We had a great chili in a very good sourdough bowl and a solid burger and coleslaw. The staff were super friendly and quick. It was fun to watch the karaoke on Saturday night.

First time visiting Idyllwild! We just checked into our place and explored the cute town, but most of the restaurants were closed. The only one open was The Lumber Mill Bar & Grill. It was busy, so we patiently waited for a table. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a great selection of meals to try! We ordered the ribeye steak with Caesar salad and mashed potatoes, plus a crumbled cheese appetizer, it was worth it! Since our place doesn’t have a refrigerator or microwave, we had to finish everything. It turned into a romantic outdoor dinner with delicious food and such friendly staff. Definitely worth it for a good dinner in Idyllwild.

Had dinner here with my boyfriend! The food is amazing! Love the decor! The staff are very friendly. My boyfriend and I had a bad experience at a nearby burger place. We are so happy we found Lumbar bar and grill! It's nice to know good customer service still exists! Check them out! They're fantastic!

Service was friendly and quick. I ordered to go. I got the San Francisco burger side of mashed potatoes, sooo good, and Cheese curds. I didn't get a picture of the food...i ate it to fast. With that said in general I am not a burger person I need to be craving one....this one was delicious 😋

The atmosphere was ok, a bit tight inside as you walk in, they provide inside or outside eating. You sit yourself if available or wait to be seated if busy. They have a bar. Ones we ordered our food, it didn't took long to be served. I got the Idy Burrito and my boo got The Ortega Burger, they were both delicious. I have nvr had a burrito that flavorful and moist. The red sauce is spicy but gooood, it also comes with a side of cabbage and pico de gallo, really good. The burger was juicy and very filling, I will definitely come back and will definitely recommend to stop by. 👍 👍

Small little bar and grill. Has a small bar area you can seat at and some outdoor seating as well as some tables inside. The staff is supper nice. Place is kind of run down. The outside is kinda dirty with stuff stacked up in the corner. Food was pretty good but over priced. A burger fries and a pop sets you back $25+ tip. $30 meal this was not.

It has been maybe 6 months since having lunch here. The food is still great! However the service was horrible! It started when the waitress Sewa She asked me in a very inappropriate way to tie my dog up to a poll on the patio. However the place was empty! Inside and outside on the patio! It made no sense to tie my dog up, I did keep him by our side in case other people came in but no one did. I do not think this place is dog friendly anymore!!!! I ordered a glass of wine, it was a very small pour. I asked the server why it was so little and she spent 5 minutes explaining why, she was extremely rude and condescending she said she was an alcoholic and can understand why I'm asking(eye roll and wth, who says that while working). She also put her fingers all over my glass of wine trying to show the measurements etc. that was gross!! As we were leaving my mother asked for a to go Diet Coke she ordered and paid $4.25. The server came back with a half filled plastic cup with Diet Coke ... we asked nicely for a fresh glass of Diet Coke to go, she did not finish her first one with lunch. It was very odd it's just soda it doesn't cost that much to refill. The server went on for almost 10 minutes lecturing us about how this place mainly serves "wealthy people" and they order food and never ask questions and so on. I told her this is a local spot I'm sure "wealthy people" eat here as well but what's your point. She also said she was new working there so how she knows only wealthy people eat there if she's new doesn't make sense.(eye roll) Basically this server Sewa was unprofessional, disrespectful and ignorant! The food is still great we had the fish tacos always amazing so thank you to the chef! Service awful. We will continue to come here for the food, but will make sure we never have the same server again.

The food is mediocre and over-priced for what it is. Service was horrible. I wasn't given silverware, napkins, or water, and had to ask specifically for each of these things. I never got the silverware. They brought me the check when I had only eaten half my burger, seemed very keen on rushing me out (it was a messy burger and hard to finish without silverware). It doesn't seem like a hiker-friendly place if you're coming from the pct. I showered and did laundry today so it's not like I was even dirty or smelly. I felt they were rushing me out for being a hiker though. Then when I tried to pay for my food, they said my card's chip wasn't working. I could tell when watching that the server wasn't putting the card in all the way. I tried to tell them this but they just kept repeating it wasn't working. Annoying, had to pay with debit which I usually avoid. When I used my credit card at the market across the street just a few minutes later, what do you know, the chip was working just fine!! Really poor service. They don't even know how to put a card in a chip reader properly. My friend also got salmonella from eating chicken at this place a week ago (I thought I'd be safer with well done beef). Beware.

Our friends have talked up this place for months, so we decided to make the drive up to try is"t ourselves today. It did not disappoint, although we ordered too much food. We had the Vale burger, onion rings ,pastrami fries and iced tea. It was all great, burgers were juicy, fries and onion rings were crispy, the ranch was good and the tea fresh. The service was fast and friendly. Cute little mountain top establishment, we will definitely be back!

Found this place because there was no wait and we got immediately seated. They are dog friendly with parking spots in the front. We got the mushroom burger with a side of chili and the clam chowder. Husband said the burger was very thick and filling and juicy. The homemade chili was good and hearty. Claim chowder is the orange type one so it's not the traditional white colored one. It was good but be prepared if you order it.

I had a cup of chili, good! Hubs had a steak and fries. He enjoyed it. The service was great. Ambiance casual. Would try it again for sure.

We came up to Idyllwild and needed lunch! We decided to give The Lumber Mill Bar and Grill. We ordered the Tuna sandwich, the pastrami sandwich, and a cheese quesadilla from the kid's meal. The portion here is huge! they are very generous in the portion, the price is okay, but the flavor - it would depend on what you order. Out of the food we ordered, the pastrami sandwich was very salty, but the onion rings were delicious. The kid's quesadilla was okay, and the tuna sandwich, again, even though it was very generously filled in with tuna, it was okay. The side dishes here outshine the main dishes. The staff were friendly and worked efficiently. They accommodated our party as we had a stroller coming in and needed a high chair for our baby. Our waitress was very busy, but still came to our table to check in on us and made sure we had whatever we needed. Thank you, Tanya! The place is very cozy and it can get busy really fast. They have plenty of tables, 3 different dining areas, a bar, and restrooms. We were so blessed to have come when we came because there were still some tables, by the time we were done with our food, there was a line out the door.

My newest find in this lovely town. Comfortable clean dining room with rustic decor. Staff was friendly and attentive, and took very good care of us. They have a full bar, so we decided on a Paloma for me and a Hibiscus Margarita for hubby. Both were very good. Tart and refreshing. I had the BLTA. Loved it. Nice toasted bread, crispy delicious bacon, avocado, and fresh tomatoes and lettuce . Hubby had the Big Foot burger. It's a big one. Giant patty with bacon, pepper jack cheese, avocado, and grilled onions with lettuce tomato and sauce. He enjoyed it. Had half while in house and had the second half as a snack later. I even got to say hello to our cook on the way out in the exposed kitchen. She did an outstanding job preparing our meal with the fresh flavorful ingredients. They have Karaoke on the weekends. We didn't get to enjoy that this time, but will save that delightful information for our next trip in to Idyllwild. 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon not very crowded but there is one server to take everyone's order on the patio. Took a long time to get her to ask what we wanted to order. The burger was so so nothing special especially for $18.00 not worth it I would have gone to a different restaurant but my friend insisted on going here. Not happy with the food or service or prices Potato Salad was ok again nothing special

I've been here many times, though it had been a few months before tonight. The staff were extremely rude to us and the group of people I met there. They accused us of being too drunk (which I absolutely was not after a little wine with dinner at another place) and they literally had ALL of the lights on that they wouldn't dim at all well before closing time (it lists here that closing time is midnight and it has NEVER been this way in all the times I've been, this experience happened at 10:15). If this is how they are going to do business from now on, I won't be returning. I know it's a small town, but you don't treat people this way, especially locals. Have a conversation instead of being rude from the minute your customers walk in, ready to spend money and sing a few songs. Instead of just saying NO when we express that the lights are blinding, maybe say something like "ah, I'm sorry we have to have them on because -insert reason-" instead of angrily picking up our menus and kicking everyone out for someone turning one light off. But again, maybe I've been away too long and bright lights at a karaoke bar is just how they do things now. I love the restaurants here in Idyllwild and the wonderful people that run them, and wouldn't write a review like this if it weren't actually warranted. Above all you should be kind, and kindness is 100% not what we received tonight. Please be better if you want your locals to keep coming back. Will update if things improve.

Terrific burgers, fries and onion rings. Service is fast and friendly. Not sure if we were just starving from the hike, but the food was super tasty. Even the kids' corn dog was crispy and delicious. The Caesar salad left a bit to be desired, so I wouldn't pay extra to upgrade your side dish. The strawberry lemonade was made to order and also wonderful.

Been to the wild many times but first time eating a burger fron the Mill. Happy to reports they are good! Must be the 1000 island but also how they make/season their burger patties. I had the HI and the pineapple added just the right amount of sweetness. I like, what look and tasted to be homemade.

Our cashier Tanya was amazing! She helped us figure out what we wanted for dinner since my girlfriend and I have never been there. The salad was delicious however I think the chicken was a little skimpy for the extra six dollars. I don't even think it was a full half of chicken breast; however, it was tasty! Green bean fries we loved with the extra kick. The zucchini spears send a under cooked. Overall I would definitely go back!

Karaoke was amazing 10/10 the guy who hosts the karaoke is an amazing soul would recommend going in karaoke night lots of fun!

It's been over 3 months since we ate here and I STILL think about their hamburger! Maybe it's because, until last September when we came into LMB&G for dinner, I hadn't had a hamburger in 6 months. But I've had them since, and not one compares to my memory of this one. The hand made patty, the real cheddar cheese, the insanely soft brioche bun will not leave the memory of my taste buds. Here's the kicker - it wasn't MY burger! Hubby ordered it and I asked for a salad. The Cobb I had was delicious and large, but Hubby's burger serenaded my nostrils like bells in the brains Pavlov's dogs. When he mentioned he was getting full, I seized my opportunity to devour the last 1/3. It was heavenly! Service was friendly and efficient. Crowd was a mix of locals and tourists in for the weekend. Unlike other mountain towns, the community friendliness and pride is shared with all. Modest folk, delicious, fairly priced food, comfortable atmosphere, what more could you ask for? I can't wait to get back to Lumber Mill & hope I see some of you enjoying it as well. Cheers! "CC"

Yummy food and awesome service! We sat at the bar and the person helping us was really great :) We thought they closed at 10 due to yelp hours, but it seems they closed at 9. Everything was great and the burger was juicy. Also the bacon was delicious!

Amazing burgers, the service was good and the environment was amazing. I love the karaoke nights! Definitely a good way to bring individuals together.

Good, hearty comfort food, no frills diner, somewhat spotty service, and karaoke. Oh, hell yes, karaoke. This is straight ahead comfort food. The mozzarella sticks were fine. The burgers, especially the Wild Western (basically a BBQ bacon cheeseburger), were very good. The Bacon Lovers burger was pretty good and the San Francisco burger (essentially a patty melt) was messy but delightful. They were busy and they seemed to be fully-staffed but service was not the best in the world. Everyone was friendly enough but there were some hiccups. At 8:00 p.m., the karaoke starts. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is not for you. You'll never see me doing karaoke (been there, done that) but it's a hoot to watch. This place is totally kid friendly, including during karaoke, and they silence the naughty words in some of the songs, if that is any concern. Good food and a fun time. There you go.

My mushroom burger with a beyond patty and sweet potato fries ended up costing $27, but it was delicious and I'd get it again.

I looked up dog friendly places as I am traveling with a furry companion. We sat out on the patio, where other dogs are welcome. My travel mate enjoyed a "puppy patty," while I thoroughly enjoyed the Lumber Salad with Salmon and side of sweet potato fries. Great service, and we enjoyed our dinner:)

Great burgers! Made well and taste amazing after a long hike. Very relaxed, can bring the whole family to enjoy well priced food. The staff was very friendly, even towards tourist! Nothing special about the atmosphere, but that is what makes it perfect to get lunch after getting off the trail. Recommend. I had the Wild Western Burger and it was very tasty!

Sandwiches we ordered were awesome! Staff was friendly, but the restaurant seemed understaffed so wait times seemed longer than usual.

We had a pretty mixed experience here. While we appreciated that they got us in quick on what seemed like a busy night, we definitely felt like they didn't want to wait on us. There was a person at the host stand who sat us and took our drink order. She never smiled and seemed upset to be there. We asked three times for water over our first fifteen minutes just sitting there. We finally got up and asked for some from the older woman by the kitchen. She put about a half of a cup of water in a pitcher and handed it to me. We were bummed we chose this place. But then, oddly, the food was really good. The wings were very hot and cooked perfectly. The veggies with the wings were the good cuts of celery and carrots. The burrito was better than the Mexican restaurants in town. And the Caesar was perfect in every way. It came with delicious garlic toast which was odd I thought but tasted so good with the dressing. And my old fashioned was incredible. So maybe they were just really busy and stressed? Not sure. But we'd definitely go back and just hope for nicer service.

It's a nice location and the burgers are hit or miss, mostly miss. The last time I ate here I got two burgers and an appetizer for $60 - the prices have gone up and it's pretty unbelievable for a burger joint. The food is mediocre and we can always tell when something is right out of a freezer bag. I don't think I'll be trying this place again. Btw - just stop selling the buffalo cauliflower. We brought it back home and had to air fry them to make them somewhat edible.

Went in on a Thursday night, no waiting, plenty of seating. Full bar, cocktail menu too. Tried the special Birria Burger, which was decadent, along with upgrading to zucchini fries with ranch dipping sauce. Great service alongside a bar area, an indoor seating area and an outdoor seating area. Extensive menu. Highly recommended if you want a fast, filling meal in downtown Idy.

Stopped by here for some cocktails and appetizers! The cauliflower wings were flavorful and a great snack, the fries were crispy, and the bloody mary's were so savory and satisfied my cravings! Our bartender was attentive, for him also being a great waiter as well. Only complaint was my group and I asked for 5 common different alcohols like Jack Daniel's, or even Kraken, that the bartender told us they were out of. We'll definitely be making a visit here when back in Idyllwild!

Don't judge a restaurant by the outside or the name. This place is legit when it comes to the quality of the food!!! We went with a group of 10 adults and 10 kids. We sat on the side indoor patio area. Looks like a little home in the wall restaurant, and it is. And that's fine because they have great food, excellent service, and a kid-friendly place. I ordered the fish tacos- some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. They were crisp, light, flavorful, not greasy, and heavy. My order came with 3, and that was too many for me. I shoulda shared. Some folks in our group ordered the burgers and said they were amazing. Kids loved the chicken nuggets and the quesadilla. The sangria comes with real fruit and not overly sweet at all. Our entire group was shocked at how amazing the food was given that the restaurant is in a little mountain town. We were all so glad we gave it a shot. Our waitresses were hustling and made us feel we were well taken care of. We will definitely come back again.

Great service & burgers. The draught selection is meh but to be expected at a place like this. Reallly good burgers though and great fries. Would come back for the burger alone. Oh & their bleu cheese is house made and pairs wonderfully with their buffalo boneless wings. Thoroughly enjoyed our time and everything we ordered.

So during our quick get away for the day we stumbled on this cool little bar and grill. Atmosphere very comfortable small town feel where you know the locals. Our waitress was super adorable and gave us all the tea on the restaurant. It was actually owned by her parents. My hubby got the fish and chips and I got a burger. Let me just say the the burger was on point. It was something about the meat. The bar-b-que sauce was Sweet Baby Rays which my husband uses all the time, but it was the meat along with the sauce that made the burger delicious. The restaurant was located centrally in town so we were able to leave our car afterwards and walk around. This is a cool like spot to eat and hang out for a minute. I would definitely come back here.

The waitress was very kind and insightful of what is on the menu. First time experience and was an enjoyable one. Bison burger was delicious.

I was in the area, wanted a small bite to eat and a cocktail. Chose to pop in here as it looks like a real bar. BLOODY MARY It was a real Bloody Mary. Good mix, lots of tajin on the rim. Wish it were stronger, better pour. At $10.95 did not want to pay extra for a double. Regardless, it was an exceptional Bloody Mary. Perfect for an afternoon libation. Next time I will pay extra for a double. CUP OF CHILI Their chili is amazing. It is rich/thick and seasoned perfectly. It was meaty and flavorful, precisely what I was looking for. The cup was the perfect size for me. Was topped off with onions, cheese, etc. PERFECT. I will definitely be ordering this dish again. This is a great local bar/restaurant. Completely works for me.

This place is a trip. The ambience is interesting and the service isn't great but I have to say they have the best burgers in town! Mine was cooked just like I like it (rare-medium rare) which seems hard to nail but they got it. So tasty! There were 6 of us and everyone raved about the burgers. So if you're looking for dang good food with no fluff this is your place.

My friends and I stayed at a campsite nearby and needed to find a place where they allow dogs. We searched on Yelp and saw that this place allows dogs and has good reviews. We were seated outside. They had heated lamps which helped a lot as it was 40 degrees outside. They had plenty of food to choose from. We ordered two burgers, Cobb salad, sandwich, sweet potato fries, and clam chowder. All were ok except for the clam chowder. Our friend said they were too salty. They didn't finish that. Service was slow. The host that had to come back 3 times to take our order decided not to come back at all. I guess she got tired of us not being ready to take our orders.

I did not get to try the location. The menu looked good but I just felt gross inside it was dark and spiderweb. People were there and they were eating and seemed happy but it just didn't have the aesthetic I was looking for so I'll try it again another time and maybe have a different experience since spring cleaning at all. Going to try somewhere nearby instead and I'll come back and update the set later date. They seemed really busy on the other side as well so I sat there for a bit without any service as well. So I don't think it's anything bad to reflect on them at all. Just end of the day during the week and kind of sitting in the back tucked away anyway so all factors to consider and will check in next time I'm in the area.

After 4 hours of driving through LA traffic, we just wanted to eat something but The Lumber Mill Bar & Grill surprised us. My son called their cheeseburger on the menu 'burgerlicious' and the California Burrito is literally the best I have had in California. The meat was deliciously marinated and spiced and the fries just added that nice crunch. It was the perfect meal for us - as we settled down after setting up our campsite in Idylwild campground - just 10 minutes walk from the restaurant!

Super cozy spot and an incredible burger to eat after a solid hike! Friendly staff! Worth it! Come here you won't regret it!

Great food and booze. My wife had a salad (meh) and mozzarella sticks... I had some good pastrami fries. My drink, an Old Fashioned with Angels Envy Rye was perfect. The bartender made it to my exact requests. The staff was very attentive and friendly. No complaints. We hung a dollar bill on the ceiling. I would have given 6 stars, but the salt shaker was missing from my table.

This review is for the Lumber Mill burgers: they were PERFECT after a day of hiking some nearby trails. My wife and I both got the basic Lumber Mill burger, and we both agreed: EXCELLENT! Our compliments to the chef! The service was friendly and efficient; the ambiance was definitely giving mountain bar and grill and vibes. But we didn't come up to the mountains for any fancy burger joints. This spot came up as the #1 spot in Idyllwild for burgers, and I have to agree.

For my regular diet people, my mom and sister really enjoyed the food and only really mentioned that it is pretty greasy but it IS a burger. Now for my veggie people, do NOT get the garden patty. I ordered the ortega burger with the garden patty and when I say I spit out my first bite I mean I haven't had meat in years and this was by far one of the worst "fake meats" I have ever had. Which my mom also confirmed.. the texture and flavor is so odd. Otherwise the service was great. There was a wait but it was a snowy busy day so they actually managed really well and were efficient despite being out of many things. Personally will not be returning but might recommend to the juicy meat lovers. My only regret is spending twenty dollars on a bland garden burger.
