Ya know, I have been to the Luke's Lobster in Washington, DC. That one was really special and I really enjoyed the experience there. It had a whimsical New England atmosphere and really homed in on authenticity of the product to the point I was hoping my bank would reward me with another visit. And they did. So figuring I really did not want to cook today, I decided to venture to another Luke's. You would think the experience would be the same, right?
No, not really, no.
Sure, the menu is the same, and so were the prices, but the atmosphere felt more dive-y instead of that traditional New England fish house look that I really enjoy. I also decided to try Luke's Trio, which for me was a learning experience because I had not tried the crab roll. Needless to say, it is not good. Overseasoned to the point that the taste is scrubbed away. The lobster and shrimp rolls lacked the "love" I had experienced while at the DC location. At the DC location, it was made there with compassion and a sincerity that the people really enjoy making them for their customers. Here, it was dole it out on a roll, here you go, thank you, have a nice day.
Another thing. WHERE WAS MY PICKLE?! I am not kidding. This is the second time now I have not received a pickle with my order. Does it only come with the single rolls? If it does, then I will back down. If not, well, you know how I stand with this.
I will not be returning to this location. While the employees were friendly and helpful, I did not feel like a welcomed customer, and that is why I left as quickly as I did.
For future Luke's visits, I will just stick with the DC location.
