Paris’s Most Exciting Restaurants Are in Belleville | Eater

"Opened in 2022 by Colombian chef Carlos Peñarredonda and Danish chef Mads Christensen, this colorful, casual restaurant delivers boldly spiced, Asian-inspired plates such as cheddar-and-kimchi croquettes with jalapeño-lime mayo, claypot red curry chicken, and fish-sauce–glazed barbecued octopus, signaling a modern homage to the area's Asian culinary heritage." - Vivian Song

We return to this location each time we visit the area. Friendly, attentive staff and excellent service! I love the Evil Noodles, but decided to try something different. The steak was absolutely amazing. It was cooked to internal temperature just as I ordered, and the glaze was perfect. However, be aware of the small amount of peanuts 🥜 in the topping. This dish was loaded with yummy veggies that complemented the steak. Hubby had chicken curry. He enjoyed it, but he wished he had a little more chicken.

We had an amazing dining experience at LuLu Bang Bang! From start to finish, everything was top-notch. Our waitress, Heather, was incredibly kind and attentive, adding to the overall great atmosphere. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including the Cucumber Mule, Berry Rosarita, calamari, chicken bao, crispy chicken wontons, Tuna Bomb, Kani Kama roll, shrimp pad thai, crab wontons, and the passion fruit crème brûlée—every bite was absolutely delicious! One of the things we loved about LuLu Bang Bang was the variety of options available for those with dietary restrictions. Whether you’re gluten-free or vegetarian, there are plenty of choices to accommodate different needs without sacrificing flavor. We made a reservation beforehand, which we highly recommend, as it made seating a breeze. The service was efficient, and we were in and out within an hour without feeling rushed. Plus, parking was easy and accessible. If you're looking for a fantastic meal with great service and inclusive menu options, LuLu Bang Bang is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!

My niece posted pics of food and drinks in her Snap that looked really good. She was at Lulu, so I added the place to my list. Made dinner plans with a co-worker that was in town and Luku was the perfect location as he was staying near the airport. We started with the Lettuce Wraps and Bang Bang Shrimp. The sauce on the shrimp has good heat and flavor to them. Sometimes, they aren't as spicy as I would expect at other restaurants. The meat for the lettuce wraps was very flavorful and a good portion size for 3 or 4 people. The guys were very happy with their dished of Pai Thai and Evil Noodles. I got the Braised Pork Belly Bao and Crispy Tuna Bomb. Both were delicious. For the Bomb I was expecting more or a sushi roll, but it came out like a big ball cut into 4 pieces. Different and delicious! They have a lot of seating inside. There is a huge room with a TV that could be used for meetings and another smaller private room where you could have a smaller party. They have 2 areas for outside dining and the sushi bar. Cool ambiance and seating. It's definitely a place to try!

Kennedy was lovely. We ordered the fried wontons, steamed dumplings, and Drunken Whale sushi roll. The dumplings and the wonton dipping sauce are excellent. The wontons had a good ratio of filling. They look like large tortellini’s. I didn’t love the sushi but it’s a personal preference. It had scallions and the taste was overpowering. The ingredients tasted fresh despite that. The space is larger than expected and it’s very loud. It looked like a lot of business dinners and we did not see any kids in there. They have gluten free soy sauce available and the menu specifies gluten free, vegan and vegetarian. EDIT: We went a second time and tried a few new items. The miso soup was perfect. The edamame was fine but there wasn’t enough salt and they used salt crystals so sometimes it was unpleasant to chew. We tried three desserts and realized this was where the food was most lacking. The lemon sorbet was exactly as expected. The Filipino Flan was grainy and overcooked. The Flan is supposed to be more dense than traditional Cuban flan, but it still wasn’t that good. Third was a Ying Yang and it’s supposed to be a sticky rice dessert but it was more mushy than anything. Also, not enough of the liquid. Doesn’t change our rating but wanted to update and include!

Google
Started with the lettuce wraps and spicy edamame…..delicious! Then, had the four dishes below along with miso soup and tuna roll! Everything was freshly prepared, hot (or cold) and we were all exceptionally pleased. Walked in on Friday night at 7 and able to get a table for 5 right away. Service was good as well!

Sweet waitress but I don’t know if she was new or what but we had to tell her to fill our glasses each time they were low and she was prompt in doing so after we told her. Our wait for the food was short and it was hot and delicious. We would definitely go back.

Google
Decent lunch sushi spot. The menu has plenty of options for everyone. We had the bang bang shrimp to start, and a few rolls. Would go back for more

We went to LuLu Bang Bang for the first time. We were so pleased with our server, Fernando. A refined and patient server who took the time to explain the menu and answer all of our questions. The atmosphere is light, airy and beautiful. A very comfortable place to bring family and friends, yet elevated with its organic and artistic touches. The food was delicious, generous portions, and creatively & appetizingly presented. Not only was Fernando an excellent server who added to the pleasure of our experience, but another server, Jeff, immediately picked up on our need for a water refill and quickly brought another beautiful bottle for our water service. Everything is tastefully and thoughtfully done. Grace, the Assistant General Manager came over to our table and made sure everything was just right. Don't hesitate to come and enjoy what promises to be an exceptional meal in a wonderful setting with amazing service.

Yelp
A Meetup group decided on this spot, and it seems a great place for such an event. There are high tops that can seat 8-10, as well as 4-tops and 2-tops for regular dining. Service was friendly and attentive. For the table we had fried calamari and spicy edamame. I wasn't a fan of the sauce on the edamame (and I was not alone!), but a few folks liked it. I'd have loved to have the edamame plain or salted, and the sauce on the side, since it seemed it was just tossed in the sauce after heating, rather than cooking in the sauce. Next visit I'll ask if we could get it with the sauce on the side. The calamari was fantastic. I ordered several cocktails over the evening, deferring to the waitress who steered me well after asking about my preferences. The sushi I ordered was presented nicely, and tasted just as amazing. Everyone in the group felt the same about their food. Loads of take away containers, and no one leaving anything on their plates. (Except some of those edamame pods!)

Yelp
I recently visited Lulu Bang Bang on a Friday night with a couple of friends. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Heads up: the front lot looks cramped, but there's extra parking around the building. The space is super bright and open with lots of windows, high ceilings, and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. The menu is extensive--I got the Evil Noodles with sliced steak, veggies, and wide rice noodles. The portion was huge (definitely enough for two meals), and it had a solid kick of heat, but the sweetness from the chili sauce was a little too strong for me. Service was friendly but pretty slow throughout the night--probably due to the Friday night rush. I'd come back to try more dishes, but maybe on a less busy night for a smoother experience.

Yelp
Food was delicious. I order the lamb. I thought it was going to be bigger but flavor made up for it. I also ordered the vegetable dumplings. My table didn't like them. Thankfully my server took it off my bill. The place is so clean and well designed. I came in jeans and a tee and felt under dressed

Yelp
We're out-of-towners and this was a great choice. Everything coming out of the kitchen was fresh. Our service was excellent as well. Wish we had this restaurant in the Houston area!

Yelp
Please please go to your local Asian owned restaurants instead! Any "pan-Asian" or "fusion" places often equal less authentic and higher priced dishes. This was unfortunately my experience coming to LuluBangBang. The wings from the specials menu were the most disappointing dish. Absolutely no flavor other than a slight char/burn from being cooked. Even the chicken inside was slightly dry. The pad see ew was okay tasting, but did not taste anything like authentic pad see ew that you can get from Thai restaurants. The soup dumplings were very average. Edible, but did not come as promised as there was no soup at all within the dumpling. They were fine tasting, but definitely should not be advertised as soup dumplings. Lastly, this restaurant is VERY overpriced. If you want to pay for an ambiance and modern looking restaurant, you got it. But note that you will NOT be getting authentic dishes nor very large portion sizes for what you're paying. There are so many amazing local and authentic Asian restaurants around the Triangle. I would urge people to support these businesses to explore delicious food and new cultures in a way that going to a "pan Asian" restaurant will not give you.

Yelp
We enjoyed a yummy dinner here. I had the Pad Thai with tofu and an avocado roll, and my boyfriend enjoyed the bento box. The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice.
google avatar

Lila L.

Yelp
Sushi was so incredible! SO high quality. The Rainbow Roll was an amazing deal for the quality! So much fish and even the imitation crab was great (not usually a huge fan of imitation crab).

Georgia M.

Yelp
I ordered takeout. California roll and bang bang shrimp. Really tasty. No wonder the restaurant was so full. I cannot wait to go back. 10 large shrimp were totally worth the price. Sushi was fresh and tasty
google avatar

Yelp
It was just OK. The food descriptions looked much better than they tasted. I ordered the lettuce wraps, they were ok. Missing heat and salt. I ordered the whale roll (something like that, supposed to be spicy), it was ok. I ordered the spicey green papaya salad with shrimp, but it was lacking salt and spicy. My wife ordered the Mongolian beef, ate half, brought it home, and said that I could have it after adding a bunch of spices and sriracha, because it was mainly just sweet. I guess some people think it is good or convenient, but I went there to catch up with a friend, and the building acoustics are terrible. You have to yell and lean over to hear if you are in the main dining area. Sooooo. It was OK. The only thing that was awesome was our server, Kennedy.

Yelp
I came here because I've been trying to find a decently priced sushi spot and this place wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I got the rainbow roll and the bluefin bangbang; the rolls were both very filling, constructed well, and had good portions of fish on them. My partner got the pad see ew and was surprised to find a skewer in his food. I went back to look at the picture I took of his plate before he dug in and sure enough it was slightly poking out in the bowl. We also tried the bang bang shrimp and the fried chicken bao. I really enjoyed the fried chicken boa and would recommend getting this app. The interior is nice and it's a great ambiance for a social dinner. The waitress was nice and I liked that we got our own bottle of water to serve ourselves. I don't think I would go back but the restaurant has nice vibes.

Yelp
Was so excited to see them open on Mother's Day for brunch because we've been dying to try for a weekend lunch! Delicious pad thai, LOVED the pineapple vodka special, great chicken satay. Indoor/outdoor seating, easy parking.

Yelp
I was in town for a business trip and wanted to try a new restaurant. The kind hostess was so friendly. However there was a misunderstanding on her part regarding a process of the restaurant. I was hesitant to believe it was but since she worked here I took her word for it . I paid $40 for drink and my food plus tip . 5 min later she comes back and says sorry I made a mistake we don't serve alcohol to go . I said okay no problem. May I just get a refund ? She said you could order something else for the same amount . Which was $13 . It was just me so I didn't need all of that food . Keep in mind I had already left a tip . I wasn't just about to throw money away literally $10 . The one manager seemed annoyed about everything . I get it people make mistakes but it's up to you as a manager to make the situation right . After waiting 30 plus minutes another manager came over who was extremely apologetic and nice and gave me a refund and my soft drinks for free . I still left my tip because I'm not that type of person. Now on to my food lol It was okay . My beef was not well done it was actually raw most of the pieces . So I picked around and ate the mushrooms with the rice and sauce . The Mongolian beef had wayyyy too much green onions . It actually overpowered the dish . I would definitely give them another try but I would rather dine in . The ambience is pretty nice inside

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and so did my friends. We enjoyed cocktails and cocktails (Pom Pom), evil noodles, Mongolian beef, and chicken lomein. The prices were not bad at all! Great value for the portions. The staff was super friendly and help fik suggestions. The ambiance is perfect for date night, girls night, or a solo date. They have a full bar and a private dining space as well. Plenty of parking in the area too. I will definitely return to try other menu items.

Yelp
My wife and I visited this evening on a random Wednesday. Parking was atrocious! The restaurant is situated next to another and the parking lots appear ample, but they were not. We drove around for 10 minutes and ended up parking across the street, which is a major hwy with no crosswalk. The place was packed, loud, and appeared to be extremely popular with many of the local large businesses in the area. Fortunately we were seated immediately. Our waitress was outstanding! I wish I got her name to give her a shout out. She is the primary reason for a higher rating. The food was solid. Nothing great, but nothing bad. I love tempura and I love calamari, but I did not like the tempura calamari. The sashimi was really good, but the rolls were average. The prices are fair. We would return, but with as many better options in the area it won't be often.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Food and service is always quick. Staff is extremely nice and knowledgeable about the menu items. Sushi is on the pricier side, but you do get what you pay for. Only downside is some of the better menu items were changed/removed (tonkotsu ramen and chicken satay). Make sure have a reservation if you are not sitting at the bar.
google avatar

Atina A.

Yelp
Its so cute in this restaurant. The food was delicious. I ordered the frie chicken bao as a starter, and Asian BBQ sticky ribs. I also tried my friends Mongolian beef and the evil noodles and loved both dishes. I will definitely visit this place again. The service was great as well.

Scott G.

Yelp
Seated at the bar, my favorite seat with my favorite Barista, Ashe! Service as always on point! Food as always perfectly prepared and presented! kitchen and sushi bar are always amazing! Ashe "mixologizes" the greatest spicy bloody marys on earth!! myself and my friends from work are all regulars, and we love LuLu!! Definitely go check them out and Give our girl a shout!
google avatar

Yelp
If I could give this review infinite stars, I would! My husband and I came here on a whim looking for "noodle dishes". Upon arrival we were kindly greeted into the most fun atmosphere. The decor and vibe were cozy yet welcoming. For the food, don't get me started. I got the pad see ew and my husband got the evil noodles, and they were both incredible! Flavorful, fresh and overall a perfect portion. We May live 40 minutes away but we will DEFF be back!
google avatar

Kristin U.

Yelp
Great place for a drink and bite. Loved my choice "Fruit of Hope", an amazing blend of gin, St Germain, pomegranate and ginger beer. Sampled the wontons, steamed dumplings and drunken noodles, all excellent, yet the menu has offers so much more. I would definitely come back here, since there are loads of Asian inspired options for everyone. Bonus for having outdoor seating, perfect on a warm September evening.
google avatar

Aiden A.

Yelp
Vegetarians can usually find tofu as a protein at Asian restaurants. I assumed this when I went out with a group of friends for dinner. "I'll have the whatever stir fry with tofu" wasn't an option. Appetizer dumplings were my dinner, and they were just okay. Service was... reasonable, though!

Linda M.

Yelp
This was one of the BEST pan-Asian restaurants we have visited. Food was well above par. So tasty! Drinks were well balanced. Staff was nice and mindful of our service dog. Only complaint was that the food took a long time. Apparently some kitchen miscommunication. BUT the manager came out to the table, twice, apologies and made an adjustment to the bill (we didn't even ask!). Overall I would make this a top place for us in the triangle.

Yelp
Came here with my day on New Year's Eve. The food was absolutely amazing. We sat up at the sushi bar, so we're able to see all the different dishes coming out of the kitchen. Everything that left the kitchen was beautifully prepared and looked amazing to eat. We ordered some vegetarian wontons for the cilantro relish which was off the chain delicious we also ordered the bluefin sushi roll and the red curry Thai vegetarian dish. Everything we ate was incredible service was great. The facility is impeccably clean very healthy food options will definitely be coming back here again.

Yelp
We had a team dinner in a private room and Kenny was a pleasure to work with in the planning. The restaurant and bar and outdoor area was lively and full on a Thursday night. We had an assortment of appetizers and they are served on lazy Susan tables which make it fun for groups to share. The sushi is very fresh, scallion pancakes amazing, and I also enjoyed the chicken lettuce wraps. For an entree, I loved the chicken pad thai. The presentation of the food is beautiful and service was excellent. The wine list is also very good and the bar serves mixed drinks. Thank you and I highly recommend for a fun, relaxed and delicious meal.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
The food is delicious and service impeccable. I usually sit at the bar, however. Favorite dishes: BBQ chicken fried rice. You can ask for it with no spice or mildly spicy; Incredible flavor profile! Chicken is tender and sausage tasty. Sake Poke Bowl on white rice. My go to dish for health and great flavor. Mongolian Beef! Absolutely delicious
google avatar

Tara W.

Yelp
Miso and sushi roll was delicious! The bar staff was kind to help with our take out order so we could sit and chill while stressed about getting back to our hotel in a crazy ice and snowstorm. The tables and lighting and cleanliness were the best. It felt like a perfect decompression food spot.
google avatar

Meg L.

Yelp
This place is in a good location and cute ambiance. When we arrived without a reservation, we were quickly seated as there was plenty of open spaces. Service was slow and the food was okay. The portion sizes are small and it was an interesting combination of Asian fusion and sushi.
google avatar

Fredrika E.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal, staff was awesome and ambience was perfect!! Will definitely go back and if you haven't tried them....GO!!!

Frank G.

Yelp
Great food, service, and ambiance. The chicken lettuce wrap is delicious and freshly done over here.

Todd L.

Yelp
Well I walked in (granted in tee shirt and shorts) and host and hostess were kind enough. I went to sit at the bar and was greeted by the bartender after a few minutes (she was in the back stocking beer). Host brought menu over and I was served water. Unsure of what i was going to drink, the bartender reported she would be back. As I perused the drink and food menus, a male bartender arrived and never once asked me if I needed anything. The female bartender returned and did not ask me again if I needed anything. I sat there for over 10 minutes giving them a chance to assist me. NOTHING! Granted there were 4 other people at the bar that were at least checked in on. And there were probably 4 tables total with other staff standing around (some behind the bar). But no one acknowledged me.

Rodney S.

Yelp
Edamame was well prepared with a unique and flavorful. Generous portion. Drink was delicious and custom made.
google avatar

Lindsay H.

Yelp
Five stars for the best Mongolian beef I have ever had. Absolutely perfect and delicious. Friendly and attentive staff. Kind of loud inside unfortunately but overall great.

Loveli S.

Yelp
This place was disgusting. Not one thing on the menu is fresh. Everything is old and frozen. It's not even good frozen food. The crab wontons were literally grey in the middle. The spring rolls were gravy brown. Calamari tasted like cardboard. It's an Asian inspired restaurant without any Asians cooking. That should tell you something. The kimchi shrimp friend rice was the same color as the crab wontons. a giant bowl of dark brown rice and frozen, farm raised, rubbery shrimp.

Qa'Nyah S.

Yelp
Food- 8.5/10 The sushi was great, I got a rice bowl as well, it could've used a lil more rice but it was still really good. Service- 9/10 We were seated quickly and our server was nice, she did well with us while serving 4 other tables Ambiance- The decor was beautiful!! It's 4 paintings hanging above the kitchen that I absolutely loved! Ambiance definitely 10/10
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
Have driven past this place multiple times and finally decided to try it out for date night! We didn't have reservations but were still seated promptly on a Friday evening which was nice. Decided to start with the Brussels sprouts which were so good !!!! I had the pad Thai which was not as spicy in flavor but did taste very fresh. We also got the sushi that was topped with sweet potato crisps which was a very nice touch. Definitely will come back again !

Ashia J.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anybody. Although our waitress was excellent, the food was not good. I wanted to take my boyfriend out for Father's Day and wanted to try a restaurant we hadn't been to before. We ordered bang bang shrimp and calamari as an appetizer. The shrimp was drowning in sauce so that made it soggy. The calamari was not fried enough so it wasn't crispy. I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp. While the shrimp was seasoned, the noodles and sauce were bland. My boyfriend got the black bass which was fried. It was also bland and the fish had a metallic taste to it. There's better authentic Asian places in the area. For the price I paid I expected better food. I would never go here again.
google avatar

Anne B.

Yelp
The staff accommodated our group of 10+ and gave us a private room. All of the staff were very nice and food was delicious.
google avatar

Vicki L.

Yelp
Tasty green beans. Nicely presented dishes. Full bar. Our table of four enjoyed multiple shared dishes. Friendly service.

Greg R.

Yelp
We have been going to LLBB for a couple of years and have enjoyed the food and service. Tonight however was different, the service at the bar was poor at best, my food was ok but my wife had the pork belly bao and there was little to no meat on the pork belly, one piece was just a lump of fat and was inedible. I had to use the restroom before we left and it was disgusting, it was filthy and I don't think it had been cleaned for a while. It is sad because we have had many a great night at LLBB but I don't think we will go back any time in the near future.
google avatar

Cory N.

Yelp
I did not have an urge to wear yoga pants or hammer a nail. I wanted to eat at LuluBangBang. I'm sure glad I did. I sat at the bar and had a fantastic, friendly bartender who was accommodating and she was happy to chat. There are some really great top shelf options here. I started with Shishito peppers, then a bluefin bang bang roll, and finally the Korean BBQ entree. Each dish was incredibly tasty. Although this place isn't cheap, it's worth every penny. I will definitely go back. Remember to tip well and hang with the bartender.
google avatar

Anna F.

Yelp
Nice décor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had the seared tuna salad. The tuna was fresh and the flavors were good. I would have enjoyed a little seasoning on the tuna.
google avatar

Sumner T.

Yelp
Went here for lunch and it was fantastic. The sushi is some of the best sushi around. This is great place for lunch and dinner. Lots of seating options and menu has a lot of choices. Serves is very professional and upscale but pricing is not.

Tj K.

Yelp
Portion size is more than fair for what you pay. Good sushi and the entrees we had were good. Outdoor seating area is a nice alternative

B T.

Yelp
Food is delicious! Very tasty and fresh. I ordered the Kung Pao rice bowl with shrimp and the lumpia rolls. Service was excellent!

Michael L.

Yelp
The food is very good and the interior of the place is very nice. Unfortunately, the service is terrible. The wait staff did absolutely everything wrong from getting the appetizers out, getting the drinks served, placing the orders correctly, and preparing the checks accurately. Seriously, everything.
google avatar

Krys L.

Yelp
We arrived 45 minutes before closing. We knew what closing time was and we planned on coming in for a drink and one appetizer (we have worked in the industry so understand when people just want to leave). We saw a party of at least 9 turned away as we came in. We asked to sit at the bar and the hostess asked if we had a reservation. The place was half empty on a Friday night. We said no and she still turned us away. So we left. I can't imagine how much money she's turning away. A party of 9 and ourselves all in 15 min. As a business owner I'd be embarrassed and it show the laziness of your staff. Are you trying to make money or just piss off the community?
google avatar

Renee A.

Yelp
I was out of town and looking for a quick dinner to grab that was close to my hotel. Asian is my favorite cuisine so this one popped up in my search. I am so glad I decided to stop by. First of all, the place was absolutely beautiful. I decided to sit at the bar and have a drink while I waited for my to go order. The bartender was so attentive and helpful. I got the summer white sangria and it was absolutely delicious! For dinner, I ordered the Mongolian beef and crab Rangoon. Both were pretty good. Not the best I've had but still very good. I would go back and recommend to others!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to get delicious pan-Asian food is Lu Lu Bang Bang in RTP. The atmosphere and beautiful and the service is on point. I was thrilled to introduce my buddies to this swanky spot to try out some of my favorite dishes on the menu including: - -soy ginger chicken wings - -naan with cilantro chutney - -chicken satay - -Thai toast with sweet shrimp mousse, ginger glaze, and Thai herbs - -Tandoori rack of lamb in a yellow curry - -Beijing style char grilled skirt steak with black garlic-wok demi glacé, trumpet mushrooms, and broccolini (my favorite) - -chicken pad Thai - - and lots of tasty sushi and delicious drinks Huge thanks to my amazing friends for your support and sharing in that memorable night *Make sure to check out Lu Lu bang bang soon

Yelp
Saw this location as we were driving by and decided to try it for lunch. The ambiance was very nice, beautiful interior, spacious, and variety of seating. The service was great! Very attentive staff and food came quick and hot. We weren't too impressed by the food or the prices! Definitely on the higher side compared to other sushi/or pan Asian restaurants in the area. The scallion pancake was average, minimally seasoned, and got very tough and chewy after a few minutes. The Thai toast was good, a bit oily but overall good flavors. We had the crunch salmon roll, and did not like it at all. It was not very crunchy, no rice (it was not mentioned in the description) and salmon ended up being over cooked since it's deep fried. And there were only 6 pieces! The ponzu sauce had a very fishy taste. Our little one had the lomein from the kids menu, simple lomein just noodles and eggs. But once again, lacking flavor. Just seemed like it had some sweet soy sauce. We had a potato crunch roll for takeout and had it when we got home, which redeemed our overall experience. Good flavors. And filling. Only concern again was the price. Not sure if it's a place I'd like to visit again, with so many great spots in the area.
