Visited on a random Wednesday morning for breakfast and took a seat on one of the two seat tables against the wall. A few other patrons sat along the counter eating and drinking coffee. The place was relaxed, dim, and lovely. The server was perfectly nice and I already had my order decided so in a flash I had a perfect iced tea and my ticket was in a ticket for a corned beef hash combo. The plate was delicious with big shreds of corned beef, properly cooked potatoes and onions, and the entire eggs Benedict alongside. On the Benedict the yolk was runny and every part of the dish was hot, seasoned, and hearty. The price was totally fair for what I got, walking out paying something like 25 bucks total and I'd gladly return. Go here to fill up on classics a cut above.

Really nice experiencing dining here. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious!!! Big quantity as well. I ordered the corn beef omelette while my gf ordered the Irish breakfast.

Old school diner with amazing food. What a cool place. I will be back. A must visit .

What more can you say about a classic breakfast spot that has been around for years. Every time I’m in town, I make a pitstop here for breakfast, so should you

Google
Absolutely amazing little breakfast spot. Located at great location in downtown San Rafael and is one block away from 2 of the public parking structures. It is a pretty small spot so it could be packed at times and tight quarters. The food is absolutely amazing especially for the price that they charge. We got the huevos rancheros and the eggs Benedict with corn beef. I would definitely say the highlight was the corn beef and the eggs Benedict.. service was quick and they were always good on refills

On 4th Street in Downtown San Rafael is a narrow building that’s home to a great breakfast place. We visited Lundy’s Home Cooking on a Saturday morning and were seated right away. There are a couple tables in the front window, several tables for 2 along the side wall and counter seats overlooking the grill. I ordered the Omelette with Chicken Apple Sausage and Cheese which was served with potatoes and choice of toast; my wife ordered their Eggs Benedict, also served with potatoes and toast. ass

Service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious. In my omelette, the sausage (and cheese) was plentiful - and the potatoes were just as I like them, slightly crunch. My wife ordered their traditional Eggs Benedict. Now I know she is a Benedict aficionado and particular about the dish - she said it was very tasty! They have quite an extensive breakfast menu - with some unique choices like Fajita Omelette, Irish Breakfast, and a Chorizo Scramble. We’d happily return for a breakfast in the future.

Google
I love the corned beef hash here. The service is good, the food is hot and the restaurant itself is cute and quaint.

Google
Nice simple diner, probably serving good food to most customers. The counterman made fresh coffee for me, which was nice. Unfortunately, my experience went downhill from there. I ordered an omelet that should have come with a sauce. I received it without the sauce, but with the explanation that they were out of the sauce. No mention of the missing item when the order was taken. No mention when the order was presented to the cook. Nothing. Just an incomplete omelet. A full-price incomplete omelet. I'm sure that if the sauce was available, that the omelet would have been very good. And the server was nice. The coffee was good. But this is not the way to treat a customer.

Yelp
Friendly service and a quaint diner-esque atmosphere. Unfortunately I think I ordered poorly because while the corned beef hash one someone else ordered was great, the chicken fried steak wasn't something I enjoyed: I'll try again and order some of the more traditional fare.

Yelp
We were back and this time brought our daughter to enjoy a post birthday breakfast. This time around we ordered their chicken fried steak breakfast, their Le Croissant sandwich with fries, and a 2 egg, bacon, and banana pancakes combo. Everything was spot on delicious. I wanted to originally get their Monte Cristo, but our server didn't recommend it. I'll trust the server's judgment, but dang I was so curious about it!

Yelp
4 Stars - No Frills, All Flavor - A True Neighborhood Gem Lundy's Home Cooking - San Rafael, CA After a night out on the town, this is exactly the kind of breakfast spot you hope to find--hearty, honest, and deeply rooted in the local scene. Lundy's is small, so grab a good seat when you walk in. Word to the wise: if you're tall or wide-set, post up at the bar--not against the wall. (Bonus points for all the purse hooks.) This is flat-top grill, traditional breakfast at its finest. I went in on the Corned Beef Hash Combo--house-made hash plus a solid Bennie on the side. Comfort on a plate. We split the Biscuits n' Gravy--rich, peppery, buttery. On point. She had the Chicken Apple Sausage and Eggs--simple, filling, cooked just right. Everything came out hot, fresh, and with that old-school care you only get from a real-deal diner kitchen. Coffee's flowing, prices are fair, and there's no pressure to rush--just sit back, scroll the news, and recover. Hangover cure? Check. Neighborhood institution? Double check. Well done, Lundy's. We'll be back.

Yelp
Came in at 11 am with a party of 2, dining area had a few regulars and more people trailed in as the time got closer to lunch. The guy that took our order also worked the counter, super polite and friendly. Before leaving, we had to use the restroom which we reached by going through the kitchen. Passing by, we did see that there was raw meat left out on the prep counter. It was swarmed by a horde of flies, with many of them around the exposed vegetables as well. Unfortunately we only saw this after we had consumed our meal and I hate to leave a poor review for a small business but it's definitely something to be aware of. Food: chilaquiles and country breakfast. Both were fresh and filling. Chilaquiles came with 2 eggs, rice and beans, and a slice of avocado.

Yelp
First and foremost, the seating arrangements are pretty tight. But they also seat you very quickly. We opted for the bar seating which felt spacious enough. They took our order immediately and we enjoyed the culture and diversity in that joint, both in its patrons and on the walls. The Irish Breakfast is wicked awesome. Irish sausage has the best type of casing. The grilled mushroom and grilled tomatoes work well in. Breakfast dish. All the potatoes were cooked perfectly, all tender and some crispy yet fluffy. The Irish Bacon is a leaner cure than traditional American bacon, which is great. We Love this place and the positive energy. Will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Amazing home made corned beef hash!! Old school diner with great counter service for breakfast...fast tasty made right in front of me!!

Yelp
This is the kind of place I love, and look for when I'm traveling. It's a Mom and Pop type of breakfast/ lunch joint located on the main drag of San Rafael on 4th Street near B Street. I think it used to be an Irish themed restaurant, but now it is run by a Hispanic man who does the cooking and takes orders. There are also waitresses on duty. The food is delicious and has a real home-made taste. There's a lot of Spanish dishes like chilaquiles (huge portion and super delish), as well as the standard breakfast/lunch items like omelettes, pancakes, waffles, etc. I highly recommend their house made corned beef hash. Coffee is very good, and they refill often. There's some tables, and counter service. Prices are reasonable. Portions are large. I hope Lundy's stays open for years to come, and prospers. This type of restaurant is getting harder to find as the corporate chains take over. We should patronize and support family owned businesses or we'll continue to see them close up shop and give way to to unhealthy soul-less mass produced "food" served up by corporations in order to boost investor profits. A real cross section of people frequent Lundy's, as I observed over several visits while staying nearby at the AC Hotel. Spanish speakers, families, working class as well as middle and well off locals keep the staff busy in the mornings and afternoons. Waitstaff is friendly, upbeat, and efficient. Really nice place!

Yelp
A legacy business. An Anchor of San Rafael. Good honest food. Reasonably priced with good portions. No frills food that is consistently above average. The coffee is hot and the potatoes are crispy if you ask. Protect Lundys at all costs!

Yelp
Food was amazing. Corn beef hash is out of this world. Chicken fried steak was super good too. I would definitely come back. Service was nice. Ambiance is cute too.

Yelp
Don't wanna brag about you and give other's ideas but this diner is timeless. They don't scrimp on bacon and it's damn good bacon, and their coffee is bangin and the plates are full. Ok there could be more butter on the toast but if I asked for more they'd love to give it to me. Do I like to pretend it's 1956 when I put my napkin on my lap or when I pour syrup on my pancakes? Of course I do. The prices are thoroughly modern however but it's worth it and I like everything about this joint.
google avatar

David Y.

Yelp
Horrible breakfast. Food is gross and left me with a bad impression of the whole downtown San Rafael area. Sausage and meats were undercooked, gravy on the biscuits was gross. Definitely won't be coming back.
google avatar

Mr. Papshmir ..

Yelp
Phenomenal. A diner experience my fellow West Coast transplants will recognize from their childhood back East. Greasy spoon with fast and friendly service. It's a favorite past time to take my kids and sit at the counter. They get a kick out of being so close to the cooking action. They love the pancakes, and I get the Chorizo Scramble nearly every time.
google avatar

E H.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years. You know that the food will always "hit the spot". Portions are generous, enough for two meals. But its so good I usually eat it all. Service is seamless, and timing is great. I feel completely at home here. Ambiance is unpretentious. it's just excellent. I love to visit with the waiter and the prices are right.
google avatar

Carlos V.

Yelp
Old diner style atmosphere with great food and excellent service. The chicken fried steak is a healthy size that will fill you up. Irish breakfast is also a must have.
google avatar

Antoine E.

Yelp
This place has great nostalgic atmosphere. The staff are very efficient and friendly. My fellow diner had an omelette and his meal looked great. I opted for pork chops and was served spoiled meat. I was lucky not to have gotten sick. Will I go back and try it again? I would but I would stick to breakfast classics like eggs. Every other component on my plate aside from that meat was good.
google avatar

Yelp
First time tryin this spot, definitely a gritty place. I got the corned beef hash combo. Tasted decent for what it is but there's small issue. Had my daughter with me who is allergic to fish. They cook almost everything on the griddle including that. They just happened to be cooking a piece of salmon using the same surface area and spatulas to turn the hot cakes which is what she ordered. I hate to bash a small biz but that's a huge issue if you're allergic to anything definitely don't come here. My corned beef had a fishy taste too it also. All in all if you're worried about cross contamination don't come here.
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
Came to Lundy's for the first time today and oh am I glad I discovered this gem! Had the Irish Breakfast and it was delicious! My friends had the huevos rancheros and the regular egg plate. All were full and happy! We sat at the counter since there was a wait for the tables. It is very small and reminds me of places I ate in college. It's old school for sure. Not fancy but good and huge portions. Will be back and work my way through the breakfast menu for sure!!
google avatar

Ace V.

Yelp
First all I don't do reviews and I feel bad hurting a business reputation by writing one, but this was horrible. So I got a steak and eggs which I assumed portions would be great, but nope. I got a 4oz steak with helllla fat on it. Paid full price $25 plus tip $5 and will never return lol...........I went to Crepvine to eat an additional meal bc this place didn't even do the job. Trash spot, go to ihop
google avatar

Walter S.

Yelp
The best corned beef hash I've ever had! I ordered the corned beef hash combo that included English muffins topped with ham, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce. Absolutely amazing! Good flavorful coffee as well. Fast, friendly service. My coffee cup never saw empty before getting a refill. They took the dirty plates right away, very efficient. The establishment has limited seating, only three tables for a group of 3 or more. The rest is bar seating or small two person tables. Plan accordingly. Convenient Street parking or a parking garage around the corner.
google avatar

R R.

Yelp
Home Cooking is definitely a good name for this diner. I got the Hot Cakes and they were the best I've had in a LONG TIME. Eggs were typical. Bacon was decent/good. You can't go wrong if diner food is what you are looking for. Great Service. Good Food.
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
It's not big, and it's not fancy, but it's is a great spot for breakfast. The portions are huge. I have a pretty good appetite and I didn't leave a member of the clean plate club. The staff is very friendly, and they seem to have a lot of regulars. I'm looking forward to a return visit.

Tonja S.

Yelp
Best greasy spoon in Northern California. Fantastic service and delicious eats. Come hungry as they feed you plenty.

Yelp
I found myself in San Rafael one morning with time for breakfast and Lundy's came up on Yelp with good reviews and an expansive menu with creative twists on classic breakfast favorites. Breakfast is my favorite, always has been especially when I can find a good diner, Lundy's completely exceeded expectations. Sitting down at the counter I was politely greeted and offered a giant cup of coffee immediately. Breakfast was ready almost as fast and was delicious. It was early when I initially arrived and there was a small group of what I'd guess to be locals enjoying their breakfast. As time went by tourists, students and working professionals started to file into the cozy space and the aroma of the various breakfast's cooking wafted through the air. The waiter took the growing crowd in stride with continued politeness and an efficiency of a true professional leaving the restaurant with all happy and full customers myself included. I'm looking forward to coming back in the future when next in San Rafael.

Yelp
Lundy's is your basic diner. A mom & pop coffee shop serving up breakfast and lunch. I went there early on a Saturday, but even so there were a number of folks already there. There is a long counter and a few tables, so I wouldn't come here with a group of more than 4 unless you like sitting in a row at the counter or splitting yourselves up at different tables. There is no room to push tables together. I had one of their scrambles with ham and veggies served with a dollop of sour cream and fried potatoes. It was very good. My decaf coffee was weaker than I prefer, but the flavor was good. I was greeted fairly promptly and the food came quickly. Both the food and the service were very good. I'll be back!
google avatar

Iryna Z.

Yelp
The portions are large and hearty, the staff is good, there is little space, but it is ideal for breakfast.
google avatar

Pigga V.

Yelp
I ordered a short stack of pancakes. Cross contamination with seafood. Salmon touched everything. Didn't even wash the tongs or any of the utensils while cooking other items. Touching raw eggs and not cleaning your hands after. Everything tasted fishy because of the cross contamination with the salmon. You could practically see it all in front of you. I hoping one of the chefs would not use the tongs to also touch the salmon. But he ended up using them. There were pans he could use at the top of the stove on the shelf to use to cook the salmon. Awful experience since I'm allergic to salmon.
google avatar

Jacob S.

Yelp
Great no frills diner. Very old school but hitting all the right places. We had the warm honey Dijon beef salad which was well made with fresh vegetables and juicy cuts of steak.the dressing was not too sweet. We also had the corned beef hash combo. Awesome brunch dish. The corned beef was. Fantastic, and the eggs Benedict were very tasty and spot on.

phil c.

Yelp
A very rude man. Can't tell you what the food is like because i was shouted at out the door for the temerity of trying to take a seat in a restaurant with a wide open front door despite being after closing hours but who thinks to make sure it's open at 3pm when walking downtown looking for a late lunch? What a jerk and i hope he goes bankrupt.
google avatar

Trevor O.

Yelp
Old school diner vibes. Super cozy. Very fast. And VERY good. They do a corned beef hash eggs Benedict.... Out of this world! I've had most of their menu by now and I have yet to be disappointed.

George Z.

Yelp
Undoubtedly THE BEST CORNED BEEF HASH in the Bay area. And the people are really nice too. Good Hamburgers too.
google avatar

Kevin A.

Yelp
Service and food is amazing. Very old school vibe. Gotta love sitting in the counter, seeing the cooks work hard to make your delicious food is great.

Michelle T.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and ordered bacon omelette. Server gave me a ham omelette. I said, "oh I ordered bacon omelette". He replied, "no you ordered ham." I would NEVER order ham because I hate it. But I said "No I ordered bacon but it's fine, I'll eat this." He then said "yeah we're not going to remake it for you. You're confused." ??????????????? What was the point of saying that when I already said I'm going to eat it? I didn't ask to have it changed either? That was the rudest thing a server has ever told me and for no reason too.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Best place for a good breakfast or lunch. Irish Breakfast is good Cheeseburger is the best! It's a lot of food, so be prepared
google avatar

Christopher A.

Yelp
It's open early. Oh my God doesn't matter. The food is terribleIt's a super friendly, casual shit hole dinner atmosphere. It's perfect in its own right, just not for me right now but maybe next time. Oh, Denny's has stepped up and game recently, but nothing beats supporting a local mom and Pop & being in the trenches with the local dinner vibe I just got a hot chocolate
google avatar

Lito Z.

Yelp
Small little hidden gem in San Rafael. Great portions, great flavors, great coffee, you can't go wrong. The Corned Beef Hash Combo is my favorite meal! Super tasty thick corned beef, mixed with red and green onions, country potatoes on the side. I seriously love their basic coffee, I can't stop asking for refills lol. Just saw the burgers go by to another table, looked amazing! Like I said you can't go wrong here!

Yelp
I cannot quite explain why I like this place so much. It might be because this feels like the closest thing to a diner in downtown San Rafael. I love that they open at 6am, so if you are an early riser and do not feel like IHOP, this is a nice option. The server is always pleasant, and there is no rush in terms of turning tables. No matter how busy they get, they give us time to enjoy our meal. The parking can be tricky because it's on a busy corner downtown (across from State Room). That said, there is metered parking right out front if you get lucky. There is a long counter, and there are lots of two-seater tables along the wall. There are maybe four tables that seat 4 or 5, but it's tight, and a couple of them can get crowded when people keep walking in to put their names on the waitlist. The Irish Breakfast is pretty awesome and comes with so much food! Definitely enough for two full grown people. The scrambles are also really nice, and they do not skimp on the ingredients. The coffee is decent. Most items on the menu cost about $12 per plate. That said, the Mexican food is geared towards gringos. So if you like your Mexican food slathered in cheddar cheese and sour cream, cool. I am also a little bummed about the salsa, beans, and rice. The rice is super bland and isn't authentic Mexican rice. The beans are kinda dry and overcooked. The salsa tastes a little like Pace Picante. Again, I am not totally sure about this place, but I keep coming back. So, I like it???
google avatar

Laray D.

Yelp
Small and cozy. The food and service was excellent. Two Egg Breakfast with French Toast

Robert E.

Yelp
The service was very slow. When we finally got our food, my wife's corn beef hash with grilled onions and potatoes was quite good. However, my chili was not. No spice, no flavor, no finished.

Vu T.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast the best in Marin Country Every time I come back the food is so good
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
I will not be recommending them any more until this is corrected. I had breakfast there Sept. 16th, 2022, and the food was good, but they switched their ketchup out to a horrible generic brand and filled their name brand bottles with it. I'm very disjointed in them for doing this and will not be back because of it. When I first used it, it came out of the bottle BROWN. I literally thought it was either bad or bbq sauce because of the color; so did one of the employees that didn't know about the change. The taste is much different and is not the same as regular ketchup. It took me a little bit to get accustomed to the flavor but it definitely ruined the flavor of the food.
google avatar

David T.

Yelp
Lindy's is the perfect breakfast and lunch spot. Their over easy eggs are genius. The coffee is poor but drinkable.
google avatar

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a classic no-frills breakfast or perhaps a breakfast with a latin flair. Service is quick and friendly and there is plenty of room at the counter or tables. Prices are reasonable. I got the sausage and egg breakfast which came with potatoes and toast. Just super delicious and simple like breakfast should be. I want to come back and try the pancakes and lunch offerings. If you are in downtown San Rafael def give this place a try.
google avatar

Maddy A.

Yelp
The Monte Cristo is good. I ordered a side of maple syrup. It was my first time here. The service was fast and the food is good.
google avatar

William P.

Yelp
Still good food and plenty of it, go for a big breakfast .pancakes made fresh too. Good coffee
google avatar

Terri N.

Yelp
Stopped by on Thursday morning en route to Sonoma. Nice, casual and homey like expected. Small but easy to find a table. Reasonable prices, good menu, lots of specials posted everywhere. Servers were nice. The scramble was great, simple omelette was fine, and portions large. Would definitely return when we're in the area again.
google avatar

Tou L.

Yelp
This place is a wonderful mom n pops dinner. A parking garage was around the corner (free on the weekends). The service, 5 stars. The staff is very attentive. They really care about service and ensure you have a pleasant wlexprrience there. The seating, 4 stars. This space is an older building and having a leg room wasn't on the menu then and it's not on the menu now. If you can appreciate the history in this way seating won't be an issue. This place is not very good for a large group as they only have 1 section where they can get seating for a large group. On the other hand they have a bar you can sit at if you are swinging in solo for a quick meal. The Food, 5 stars. Just great fresh to order food. Portion was large. The boss had a scrabble and coffee. I had the salmon Benedict. We were vacationing from out of town and really like the hometown charm, great service and great food. It's what you really want when you are vacationing. The locals are very lucky, and I'd be here every weekend if I was local.
google avatar

Mikah M.

Yelp
The service here on a Saturday morning was great. Food was fast to come to our table and the servers were really polite and attentive. The place is small so I wouldn't recommend for a large group. I ordered the bacon and eggs and my plate portion was perfect.
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
Great food. Very busy. I would go back again if I had an option to sit outside. Wait staff is quick, attentive and polite.
