My experience with the Lumiere Research Scholar Program has been truly transformative. Through the program, I didn’t just gain research knowledge, I learned how to think, question, and build something meaningful from scratch. Working one-on-one with my mentor helped me understand what real academic research feels like: the process of forming hypotheses, collecting and refining data, and writing with clarity and purpose.
Lumiere gave me more than skills; it taught me how to connect ideas across disciplines, manage long-term projects, and stay persistent when results didn’t come easily. I’ve learned how to present findings, handle feedback, and transform complex technical work into something that can make a real impact.
The experience also helped me discover what kind of researcher and person I want to become. The mentorship, structure, and constant encouragement made me believe that even as a high school student, I can contribute to meaningful academic work. I know that the skills and mindset I developed here, from critical thinking to scientific writing, will stay with me for years to come and guide my future studies in AI and education.
I’m deeply grateful to Lumiere and my mentor for this journey. It was one of the most valuable experiences of my academic life.
