm glad that I tried it, but I probably wouldn't order it again. I would come back here--the place is clean, the food was okay (I'd just try a different roll), and they had good customer service. I didn't try the clam chowder so I would like to try it here.

Brian L.

Yelp
I got the chance to visit Boston and I just had to get a lobster roll somewhere. Landed at Luke's Lobster since it was within walking distance from the place I was staying. The interior is nice, with ample seating and decorations. However, I came at a weird time, so I can't say what the seating situation is like during the lunch or dinner rushes. I ordered the Lobster Roll flight and a 12oz clam chowder. The lobster roll flight comes with 3 separate lobster rolls: lemon butter, spicy honey, and truffle butter. Out of the 3, I would say that the spicy honey was my favorite. I think that the flavors just came together particularly well and didn't conflict too much with the lobster. The clam chowder was pretty normal, nothing crazy different from any other clam chowder you would normally get. I think that my only complaint is that the lobster rolls are fairly small, small enough for me to describe them as "bite-size". Thankfully the order came with a bag of chips as well, otherwise, I don't think it would have been enough food for me.

Tiffany K.

Yelp
When in Boston, you have to try a lobster roll. Believe it or not, this was actually my first! I was unsure which one to try, so I ended up getting the lobster flight. They were decently sized rolls with generous portions of fresh lobster. I loved all of the flavors, but my favorite was the classic. The food is a bit on the pricer side, and I can see how can might be difficult to justify the price for such a casual meal. But I promise it's well worth the money. Lobster is not something I typically order, but Luke's left a lasting impression. I can't wait to come back again!

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Fantastic service. Followed the guidance another yelper shared with ordering the flight with some clam chowder. Ended up coming here twice on my trip. My favorite was the spicy honey version. The flaky warm bread, with the sweet spice of the honey combined with the lobster were so delightful. It's on the more expensive side, but it was well worth it. I also enjoyed the clam chowder but definitely worth it to have a lobster roll :)

Winnie T.

Yelp
No wait on a Sunday evening. Fortunately we found a seat there but it could get crowded since it's not that big of a place. Best to come in max of 4 people. It's also self served. Not much customer service interaction. Good amount of items on the food menu. I really like how they have different types of lobster flavors. We got the lobster flight, and it was surprisingly a good amount per roll (keeping in mind that me and my friend are small people who weren't really that hungry). Bread would be a bit more seasoned to help compliment the lobster rolls, but it's probably a staple there. The clam chowder was great for the cold weather. Price was all reasonable. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back here again.

Darcy D.

Yelp
I came here specifically because 1. They are sustainably sourced (they even tell you where the food you're eating was sourced on their wall), 2. They have different flavors of lobster rolls like hot honey, truffle, and lemon butter. I've never heard of that before, and 3. You can get a flight of lobster rolls! That's right folks, you can try every flavor in one combo basket! I got the flight with the three flavors of lobster roll, a lobster bisque, and a drink. The total with tip came to about $60. It's not cheap, but keep in mind it's a lot of lobster! Even the mini rolls had a lot of meat on them.) I wasn't sure how I'd feel about honey on lobster, but I was pleasantly surprised. And the TRUFFLE?! Ohhh the TRUFFLE! and the bisque was hot, creamy, and perfect for this cloudy, rainy day. Obviously I loved the food. Also, the service staff was very sweet. This is a quick serve restaurant, so I didn't have much interaction outside of that. This is a quick and delicious little casual spot! I would definitely stop back by on my next trip to Boston.

Kevin P.

Yelp
Great spot to hang out on their patio! The food was fresh and fantastic. The service was quick and our server did a great job!

Shawn P.

Yelp
Impeccable lobster rolls. I can't speak highly enough about this pls e and their amazing food. Good, quick service and nice ambiance.

Jocelyn K.

Yelp
First time visiting Boston so we had to get a lobster roll, and this spot did not disappoint! The lobster roll ($24) was super fresh and the bun was toasted nicely for the perfect crisp on the outside but still pillowy on the inside. The clam chowder ($6 or $8, I forgot) was also great. I'd love to try their hot honey flavor next time.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Tldr: The rolls were fresh and tasty but it felt overpriced for the amount of food you receive I got a the shrimp/lobster/crab flight while my friends ordered a the lobster roll flight (Truffle butter, hot, cold). All the seafood tasted fresh. There was a fair amount of seating + candles per table so it felt kind of classy. It's an order at the counter type of location, food came out pretty quick (within 10 mins). I went with my flight based on a previous yelp review and I will agree with that review stating "don't sleep on the crab roll". I know it's a lobster place, and the lobster roll was good, but the crab roll was simply delicious and clean tasting. The shrimp roll was pretty basic. If I could go back, def would double down on the crab roll. Otherwise, worth trying because it's a chain, but would venture elsewhere for more lobster rolls.

Alena T.

Yelp
I've been living on the east coast for almost 5 years now and hadn't tried a lobster roll yet, so decided to take the plunge when my boyfriend came to town. He has Celiac disease so I was excited to see that Luke's offers gluten free rolls and our entire experience was so great! The staff was knowledgeable about gluten free options and asked if it was an allergy. We were limited to the cold lobster because of the way the warm lobster is prepared I believe but I'm not complaining. Yes, the rolls are pricy, but inflation has hit everything hard and I don't think lobster has been particularly cheap for a little while so I wasn't too surprised by the total. We both just got a normal 4oz lobster roll (GF) and I could not believe the quality of their GF rolls!! One thing I always joke with my boyfriend about is how sad GF bread is but I was shocked by how good, buttery and toasty this roll was. I even thought it might be a normal roll but he didn't feel sick after which is so awesome. We got quite a good amount of lobster in our rolls and it was super good quality and tasted amazing. Highly recommend this place and look forward to trying other variants of the rolls!

Melissa S.

Yelp
The lobster roll was decent. I've had better but I've had way worse. The clam chowder was OK. Again I've had much better. The ambience was a bit strange but whatever it was fine. The service was OK not great. It was no ice for the sodas which were warm so that was the disappointment.

Susan J.

Yelp
Good fast food seafood rolls. Would have liked more seafood but very tasty and affordable. Would have lined some organic salad options in place of potato chips included on meal price. Liked the all natural soda option that was included in price of meal.

Dee H.

Yelp
Visited here on super cold day and enjoyed a nice hot cup of clam chowder. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Peggy W.

Yelp
Stopped off our Hop On Hop Off trolley in order to get a bathroom break at the Marriot and to find a lunch spot. Yelp! led us here and our group of 8 found seating readily. My husband and I had the 6oz lobster roll and soup combo. The clam chowder was good and the lobster roll was filled with nice chunks of lobster. Our only lobster roll experience we had was in Sydney, Canada and they were quite different from each other our friends had the trios which looked like a better deal and they could sample the shrimp roll and crab roll. Cute place but not a whole lot to write home about.

Frances L.

Yelp
My favorite lobster rolls and amazing Crab Rolls! This is a family favorite. Luke's menu is simple and the seafood shines through. Our family of four ordered a variety of rolls with soup and coleslaw. I just love how Luke dresses their seafood-very lightly dressed with Mayo or a drizzle of butter and a sprinkle of their special seasoning. Crab Roll-my absolute favorite!! Loads of sweet crab in a toasty bun. Lobster Flight-2 oz lobster trio. Spicy honey, Lemon and Truffle butter. So good! The Truffle butter lobster roll was a family favorite. Shrimp Roll-small sweet salad shrimp was delicious. Lobster Bisque-creamy lobster bisque was full of seafood flavor. Clam Chowder-great consistency and loaded with clams, potato and flavor. Coleslaw-poppy seed coleslaw was tangy crunchy and complemented our meal. Great meal and we'll definitely be back when we're back in Boston!!
