Find Groceries and Provisions at These Philly Restaurants

"There are no shortage of great takeout options in Kensington and Fishtown, but the grocery offerings in these neighborhoods pale in comparison. Happily for those who prefer to stay close to home, rather than, say, braving the Acme parking lot, Luna Kitchen & Provisions provides a formidable selection of groceries to keep local fridges well stocked. Luna’s lineup ranges from Pennsylvania cheeses, non-dairy milks, and Beyond burgers to weeknight meal-makers like taco kits and boxed mac and cheese — all of which are organic, of course." - Caroline Coral

Google
Legit might be my favorite coffee spot in Philly. The food is amazing, and they have house-made pastries. The food itself encouraged me to meet the chef because I was so impressed with the recipes. My coffee was made to perfection everything felt tailor made just for me. I hope this gem stays low-key and doesn't get overwhelmed by crowds.

This place is amazing! The staff was very nice and the food was delicious. We decided to stopped by this restaurant and have breakfast. I would definitely recommend it to anyone :)

Google
Luna Café is an absolute gem in Philadelphia. Amazing vibes and ambiance as soon as you walk in the door. The espresso and cold brew coffee were both bold and fresh. The eggs and toast were fresh and delicious, also reasonably priced. Awesome staff, very friendly and accommodating.

Google
I tried Luna Café for the first time during a business meeting, and without a shadow of a doubt, I’ll be back. The manager, Mallory, is one of the most personable individuals I’ve ever met. You might walk in as a stranger, but after just a brief interaction with Mallory, you’ll feel like a regular. The food is delicious, and the space is cozy—like your favorite Sunday diner—with a modern flair. I can’t recommend Luna Café enough. If you’re searching for a “cafe near me” and happen to be in the area, you won’t regret stopping by. Come for the food, but I guarantee you’ll stay for the vibes.

Google
This place has fallen so flat over the past few years. This place used to be good 2 years ago but it has gone WAY downhill! Look at this sad excuse of a panini. It was small, looks nothing like the photos, and had no avocado. The chicken was oddly seasoned. I could have made a better sandwich myself. $16 for a sandwich that looks like it was made by a toddler. I used to order this sandwich all the time years ago and it was great, but not anymore. I have had similar issues with other items on their menu. HORRIBLE!

Google
I’m a regular and while I did like this place the first few years I’ve lived here, in the last year it’s reallly turned around. I really enjoy interacting with all the staff and I personally consider it the best coffee in the city. I’m always running off with a pastry. We tried their taco night and drinks recently they’ve added as well and enjoyed ourselves. Do not miss out on Luna!

Google
A cozy and well managed cafe and breakfast spot. I’ve stopped by for breakfast twice and have a splendid experience both times. I’d suggest their cappuccino and their breakfast bowl. Their menu is a great blend of breakfast classics and novel options.

Google
Really great service from the barista/server, and good food. I loved how the chicken was fried, and the turkey bacon sandwich was pretty bangin!

Yelp
Really loved my experience at Luna Cafe! Was a short wait but actually ran into a childhood from during the wait despite both visiting from out of town. Must be a pretty popular spot! The menu has something for everyone. The most memorable menu item for sure being the homemade pop tarts. WHOA!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been visiting Luna Cafe over the past year and still enjoy it! I love picking up unique pastries like homemade strawberry pop tarts in the mornings and using it as a brunch spot to take friends. Luna switches out the french toast with different flavors, so if there's one that looks interesting, you should get it while it lasts. Also, their breakfast tacos are bomb! Love the corn tortillas and cilantro aioli Note: Their coffee is La Colombe but it is like CRACK it is one of the few places that still wakes me up. You might get some grounds in your drink, though. Service has always been friendly and the restaurant has spacious, HEATED outdoor seating. Couldn't recommend it more for a good time.

Yelp
Brunch is a sport and Luna Cafe is playing to win! This place is tucked away between Fishtown/No Libs/Kensington. We drove over and found pretty easy street parking for a Saturday mid morning. Inside it's a fairly decently sized operation. Though it was a Saturday, we were able to get seats without waiting which makes me think this is a hidden gem! It's an interesting ordering process, where you can self seat, order and pay via the QR code, and the food is then delivered to you table side. It was really seamless and I enjoyed the no frills aspect of the food ordering. For the food itself - I ordered the quinoa bowl and my wife got a breakfast burrito. We both got some coffees and mimosas as well (they have different options for juices on the mimosas but were out of the grapefruit so we stuck with the class OJ for our drinks.) The food was solid and hit all the right spots. We really liked the cozy atmosphere and easy service. The food had great flavor and also the portions were ample! I'm hoping to come back for more brunching soon!

Yelp
This place was a bit out of my way but I'm glad I went and hope I get to again! The atmosphere and staff were pleasant & friendly and wow, the food was fresh, delicious, and fulfilling!

Yelp
Lovely place for breakfast or lunch. Lots of home baked items and healthy options, including smoothies and whole grains. I had the delicious breakfast bowl with potatoes, pico de gallo, cheese, some sort of secret sauce and added bacon and a fried egg. My son had the breakfast bagel. I also had a berry smoothie. There were no leftovers to take home. Friendly attentive service and good music. Wish I lived closer to enjoy more! 10/10

Yelp
This place is so cute! They added a covered outdoor space during the pandemic that's has a vintage relaxed atmosphere. Menu and ordering is done via QR code It was difficult with a large party that wanted to use cash. The waitstaff was helpful and nice. The food was delivered pretty quickly after ordering. It wasn't too crowded so we were able to stay past the 75 min limit. The food was excellent! Pancakes were light and fluffy with plenty fruit of choice added in. I ordered the breakfast sandwich that you could create yourself. I had the Philly muffin with egg, cheese, bacon and tomato. It was big! The egg was as big as the muffin so you actually had all ingredients in every bite. That's a win! The biscuits, gravy and egg was also good. Wine, beer and some cocktails are available. The server recommended a bottle of Prosecco and carafe a OJ for $25 rather than 2 mimosas at $10 each Definitely a good deal! We really enjoyed our Mothers Day brunch!

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. It was very cute inside and out and had an overall good atmosphere. The servers and baristas were nice, so no complaints there. The coffee prices were reasonable. The quality of espresso was smooth and good, was a decent cappuccino. My issue was with the food. The prices were very high compared to their reasonable coffee prices. The portions were small for the asking price. The pancakes were rubbery, flat, and too sweet to try compensating for it. The breakfast sandwich almost got it right, but missed the mark with a questionable sauce and a steep price. Overall, we recommend enjoying their coffee and welcoming atmosphere without the food.

Yelp
I was nervous at first to come here, because people said the food was bland and coffee watery, but I am so glad I didn't listen. I got just a black iced coffee, and it is sooo delicious and flavorful. The Tres Leches cake is insane- two of my favorite things done sooo well. It has a cute setup, the patio is sweet and would like to sit out there next. The person working was working alone with a full house, and still was kind and timely. I recommend this place to people who are in the area- or I'd say is worth traveling to.

Yelp
Stopped in here for brunch on a Saturday and easily got a table on their outside patio. You order and pay all online which I appreciate for efficiency. Coffee and food came out quickly, and they also gave us water for our pup. We loved all the food, I got the breakfast bowl which was very filling and we also split "mini" pancakes. These were some of the best pancakes I've ever had, so yummy. My husband got the avocado toast which was also very good. Their outdoor seating is covered and it looks like it has sides that come down for when it gets colder. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
It was my first time here and I didn't order much, so, I can only really speak to the service & atmosphere. The outdoor dining vibe was VERY cute! It was hot, it felt like their fans were spinning in the wrong direction because it was hotter than it actually was outside. Nonetheless, loved it. Also, we had a very nice server. She said it was her first day, but she was very kind and attentive. I ordered an espresso martini which was delicious...really creamy and a great balance between boozy & sweet. I also ordered fries--crispy, perfectly salted and nice portion. We also ordered a fruit bowl which was legit just watermelon that was overripe. Ick. Overall, I'd recommend...I will def be back.

Yelp
Just came here for the first time and can't wait to come back! I really liked the outdoor area, it felt super cozy with the plants and large windows. I liked the ordering system, super streamlined and convenient! Our server was friendly and helpful. I had the chicken and pancake dish and it was amazing. The chicken was very very crisp and flavorful. The gravy was amazing, my husband kept asking to take bites out of my plate. We are coming back this week and while I usually like to try different things out of the menu, I'm getting the chicken again! Another highlight is the cocktail selection, it goes beyond your basic mimosas and they all seem very tasty. I had the Paloma and would 100% recommend. I also tried the breakfast tacos and the buttermilk pancakes - you can't go wrong here, it was all very very well made and delicious. This is my new go to brunch spot!

Yelp
My 2nd time coming to Luna and my family and I were disappointed. The food was ok, but the service was horrible. Have you ever had the feeling of not being wanted? They served our food and did not check to see if it was complete; they did not give us enough water or check to see if we wanted more; huevos rancheros had fully cooked eggs and so on! Our serve either was aloof or simply did not feel like serving people who look like me. I am done

Yelp
This place is a whole vibe. Service is quick, the staff are friendly. The food is SO delicious! I can't describe how I'm eating and felt the need in my spirit to share my recommendation for this restaurant. It's that good. I will return!

Yelp
Me and my friends took a weekend trip to Philly and needed a brunch spot to eat at. We saw that Luna Cafe was a 5 minute walk from our Airbnb so it was perfect! I actually visited their other location (which I was told was sadly closed down) prior and loved it so I knew this would be good. It was so convenient that we went twice during the weekend. When we went on a Saturday morning it wasn't packed at all inside. They also have an outdoor seating that's covered with a screen that gets busier. The inside is pretty small but super cute with homey rustic decor. Two of us ordered french toast, my friend's had nutella and mine had fruits on top. Our other friend ordered the fried chicken and pancakes (odd). I LOVED my french toast. It had the perfect flavors and texture. The fruits tasted fresh too. We both liked our french toast. I also got a side of eggs. No complaints there. Our friend who had the fried chicken and pancakes thought it was a weird combination rather than the waffles so she ate it separate. For drinks I had the strawberry banana smoothie and loved it! Sorry I forgot to get a photo but it was a pretty big sized cup. I didn't finish it. My friend's had the chai latte and matcha latte. They loved them. For our second visit I had pancakes and peppermint tea and they were both delicious. I wish this spot was in NJ but if I visit Philly again I'll be at Luna's first thing!

Yelp
Best Turkey croissant sandwich I have ever had! I will be coming back !!!!!!!! YUMMMMMM

Macy W.

Yelp
I didn't know food could be so bland. The cold brew was decent but the other coffee drinks tasted so watered down and flavorless. Disappointing but the servers were great.
google avatar

Yelp
First time exploring Philly. Ran across this spot in Old City. It has a very nice outdoor nature area with tables to eat. The mini pancakes were amazing. I asked for strawberries and they actually put it on the skillet, so they are not just thrown on top. They were delicious!!!! The espresso milkshake is bomb! Chai latte and bagel breakfast sandwich is average. The yogurt parfait was good! The granola had cinnamon taste, but yogurt was a bit thin. Overall would recommend this place!
google avatar

Korrine C.

Yelp
Nice local cafe, good food options. I enjoyed my breakfast bowl it was healthy and light but i was still very full! The potatoes were good, it was a smaller portion than expected which was better for us to share as a side dish. Its small inside only about 5-6 tables and some counter seating, there is a larger covered outdoor area as well. You order via QR code and also pay the bill that way. They now sell natural wines by the bottle to go which is nice!
google avatar

Natalie Z.

Yelp
The breakfast bowl is a must have at Luna's Cafe! The bowl was bursting with flavor. I enjoyed my perfectly cooked egg, avocado and warm quinoa. But the cilantro aioli absolutely stole the show. I loved the taste of the aioli with the arugula salad. I will definitely be coming back and most likely getting this dish again because it was THAT good. Don't say I didn't tell you to get this bowl. You will be pleasantly surprised !! You're welcome

Yelp
A great addition to the area. I like the diamonds in the rough surrounded by construction. I hope people keep getting out to this cafe and help them grow. The coffee was good and the mugs were very cool. My little sister got some honey tea latte thing that was really good too. I got the sausage gravy biscuit meal which was ok but I really didn't taste any sausage. This is why I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5. I couldn't tell there was sausage. It just tasted like regular gravy on top of biscuits. The bites of everyone else's meals I took were excellent. I think if I went back and got something different I could do 5 stars. My mom got the breakfast bowl and I'm pretty sure that is what I will get next time. When the check came there was a double charge for the latte. The server took it rIght off though so it was totally cool. I don't check the check ever. My sister caught it. I encourage you to spend some money here.

Yelp
My usual bfast spot was closed for the week so I decided to try something new. I ordered online which was easy but delivery was Door Dash. I never use Door Dash Bc of the fees which this time included a service charge, a delivery fee, taxes and the tip was another $14 all together. Ordered scrambled eggs 2/10 very dry no flavor. Id give the Biscuits and sausage gravy 6/10 very creamy and greasy. May try again in person def not delivery.

Yelp
Good breakfast sandwiches! Quick service and delicious drinks! I would love to see them bring back happy hours! My fav order is sourdough with egg sausage cheese and Luna sauce.

CJ H.

Yelp
if you're feeling lucky, give 'em a shot. I won't be pushing mine here any longer. ordered a BLTA w/ side salad last week. bottom half of the salad was spoiled to the point of slime and avocado was far from fresh(brown!) went back today to inform them of my experience and give a chance for redemption. what did I get? $2 off my $20 bill and another largely inedible(mushy/slimy) salad. thanks for nothing, see ya never.‍

Yelp
Wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this place. It's one of those places you find in the cut. Which sometimes isn't the greatest. But when you step in, It's extremely welcoming, for sure a vibe they way they have everything set up. I ordered the fried chicken and pancakes. The chicken might've been fried too hard for me, but it was good for the most part. I'm not a fan of the gravy.. like.. at all.. I don't think it blends well with the cakes in my opinion. My date got the Nutella French toast. Apparently that thang was hitting cause she devoured it. I like the fact it was an easy check out. Order right through my phone then cashed out through my phone with Apple Pay. So that was a breeze. Overall. Chill place, next time I'll sit out side when it's not a thousand degrees out.
google avatar

Krina S.

Yelp
Huevos rancheros were delicious, as were the biscuits and gravy. Slightly smaller portion than I'd want with the latter for the price but still quite filling. Lots of drinks, both alcoholic and not. Very clean and cute interior. I will definitely return for brunch! I've also heard the happy hours are a great deal.
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Fabulous place. Super cute, pseudo shabby chic aesthetic. Staff are so friendly. Lots and lots of yummy things to put in your belly. We came for brunch and shared the pumpkin pancakes and breakfast bowl. Simply amazing. Well executed and plenty of food!! We also got hot chocolate- boozy and not boozy. Legend.
google avatar

Ambika S.

Yelp
The perfect affordable, yet delicious bfast spot in olde Kensington. Outdoor seating for my dogs, and just so adorable. Very simple menu, love it!

Bahdan K.

Yelp
On my opinion food is average . Put three star for low then average customer service , not the kindest place .

Shee G.

Yelp
I live there by the cafe and decided to give them a try since their customers always take up our parking most weekends! I was thinking if they're always crowded, the food and service must be good. I didn't even get to order food. When we walked in the staff was so impersonal and uninviting that we left!
google avatar

Kathleen F.

Yelp
Giving a 4 because I liked the vibe and the drink I got. My Bf loved his everything bagel sandwich. But my tofu scramble lacked flavor and was soggy, definitely don't recommend. Tried the bagel sandwich, was delicious and their sauce was really good on it. The bagel was excellent. The chai and matcha tea lattes were also very good, with the chai being more on the sweeter side! Would try again.
google avatar

Rebecca J.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and BYO our champagne - servers are really attentive and were OK with us staying for a long time. LOVE that you can order an affogato here! The food is delicious, and I recently ordered Luna through Good to Go, which is a food waste app. Got to sample some of their baked goods which were also delicious. Love supporting the owner and I hope Luna is here to stay in the neighborhood. The inside provisions store is also a real gem for the area for some quick groceries.
google avatar

Stefie C.

Yelp
Decided to came with a group of friends for brunch on New Years Day. Such an adorable set up. Cute benches and decorations. Be forewarned CASH ONLY. There is an ATM available on site. Portions were big and generous. We ordered chicken and biscuits, huevos rancheros, eggs my way, and Spanish frittata. The portion size were huge. I took home half my meal. The sausage gravy was flavorful especially with a little chalula hot sauce.
google avatar

Maria N.

Yelp
Hidden Gem! The perfect menu does exist! Fresh, Fun, and flavorful. This spot is simply the best hideaway. They have an adorable courtyard dining area that makes Sunday brunch feel like a trip to a botanical garden. Service was kind and attentive. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I can't believe I've lived so close to Luna Cafe for over two years and I only tried it for the first time this weekend. However I'm glad I found it because I think I found my new go-to spot!! I was craving takeout brunch and upon looking at Luna Cafe's menu, I couldn't even decide what I wanted because multiple dishes sounded so good to me. I decided on the Philly Muffin, which is an egg sandwich with gouda, avocado, turkey sausage, and aioli on a "philly muffin" which is basically just a big, delicious english muffin. This sandwich was delicious and flavorful! My boyfriend got a traditional egg/cheese/sausage sandwich and enjoyed it, but regretted getting it on a biscuit only because the sandwich didn't hold its form so well on it. We split a nutella toast as well, and that was SO good. Lastly I got an iced coffee and I enjoyed that very much. I ordered online using their very easy online ordering system, and it was ready about 20-30 min later. I picked it up to realize the cafe looked so cute and made me really want to eat there in person when they open back up. Next to try will be the breakfast bowl because it looks amazing! Can't wait to order from them again :)

Mike S.

Yelp
I had a really bad experience here. Staff was rude, and coffee was cold. I asked for another coffee, and the barista rolled her eyes at me. The 2nd coffee was also cold. I also had to wait over 5 minutes to order even though I was the only one in line.

April P.

Yelp
I am not a person to complain...but how does one serve burnt bacon? I should have never let the unacceptable plate touch the table. Should have taken a picture. However, the pumpkin pancakes were delicious.
google avatar

Stephnaie M.

Yelp
Luna is amazing! So great they are local esp with st bens leaving!! They help support the community. My only wish is a super flavorful, colorful vegan/plant based option. I feel like in a more conscious hood might be ideal. The staff and owners are so kind and helpful! They have coffee go visit check them out. Also their succulent collection will leave you so envious!
google avatar

Dina S.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast, I ordered the huevos rancheros as suggested by my server and I was very pleased. I also ordered the Mac and cheese for my kid and I ended up eating her leftovers every thing was very tasty and fresh. The decor is very neat it kind of feels like you are at an aunts house they are so creative and welcoming.
google avatar

Alexa S.

Yelp
If you're in Philly stop by Luna Cafe and have the biscuits and gravy; it was delicious. I loved every bite. The breakfast burrito was also delicious. On another note the cappuccino was absolutely delicious. The ambiance is cool too; easy going staff and welcoming.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here for lunch with my girl on a Monday around noon. It's a nice little place. I got the smoked Gouda and turkey on a croissant and a cup of tomato bisque. The soup wasn't my style, but the sandwich was good! And so was the green smoothie. My girl got a blt with fries. Fries were great but the blt was a bit dry. Overall I enjoyed my experience there and would return. 8.2
google avatar

Alice J.

Yelp
It's always consistent here! Breakfast food never disappoints and love the vibes in the back for outdoor seating. So convenient and tempting to grab breakfast here when you only live 3 blocks down!
google avatar

Christian C.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. We Got up and left after waiting 20 mins without being even approached. Disappointing as we were with our 9 year old on his birthday. Very nice place and good atmosphere. Guess it wasn't our day to try. Hopefully, if I ever do go back I won't have the same experience.

Safari T.

Yelp
My daughters and I saw this cute cafe in the cut, and thought we go in for a try. Food was very good, so was the smoothies. Super bomb cappuccino, but I must admit the service was absolutely TRASH, the elder lady there act as though we shouldn't be there. She wasn't rude but she didn't talk to us at all, so I guess you can call that rude! I like the place and food but I will come back, I like to spend my money where I'm welcomed.
google avatar

Priya B.

Yelp
Happy about this new neighborhood brunch spot! Service was excellent and we loved the cute hipster vibe inside. We ordered the breakfast burrito and an egg sandwich. I have to admit, the food wasn't spectacular (3/5 stars) BUT it's definitely a place I would come back to. There just wasn't too much flavor. However, everything did taste healthy and fresh, which we loved. I'm excited to come back and try something on the sweet menu! The coffee is delicious too. They have a pretty large specialty coffee and tea menu to choose from. Oh, and cash only! But there is an atm inside.
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
Man, this place was great before but they've gotten much much better. I always get the breakfast sandwich, and you can taste the quality of ingredients used. One of the highlights of my week. I didn't buy them (trying to watch what I eat) but today they had what looked like apple cider donuts and strawberry shortcake and it took all my willpower for the day not to buy, they looked THAT GOOD. Service is courteous but not overbearing, friendly but not off putting and phony like so many newer businesses in the area. The people who work there feel genuine. They also now have a range of groceries and cool stuff like candles and succulents and lip balm and stuff if you like. Luna is really a wonderful spot, food and service are outstanding. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Sean R.

Yelp
Place seems friendly enough, but they should try not to have it run by only teenagers who don't know anything about the food and drinks they are serving or preparing. Who on earth makes a hot americano with Cold water? Who resolves this not by making a new one (or asking a qualified staff member to), but instead using the milk frother to 'warm' it up? Walked away with a Luke warm watered down latte which is exactly what I didn't want when I ordered an americano. Oh yeah, tried the muffin I bought, and it's an inedible paste, so maybe the food ain't so great either. Consider yourself warned.

Josh R.

Yelp
This place is dope. They've got plenty of outdoor space, delicious cocktails, and the vibe is just chef's kiss. Be sure to check it out if you're anywhere near North Philly. Probably my favorite cafe in that area now.
google avatar

Stephen G.

Yelp
Lunas is a great local spot that we've come to for breakfast three times, once to-go and twice dine-in. The outdoor patio is perfect for a weekend brunch, and is never too crowded. The chicken and biscuits are a must try, but you can't go wrong with anything we've tried. The restaurant is CASH ONLY. Dogs are welcome on the patio as well! We will be coming back again and again!
google avatar

Yelp
I've regularly ordered from the market location and it is always fantastic. First time ordering from this location and it was well below standards. Wrap on the breakfast burrito was old, dry and falling apart, pancakes were undercooked and inedible, egg on the breakfast bowl was substantially over-fried. Not really sure how the meal fell so short, given how good the food usually is from Luna Cafe of Market. I tried calling but wasn't able to speak to anyone.
