"In the centre of this charming spa town you’ll find an unassuming exterior concealing an elegant and stylish restaurant. Helen runs the service and she’s a natural host, so you’ll be warmly welcomed and well looked after. Her experienced husband Jon runs things in the kitchen and his cooking is underpinned by a strong classical base, with some fine details running through his dishes. Flavours are well-judged and harmonious and his sauces are especially memorable. Many of the vegetables, herbs and edible flowers come from their own 15-acre smallholding." - Michelin Inspector

This was my first Michelin experience, and it did not disappoint. We went for my chef husband’s birthday, and he spent the entire time in a state of bliss! He was so impressed by the flavors and ideas surrounding all the dishes. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere — I was honestly expecting pretentious nonsense, but it was the complete opposite. Insane creative high end food but in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The soft pairing (nonalcoholic) were superb, and all the staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. It’s obviously pricy with a Michelin rating, but if you’re looking for a flawless high end experience, this is the place to go!

What an incredible experience. We had the 8 course option with wine flight and from beginning to end it was stunning! Immensely clever and imaginative cooking. The service was delightful too. I honestly can't find a fault. Amazing!!

I went with my family for my birthday and had a great time. It’s a small, understated restaurant from the outside, with the only clue that you are about to enter the best fine dining restaurant in Cheltenham being the famous red plaque and white star sitting pride of place next to the sample menu. We had the 6 course menu which was full of dishes packed with exquisite flavours, all served with brilliant, friendly staff. The menus are on tablets, which I was a bit skeptical at first, but with them being left on the table it was great to read about all the detail that goes into the dishes and the origin for all the locally sourced produce, as you eat them. Would highly recommend it’s a real treat!

What a hidden gem, this is not the expected Michelin experience, it was so far beyond that!! It had no element of pretentious, it felt like dining with friends, savouring an amazing artistry of food and flavours at their highest. It is a restaurant once experienced you will never forget and you just want more visits! This was my husbands first experience of a tasting menu, he was quantity over quality foodie who has absolutely been converted by his overall experience at Lumiere - hats off to Jon, Helen & Team. If you haven’t get discovered this gem and have a special celebration, it is a must, you will not be disappointed!

We went in for my husband's birthday. It's a lovely and small venue, but the service and food and drink quality was superb - well it's Michelin standard! We had some very interesting dishes, which we usually wouldn't go for, but they were all very good.

We dined here for my birthday on the 21st August. We had the 8 course tasting menu and it was incredible - highly recommend, can't wait to hopefully go back one day. The only dish we were not fans of was the canapé containing Stinking Bishop cheese but that's purely because we are not big cheese people, it was very strong but I'm sure delicious to the right people 😊 the raspberry dessert was divine and I would pay a lot of money just for the custard again! The sweetcorn dish with eel was another favourite which I'd have never thought would be. That's the beauty of a tasting menu as a fussy eater 🤗

Had the eight course tasting menu between 6 for a birthday. The food was beautiful, the wine (particularly a white from Japan and a white burgundy) delicious and Matthew and his team took exceptional care of us all! Each course was perfectly crafted, but the more ravenous might want an extra portion of bread.

Great food, nice setting, good combination of flavours, perhaps a little too daring at times. The staff were very friendly, a little on the young side and lacking experience but still adequate for a good dining experience. Very good sommelier with interesting pairing choices. Didn't feel let down when having a dairy free menu either. Having tried other similar establishments in the area, lumière is without a doubt leading the pack! Kudos to all staff working there.
