Paris’s Most Exciting Restaurants Are in Belleville | Eater

"Opened in 2022 by Colombian chef Carlos Peñarredonda and Danish chef Mads Christensen, this colorful, casual restaurant delivers boldly spiced, Asian-inspired plates such as cheddar-and-kimchi croquettes with jalapeño-lime mayo, claypot red curry chicken, and fish-sauce–glazed barbecued octopus, signaling a modern homage to the area's Asian culinary heritage." - Vivian Song

The service was excellent. Kelani (the waiter) was extremely welcoming, kind, pleasant, and attentive. The restaurant was clean and presentable. I do recommend LuLuBangBamg I went with the Mr. Gandhi basil fried rice and added salmon. This entree was loaded with vegetables and bursting with flavors. The eggplant in this was so good. Not a vegetable I'd typically go for but it was still all love. The temperature of my entree was PERFECT! Slight mess up: The salmon was not medium well as ordered. A bit overcooked. Perhaps the wok was too hot. The wins: Overall, I still really enjoyed the dish and cleaned my plate. Service and flavors here didn't miss a beat.

Came in for lunch and ordered the devil noodles, small tuna rolls, and bao buns. My server Noah was extremely helpful in making a decision on what to order. The kimchi was excellent on the bao buns. My devil noodles came out piping hot and with just enough spice to get the heat, but still taste the food. I'll definitely be back

We had dinner at 7:30pm on a Thursday, there were only a few other tables occupied. Our server, Erica, was awesome, super friendly, and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered miso soup, jalapeño hamachi, korean potatoes, mongolian beef, rainbow roll, and the teriyaki steak bento box. Everything was delicious! We will definitely be back

We return to this location each time we visit the area. Friendly, attentive staff and excellent service! I love the Evil Noodles, but decided to try something different. The steak was absolutely amazing. It was cooked to internal temperature just as I ordered, and the glaze was perfect. However, be aware of the small amount of peanuts 🥜 in the topping. This dish was loaded with yummy veggies that complemented the steak. Hubby had chicken curry. He enjoyed it, but he wished he had a little more chicken.

My niece posted pics of food and drinks in her Snap that looked really good. She was at Lulu, so I added the place to my list. Made dinner plans with a co-worker that was in town and Luku was the perfect location as he was staying near the airport. We started with the Lettuce Wraps and Bang Bang Shrimp. The sauce on the shrimp has good heat and flavor to them. Sometimes, they aren't as spicy as I would expect at other restaurants. The meat for the lettuce wraps was very flavorful and a good portion size for 3 or 4 people. The guys were very happy with their dished of Pai Thai and Evil Noodles. I got the Braised Pork Belly Bao and Crispy Tuna Bomb. Both were delicious. For the Bomb I was expecting more or a sushi roll, but it came out like a big ball cut into 4 pieces. Different and delicious! They have a lot of seating inside. There is a huge room with a TV that could be used for meetings and another smaller private room where you could have a smaller party. They have 2 areas for outside dining and the sushi bar. Cool ambiance and seating. It's definitely a place to try!

Google
Great staff, family friendly ambience. Tried the sichuan chicken wontons which were great! Also ordered the ultra fancy roll “THE CHRG” with gold flakes and all… quite disappointed. The roll is probably a good example of a vision to have the complexity of crunch and cream together… but the execution was subpar! The cream cheese and spicy mayo on this roll take away all the joy and flavor the rest of the ingredients offer. Make this roll less cheesy :) go for non cream based spices, perhaps some yuzu and this will shine!

Google
Stumbled upon this place one day for lunch and was blown away. First - the wine selection is divine! I ordered a lychee martini- delicious, but can’t wait to be come back for a wine night special! Also I’m a really big fan of drunken noodle and this rendition is amazing. Cant wait to try more on the menu!!

Edward L.

Google
Handsome contemporary decor yet still fairly casual. Prompt attentive service. One of us had drunken noodles -- lots of ingredients all prepared with just the right texture especially the very wide noodles. Slippery yumminess perfection. The other had bbq chicken fried rice -- complex flavors also prepared with perfect textures and a nice egg on top We'll be back...

Yelp
I walked into this restaurant, but based on how busy they were, I would definitely recommend a reservation. We sat at the bar. The food was fresh. It was really good! I had a sushi platter, which I would recommend to anyone. We could see the kitchen so we saw a lot of the food come out and I would pretty much try anything on the menu. I was traveling in for work, but I would definitely stop by this restaurant again if I had the opportunity.

Yelp
I'm on town for work and noticed this spot had a lot of great reviews and was less than a half mile from me, so hopped in the car and went by to get something to-go. The atmosphere inside is great. Very modern and clean. They have a large bar area you can sit at. Ther service is super friendly there. Everyone was nice and willing to help. For the food, I seen where everyone was saying the Fried Chicken Bao was some of the best they've ever had...So you already know I had to hit that up. I also opted for the Rainbow Roll sushi. I got back to the hotel and dug in. I absolutely agree the Bao here is the best I've had. Crispy chicken, fresh cabbage and just full of flavor. The rainbow roll was fantastic as well. For the price, you really can't beat it!

Yelp
This is a beautiful and really big restaurant that I knew was going to be good just by seeing the amount of people eating here for lunch at 12 on a Monday. The parking lot in the front was full but thankfully it wraps around the building. The inside is nice and spacious with different kinds of booths and seating areas. Our server and the hostess were both extremely friendly and helpful while looking through the menu. The prices are fair and the food came out in good timing. The presentation of the food was also beautiful. We were able to be in and out within 40 minutes. We got the spring rolls, fried chicken bao (ordered from all the reviews about it), evil noodles, and kung pao chicken (asked for it to be less spicy). The fried chicken boa buns were as great as everyone said- the bao was so soft and chicken was so good that it didn't even need all the toppings in it. The steak in the evil noodles was so good that it made me want to try the mongolian beef dish. The noodles were great too. I would just say the amount of peppers and carrots it contained filled a bowl up and after removing a lot of the veggies I didn't have much noodles. It made it feel like too many filler veggies that were clouding the great noodles. I didn't find it to be spicy either. The kung pao chicken dish was good and we got it with fried rice instead of jasmine. The fried rice could've used a bit more flavor but overall the dish was good!

Yelp
We came to LuluBangBang on a Friday evening. I made reservations prior to the day but it didn't seem like they were necessary. Multiple people were dining in but it wasn't overly packed. There is a full service bar and multiple seats in the business. There is also a private dining area available. We were initially seated right away in a tight corner by the hostess. We asked our server if we could move to another table nearby. Our server Kelani was very helpful, friendly, and attentive. I ordered the bang bang shrimp for an appetizer. The shrimp was good. I got the red Thai curry dish for my entree. This dish is very flavorful, served hot, and I enjoyed it. My only complaint about this dish was that the green peppers in it were really big. I was given a small bowl of rice with my large bowl of the Thai curry. I had leftovers and asked if there would be a charge for more rice and I was told yes.

Yelp
We finally tried this place last night and we are hooked. The host, Omar, was so incredibly sweet and helpful and we had no issues being seated as it was quite crowded. Our server, Tracy, was so friendly. She was also a lot of fun as she went over the extensive menu and all the great options for both food and drinks. We decided on the evil noodles, mango tuna crisp roll, and a dragon roll. I am very particular about my eel and this was by far the tastiest dragon roll I have ever eaten (and I have eaten a lot). The evil noodles were delicious and spicy but not too spicy that you couldn't enjoy the delicious flavor. Can't wait to go back. Next time we will save room for dessert because those options looked amazing as well.

Yelp
We had a lot of food this night because it was my first time and I could not decide what I wanted to try. We started with the crispy fried chicken bao (3 bao included), steamed dumplings (5 included), and the crispy tuna bomb. They were all fantastic. The crispy fried chicken bao was the most delicious bao I've ever had in my life. It was seasoned well, it was moist, the sauce was delicious. Amazing. I could have only had that fried chicken bao and enjoyed my meal for the night. The steamed dumplings were good so definitely worth a try. The crispy tuna bomb was delicious and I don't even eat tuna really. I highly recommend it. The yellow curry dish was excellent, even with the cashew in it. Very filling and delicious. I loved most of the food we had here. My one complaint was the Yaki Udon. The dish should be renamed "Hunting for Udon". It was like they didn't have enough noodles to provide so they filled the dish with pieces of chicken, tons of carrots and bean sprouts so you'd be distracted by the fact that you couldn't really find the udon. I'd never get this dish again. Our waiters were also amazing and helpful and funny. The restaurant was offering half-price bottles of wine as well which was great after a long week. I cannot wait to go back to this restaurant. The restaurant was pretty full but it's a huge location so they're bound to find seating for you.

Yelp
Food was very good. Prices are a little high but overall good. This is the second time I've been and would recommend the bang bag shrimp. There was 4 of us and we each ordered two rolls which came on one big boat. It was a little confusing what was what and they had to get a sushi chef to tell us which roll was what vs just plating them for each person.

Yelp
A cute spot with a variety of Asian dishes, a solid drink menu, spacious seating and good service. I started with the miso soup. It was pretty good, packed with tofu and seaweed. For my main, I had the evil noddles with chicken as an extra protein. The noddles were good! They weren't that spicy and the chili sauce helped balanced everything out. It was a pretty decent size portion that you could split it with someone if you wanted. Everything came out fairly quick. The waitstaff was helpful with recommendations and checked on us frequently. They all help out so you don't have just one server.

Yelp
Plenty of parking, affordable prices, a unique menu and beautiful vibes! We had lunch here and everything was perfect. We had sushi and a rice bowl. When my bowl arrived it didn't look good at all. I am happy I decided to taste it. It wasn't bad at all! Our waiter seemed a little annoyed but it didn't bother us. We understand that people go through shit. We will return to try other menu items!

Yelp
Okay, so I've been to this place twice now, and let me just say, the food is totally not worth the hype. The ambiance is seriously good it's a fantastic spot to sit, chill, and chat with friends or family. But honestly? The food is just mediocre. We went recently with our teen. She ordered the Bao Bao Bun, I got the Mr. Gandhi Fried Rice (no idea what's in that name, by the way), and my partner chose the yellow curry. The meals were a real mixed bag. My partner cleaned his plate of the yellow curry, which means it must be good he's a super picky eater. my teen liked Bao, though my fried rice was a huge letdown. It was covered in so many RAW scallions as a garnish, it was just too much and made the whole thing unappetizing. If they made those little guys crispy and seasoned them, it would be so much better. For appetizers and drinks, we ordered avocado and cucumber rolls. The Avocado Rolls were Awesome! Cucumber rolls were not, Next time, I'm definitely getting a double order of those and skipping the cucumber. The Purple Hawaii mocktail was great, but the Pom Pom was flat (needed more sugar and tanginess). The hot sake was just okay. I had better Sake before Oh, and a quick complaint: the spice tray was missing from the table, so no chili powder for us! I cannot imagine an asian place without those cute spice tray to pick from Our server was courteous and attentive! Liked her I will give it a third try before excluding from my goto place... please lulu bang read this review, I want to like u all

Yelp
I recently visited Lulu Bang Bang on a Friday night with a couple of friends. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Heads up: the front lot looks cramped, but there's extra parking around the building. The space is super bright and open with lots of windows, high ceilings, and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. The menu is extensive--I got the Evil Noodles with sliced steak, veggies, and wide rice noodles. The portion was huge (definitely enough for two meals), and it had a solid kick of heat, but the sweetness from the chili sauce was a little too strong for me. Service was friendly but pretty slow throughout the night--probably due to the Friday night rush. I'd come back to try more dishes, but maybe on a less busy night for a smoother experience.

Yelp
Stopped in to LuluBangBang for weekday lunch with my husband. It was a lively atmosphere with the work-lunch crowd. We ordered Thai tea to start, and the wonton soup, which was a very large portion for sharing with plenty of pork belly and wontons! We also tried the crispy tuna bombs which were new to us, and absolutely delicious! We ordered the Mongolian beef, and it was much better than we expected. One of the best menus and selections in Raleigh, with something for everyone. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered carry out so I'm commenting mostly on the food! The sushi was just okay. It wasn't the worst sushi I've had for sure but it overall wasn't my favorite. It could've been my choice of rolls so I'll definitely try it again and get something else. The bang bang shrimp were great! Overall it was very good, I'll try it again!

Yelp
I've been here twice now, and both times I walked away feeling pretty impressed by how fun and lively the place feels. The service was friendly and on point, and the whole vibe makes you want to sit back and enjoy yourself. The only thing that didn't quite win me over was the food. It wasn't bad, just not as memorable as everything else. Still, the energy and the staff make it worth a visit.
google avatar

Yelp
A Meetup group decided on this spot, and it seems a great place for such an event. There are high tops that can seat 8-10, as well as 4-tops and 2-tops for regular dining. Service was friendly and attentive. For the table we had fried calamari and spicy edamame. I wasn't a fan of the sauce on the edamame (and I was not alone!), but a few folks liked it. I'd have loved to have the edamame plain or salted, and the sauce on the side, since it seemed it was just tossed in the sauce after heating, rather than cooking in the sauce. Next visit I'll ask if we could get it with the sauce on the side. The calamari was fantastic. I ordered several cocktails over the evening, deferring to the waitress who steered me well after asking about my preferences. The sushi I ordered was presented nicely, and tasted just as amazing. Everyone in the group felt the same about their food. Loads of take away containers, and no one leaving anything on their plates. (Except some of those edamame pods!)
google avatar

Yen S.

Yelp
Service was excellent, but the food was too salty. We ordered the Mongolian beef and some sushi; the sushi was good, but the ginger was excessively salty, which was surprising. The ambiance was very nice.

Yelp
Please please go to your local Asian owned restaurants instead! Any "pan-Asian" or "fusion" places often equal less authentic and higher priced dishes. This was unfortunately my experience coming to LuluBangBang. The wings from the specials menu were the most disappointing dish. Absolutely no flavor other than a slight char/burn from being cooked. Even the chicken inside was slightly dry. The pad see ew was okay tasting, but did not taste anything like authentic pad see ew that you can get from Thai restaurants. The soup dumplings were very average. Edible, but did not come as promised as there was no soup at all within the dumpling. They were fine tasting, but definitely should not be advertised as soup dumplings. Lastly, this restaurant is VERY overpriced. If you want to pay for an ambiance and modern looking restaurant, you got it. But note that you will NOT be getting authentic dishes nor very large portion sizes for what you're paying. There are so many amazing local and authentic Asian restaurants around the Triangle. I would urge people to support these businesses to explore delicious food and new cultures in a way that going to a "pan Asian" restaurant will not give you.

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch with coworkers. We started out with Chicken Wontons (steamed) and Chicken Satay. Both were good. For lunch I had the Kim Bap Korean Veggie sushi. It was just ok, there are better veggie rolls out there.
google avatar

Yelp
We enjoyed a yummy dinner here. I had the Pad Thai with tofu and an avocado roll, and my boyfriend enjoyed the bento box. The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice.

Yelp
First time visiting from out of town so chose a place close to the hotel. The menu was filled with a great selection of food. Atmosphere was great luckily we got there when we did because a Yelp event was going on and it got pretty busy. Our waitress was very nice, attentive, and never kept us waiting. Loved all the food we tried.
google avatar

Angee R.

Yelp
Food was delicious. I order the lamb. I thought it was going to be bigger but flavor made up for it. I also ordered the vegetable dumplings. My table didn't like them. Thankfully my server took it off my bill. The place is so clean and well designed. I came in jeans and a tee and felt under dressed
google avatar

Blair K.

Yelp
It was just OK. The food descriptions looked much better than they tasted. I ordered the lettuce wraps, they were ok. Missing heat and salt. I ordered the whale roll (something like that, supposed to be spicy), it was ok. I ordered the spicey green papaya salad with shrimp, but it was lacking salt and spicy. My wife ordered the Mongolian beef, ate half, brought it home, and said that I could have it after adding a bunch of spices and sriracha, because it was mainly just sweet. I guess some people think it is good or convenient, but I went there to catch up with a friend, and the building acoustics are terrible. You have to yell and lean over to hear if you are in the main dining area. Sooooo. It was OK. The only thing that was awesome was our server, Kennedy.
google avatar

Gabrielle N.

Yelp
I came here because I've been trying to find a decently priced sushi spot and this place wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I got the rainbow roll and the bluefin bangbang; the rolls were both very filling, constructed well, and had good portions of fish on them. My partner got the pad see ew and was surprised to find a skewer in his food. I went back to look at the picture I took of his plate before he dug in and sure enough it was slightly poking out in the bowl. We also tried the bang bang shrimp and the fried chicken bao. I really enjoyed the fried chicken boa and would recommend getting this app. The interior is nice and it's a great ambiance for a social dinner. The waitress was nice and I liked that we got our own bottle of water to serve ourselves. I don't think I would go back but the restaurant has nice vibes.

Yelp
We're out-of-towners and this was a great choice. Everything coming out of the kitchen was fresh. Our service was excellent as well. Wish we had this restaurant in the Houston area!

Yelp
The food was excellent. The service was super friendly. I enjoyed the bang-bang shrimp and the curry the most. The sushi was also excellent.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and so did my friends. We enjoyed cocktails and cocktails (Pom Pom), evil noodles, Mongolian beef, and chicken lomein. The prices were not bad at all! Great value for the portions. The staff was super friendly and help fik suggestions. The ambiance is perfect for date night, girls night, or a solo date. They have a full bar and a private dining space as well. Plenty of parking in the area too. I will definitely return to try other menu items.

Yelp
I was in town for a business trip and wanted to try a new restaurant. The kind hostess was so friendly. However there was a misunderstanding on her part regarding a process of the restaurant. I was hesitant to believe it was but since she worked here I took her word for it . I paid $40 for drink and my food plus tip . 5 min later she comes back and says sorry I made a mistake we don't serve alcohol to go . I said okay no problem. May I just get a refund ? She said you could order something else for the same amount . Which was $13 . It was just me so I didn't need all of that food . Keep in mind I had already left a tip . I wasn't just about to throw money away literally $10 . The one manager seemed annoyed about everything . I get it people make mistakes but it's up to you as a manager to make the situation right . After waiting 30 plus minutes another manager came over who was extremely apologetic and nice and gave me a refund and my soft drinks for free . I still left my tip because I'm not that type of person. Now on to my food lol It was okay . My beef was not well done it was actually raw most of the pieces . So I picked around and ate the mushrooms with the rice and sauce . The Mongolian beef had wayyyy too much green onions . It actually overpowered the dish . I would definitely give them another try but I would rather dine in . The ambience is pretty nice inside

Yelp
My wife and I visited this evening on a random Wednesday. Parking was atrocious! The restaurant is situated next to another and the parking lots appear ample, but they were not. We drove around for 10 minutes and ended up parking across the street, which is a major hwy with no crosswalk. The place was packed, loud, and appeared to be extremely popular with many of the local large businesses in the area. Fortunately we were seated immediately. Our waitress was outstanding! I wish I got her name to give her a shout out. She is the primary reason for a higher rating. The food was solid. Nothing great, but nothing bad. I love tempura and I love calamari, but I did not like the tempura calamari. The sashimi was really good, but the rolls were average. The prices are fair. We would return, but with as many better options in the area it won't be often.

Yelp
This space was a BANG literally! I enjoyed the service and the food! The vegetable curry and sushi were amazing!!!

Yelp
Was so excited to see them open on Mother's Day for brunch because we've been dying to try for a weekend lunch! Delicious pad thai, LOVED the pineapple vodka special, great chicken satay. Indoor/outdoor seating, easy parking.

Yelp
Great place for a drink and bite. Loved my choice "Fruit of Hope", an amazing blend of gin, St Germain, pomegranate and ginger beer. Sampled the wontons, steamed dumplings and drunken noodles, all excellent, yet the menu has offers so much more. I would definitely come back here, since there are loads of Asian inspired options for everyone. Bonus for having outdoor seating, perfect on a warm September evening.

Johnny M.

Yelp
Great, love the food atmosphere and music channel. Great recommendations from the server. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
If I could give this review infinite stars, I would! My husband and I came here on a whim looking for "noodle dishes". Upon arrival we were kindly greeted into the most fun atmosphere. The decor and vibe were cozy yet welcoming. For the food, don't get me started. I got the pad see ew and my husband got the evil noodles, and they were both incredible! Flavorful, fresh and overall a perfect portion. We May live 40 minutes away but we will DEFF be back!

Yelp
Came here with my day on New Year's Eve. The food was absolutely amazing. We sat up at the sushi bar, so we're able to see all the different dishes coming out of the kitchen. Everything that left the kitchen was beautifully prepared and looked amazing to eat. We ordered some vegetarian wontons for the cilantro relish which was off the chain delicious we also ordered the bluefin sushi roll and the red curry Thai vegetarian dish. Everything we ate was incredible service was great. The facility is impeccably clean very healthy food options will definitely be coming back here again.

Yelp
We had a team dinner in a private room and Kenny was a pleasure to work with in the planning. The restaurant and bar and outdoor area was lively and full on a Thursday night. We had an assortment of appetizers and they are served on lazy Susan tables which make it fun for groups to share. The sushi is very fresh, scallion pancakes amazing, and I also enjoyed the chicken lettuce wraps. For an entree, I loved the chicken pad thai. The presentation of the food is beautiful and service was excellent. The wine list is also very good and the bar serves mixed drinks. Thank you and I highly recommend for a fun, relaxed and delicious meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and service is always quick. Staff is extremely nice and knowledgeable about the menu items. Sushi is on the pricier side, but you do get what you pay for. Only downside is some of the better menu items were changed/removed (tonkotsu ramen and chicken satay). Make sure have a reservation if you are not sitting at the bar.
google avatar

Tara W.

Yelp
Miso and sushi roll was delicious! The bar staff was kind to help with our take out order so we could sit and chill while stressed about getting back to our hotel in a crazy ice and snowstorm. The tables and lighting and cleanliness were the best. It felt like a perfect decompression food spot.

Lei L.

Yelp
Sorry no pictures as I ordered carry out. I may expect too much on the food. But I have to say it's okay but not that good. Ordered green papaya salad and it is not bad but not that great either. Also ordered evil shrimp noodle, I have to say the rice wide noodles exceed my expectations. Usually rice noodle is not like flour noodle that chewy, but their evil noodles are evils for me if they add a little more flavor it will be perfect. It's a little spicy, but more like Korean spicy, hot but not much spice flavor. good side of the food is nothing like Chinese food that oily (which mean healthier but less flavor)
google avatar

Yelp
Vegetarians can usually find tofu as a protein at Asian restaurants. I assumed this when I went out with a group of friends for dinner. "I'll have the whatever stir fry with tofu" wasn't an option. Appetizer dumplings were my dinner, and they were just okay. Service was... reasonable, though!
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi was so incredible! SO high quality. The Rainbow Roll was an amazing deal for the quality! So much fish and even the imitation crab was great (not usually a huge fan of imitation crab).

This place is in a good location and cute ambiance. When we arrived without a reservation, we were quickly seated as there was plenty of open spaces. Service was slow and the food was okay. The portion sizes are small and it was an interesting combination of Asian fusion and sushi.

Yelp
The food is delicious and service impeccable. I usually sit at the bar, however. Favorite dishes: BBQ chicken fried rice. You can ask for it with no spice or mildly spicy; Incredible flavor profile! Chicken is tender and sausage tasty. Sake Poke Bowl on white rice. My go to dish for health and great flavor. Mongolian Beef! Absolutely delicious

Yelp
Its so cute in this restaurant. The food was delicious. I ordered the frie chicken bao as a starter, and Asian BBQ sticky ribs. I also tried my friends Mongolian beef and the evil noodles and loved both dishes. I will definitely visit this place again. The service was great as well.
