First meal in Nashville and it was delicious! Everything is great! The food, the people, the place and the free soft serve 😋

Kristen

Google
There is parking behind the building, which is a plus in Nashville. The interior is simple, light, and airy with generally community-style seating. Wait in line, order, take your number and wait at a table. Not necessarily ideal for a quick in-and-out lunch experience, but they do make orders to go if you're short on time. Customer service is sincerely some of the best I've had, and certainly the friendliest I've experienced in Nashville so far. Food is delicious and healthy. They practice eco-friendly methods with sourcing and recyclable and compostable materials. Beers and kombucha are local. Overall a great place to visit for a healthy, refreshing breakfast, brunch, or lunch. I'd definitely take friends or clients there.

Google
This food rocks!!!! Burger was delicious and juicy!! Avocado toast was amazing!!! I can't wait to try everything on the menu!!

Google
Absolutely the best brunch experience I have had in Nashville! Love the laid back cozy atmosphere and the chill vibe. We went at 1pm on a Saturday and we were able to snag a large table for the 5 of us. I had one of the grain bowls with Salmon and which was super fresh tasty. Best of all was the service! The owners came to our table several times to check on us and after spending almost 3 hours there (a bunch of old friends from different cities catching up), the owner Doug brought over a bottle of Rose on the house. All the staff in general were super friendly! I will definitely be coming back here!

Samantha Masyk

Google
Ordered the veggie burger, it was really good. However the wait for our food was nearly an hour. You could tell others were waiting a long time too. The free ice cream at the end made it all better though!

Google
My experiences have been so positive here that I had to share! The staff is super friendly, and the food is delicious (try the chicken salad sandwich). I came here to work, and they assisted me with my wifi issues as well as thanked me with complimentary avocado fries (YUM) just because I moved tables to allow for larger parties. I've never had any restaurant do that! Check them out!

Google
My first time ... The first impression is the comfortable and fresh atmosphere, quickly followed by the friendly greeting from the staff. I tried the Pico (fried rice with sesame, sweet potato, fresh spinach, garlic, cilantro and topped with a fried egg and a subtle touch of ginger. It was a wonderful fusion of flavors. They also run a full bar and offer seasonal drink specials created by their bartenders. Fantastic experience, great value for the quality of food and the even better service. I will be back..

Tina Gionis

Google
Great vibe but if I'm paying $12 for a salad I don't want to still be hungry. It was the size of a small side salad. Not cool. The only reason I'll go back is because I'm hooked on the complimentary soft serve ice cream.

Nicholas R.

Yelp
Some of the best food I've had in Nashville and certainly, best wine menu. I like to believe that I cook very well. But the chefs here had me rethinking my life. Every dish was cooked so perfectly - highly recommend the sea bass and a bottle of wine. You pay top dollar here, so make it a special occasion and enjoy every little detail. Phenomenal decorations, professional staff, and honest- mad respect for the chefs here

Paula R.

Yelp
This would have been a five-star review had it not been for the service. The drinks and food are incredible, unfortunately, the service is not. We had a 7:00 pm reservation and did not get our entrees until about 8:30 pm with a weird 20 minute break after our appetizers. The place is beautifully decorated for the Holidays and they claim there are no reservations available until January, however, I have been multiple times and have seen multiple tables empty when I am there. Have sat at the bar twice and each time there's a table available we ask the host if we can sit there and they say they have a reservation and they will never show up and still not give us the table. They need to enact a 15 minute wait policy to ensure this is not happening. We also sat in the covered patio outside, it started raining and the water was leaking on all the tables and customers. It is a shame because all the drinks were fantastic (highly recommend the grasshopper), the food was delicious (the lamb chops, tartare, pastas and sea bass are a must try) but the duck is $40 for two tiny pieces and no sides so skip that.

Caitlin T.

Yelp
The cutest Christmas decorated brunch in the city! Each room is decorated with a different color scheme. There's Christmas music playing which ties nicely to the Christmas themed cocktails. The food was SO GOOD! Came out piping hot and super quick for a Sunday brunch. Our server was so kind, checked in frequently and offered her recommendations which is always appreciated! Cannot wait to go back!

Courtney C.

Yelp
To start, we went during Christmas time and the decor was absolutely amazing. It felt so warm and cozy. We ordered the fall salad and steak tartare to start. We enjoyed both, but would definitely want to try different starters next time. For our main course we got the duck breast and beef tenderloin. Both were delicious but the pumpkin purée that came with the duck was my favorite part! To drink I got the champagne mule and the Santa Jessica parker. Both were great! It's definitely a crowded place so make sure to have a reservation!

Yelp
Geist is a really cool spot and I am so glad that I stopped in. Geist is charming yet sophisticated. I personally love eating in renovated old historic buildings and Geist was just that, as it used to be an old blacksmith shop. As soon as you walk through the doors you're immediately met by exposed brick, from the original days when it was a shop, that adds an extra layer of charm and sophistication. For my entree I went with the pork chop. What drew me to the dish was that I saw it was paired with German potato salad. I'm a sucka for German potato salad (or really any potato salad to be honest). I was expecting the potato salad to be cold, but I was pleasantly surprised that the potatoes were hot and crispy, which I had no complaints about. It's fun to see how different places prepare their potatoes and Geist really knew what they were doing with this dish and those darn potatoes!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Love this place for brunch. The food is delicious and the servicing staff is friendly and fast. They have a heated outdoor area which is decorated in a Champagne garden theme at the moment (fall 2024). If you arrive for your rezy early, you can grab a drink at the bar. I'm only docking them by one star since we had to wait about 15 mins for our table when we had a reservation for just two. But not a big deal and I still recommend Geist for brunch.

Arielle B.

Yelp
Brunch at Geist was fantastic! The skirt steak with chimichurri was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The crispy potatoes and cheesy scrambled eggs were also tasty. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the food came out hot and fresh. The outdoor seating is charming, with cozy vibes and stylish Veuve Clicquot accents that really set the tone (and IG worthy). Highly recommend for brunch in Germantown!

Shasta S.

Yelp
We went during their Christmas celebration which was FANTASTIC. The entire restaurant is decorated extremely well. You instantly feel transported to a holiday wonderland. The server we had was great - told us her favorites and was quick and efficient. And the food - probably the best brussels sprouts I've ever had and the steak was so melt in your mouth. The lemon ricotta to start was complex and amazing. Cocktails were also delicious. We loved this experience and highly recommend. You have to get reservations quickly cause they fill up fast. We lucked out and got a spot when someone else cancelled. So glad we got to go!

Mechelle S.

Yelp
Overall great experience! This a cute vintage building reimagined into a hip sheik restaurant. We started in the bar with drinks, they offer a nice assortment of personalized beverages. I enjoyed the Blackberry Basil Gimlet without gin and I was looking for a refreshing drink, it was bit bitter but asked to add simple syrup and it was just right. The bartender was friendly and provided great service during the rush. We enjoyed quite a few appetizers including the whipped feta, house bread, watermelon salad and crispy pork belly. The house bread is a must as it's served with a cane syrup butter that makes your taste buds spin. For the entree, I ordered the sea bass. All the food is presented beautifully but the sea bass had a taste of brunt sterno fuel gel that so off putting I could not eat it and the fish was tough. I wanted to like it but did enjoy the greens and whipped potatoes. I love grilled carrots and they had the same flavor as the fish. I wonder if anyone has ever mentioned this to the Geist chef? Anyways, it was still a fun night for an out of town we traveling.

Bria S.

Yelp
Great location to celebrate with friends or a date night, the menu, drinks and ambiance are amazing and our waitress was amazing! Definitely going back.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Cute moody Christmas vibes! We came for brunch and it was really good. I had the Benedict and my boyfriend had the steak and eggs and the portions were huge. The iced coffee was also solid. Overall, super cute especially this time of year. Parking it tough if you can't find anything on the street.

Lana B.

Yelp
So great as always! We went for brunch during christmas season. We were seating immediately (with reservation). It took a minute for our server to get to us, I guess they sat us too fast and he didn't realize we were there. Im sure you have heard that Geist has the best christmas decor in town and that is not just a rumor, its true. I go the shrimp and grits and they were so good. The biscuits and gravy were okay- it comes with one large biscuit but in my opinion not enough gravy. My gin christmas specialty drink was the best drink at the table. My one complaint is that it was so overly warm in the area we were in.

Quinn H.

Yelp
We had brunch here on a Saturday and it was amazing!! The champagne patio is su ch a cool vibe and the food was delicious. Our server Paine was very knowledgeable and really friendly. We loved it.

Ashley M.

Yelp
I'd highly recommend coming here during Christmas for all their cute decor! Been here a couple times now and the service is always good. The food is decent. I will say it seems a bit overpriced for what it is, but I did enjoy it!

Sara K.

Yelp
I was not very expressed with Geist. I felt is was overpriced and the flavor profiles in the food didn't really pop or stand out. Very meh! Ambiance was nice! It's a beautiful restaurant. Service wasn't bad - nothing special. Timely but not necessarily friendly or wouldn't really describe it as great service. Again with the prices, I'd just expect more overall.

Corine M.

Yelp
Giest in Nashville is a must-visit! The house bread and scallops are absolute must-gets--simply outstanding. We also added the whipped feta and a side of broccoli, both of which were perfect additions to the meal. Sitting at the bar, we soaked in the trendy yet comfortable vibe that has an upscale feel without being pretentious. Great food, excellent atmosphere--definitely worth a visit!

Maya R.

Yelp
Second time visiting Geist for dinner and I mean wow, seriously this meal was EXCELLENT! That was actually my first word with my first bite, went with the Lamb Loin and the hubbs went with the Rigatoni. Lamb loin was very filling, so try not to load up on the apps before. We also enjoyed the Monkey Bread and Scallops as appetizers. I could have taken home another order of the bread to go, nice sweet opener or dessert option. Blackberry Gin cocktail (cannot remember the exact name) was so light and refreshing! 11/10 dining experience, the vibes are fun, small friend group or date night, and shoutout to our waitress Carmen - she was such a gem.

Quentin T.

Yelp
Exceptional for dinner or brunch. I have been wanting to come to Geist for some time and finally made an effort to do so in late January for dinner service on a Thursday. The weather was foul and it was surprisingly wasn't very busy but I had made a resy for a party of three to be safe as should always been the case when dining out in Nashville. The outdoor space was still decorated for the holidays & looked stunning. Due to weather it was closed but I made a note to come back & enjoy that area another time (more on that later) the inside space was warm & stylish so no complaints there either. For dinner we started with the house made rolls & whipped feta. I'm convinced that the rolls are the best I've had anywhere in my short but beautiful 32 years of life. I'd consider coming back & just eating two orders of those by myself & being happy & fat. The whipped feta is nothing to ignore either as it is every bit as good as butcher & bee & other great Nashville eateries that offer it. For entrees my party went with the beef tenderloin, salmon, & Cavatappi pastas. We all shared bites of each others & there was not one bad selection made. Any of these dishes will satisfy 100%. We were full by dessert but had to try something so opted for the winter pear cobbler which you guessed I was delicious. Dinner here is 5/5 s I came back for brunch service on St Patty's day with a group of 5 & we sat outside in front of the fireplace. Brunch was equally as good as dinner & the shrimp & grits I had were phenomenal. Only place in town that beats them is Lagniappe imho. Service has been great here & I love the aesthetics. Come here you won't be disappointed unless you are hard to please & if that's the case don't bother the nice people here.

Yelp
We went here for our first date night since moving to Nashville! Score! the food was best we've had since moving to US 9 years ago! Our server was perfect, checked in regularly but never in your face or on the missing list. 2 guys playing guitar and singing were absolutely amazing, on point ambiance, very talented. The bar manager( I think ) got up and sang black velvet and was brilliant! This is a place to put on your list! we will be taking everyone who visits us here!

Brennen C.

Yelp
Tried to celebrate my birthday at Geist, but what a disaster. We showed up on time for our reservation and were told by the blonde hostess it'd be a few minutes. Fine, no big deal. But after 5-10 minutes, I check back, and now there are suddenly four parties ahead of us, and it's going to be another 15 minutes. Uh, that's not how reservations work, but sure, whatever. Another 15 minutes goes by, and the crowd of people with unseated "reservations" only grows. We're all awkwardly standing in the middle of the restaurant while servers are dodging us like an obstacle course. I check again, and this time the hostess is outright rude and snippy. Finally, nearly 45 minutes past our reservation time, we're seated--outside. It was below 20 degrees that night, and we specifically requested indoor seating. Their freezing outdoor area even has blankets on the chairs because they know it's miserable. We left without ordering. After reading reviews, it's clear this isn't a one-off. Skip Geist; plenty of great spots in Nashville actually know how to treat customers.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Gorgeous afternoon in the champagne garden for my birthday brunch with friends, the restaurant does something special that is very sweet for birthdays! Our service was excellent. We enjoyed everything we got and highly recommend! Will return!

Tracy D.

Yelp
My friends and I went to Geist to celebrate our friend's 35th birthday. The food was delicious, and the drinks were made to perfection. Our server was attentive and even helped us end the night with unexpected birthday shots. The bill was easily separated, no problem at all. Parking can be a bit tricky, so I recommend arriving early to avoid feeling rushed. The back restroom was clean and spacious--definitely a plus, as I'm not a fan of cramped restrooms. Overall, it was a great experience, and I happily left a tip with a smile.

Jacki R.

Yelp
This is the second time I've been to Geist as I've visited Nashville twice and I definitely will return when visiting again. The food is always delicious, service is top notch despite being busy. Everyone in our party was happy with their meal and their drinks. The servers are all very friendly and look to please the customer. This time visiting it was during their holiday season and so the ambience was extra special. It was difficult to get a reservation ahead of time but things opened up for us a day or two before we went so keep trying. This restaurant is a jewel and shouldn't be missed.

Beth S.

Yelp
There's a little bit of parking out back, but are opportunities for pay for parking close by. The restaurant is super cute and has a lot of photo ops for a date or friends night out. The bread and butter were delicious. The butter was sweet and balanced with the bread. The whipped feta was creamy and well seasoned. I got the bucatini which had a tiny bit of spice to it but was beautifully cooked and super flavorful. We had to ask for extra parm which was totally worth it! I tried the blackberry basil gimlet drink which was the perfect sipper since we were at a business function. I'd happily go back for brunch. Just be ready for a nice sized bill but it's worth the price.

Joselyne B.

Yelp
Must visit restaurant during the holidays. The place is full of decorations and they have seasonal cocktails too it off. The mulled wine was incredible and the food was so flavorful.

Mia L.

Yelp
Such a fun place for brunch! The food was amazing! We ordered burgers and then saw the cinnamon roll go by, and had to have one!! Our server was attentive and gave great recommendations. This place is truly a Nashville gem!

Rick N.

Yelp
Great spot. Enjoyed the food, staff, and Christmas vibes. Very good date night spot.

Anthony T.

Yelp
Food and drinks..amazing and the Christmas decor was top notch! However, the staff all pretentious and not welcoming at all.

Alexander F.

Yelp
This place is outstanding! The food is delicious and fresh. We had the feta cheese appetizer this is a must! We also had the pork belly another must! Both a great way to get you started with the experience you are about to have. The drinks were also excellent. I had the old fashioned which was done perfectly! Dinner we chose different options the salmon and halibut everything was delicious! The service was above and beyond!! Ann Taylor Lawrence made us feel like home and was so friendly and gave us great options to try. All her recommendations were on point. She knew the menu very well! We laughed with her and even took pictures with her because she made our last dinner in Nash memorable. Thank you! Dessert! We had a little of everything and we loved them all!!!! They were all so tasteful. I loved the banana bread. The ambiance was just exceptional. The building is so unique and designed keeping its history. The semi outside seating was spectacular with the lighting.

Lisa S.

Yelp
5 star service from Noah and Jason. They provided wonderful recommendations too. The Christmas decor was dazzling!

Mallory B.

Yelp
Vibes are immaculate. The patio is SO cute. Yes the prices are a bit high but honestly so worth it. Went simple with a burger and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Lots of love for Geist.

Shavonne H.

Yelp
I was in town for work and a team meeting back in December and the team dinner on night 1 was here and boy am I glad we got to go here! First and foremost, since it was December the restaurant was decorated for Christmas...it was MAGICAL! I hate I forgot to get pictures, but each room was so cute and had a different vibe. The decorations were extravagant, but not tacky at all. The place is large, but has a quaint and home-y feel to it. My group was about 20 people and we were sat on the patio. My director ordered a variety of appetizers for the table. The food was amazing and the service was even better! I felt taken care of from entrance to exit. The special that night was duck with brussels sprouts and it was delicious! I've never had duck before so thought what better time to try something new. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area!

Holly V.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance at Christmas time, and delicious food. I had the chicken which was great and crispy, my friend had the short rib which I wish I got. It was so tender and fell off the bone. Reminded me of roast beef. Juices and sauce were amazing. Desert was great too, very rich. This place is a must-try.

Taina J.

Yelp
A group of nine of us came to this restaurant for my parents' wedding anniversary dinner, and we were delighted with our experience. Upon arrival, we were pleased to discover that a private room had been arranged for us, adding a touch of exclusivity to the occasion. I must mention that our experience may have been enhanced due to the anniversary celebration, so individual experiences may vary. Our server, who spoke French as her first language just like us, was exceptionally attentive and friendly, further elevating our dining experience. Both she and the chef surprised us with extra appetizers and a round of drinks, which was a thoughtful and generous gesture. For appetizers, we indulged in the house bread, beet salad, whipped feta, and Crispy marble potatoes. Each dish was a delectable delight, making it difficult to pick a favorite. However, the house bread, accompanied by syrup butter with sea salt, was irresistible and we ended up ordering a second round. The Crispy marble potatoes, a chef's gift to us, had a perfect crunch on the outside and a soft, fluffy interior. The accompanying aioli sauce was simply divine. Moving on to the entrees, our table ordered a variety of dishes including Duck, Halibut, Pork Chop, Salmon, Beef Tenderloin, Eggplant, and Cavatelli. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I personally had the Duck, which was cooked to perfection, although I wasn't particularly fond of the sweet sauce it was served with. I also had the opportunity to taste the Halibut, beef tenderloin, and Cavatelli. The Halibut was delightfully flaky, although a touch more seasoning would have elevated the flavors further. The beef tenderloin was juicy and satisfying, while the homemade pasta in the Cavatelli was a testament to the skill of the chef, especially when paired with the delightful pesto sauce. In terms of drinks, I had the pleasure of trying both the Blackberry Basil Gimlet and the Old Cuban. Personally, I found the Old Cuban to be the standout choice as it was more smooth and refreshing. Despite being pleasantly full by this point, we couldn't resist sampling one of the desserts. We chose the Espresso Hazelnut Torte, and it surpassed our expectations. The torte was incredibly rich and creamy, making it a must-try if you have room for dessert. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was exceptionally positive! However, it's important to note that each dining experience may differ, and our unique celebration may have contributed to our exceptional experience.

Kathie M.

Yelp
What a fun place! The decorations for Christmas were amazing. We enjoyed great service and the food was delicious! The only bummer was that we were seated right next to the door that led to the restrooms. Make a reservation and specify that you don't want "that" table and you should have a great experience!

Meki A.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this spot for a while. It's super cute inside. Came for Sunday brunch with my girls, I got there a little early and they were a lot to sit me shortly after I arrived. We at im the little side room, they keep that area a little cold and they had about 2 blankets per table. I loved that idea. Our waitress was very nice. I order an ice coffee with a little cream on the side and then I ordered the shrimp and grits. I am very particular about this dish and I was pleasantly surprised. It's not super creamy/cheesy like traditional shrimp and grits dishes. The broth was delicious. I will definitely be back, want to try their dinner menu.

Brenda C.

Yelp
Good Food and Drinks. Last time I was there my family was celebrating a birthday. Service was slow, but the wait was worth it We were all happy with our food selections I will definitely return. Maybe for the Holidays.

Shakia C.

Yelp
I came here today for brunch for the first time which I was excited to check this spot out. There's a small parking lot and street parking around the area so depending on the time you go; parking can be convenient. The restaurant is really cute inside and I appreciated the blankets on the chairs as I am always cold in restaurants. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which came with potatoes. The food was really good and I'd highly recommend this sandwich - very flavorful. The service was just ok but thankfully we were too busy enjoying the food and great conversation.

Kara H.

Yelp
The drinks and Christmas decor were great. We unfortunately were seated in a back room with no decor when there were multiple tables in the main area open for 30+ minutes with no one sitting at them. We were finally able to move into a vacant table in the main room - the drinks were great and our designated server was good as well. Unfortunately there are discrepancies in the time they are open until. Apple Maps says midnight on Saturday, while yelp says 10:30. What is it? We received our bill at 10:30, put our card down, and no one closed our tab for 30 minutes. From there, the music was stopped and lights were turned on. A bartender told us the doors were being locked in 5 minutes and I let her know that no one came to close our tab out even though my card was sitting there since i received the bill. A bartender behind her then said, "yeah well everything is ALL our fault" in a sarcastic tone ( what?! Should i be closing out my own tab on your system? ). We then finally paid and left so we weren't locked into Geist for the night I guess? Overall such a weird experience and didn't have a good enough time to come back.

Grace M.

Yelp
We went for brunch while visiting Nashville and it was fantastic. Would definitely go again while in Nashville. Their Christmas decor was super cute.

Taylor C.

Yelp
The single star is for the decor and atmosphere! We made a reservation, but were told to wait for a table, which defeats the purpose of reserving. I ordered the eggs Benedict, but it came on a cold, dry, uncooked English muffin, and the rest of the food was cold as well. Though they advertise fresh-squeezed orange juice, they actually serve Minute Maid. Our server was rude about our complaints, making the experience even worse. This was our fourth visit, and we were let down each time. We won't be returning for a fifth.

Allie K.

Yelp
The food, service and drinks were amazing! We had such a good time and the ambiance was great!

Olivia V.

Yelp
Love Geist. A little pricey at a glance, but you get a good meal and ambiance for what you pay.

Jamie P.

Yelp
The food was ok, but definitely not worth the prices. The whipped feta was good and came with a lot of the "dip" but only a few slices of bread. We were charged for an additional three pieces of bread to finish the feta. The place is a cool vibe, but that's not hard to find in Nashville. Service left much to be desired. Our server was often not seen for long periods of time and just didn't seem to be playing with a full deck. After a long dinner in a very dark room, the bill came and it seemed more than I was expecting but at quick glance noticed gratuity added and chalked it up to that. Didn't notice until the next day that they added a "kitchen love" charge. What??? Needless to say, we won't be back. It seems they charge you for every crumb and then some, but don't bother to communicate that. Not a fan of sneaky charges.

Brooke P.

Yelp
4.5 stars We loved it here! Went Friday night, loved it so much we headed back the next day for brunch. Dinners were amazing. If you like a char grilled flavor the pork chop was great. The salmon was my fave salmon dish to date. Whipped feta Dinner rolls Shrimp and grits Zach the waiter was so fun and knowledgeable of drink and food menu. Only thing I didn't love was steak and eggs... it was good, salad was awesome but steak was tough, couldn't eat most of it. But pic of it looks good!

Mark T.

Yelp
Cool spot.... love the mood and ambiance and history. The food not so much. To be fair I came for the pasta since it was said this was one of the best places to get pasta in the city. I had the cavatelli which is bolognese with whipped ricotta. What I got was salted pasta with over salted meat and with whipped salt. Might be the saltiest dish I have ever eaten in my life. I felt like it was a joke on the chef. You know the one where loosen the salt shaker and it poured everywhere and you are left to go, "OH WELL!" Oh well for Geist.

Cassidy W.

Yelp
John was such an amazing server and went above and beyond to make our night special!! Some of the best service we've had in Nashville. Thanks John

Lynn A.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the service was out of this world. Payne was so good to us it was the best service I had all year! I loved the summer salad and the quiche was delicious. Highly recommend!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
My absolute favorite brunch spot! So fun and girly. The veuve champagne garden is magical. The food was actually incredible and also aesthetic. The servers were so friendly and attentive. They even had blankets on the chairs if we got cold. I'm obsessed!
