London Restaurants in Lockdown: Best Delivery in North London | Eater London

"In need of a coffee and cake pick-me-up? Luminary Bakery will remain open in both Camden and Stoke Newington sites, operating as takeaway-only for fresh coffee, cakes and bakes. Its letterbox brownie service will still be running, with the chewy, chocolatey trays available to be delivered UK-wide, so sugar fiends can still rejoice." - Angela Hui

Bought 3 lovely clebration cakes from Luminary after trying their wedding taster cup cakes. After trying out a couple of supplier these were my favourites. I went for the Carrot Cake, Chocolate and Hazelnut and Salted Caramel. They were all delicious - moist and really tasty! My only slight complaint was their serving size suggestions. They said 14-20 people per cake for the size I ordered, so I got 3 birthday cakes for a party of around 75 people and was worried it wouldn't be enough... I needn't have worried at all! One cake did the entire party!!! So If you just want to give people a small taster slice for a party/wedding or an event, you won't need 3 cakes for 70 people!

We ordered a selection of Luminary Bakery’s mini cakes for our wedding reception. Christy was super helpful during the ordering process, and the cakes were delivered to the venue on the day on time. Our guests really enjoyed the cakes - not a single one was left! There were also a selection of flavours for different dietary requirements (gluten free, vegan etc), which was really helpful and meant there was something for everyone. It was also great to know that a portion of our wedding budget was going towards a social enterprise and a worthy cause, so would thoroughly looking into Luminary Bakery as your wedding cake supplie!

Even with an email mishap (technology sometimes 🤷‍♀️) and a particular busy week for them, the team at Luminary Bakery were able to fulfill our order - - amazing work! The cookies were a hit with the team with one of our bosses saying it was the best 🍪 he has ever eaten! And well done for the fabulous social work you do - thank you 🤍

Really nice cozy cafe n the suburbs of London with amazing fleshly baked stuff. We tried cinnamon roll, cardamom ban and cheese scone, with breakfast tea! All of them were delicious and fresh!! My only recommendation would be that everyone in the kitchen should were hair nest!!

We couldn't be happier with our cake from Luminary. We ordered a 10" lemon and blueberry cake for our wedding last month. The service and correspondence with the team was efficient, friendly and not overly complicated from start to finish. We tried a few other tastings and as with most wedding cakes, they were a little dry or too dense. But the cake from Luminary was without fault. Our guests commented on how delicious it was. It was light and fluffy and the icing was amazing! We opted for the seasonal foilage which was a great fit with simplicity of our theme. It all disappeared apart from the slice we saved ourselves for our 1st anniversary next year which we can't wait to have. Thank you so much for a great experience and our cake which left a lasting memory!! We will be visiting the bakery again soon!

Best sourdough in the area with lovely staff. It's super chewy and full of flavor. If you love sourdough that’s not too light and filling, this is the one! I think the coffee is a bit overpriced for what it is, but since I come here for the sourdough, it doesn't bother me that much.

On a posh road surrounded by council estates. This bakery had slightly bored staff and gap yaah customers. The goat cheese and red onion sandwich was well put together but was a bit much to be honest. Fairly pricey with a lemonade at just shy of £10.

Me and my friend for coffee which was super great coffee. The service was amazing such kind staff that loved to chat! The outdoor seating was fab as it is in a quiet area!

Yelp
There is a reason the Duchess of Sussex (Meghan) supports Luminary Bakery. Behind the scenes of this Hackney bakery you will find women from low income communities learning a craft. While the bakers and trainees provide baked goods to cafes throughout London, they also have this café (and one other, in Camden, I believe) for sampling cakes, croissants, coffee and other delectable foods. I tried the coffee and croissants (delicious!) and plan to order a cake for my mother in Cambridge when I'm there next week. Am giving five stars for delicious, quality products, friendly people - and for the good cause it's supporting. Yay, Luminary!
