Catering to Downtown Detroit's breakfast and lunch hour crowds, Lunchtime Global (located in Campus Martius' First National Building) offers a wide variety of sandwiches, daily specials and amazing soups for the most discriminating of tastes.
Lunchtime Global may be one of those hidden little gems that you'd normally wander right past. And truth be told, had I not started my new job in the First National Building, I'd probably have written this little bistro off as "just another sandwich shop."
This spot always has an interesting quiche of the day, great homemade bagels and some really interesting and quick sandwich options. When I'm not being the carnivore I normally am, I opt for a half sandwich and soup combo. Usually, I go with the Kingpin (Fresh buffalo mozzarella, roasted red peppers, red onions, tomato slices and basil pesto on Panini) or the The Jerk (Jamaican-style chicken breast, with tomato, red onions, romaine lettuce and garlic herb mayonnaise).
This place also has a great selection of daily soups (usually four) that always includes a vegan and and a gluten free option. My favorites are the Thai Peanut and the Black Bean. They also make a pretty mean Boston Clam Chowder.
Prices are reasonable, the staff is really quick, good with substitutions and you can even call your order in ahead of time. If you're not up for one of the menu items they have a great Ala Cart bar with everything from yogurt parfaits to ready made salads and chips.
Quick, quality food for the businessman or woman on the go. Keep it up Lunchtime Global. You've got plenty of fans in Campus Martius!
