The New 2022 Foods at The Minnesota State Fair | Eater Twin Cities

"Lulu’s Public House turns all-beef hot dogs and tater tots into a deep-fried, corn-dog–style mash-up with a tater-tot batter mixed with cheddar cheese and onions; traditional corndog lovers may resist, but these seem worth a try." - Justine Jones

2025: The buzz from previous years had worn off, and Lulu's Public House's 2025 offerings reflected it. The Deep-Fried Ranch Dressing was back, but it no longer had the same surprising charm. It felt like a repeat, and with the beloved Cheesecake Curds no longer on the menu, it was a disappointing year for fairgoers hoping for another showstopper. 2024: Lulu's Public House's Deep-Fried Ranch Dressing was a surprising delight! The creamy ranch filling was perfectly seasoned and the panko crust added a satisfying crunch. Dipping it in the hot honey sauce took it to another level. While it might sound strange, it was definitely worth trying for something unique and delicious! 2023: Lulu's Public House scored big with their Cheesecake Curds. These deep-fried nuggets of cheesecake batter were crispy on the outside, with a warm, gooey center. The strawberry dipping sauce was the perfect finishing touch, adding a fresh burst of flavor that cut through the richness. Lines were long for this unique treat, but for good reason.

The service was good and the atmosphere was better! Tried the caprese curds. It fell short for me. The crustinis were so stale! Not good. Maybe try something else....??

Hire better workers next year. I was so excited for Lulu’s this year for their deep fried ranch cause it was so delicious last year but the staff who took my order completely killed the experience it for me. They were unfriendly, rude and did not even hand me my food. I was waiting in line and the cashier I was in line with left for whatever reason. The next cashier had nobody in her line, saw me, made eye contact and shouted for the next person in line on the other side. When my cashier finally came back and took my order she just had my food on the counter next to her and never handed the food to me. I stood there waiting and didn’t want to be rude and reach over but when I realized this worker wasn’t doing her job, I just grabbed it. The experience from both workers definitely ruined it for me. I don’t know if those workers were just uncomfortable with the fact that I was the only Asian person in the line at the time but I felt like they were the rudest workers ever. I have never had bad experiences with staff at the state fair before and this just does it for me.

A great food spot at the Minnesota state fair with a good beer selection too. The fried Mac and cheese was good and the southern chicken sandwich was one of the best fair foods a tried this year. Also lost of shopping nearby which is nice.

Fun spot at the Minnesota State Fair. The line is super long but worth it. Fun place where water steams fron the balcony.

The tot dog was a highlight of my 2022 Minnesota State Fair experience. It was my family’s first time at the fair and we all loved the savory treat. The lines seemed longer going up to the main window of the building, and slightly shorter on the sides. Wait times are average for state fair food vendors. Open air seating on the upper level provides a nice view of the amphitheater and market. Several picnic tables and benches are available around as well. Has breakfast options, and frozen adult beverages.

Had a Schells sour beer with raspberry and the fried cheese curds. Highly recommend both. Lulus is a staple for me at the fair. Always a great atmosphere and food/drinks!
