Google
After hearing so much buzz about Luke's Lobster, I made a special trip to their Bethesda location with high expectations. Unfortunately, my experience fell somewhere in the middle range - not terrible, but certainly not worth the hype or price point. I ordered their signature lobster roll meal, which comes at a premium price that had me anticipating something truly exceptional. While the lobster meat was fresh, the portion size was surprisingly modest given what I paid. The roll itself was properly buttered and toasted, but the overall flavor profile was rather one-dimensional and lacked the wow factor I was hoping for. The service was efficient if not particularly memorable, and the atmosphere was pleasant enough. However, I couldn't shake the feeling of being underwhelmed throughout my meal. For the significant price point, I expected a more generous portion and more complex flavors that would justify the cost. Luke's Lobster isn't bad by any means - it's just not the extraordinary seafood experience their reputation and prices suggest. If you're curious, by all means give it a try, but manage your expectations and be prepared for a decent, albeit overpriced, meal rather than a mind-blowing culinary adventure.

Let’s start off by saying if you are not willing to pay for quality seafood then this is not the restaurant for you. I ended up getting a cup of clam chowder & a 6oz lobster roll. The chowder had a great consistency and flavor but the clams were a bit overcooked so they were super chewy. Now the roll was the star of the show. It was fresh and filling. I like that they have portion options. Overall the menu is a pricey but it’s quality.

Google
Absolutely love any kind of their lobster rolls. Spicy honey butter lobster is one of the best. Snow crab is very moist and delicious, it is pretty good option if you want to try something other than lobster. Had the Luke’s Trio at first to try their variety option, shrimp is just alright, and crab is decent. Recommend going straight for lobster or crab roll. The lobster bisque is thick, flavorful, and creamy with lobster pieces, nice but not a must-try. I got the Lobster bisque, Luke’s trio, spicy honey butter lobster, lobster roll, snow crab roll.

Google
The truffle lobster roll is alright and we didn’t even taste the black truffle in it. Warning ‼️ DONT EVER order the truffle lobster roll because they trick customers with that flavor and you only taste lobster in it lol. But this restaurant called Mason’s Lobster that I’ve been to in my area is better than this location. Last time when my family and friends ate the Luke’s lobster rolls in NYC, it was a lot better than this location

Google
Not filling even the 6 OZ didn’t do it for me. Forgot to bring out my side of chips and also the Soup was cold we got it reheated but it really wasn’t that good. Got the lobster Bisque and it was too fishy clearly been there for a while. The only thing that was good was the location right in the heart of Bethesda and also the lobster was tasty but got 4 Lobster Rolls 2 lobster bisques and 2 drinks roughly around $180 for everything. I would say Oyster bar has better servings and for similar price but you get a lot of fries with it to fill you up. Overall was it good yes but would I come again, no.

Google
This place is really good recommend to visit. It is a bit on the pricier side but these are delicious rolls I have ever eaten. Thought the sandwiches would be warm sandwiches, but were cold. It’s okay, still was good.

Google
Excellent food! I got the 3 roll sampler, but they didn't bring out any butter. Is there supposed to be butter to dip the rolls in? I had a good experience here but it would have been much better if I had butter to dip the rolls in.

Google
My lobster roll was expensive but fresh. The meat itself wasn't the most flavorful I've had but it was pretty good

Yelp
Luke's Lobster is so good!! I went on a lobster kick a few months ago in attempt to get extra protein, that was also low in calories and fat, but also offers other nutritional value such vitamin B and omega 3 fatty acids. I ordered so much that they eventually sent me a rewards card via uber eats..thanks!! My orders were also correct and nicely packaged. I typically ordered the lobster roll flight, and it was delicious! It consist of a 2oz lemon butter roll, a 2oz spicy honey butter roll, and a 2oz truffle butter roll. It's also served with a side of chips and a pickle (both are optional). I also would get the regular 6 oz roll. I have tried the lobster bisque, however, it wasn't my fave..and thats ok! And it's pricey..but that's expected! Overall, Luke's Lobster for the win..I highly recommend!

Yelp
Randomly came here recently while visiting Bethesda since I'm a lobster fan. I'm glad I came. I got the seafood flight trio with lobster, shrimp and crab. All three were delicious. I honestly think it was the sauce that they put on the top of it that I liked the most. That flavor was perfect. The place inside is small with limited seating but they also have outside tables. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
Incredible lobster rolls from new england right in the heart of downtown Bethesda. I enjoyed my meal here. service was straightforward with ordering and then getting your meal when ready. The space is very small so not ideal for large groups. Added to my list of places to frequent.
google avatar

Lauren L.

Yelp
Delicious. The truffle was my favorite. The spicy honey was odd, but still delicious. I definitely did not see these flavors in Bar harbor.
google avatar

Susan U.

Yelp
I forgot to take any picture! We had the spicy Honey Butter rolls and White Truffle rolls and both were really delicious and tasty. The location, Bethesda Row is such a perfect spot for diners, they have wide outdoor seating as well. With the clam chowder, we were very satisfied. The staff were nice. This is such a very good experience for lobster roll goodness!
google avatar

LaTeri M.

Yelp
I was really excited about trying this place. It's a takeout type restaurant not a sitdown restaurant. So the lobster rolls had good flavor and I appreciate it because I took them to go. They did not put the sauce on it so that they wouldn't be soggy when I went to eat them. The service is quick and good. Definitely if you're in the mood for a lobster roll and you're in Montgomery County that's a good place to go.
google avatar

Sid M.

Yelp
Really good customer service and delicious lobster rolls. The lobster pieces are also pretty good, not the best I've ever had but it will fulfill your appetite if you're craving a delicious lobster roll.
google avatar

Felicia C.

Yelp
YUM!!! I love this place. The space inside is quite small but there is room for a party of two and a party of four. They have cups and water for you and there is plenty of nice outdoor seating. When I'm craving lobster rolls, I come here! Absolutely delicious! I love getting the Luke's Trio because I like having multiple options to choose from. It comes with half of a crab roll, half of a lobster roll, and half of a shrimp roll. We also got a side of lobster bisque soup which was absolutely delicious. We ordered at the register and then grabbed a seat and they came over to hand us out plates. The ambiance is quick casual. I think this is a nice spot for take out or just to grab a quick bite!
google avatar

Mia S.

Yelp
I love these crab rolls and really appreciate how they give you bunch of meat! The crab is not overly seasoned and I appreciated how the freshness and pure crab flavor shines through the additional seasoning. The bread was super buttery and I wish it was a little crispier, but I still enjoyed it. You can't go wrong with a bunch of crab and slaths of butter. Only con is that it's a bit pricey to eat here!
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
I go here at least once a month and I always get the same thing because it's CONSISTENT. The flavor, the freshness of the lobster.... I love it all!
google avatar

Craig D.

Yelp
(4) ~ very good overall food & service DRINKS: ** Blueberry Soda = (4.25) Very tasty * Honey Blueberry Lemonade = (3.5) good FOOD: ** Lobster Roll (6 oz,) = (4) very good, but would be better if they put melted butter on the sides of the roll;) ** Clam Chowder (sm) = (4) very good amount of clams *** Snow Crab Roll = Not available, but it was listed on their website, so I recommend updating the Website menu...
google avatar

Samuel A.

Yelp
Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Food was excellent and fresh. I'll certainly be back!

Susan L.

Yelp
Lobster roll was good ($26) but $8 for less than 1/2 cup of clam chowder is ridiculous!
google avatar

Inda C.

Yelp
Incredibly meaty crab rolls in the flight. Seasoned well. We got them warm. Great service.

Yelp
I came to Luke's Lobster Bethesda on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and son. There are multiple nearby parking garages as well as street parking so you shouldn't have an issue if you drive into Bethesda. There are a few tables setup outside of the restaurant as well as some seating inside. It was not super packed when we walked inside so we decided to eat inside. We were not super hungry so we ordered Luke's Trio to share. The trio comes with a 2oz Lobster Roll, 2oz Crab Roll and 2oz Shrimp Roll. We also grabbed a bag of chips and a blueberry lemonade. The Lobster Roll was the best, huge chunks of lobster... they do not skimp! The sauce ratio was just right, enough for flavor and not too much where it drenches the roll. The Crab Roll was delicious as well, lots and lots of crab meat. The Shrimp Roll was probably my least favorite of the three... it was still good, but the lobster and crab were just significantly better. Overall we had a positive experience as we always do here. The staff are always polite and food comes out quickly. The menu is definitely pricey, but the food is fresh and they do not short you on the amount of lobster/crab/shrimp/etc. :)

Yelp
Had the lobster roll, chowder and a cold beer. Yes it was amazing! Service was great. Atmosphere was unpretentious.
google avatar

Liza P.

Yelp
Although I haven't ordered from here in over two years I thought enough time had passed since my last non pleasurable lunch order that so I could give it another try. I ordered the lobster trio and all 3 were just not fresh/edible at least not by my seafood standards or taste. In future will listen to my gut literally and steer clear of LL.

Yelp
I'm from Rhode Island so I know real fresh lobster caught from the sea in the morning. And that is what Luke's serves you: a delicious fresh tasty lobster roll. Ask for the large portion. It's six ounces of lobster. Add the delicious clam chowder a bag of chips and a bottle of root beer. You will swear that you're in Maine or somewhere in New England that knows how to cook real seafood. So if you want the real thing and you are willing to spend 100 dollars on a meal for 2 this place is the real thing. They also have a location right next to the White House in Washington DC on H Street.
google avatar

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
Not sure if it was off week or what. Finally I was able to have a lobster roll. First day no bread, second visit bread no lobster. Finally on my third visit they had all three ingredients, but no lobster bisque. For the price I had expected to love it, but I wasn't overly please with small roll with the price paid. Service was lacking since had mentioned she was getting bread but never did. I wanted to really liked it.
google avatar

Jose F.

Yelp
The lobster and clam chowder were absolutely fresh and delicious! Great quality seafood right here. I would definitely come again! It may seem pricey, but seafood in general is pricey, not to mention the quality!
google avatar

Erica L.

Yelp
The lobster roll here really is excellent. Very fresh, perfect amount of seasoning, served on a buttered toasted roll. This outpost is tiny with four rickety wooden tables with chairs outside, the least happening of the food establishments in Bethesda Lane. I do think it's pricey but I know fresh seafood is expensive especially these days. It's $25 for four ounces which is surprisingly filling but I just couldn't justify the $34 splurge for six ounces. The coleslaw could use work. It's too bitter and not very balanced. It's too bad since there aren't many sides. I'd definitely be back for the lobster roll but given the price point I'll have to wait a bit.
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
My wife and kids really liked it...but it was like $40 for a TINY sandwich and it didn't even come with a bag of chips. I get that good lobster isn't cheap, but that's insane. $20 tops for a tiny lobster roll is acceptable.
google avatar

George E.

Yelp
Not worth the money. Very pricy for the amount you recieve. Parking is very hazardous also as cars speeding down the avenue

Jessica S.

Yelp
OMG!!! I am originally from Massachusetts (born and raised) and since moving to Bethesda in 2015 I have been CRAVING New England seafood. Well, today Luke's Lobster was doing the Savor Bethesda dinner which consisted of a $35 Dinner: Lobster Roll + Kettle Chips (Cape Cod potato chips) + Cup of Clam Chowder + Whoopie Pie...BLOWN AWAY! 1. The clam chowder has NO BACON which is a win since I don't eat bacon or pork. This is hard to find! 2. The lobster roll tasted just like what I would get on Cape Cod - epic! 3. I craved having a whoopie pie since it is hard to get these in Maryland. Will try soon. But, oh man for the deal SO WORTH IT! It made me feel like I was back home. I will be back!

Yelp
Small place on the corner of Bethesda Lane, gives the nautical vibes you would expect from a seafood place, the staff was very informative and helpful with deciding what to get.. The Lobster roll where very good, the roll itself was buttery, fluffy and toasted just right, the lobster sweet with large n freshly chopped pieces.. hot butter always the way to go, Truffle butter was fine
google avatar

Danette D.

Yelp
Found this place on Google and decided to give them a try for lunch during my visit to Bethesda. They definitely didn't skimp on lobster meat and it wasn't drowning in mayo which made the sandwich more enjoyable. I think if I had some melted lemon butter to drizzle over the top.... man that would have been 5 stars for me. Staff explained the different sandwiches and recommended a Mexican cola to wash it down
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
Great food and super tasty every single bit. The service was great and super helpful for the people that are deciding between two things. The place is great and the space is amazing.
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
Posted Menu pricing very deceptive. Current pricing, June 2021 is considerably more than the published menu and photos with prices. Did enjoy the lobster roll. I would recommend it if you love lobster. would like to see a better type of bread though. A better bun/bread would have earned another star.
google avatar

Shelly J.

Yelp
5 stars!! Im already hip to Lukes Lobster. I would frequent their DC location countless times when I worked downtown. We had their Valentines Day special 2 meals for $40... plus a discount if you use their app. Trio was good... but shrimp was the least favorite roll. The Maine Root drinks were great n refreshing. Awesome service. Young manager gave the best service and chat with my guy pal since both were from the New England area. Def will return.
google avatar

Emmeline N.

Yelp
I love Luke's Lobster! The quality or the rolls and the amount of meat you get in each roll is so filling and scrumptious. When you come here you have to get the truffle butter with your rolls...... it is absolutely mouth watering. I ordered carry out so I asked for deconstructed(everything is in separate containers and ready to put together once your ready to eat) I paired my roll up with a cup of clam chowder and mannnnn ohhhh man!!! I am beyond satisfied.
google avatar

Rose J.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Pricey for the size. Parking was difficult. Strange in Tn for same delicious fresh flavor, I receive a bigger quantity and a smaller bill.

Christina W.

Yelp
So incredibly overpriced for what you get! $27 for three 2oz rolls: lobster, shrimp, and crab. With that you get a bag of chips. Sunday evening at 6 they had only1 cold beer and they were out of coleslaw. Not going back!

Jake B.

Yelp
Solid lobster roll and Alaskan crab roll. Great chowdah. Be prepared to pay for parking.

Kathy K.

Yelp
Excellent lobster rolls and fair price for them. They tasted very fresh and right off the boat! Good outdoor seating and lots of fun people-watching. They offer several choices on how they serve up the lobster rolls and create a large slice of heavenly flavor! We always come here when we visit family in the area and are never disappointed. Service is great and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I spent a decent amount of time this summer in New England and fell and love with lobster rolls there. So I was craving lobster rolls and came to take care of my hankerin'. I got a 4oz lobster roll, a drink and the lobster bisque. My boyfriend got the larger lobster roll and Mac and cheese. The lobster roll we got sans mayo. I'm just not a fan of mayo. After spending time in N.E. I expected a warm lobster butter poached roll. That isn't what I got. So it was a cold lobster roll so I was a little disappointed. It was good with chunks of lobster. I especially liked the seasoning. The bread was light and fluffy and had a nice toasted crisp on it. Overall I wish it was warm as it was a cold day. The Mac and cheese was very creamy but not very cheesy, if that makes sense. It came with a side of breadcrumbs which was a little strange. It think it was to help thicken it but it still lacked flavor and gooey ness I like in Mac and cheese. The lobster bisque had big chunks of lobster and tasted fantastic! Super flavorful but not as hot as I would of wanted it. My biggest "complaint" with the bisque is that it wasn't big enough haha. Next time I'll probably come back and get just a large bisque. My boyfriend and I agree skip the Mac but if you like a cold roll then this is a good one.

Yelp
Delicious lobster, shrimp, and crab rolls. Yes, they are pricy, but they are fresh and sustainably sourced (according to the signs, at least!) I also enjoyed the Green Bee sparkling water. This unsweetened drink would fit into any diet. Where this restaurant really shines is in the excellent customer service. Jimmy took my order and (when I asked about deals) told me about the $3 off deal through the Luke's Lobster Level Up app. My food was prepared while I waited for the app to download, so there was minimal time between paying and enjoying the delicious seafood. Thank you! I'll be back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the two flannels bowl. This bowl was packed with healthy goodness. It had a whole lobster tail on top of a bed of greens, picked artichokes, grains, nuts, and radish! It was perfect with the fresh squeeze of lemon on top. Not to mention, the dressing was delicious. I looked at the ingredients and it was natural and healthy! The bowl was flavorful and had the perfect texture combination. It was crunchy and soft! I loved it and would come back to try other things on the menu!
google avatar

Leah K.

Yelp
LOVE Luke's Lobster! Love the Bethesda location primarily for the amazing staff and for its location. The staff here are so attentive and honest. I appreciate their suggestions and the food is always amazing. Recently stopped by on a chilly afternoon for a lobster roll and I grabbed a bowl of lobster corn soup as well. Staff suggested adding a little bit of hot sauce and oh my did it enhance the flavors. Definitely like the clam chowder better though. As for the lobster rolls, Luke's has the bang for your buck. I've tried several other places that serve lobster roll, but they either charge too much or barely have any lobster meat in the roll. Luke's has plenty of meat! Every bite is full of lobster and although your wallet may hurt for a moment, it is worth the money! Definitely worth trying a lobster roll when you're in the DC area!
google avatar

Jason J.

Yelp
Great food and even better staff. Had the flight and it was amazing experience. If I'm back that way I will be sure to return !
google avatar

AJ S.

Yelp
DOPE! Location is small, but I liked how cozy it felt. The staff was very friendly & took their time to explain the menu offerings. My first time, I ended up trying Luke's Trio which is probably the go-to for first-timers. It gives you a little bit of everything: half a lobster roll, half a shrimp roll, and half a crab roll... after trying that, I was hooked. I've been here multiple times since and have pretty much tried their whole menu, but I'm a creature of habit so once I've found something that I really like, I come back & usually order the same thing. I've tried their regular sized rolls, and I can confirm that each time it's been top-notch. If you're feeling really indulgent, try the jumbo lobster roll! Well done on the atmosphere, food, and service. It's on the pricier end of the spectrum but the delicious, buttery lobster rolls make it SO worth it.
google avatar

Christine P.

Yelp
Great lobster roll! I think $18 is a bit on the steeper side, but I was satisfied with the quality of the roll. The lobster chunks in the warmed butter bun were delicious and fresh! The portion is on the smaller side, so don't expect to be full from the one roll. They have a happy hour special M-F 4-7pm for their beers, but I wish they would have some specials from their food menu as well.
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
This is great place to get lobster rolls in Bethesda. I got the lobster combo with clam chowder and a blueberry soda. The soda was great and came in a cute bottle. I'm not usually a fan of lobster but I had a craving for it for some reason and am glad I stopped by. The lobster had some mayo andd seasoning on it and it didn't have a fishy taste I usually taste in lobster rolls. I probably won't come here too often but will stop by when I have a hankering for lobster again. I may try the crab or a shrimp roll next time.

Eric G.

Yelp
Next level lobster! I live in Maine and can say I'm a pretty good judge on lobster rolls and bisque. I had the 6oz roll and cup of bisque. Wow. Just wow!
google avatar

Stuart M.

Yelp
Today was national lobster day. So what other national days are out there? I went with their trifecta. Lobster roll. Came out chilled with a suboptimal consistency. The good news was there was not much filler. Next up, a chilled half lobster tail. The consistency was good, but flavor suffers after prolonged refrigeration. Lastly, lobster bisque. Wonderful deep flavor, but very little lobster influence. In short, it may be time for another trip to Maine.
google avatar

Gil H.

Yelp
Awesome Lobster Roll. Nice guy at the counter. Unassuming but really good food. If you want a pile of lobster in your mouth. Try this out.
google avatar

Adrian C.

Yelp
Listen, I think you need to understand something - this is a lobster roll. This isn't a sandwich that happens to have some lobster meat, this is a for-real, true to life, don't pass go/don't collect $200 LOBSTER ROLL! I've been to the Georgetown location many moons ago on a DC trip and wrote a long-winded review for that location. I will keep this one short and to the point: Eat all the lobster rolls. Eat 2 if you have to. Get them in ya belly and in ya life. The end.
google avatar

Ethan S.

Yelp
amazing lobster rolls and beverages, nice little chill place to grab a quick bite i recommend it
google avatar

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
I mean yes, it's going to be pricey, but it's lobster and so worth it! I've never been a heavy seafood person but this stuff hits the spot!

Yelp
Ya know, I have been to the Luke's Lobster in Washington, DC. That one was really special and I really enjoyed the experience there. It had a whimsical New England atmosphere and really homed in on authenticity of the product to the point I was hoping my bank would reward me with another visit. And they did. So figuring I really did not want to cook today, I decided to venture to another Luke's. You would think the experience would be the same, right? No, not really, no. Sure, the menu is the same, and so were the prices, but the atmosphere felt more dive-y instead of that traditional New England fish house look that I really enjoy. I also decided to try Luke's Trio, which for me was a learning experience because I had not tried the crab roll. Needless to say, it is not good. Overseasoned to the point that the taste is scrubbed away. The lobster and shrimp rolls lacked the "love" I had experienced while at the DC location. At the DC location, it was made there with compassion and a sincerity that the people really enjoy making them for their customers. Here, it was dole it out on a roll, here you go, thank you, have a nice day. Another thing. WHERE WAS MY PICKLE?! I am not kidding. This is the second time now I have not received a pickle with my order. Does it only come with the single rolls? If it does, then I will back down. If not, well, you know how I stand with this. I will not be returning to this location. While the employees were friendly and helpful, I did not feel like a welcomed customer, and that is why I left as quickly as I did. For future Luke's visits, I will just stick with the DC location.
