Fantastic apartment. It did have its challenges earlier, but that goes with every single new apartment. They got the packaging system fixed, they have fantastic working elevators, and they also have top-tier amenities. The gym is well-equipped for any avid lifter. Sauna and pool are all well-maintained. Management staff is fantastic, they've been super responsive. Work orders are completed within 24 hours of submitting them. And amazing front desk staff. Lumen has great events throughout the year and really encourages a great community within the building. Though we do notice (at no fault of Lumen) other residents bringing outside guests for these events, Lumen has begun working on cracking that down. Management is also wary that some guests allow their pets to defecate in front of the building and has taken steps to ensure that the building stays clean, which we can appreciate, unlike other buildings in Long Island City where you're stepping over poop on your way out to work every morning. 11/10 management. And they also surprise the residents with little treats here and there.

I want to start by saying I really appreciate the front desk team and maintenance staff here. They are on the whole very friendly and do their best to keep things running smoothly! The apartment itself is very new and nice. That said, I’ve now been stuck in the elevator four separate times, and despite reporting it each time to management, there’s been no apology, update, or compensation. I even have video proof (Google won’t let me upload it) and photos showing the elevator moving while the doors were open, getting stuck, etc. which is really concerning from a safety standpoint. One of my friends said she saw the management team shrug it off when she reported me being stuck in the elevator… that was uneasy and sad for me to hear. These repeated elevator issues have caused me to miss work meetings, run late, and honestly feel anxious about getting stuck again. For the price we pay in rent, I’d expect at least reliable, safe elevators. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been my experience. On top of that, when we first moved in, there were stains on the bathroom floor. Not a big deal, but it seemed like the unit hadn’t been properly cleaned in the rush before move-in. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously, because this could be a great place to live if these issues were addressed properly.

We just moved into the Lumen building and absolutely love it! Everything is brand new, beautifully designed, and really well equipped. Although it's a huge building with multiple units, the facilities never feel too busy. The management team is super responsive and takes feedback for improvements seriously. They also organize great community events that make it easy to meet people and feel right at home. The apartments themselves are super modern, comfortable, and full of thoughtful details. Highly recommend!

i was honestly hesitant to sign a lease because of some of the reviews, but once i toured lumen and actually saw everything in person, it changed my perspective. the building is modern and clean, and it’s very noticeable that construction is still ongoing when you arrive, so i’m not sure how anyone could say they were unaware, it’s pretty clear from the start. move-in orientation with suhaily and george was smooth and super informative! they were patient, friendly, and answered every question i had without rushing me. any time i’ve needed help, the front desk and office have responded quickly and professionally. overall, i’m happy living here and would recommend the building to anyone who wants a nice space, great amenities, and a responsive team. a friend of mine brought to my attention that someone mentioned my name in a recent review. when i mentioned construction, it was based on people talking about noises coming from construction. it wasn’t about the elevators directly.

Been living in the building for the past 2 months. The staff is amazing- very friendly and helpful! They made the moving process smooth and as easy as possible, and they are very responsive. The amenities are great and very well cared for. The hot tub/pool is incredible! The apartment is very comfortable, made with quality materials and appliances are good and work well. I'm loving this new neighborhood: it is calmer than Manhattan, but with very good and reliable transportation (E line is two minutes away), many restaurants and nice shopping options (Trader Joe's and Target both less than 5 minutes walking) I most definitely recommend!

Moved in last week of June. Building is still going through initial bumps in the road as far as finishing up construction but I feel they are doing a great job problem solving and communicating with the tenants about any service interruptions and improvements! They hold some nice events, and even when the gas was down briefly they provided solutions and complimentary meals for the entire month. The front desk staff are all friendly and helpful. Enjoy the brief chats and laughs with them. They are all exceptional. Suhaily is doing an awesome job in the management office. She helps me with getting any issue solved in a timely manner. She is responsive to her emails as well which is great! She is also a pleasure to speak with when running into eachother around the building. I can’t wait for the building to be complete and see its full potential in the upcoming months. Love it here.

I want to preface this by saying there are many things I like about Lumen - the front desk staff, the leasing staff -- Eddie, Rene, Suhaily, etc. - are all wonderful. The place is nice overall and I'm thankful to live in a beautiful building close to the city. However, I am leaving this review because of an unacceptable situation with the elevators. For the past several months I have lived here, we have almost never had a time where all 4 elevators were working. For the past several weeks, only one elevator has been working - and I have NOT seen maintenance men coming in every day to try to address the situation. I have NOT received any communication about when the elevators would be fixed. It just seems like Greystar was quite content to just have one of four elevator working... and today, I stepped out of my apartment on the 42nd floor and NO elevator was working. I am really disappointed with Greystar, the company that owns Lumen. It just does not seem like they have made fixing the elevators a priority at all. This is appalling because people are getting trapped on their floor or stuck in the elevators QUITE FREQUENTLY! It's getting to the point where I'm uneasy about riding the elevator up or down just to get back home or leave my place. Several of my friends have experienced the elevator shaking, suddenly stopping, or shooting up (instead of down). The other day my friend was riding the elevator but the door did not close all the way, WHILE the elevator was moving. This is just so unsafe!! I love the Lumen staff, the Concierges, the desk staff -- they're all wonderful people. And the building is great. But being able to get safely to and from my home (or being able to get there at all!) is simply a non-negotiable bare minimum requirement. And greystar doesn't seem to have made that a priority. Nor are they offering rent discounts or any sort of concession to the residents to make up for it. I'm just extremely, extremely disappointed, and I feel particularly bad for the people who have been trapped in elevators. The other night, we could hear someone screaming and yelling and banging from inside one of the elevators. I know that sounds dramatic, but it's true. Greystar, if you are reading this, please make it a priority to fix the elevators. There is no reason in a building with 4 elevators in a city filled with elevator repair companies that we only have had 1 elevator working. There's no reason people should be regularly getting trapped in elevators (like 1x a week at this point?). Or at the very least, please make it up to your residents with some sort of financial concession.

Lumen LIC is a beautiful new luxury building with stunning views and great potential. Unfortunately, serious issues undermine the experience and raise concerns about management. Recently, my partner was trapped in one of the elevators for nearly 50 minutes with no functioning two-way communication system and no cell/Wi-Fi reception inside. He was left without updates, which is an unacceptable safety risk for tenants. On top of that, smaller maintenance issues linger — for example, our Manhattan view is marred by tape left by a worker on the outside of our window (see picture). Tenants deserve a building that prioritizes both safety and quality of living. Until management takes genuine corrective steps, it’s difficult to recommend Lumen despite its potential.

Great Building with amazing staff! Could not recommend this building more. 24/7 Gym, a hot tub and pool all in the heart of Long Island City!
