I had lunch at Lunchbox a few weeks ago and it was okay. The prices are a bit too high for a sandwich. I had the virginian sandwich and the crabs and shells soup. The soup was excellent, but the portion is very small for the price. In addition, I only had half of the sandwich because it was just too much food. For the soup, sandwich and a drink, the cost was around $17. However, even with the high price, the sandwich was delicious and I would totally have it again. Also, the staff are very nice (at least when I was there). They didn't have attitudes like they would rather be elsewhere but they weren't overly friendly when trying to help you pick out a meal. They were very good about answering questions, but I'm sure they just wanted me to pick out a meal. If you skipped this place, you wouldn't be missing out on much.

A terrible experience. Had a gift card and the cashier had no idea how to use it after I had ordered. She told me because of that my lunch would be free. I said thank you and sat down at a table. Ten minutes later, she came over and asked for the gift card again, which I gave to her. She said she had spoken to someone on the phone and now knew what to do, so she charged me for the meal, with no apology whatsoever. After that, I waited 22 minutes to get my salad and sandwich! The lady who brought my food blamed the delay on the guy making the sandwiches 'running his mouth instead of working'. Did I mention there was only one other customer in the room? And additional insult: the salad was inedible. NEVER again, they have lost a customer forever!

Tasty sandwiches, though a little pricey. Definitely better than Subway.

I enjoyed my first couple of experiences here, however my last few visits have made me not want to go back. The service was extremely slow- I waited 40 minutes, which basically took up my entire lunch break, & they also skimped on my favorite ingredient within the salad. So, it wasn't too appealing anymore- I don't think I'll be back. The staff however, is wonderful- they just need more people working during the lunch rush!

I really enjoy this lunch spot. I am not a heavy lunch eater so the soup sizes work great for me. Each of the four soups are delicious (my favorite is Eastern Shore - Yum!). Quick and friendly service. This restaurant has been added to my weekly lunch rotation.

I had breakfast there twice. Good but nothing special. I also had the pleasure of working for Voltaggio, worst job I ever had. He doesn't seem to think his servers need to make a living. Tip out was extremely high and we even had to turn in our cash tips at the end of the shift. Totally anal chef.

I had the pork belly BBQ sandwich and it was amazing! Loved the cole slaw and the overall flavor of the meat. The baked potato salad was good, too, but I would probably get a different side next time, as it was very rich.

After retail therapy in upscale Friendship Heights (Chevy Chase Pavilion) you can get replenished at the Lunchbox. The gourmet sandwiches are full and filling. I had a ham and tasty cheese panini and licked my fingers. My reason for three stars is that the it's at high-end prices given the location. City gal on budget needs to save when she eats... especially after she shops ;)
