Google
Luna Rooftop Bar is hands down the best rooftop in Portland — maybe even the only one — and it’s an absolute gem. The space is gorgeous, making it the perfect spot to kick off a night out in Portland or to relax before a sunset cruise. Romantic, intimate, and peaceful all at once. The food is fantastic. The lobster fritters… holy cow, a must-try! The tuna tartare bites were also fresh and delicious. Drinks were equally impressive — the bramble and bourbon cocktail was perfectly balanced, refreshing without being too minty, and just right for a hot summer day. Between the views, the vibe, and the friendly service, Luna is a blast. Highly recommend if you’re in Portland and want something memorable.

Google
The space and views are incredible. I only had an espresso martini and loved it. The bar menu is extensive and unique. The staff was nice, but didn’t really check on me and I was sitting at the bar. I was impressed on the food options for a roof top bar. Overall an unique space in Portland.

Google
The best cocktail bar view in Portland. Great Apps and Cocktails. A must if you’re visiting Portland and want to view and taste everything!!!!!! Go to the top and be amazed.

Beautiful atmosphere and the drinks are good most days. The attention to detail is lacking as I just sat at a table for over 20 minutes without anyone coming by to take my order. A waitress stopped to ask the couple beside me if they were okay but then walked away after looking at me. So I sat for a bit longer and left. Such a shame.

Google
Space has a wonderful view outside, limited exterior seating (prepare for a bit of a wait). Drinks were about average on price (slightly stingy/small), bartenders were quick to service though. Docking 2 stars mainly for how overbooked/slow the outdoor wait staff was. We waited about 30 minutes once seated to even get water/an order in and it was apparent the outdoor staff was overbooked/running thin (saw a couple tables leave who got seated after us due to no one coming). Otherwise nice spot, and great on a nice day though your mileage may vary.

Google
My go-to summertime bar in Portland. Good food, great view, but the drinks steal the show. Mikey was fantastic. Attentive, personable, you can tell he’s had a lot of experience in the industry and knows how to make someone feel taken care of. Speaking of, yo Mikey, can I come take care of YOU? Stud.

Google
The atmosphere was pretty cool. It's a nice spot to chill at the end of the night. The menu left much to be desired. It's more of a place to get drinks and lounge than it is to get a decent bite along with a drink. If that's what you're looking for, then I recommend it. But I personally won't be returning due to the price vs. quality of what you get

Google
I went here on Thursday had an espresso martini which was amazing, not to mention real espresso is thee only way to go! The bartender Mikey had made it and I will for sure come back for another in the near future. He made me feel very welcomed and kepted me entertained with all his funny stories working in Bar Harbor. I used to go there as a child so it really hit home!! Thanks Mikey for making my day!! And the view from the roof top is amazing! Thanks for the spectacular hospitality and view.

Yelp
Located on the rooftop of the Hilton Canopy Hotel and conveniently located to many downtown stores and bars. We had a dinner reservation up the street and decided to use up some time here at Luna Rooftop. We ordered a bottle of wine and the tuna tartare appetizer. Both were excellent and we enjoyed them with the harbor view. The hostess at the front wasn't the most friendliest person we've come across, but the bartenders and our waitress were great. We highly recommend a stop here and definitely request a table on the balcony, if possible. Cheers!

Yelp
This is a rooftop bar that has indoor/outdoor. We were not able to get to go outside I heard it is a small area. We sat at a high top that was free. We did not have reservations here. It is a part of the canopy hotel. This is a nice bar with a cool vibe/ atmosphere. I had a hugo spritz to drink which was good. The Bartender was nice but a tad rushing me but just a little bit. The reason for the 3 stars is that the hostess was not all that friendly. It was also a bit hard to hear. I feel that most hosts/ hostesses should be a tad friendly as they are the first people who interact with guests at bars/restaurants. I know we are all human and have our off days but from what I heard from others is that this place has had a history of not so friendly hostesses. The music here was good.

Yelp
It's a rooftop bar, and given the expected crowd, I didn't have high hopes for attentive service. But to my surprise, the waiter was fantastic--thoughtful and patient, even with a solo guest like me. He took the time to follow up on my questions on the origin of the items on the menu. I kept it simple: a local beer, oysters harvested just a couple of miles away, and a special lemon cheesecake, which I paired with Grand Marnier. The balcony seating was the cherry on top--perfect for taking in the sweeping views of the bay. A lovely spot to wind down after a day of sightseeing.

Yelp
If you're looking to grab a drink with a view this place is perfect! It's a little harder to find since the entrance is inside the Hilton hotel but it's worth finding. We sat right on the side that was overlooking the water and we were able to see a ton of the town too. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area.

Yelp
Luna Rooftop Bar: Great Vibes and Tasty Bites Luna Rooftop Bar is a fun spot for drinks and appetizers with a great view of the water and downtown. There are plenty of seating options--at the bar, high tops, lounge chaises, and outdoors--making it a perfect summer hangout. Service was solid, and the wings and chips with onion dip were delicious. A great spot to relax, enjoy the view, and snack on tasty bites!

Yelp
This is a really nice spot! In addition to the outdoor seating area, there's also a pretty solid indoor area. It's the kind of place you could go to for all different types of occasions - a date, girls night, birthday, etc. We mostly went for drinks, since that felt like more of the vibe there. The espresso martinis hit the spot. We also got a little cake, which was delicious! The service was good overall and we had a great time. Cool place!

Yelp
all the staff were incredibly friendly and the view of the boats could not be beat. saw some distant fireworks from here on Fourth of July. notable menu items would be the spinach artichoke dip, the peach burrata salad, and the crème brulee cheesecake.

Yelp
Went here with a couple of girlfriends and sat outside after a short wait at the bar. Outdoor space is still lovely - comfy spaces and nice views - but the service and food menu were not great. We were given room temperature water, and ordered a couple of apps from the very limited menu. The spicy-make-your-lips numb wings were supposed to come with a ranch dipping sauce according to the menu. When the wings arrived, no sauce. I tried flagging down a server but the two ladies cleaning off a high- top didn't see me gesturing, so I got up and went to the hostess station to request the missing sauce. They said "we can get that for you", but no apology, when a server brought it, it was the same aioli that came with the fries, not a ranch dipping sauce. When our assigned server came to our table, I mentioned that the wings hadn't come with the sauce - she cut me off and said with an attitude that it was a new menu and the chef wasn't aware. Then walked off. No apologies from any of the staff. As my companion said "a simple sorry goes along way". With blah food, expensive drinks, and poor service, I can and have found better places in Portland with a view.

Yelp
Great atmosphere in an intimate setting with a wonderful view. We only ordered drinks while at Luna...specifically the espresso martini and an almond martini. Drinks were good - a little pricier than drinks at bars in the surrounding area but that's to be expected considering it's a "rooftop lounge". We didn't get to fully experience all of Luna due to limited seating availability outside with the fires but the indoor area was just as cozy!
google avatar

Yelp
We decided to check this place out since it was basically the only rooftop bar in old port. They offer a first come first serve seating where we came around 10pm and the seating were filled. We waited about 15 minutes and ordered drinks at the bar by the time we sat down. Since we were in the corner the server didn't see us and I had to get someone. Overall, drinks were great and the views were nice! Drinks were okay and fairly pricey. Great spot to look at the harbor.

Yelp
This spot was really a gorgeous location with hit or miss service. First night we went we had a wonderful guy as our waiter who was attentive, filled up water often, and always came back quickly with drinks. The second time around we had a waitress who disappeared for 25 minutes at a time- we ended up only getting one drink cause it took so long to even get one drink, let alone two. Food wise- lobster tostadas, chicken skewers, and truffle fries were a hit. Lobster arancini were good but could use more sauce. Drinks- bikini szn, any gin drink, and old fashion were great. I surprisingly didn't love the espresso martini on tap but it wasn't bad. The mojito on tap was awesome though!

Yelp
This was our 4th time at Luna, but the first time back post baby. We were seated quickly in the outdoor section, and service was fast and friendly! The ambience was on-trend and fun, even with the pouring rain. We had the Truffle Fries (fantastic!) And the steamed Carnitas Buns (okay- probably would not get again though). I had the BKNI SZN drink, which was refreshing and tart, and oh so pretty to look at!
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
Very cool rooftop but service lacks. The person at the front was a little rude when we were trying to ask if we could move our table to a different spot and then another server who was much nicer said it would be no problem. The drinks are a bit over priced and not that good in my opinion. Just too strong or not enough balance to make it feel like a really good cocktail. The fire pits however if you can snag one are such a cool spot to hangout at!

Yelp
We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated inside as it was packed. Good view of the harbor. Good selection of craft cocktails. My husband loved that they have big rocks. We had a very friendly and helpful server. Fun spot with a great view.

Yelp
We were so excited to try this place because it came as a highly recommended place. It is gorgeous and the drinks are delicious. The ambiance was also very chill and good vibes. HOWEVER, the hostesses were not very nice and apparently they've gotten complained about before. Change your attitude you're in the service industry. Prob won't ever go back

Yelp
We came here twice during our stay at the Canopy Portland waterfront and both times were exceptional. The views are gorgeous, the interiors are so well done, and the ambiance is incredibly lively (even during the offseason). We tried the cheeseboard, charcuterie board, wings, cab and lunch beer the first time. Everything was delicious, but the cheeseboard and charcuterie board were our favorite. Our server was so kind, attentive and made an effort to make the night before my birthday special. She was incredibly personable and kind - wish I got her name! The second time we went, Jory was amazing. I typically don't like simple syrup / anything super sweet, and I was tempted to try the draft mojito. Jory went out of his way to make it delicious. He proved himself further, by making the best spicy skinny margarita I have had in my life. Despite being busy with multiple tables, he went out of his way to chat with us and tell us about the area. He was so kind and gave us exceptional service. I don't think there are many hotel bars I would go as far as to recommend, but this one far exceeds any hotel bar. It's at the level of a swanky rooftop bar and worth a visit!!
google avatar

Dustin S.

Yelp
Quite possibly the worst staff I've encountered. Not only did the hostess laugh at our disabled friend, she didn't even put our name in the system for a table after waiting 20 minutes. The general manager accused my partner of not paying for him bar tab, even though his credit card was ran. We ran I to friends the same night that had been there and complained about how terrible staff was to them as well. Needless to say we will not going back.

Yelp
We were fortunate enough to stay at the Canopy by Hilton to have this place right on our (6th) floor! Arrived at 5pm on a Thursday and the outside patio was PACKED! I thought wow this place should be cool. Fortunate to grab a barstool at the outside counter to my left was the pier and to my right was the city. We tried a variety of appetizers and cocktails - all of which were a complete hit. The place has a cool vibe and seems exclusive. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink and it did not disappoint, great views, drinks, and customer service! Highly recommend!

Yelp
We are Hilton Members, Diamond, I say that to explain that we stay at a lot of Hiltons and are well traveled. We come to Portland often but this is our first stay at The Canopy. We normally stay at the Hilton further down the warf. We have been very impressed with our stay thus far. We had toured this hotel in March of this year during a previous visit and where excited about this upcoming stay. Before we even arrived we were sent an email letting us know we have been upgraded and are loving the room. We decided to try the rooftop bar, Luna, and it is lovely. The charcuterie board was very good with the veggies haben been pickled to perfection. Our only complaint is that my husband asked about the old fashioned and inquired about the different whiskies that are available. The waitress said " I just put the order in I don't know about whisky". When I suggested my husband ask the bar tender the waitress said " they just ring drinks in as well and do not know the difference of the types of Angels Envy they offer." I would think someone would be able to answer the question.

Yelp
Nice small bites place, friendly and professional staff. But let's face it, your going for the view and to see and be seen. Eclectic and fun, water and city views from the roof. It was busy with lots of movement; people waiting at the bar, moving to couches and table areas.. I wouldn't go here for a quiet or family dinner for example, but for a more "metro" night out.

Yelp
While staying in this actual hotel, the Canopy by Hilton, we figured we'd have a night cap at the rooftop bar and order some snacks. The wait at 10pm for outdoor seating was 25-30min so we went to our room on the same floor and waited for a text. The hostess was very friendly and gave us a great table outside looking over the harbor. This seemed like an overrated bar that has overpriced drinks and food just because they claim to be on the roof. Neither of us enjoyed our drinks. My wife had a glass of wine which actually came in a can. It was the Wild Maine Blueberries Bluet, and she hated it. It was the driest wine we have ever tasted, which seemed weird. I had the Sailors Delight and while I drank it, it wasn't my favorite and I wouldn't order it again. On their website, the cocktails are actually under the shareable plates menu, not the cocktail menu. We ordered the Orange Furikake Popcorn and the Tuna Tataki. The popcorn was basically caramel corn that eventually got a little spicy. It was all crumbs of popcorn though, like the bottom of a bag, rather than full pieces, which was annoying. The tuna was average but you'd think it'd be incredible considering we are on the water in Maine. Overall, nothing really made us want to come back. We stopped because it was convenient to our hotel room.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing rooftop bar in the old port, with great views of the water and city. Well pricey, the food and drinks didn't disappoint. Tuna tartar was incredible and fresh!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful space with beautiful views. Full bar and great list of cocktails. Had to wait downstairs at the shop yard where we got a drink for 30 mins before we were seated but I'm sure that you can make reservations and get in sooner. I'm sure there was less traffic there (visited in March) but I could see it being very full in summer months. Our waiter was great and very helpful. We did get the cheese board and we really liked it but it wasn't what we were expecting and we felt like we didn't get enough for what we paid for it. All in all a great place for pre-dinner cocktails/drinks!
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
The Luna Rooftop bar is a must see destination for a drink and snack! The views are amazing and restaurant set up is so sleek and welcoming. The cheese plate included a variety of cheeses, delicious fruit jelly, nuts, etc. Yummy and a perfect app for two! We loved the view, service and ambience! Loving our visit to Portland, too!
google avatar

Caleb M.

Yelp
This will be a spot that I believe I will frequent quite often anytime outside of busy tourist season. Not a knock against this place but it will knowingly be overcrowded and too busy during the summer months. Rightfully so, as I would recommend this spot to anyone visiting Portland as the view is awesome (especially at sunset) and the drinks and food were good without being too overpriced. It by no means is cheap but roughly $13-$16 for a drink and the dessert we got was around $10. Did not try any of the other food besides dessert. The staff was friendly but seemed a bit busy with a large party that arrived after so won't hold it against them too much. Nicely designed interior inside and a good amount of heaters and fire pits for outside. Nice addition to the Portland waterfront area.

Esmeralda B.

Yelp
Delicious drinks, amazing oysters, superb view! Highly recommend for a pre-game to the night.

JT E.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere! Music was enjoyable, but not over bearing. Food tasted as amazing as I hoped it would. Service.....the service was attentive without being over bearing.

Yelp
This rooftop bar is situated on the 6th floor of the Canopy by Hilton Portland Waterfront hotel. Luckily, I was able to snatch a 4pm reservation and was seated on the outdoor patio. The view was beautiful overlooking the Portland harbor. I ordered some raw oysters and a beer on draft. The raw oysters came with hot sauce, cocktail sauce, lemon and lime. The oysters were fresh and delicious. It was definitely a nice place to chill and relax after a long day of sightseeing.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Such a great space! Great views all around. Just had drinks but am looking forward to coming back for snacks.
google avatar

Courtnie C.

Yelp
The oysters were nice. The aioli for the fries was very good but the lobster roll lacked any flavor. The haiku cocktail I got wasn't tasty.
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
Came here on a beautiful weekend. About a 45 min wait so we got drinks at the other bar on the main level of the hotel. Once upstairs we were seated outside on the balcony-score! I didn't check out the main restaurant very much because I was so hungry and tired- but at quick glance this is a really nice spot but not pretentious. I had a refreshing non alcoholic beverage, J had something he really liked and we placed an order for arancini balls, something else and oysters- all phenomenal. It was our first time trying oysters and I'm so happy we did so in Maine. The arancini balls were on a bed of like an almond pesto thing- it was great. It was a little off putting how the long wait was that early in the day but it was worth it. The views are nothing to write home about- other than the views of the water, it's pretty chill. I can see Luna being a great spot to catch up for a quick bite or drinks. If you have some time in between activities, I'd say definitely check it out and have some oysters!
google avatar

Rodney M.

Yelp
Just a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. The menu is a bit small and specific, but nice to hang with a co-worker or friends and forget about what is happening down below (street level). Plenty of street parking and easy to access. Take the elevator and walk right into a nicely decorated lounge. They have a great outdoor seating area as well, so you can enjoy the coastal breeze and smells.
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
Tasty cocktails with a decent view of the water. We arrived at Luna Rooftop Bar when they opened on a Wednesday and snagged a great table, but the other outdoor tables were taken within the hour. The view of the water is nice for Portland, and most of the outdoor tables are shaded. I tried the "XXX-presso martini", and "Up Your Alley"cocktails, and we split the truffle fries. Both cocktails were excellent. The truffle fries were perfectly seasoned and the sauce was delectable (although there was not much truffle flavor). Overall, I would definitely recommend Luna rooftop bar for cocktails with a bit of a view.

Nick V.

Yelp
Come here for the views and the ambiance, both of which are great. The food was "meh" and cocktails that we ordered were pretty poor. Mine was so syrupy I had to send it back, and even a dirty martini was not well made. If you want to go for the views I'd stick to beer/wine and skip the food.
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
Great place to meet up with a mid-size group! We got there around 4p and settled in to the one of the cozy couch /chairs cocktail table areas. There were 12 of us and we all fit perfectly around the cocktail table with a few added small round stool style chairs added in between chair/couches. The drink selection is great...very creative, something for everyone. The service was very attentive, regularly checking in on who needed another, and making sure late arrivals ordered. Beautiful view of Casco Bay. It wasn't sunny when I went, but there are covered sail style coverings for shade. Very nice place for a drink or two. We didn't try any food, but will look forward to doing that next time. Will definitely go back.

Jojo K.

Yelp
Wow this place is the best hot spot in the Old Port. Highly impressed and Jory (sp?) was an exceptional server. Actually, the literal best. Huge fan! Will be back when I'm back in town!
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
Service was weak. Staff didn't seem to know how to deal with the volume. But the real issue was the low quality food. The chicken wings were more along the lines of fast food and Brussel sprouts were oily and gross. Had wr not been staying at the hotel this place would not be an option. The only redeeming quality is the view.
google avatar

PattyDo L.

Yelp
Always great being in Luna Rooftop Bar, it's will be more comfortable and enjoyable to drink if you're there in summer.
google avatar

Olivia W.

Yelp
This bar is overrated (and loud) in my opinion. The views are nice (not great) if you can get a seat outside, but those are hard to come by and not great for groups over 4 people. The drinks were all watered down and service was slow. It also gets pretty warm up there in the evening with the windows open and there's surprisingly no breeze since it's blocked by surrounding buildings.
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
The rooftop bar is located inside the Hilton Canopy. It was by far my favorite part of the hotel and area. Six floors up with a full bar, inside cozy seating that included several couch areas and a fireplace, as well as open outdoor seating and firepits. Me and my friends came up for a drink before heading out, but we also needed a quick bite. We tried the kung pow cauliflower and burrata. Both were very good and came out quickly. There is a pretty good wine selection and my sauvignon blanc was the best of the night. I will note this place was pricey, and there was no "happy hour." I suppose you are paying for the rooftop city experience, which is understandable. Servers were friendly and attentive. I would have loved to return for a night cap but I was here on a Thursday and the Bar closes at 10pm. Should I find myself in this area again in the summer months, I would love to return!
google avatar

Tavia G.

Yelp
This place is lovely! The staff are very welcoming, there is an array of different types of seating available, and the drinks are delicious! Additionally, for the upscale environment the drinks really aren't too overly priced, most being $15. The outdoor patio was even surprisingly usable on a cold winter day due to the heating lamps, the fire, and the blankets they offer their guests. Absolutely will return.

rhonda o.

Yelp
I can not comment on the food or drinks. We were never acknowledged by anyone after being seated. After waiting just shy of 30 minutes, we left. It was not too busy, we arrived soon after opening. No one seemed to care when we left.

Marina G.

Yelp
What a hidden Gem in Portland!!! Had the Bless your heart cocktail and some oysters and shrimp cocktail. everything was so fresh and delicious. we had the nicest bartender, Jamie. she made us feel special and was super attentive. Awesome place for date night. Jamie is amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Omg how I loved this place. It was me and my girlfriend first time in Portland, Maine and we are some crazy Oyster heads. Oh how we were so in love with the oysters. We ended up getting rounds. They were so so so delicious. When I come back I will be coming straight to this place. Also the people where very friendly that we shared the outside fire place with. And the server was amazing as well. I will highly recommend this place. It is nice and romantic and we caught a full moon :)

Yelp
DISAPPOINTMENT GALORE!!! THE WORST!!! We came to Luna for the view and drinks. It was empty but for 3 tables at 5:15 pm on Sunday. Nobody was coming to their bar. NOT ALLOWED to sit on the big couches with the lovely view. They said ONLY for large parties - so they tried to sit us right next to the hostess stand - as far away from any view as possible - or - facing away from the outdoors on a long bench seat. We had father's Day gifts and bags and we were treated like crap. So we left!!! Just an FYI - played golf with PORTLAND MAYOR Dion and his wife earlier that day. I'll be sure to tell them what a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE we had. You got 18 year old rude hostesses, making $15 an hour, running your business. Don't bother coming . We did have a fabulous dinner at the Grill Room-drinks at their bar.
google avatar

William R.

Yelp
Great hotel rooftop bar. There was a bit of a wait, but we were able to waitlist and get called up in 20 minutes to sit outside. It looks like it's possible to do this with Resy as well. Once seated, we ordered a Pierre Ferrand 1840 cognac and the persephone cocktail to drink. I was told that this cognac is one of the bartender's favorite. To eat, we got a half dozen oysters and the barbacoa. Service was quick and the oysters were fresh. The barbacoa was good, but the polenta that came with it was even better. The barbacoa portion was also pretty substantial. All in all, nice rooftop bar. Definitely worth it if you're staying in the hotel.

Yelp
Super cool bar at the Canopy Hotel. Beautiful views of the water. Prices are high but the drinks were perfect. We'll stop again for snacks so I'll update when I have more to report.

Yelp
Stopped into Luna on out anniversary after dinner. It was a Friday night around 8 and we were surprised and pleased to score a table for two outside on the deck! Staff was very nice and accommodating. Overall, the place was packed both inside and outside, and while the inside had a comfortable ambience, there are some VERY nice bars around town that are less crowded, slightly less expensive with a more expansive food selection, so was unsure what the allure was, as when sitting inside the open air view is not accessible AT ALL. On the other hand, sitting on the outside deck WAS absolutely worth it! We ordered homemade chips and clam dip, ricotta fritters with lemon curd and a strong whiskey cocktail, that I don't remember the name of. On the outside deck, we had a lovely time, excellent view and we LOVE LOVE LOVED the homemade chips and dip!!! While on the deck, we noticed a large couchy fire pit section and thought it would be an excellent location for a special birthday/gathering. Overall, really liked the vibe at Luna and will definitely return!!
