The 34 Best Athens Restaurants | Eater

"Lukumades are an easy, popular dessert throughout Greece, but this shop consistently ranks high among customers with sweet tooths. The fried dough balls are made with flour, dry yeast, water, and starch, and the simplest renditions are served with honey and cinnamon. But here you’ll find them with more than a dozen toppings, including all kinds of chocolate, nuts, and ice cream. There are also stuffed versions filled with praline, banana, or lemon cream with wild cherry. [$]" - Demetrios Ioannou

First time trying lukumádes, and they were delicious! The place was packed when we visited in the afternoon. It’s cute, but there's limited seating and it gets very noisy. These dough balls were freshly fried and not oily at all. They were a perfect match with the honey. 🍯 The ice cream we ordered was also tasty. I would definitely come back!

Everything was great at Lukumades! The loukoumades were fresh, warm, and perfectly crispy. I highly recommend trying the pistachio praline. It’s absolutely delicious. A must-visit spot in Athens!

An absolute must-try in Athens! Lukumades serves up some of the best Greek desserts I’ve had — crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and generously coated with delicious toppings. I tried the ones with pistachio cream, and they were out of this world! The place is bustling, full of energy, and you can tell it’s a local favorite. The staff were friendly and efficient even with the line out the door. Everything was fresh and made to order. If you’re in Athens and craving something sweet and authentic, this spot is a winner. Don’t miss it!

So bomb. Is it local / authentic - I'm sure not. But what a delicious treat, and very customizeable. Never had to wait too long - they make them fresh so short wait for that. Recommend to try if you're in Athens!

Loved our visit to Lukumades. Great coffee and the lukumades were delicious. I am normally a traditionalist and prefer honey and walnuts, but the pistachio flavour was a stand out for me. I found the chocolate lovely, but too rich for me. My son on the other hand, loved them!!

Tiny treats, massive calorie explosions 😁👍 One bite and they vanish in your mouth like magic. Must try, so tasty. Go with honey and cinnamon I would say for a more traditional taste, but its still so good with other toppings as well.

The dessert was pretty good. We got one order of lukumades with honey and cinnamon. It comes with 10 pieces. In our family of 6 people, 4 of us really liked it, and the other 2 didn't like it. They could use less honey, after eating, there is about a centimeter deep of honey in the tray.

Tried Lukumades and wow — these Greek donuts are amazing! They’re made fresh right there, soft, chewy, and super tasty. The honey and cinnamon on top made them even better. Definitely worth a visit if you’ve got a sweet tooth!
