Upscale, modern American cuisine & drinks in a stylish locale with outdoor tables in heated igloos.
"Because kids have a tendency to want to run around, Lumen Detroit is great for not just a meal, but also releasing that kid energy at the adjoining Beacon Park. That makes it attractive real estate for diners with rug rats in tow. The park regularly hosts family-friendly events, while the menu’s starter offerings such as mac ‘n cheese, pretzels, or wagyu meatballs — nice little bites during an outing downtown." - Serena Maria Daniels
"With 360-degree rooftop views of downtown Detroit and Beacon Park, Lumen’s 45 rooftop seats are prime spots for kicking back with a Belgian beer. Take a peek over the park or the neighboring Grand Army of the Republic castle while sipping Delirium Tremens over a bowl of pei mussels or New American bites. Lumen also offers seating in its bright indoor dining room, and outdoor seating on street level." - Serena Maria Daniels
"Beacon Park’s bold restaurant and beer hall Lumen is known, in part, for its expansive patio space that wraps around the exterior and onto the roof. That makes it attractive real estate for diners in the summer, but less so in the winter. Fortunately, the owners have found a remedy that extends the al fresco dining season: Customers can gather around the restaurant’s many outdoor fire pits or cozy up inside one of several plastic igloos that encase sets of patio furniture." - Serena Maria Daniels

"Lumen, located at the corner of Grand River Avenue and Cass Avenue in downtown Detroit, is a new Belgian-style beer hall and brasserie. The restaurant is a collaboration between park developer DTE Energy and the LePage family, known for owning several restaurants in metro Detroit. It features a LEED-certified building design by Boston-based firm Touloukian Touloukian and interior design by Saroki Architecture. The venue offers a casual dining experience with a menu that includes cheese, charcuterie, schnitzel-style Michigan pork chop, and Michigan-brewed beers. It has 125 seats inside with retractable windows and plenty of outdoor seating including a rooftop patio. Lumen serves dinner initially with plans for lunch and brunch services later." - Brenna Houck
