Dr. Leon is the best! Period! She listens, cares, is through, patient and just an overall wonderful person! The staff was incredible and I brought in a pair of frames I already had and they had zero issues with getting my new lenses in there. Always checking in on how the new prescription is working out and making sure the feel, fit and see well. They were prompt, efficient and smooth. Zero issues! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and I’m a local from SF and go glad I found her when my old optometrist moved away. Thanks for a wonderful visit and thoughtful and supportive staff.

TL;DR The doctor is great but the staff doesn’t respect patient’s time and shows zero care. Spent 90 mins in the clinic including 1 hour of just waiting time despite having an appointment. I was called in for a last minute open appointment due to a cancellation, which I appreciated because I wanted to move up my appointment. I was told the appointment would be 45 mins in total, but they kept making me wait outside several times in between the pre-tests and doctor visit and I had to spend almost an hour and a half in the clinic. They even sent 2 other patients while I was waiting outside during my appointment time. After dilating my eyes which they said takes 15 mins, I was made to wait for 45 mins before the doctor saw me again. This is unacceptable. When I’d spent an hour in the clinic already, I politely asked a few times but the front desk staff kept saying it’ll take “few minutes” which was never true. I can empathize being busier than normal due to a short week, but I also accommodated my busy schedule to make the slot work and they didn’t seem to care. Even setting the right expectation on wait times and apology that they’re running late would’ve been the bare minimum, instead of giving cold bot-like responses and just asking me to wait few mins which was frustrating. I hope you do better!

Very friendly vibe, clean and accommodating! Staff are all knowledgeable, helpful and amazing professionals. Dr. Leung very theoral, people person makes you feel very comfortable, explains what she plans to help you with your vision. Few exams never done before, interesting approach and gave me few tips how to take care of my allergies. Came there unease, other optometry focus on what contact lense you came in with and work around that, instead of fixing what clients needs. Very impressive and happy, she took her time and gave me pros and cons. You have to give something to gain another, we'll put and feel great I can see what I needed for daily and night vision driving. I AM VERY HAPPY! Will definitely introduce her to family and friends even my coworkers. Thank you!!

Had a great experience here, similar to all other positive reviews online. The eye doctor was professional, experienced, and helpful. The frame selection was varied and nice. The folks who work here are extremely helpful and communication is excellent. They also explained my insurance options well and worked within my budget. Highly recommended.

Great service and stuff. Everyone is super welcoming. They also have a very good online booking system. I was able to book an appointment a day before, submit all necessary information and get in the next day. The eye exam + picking the glasses took ~30 minutes.

i've been going here for a few years. the team is super helpful, doctors are very knowledgable. just want to shout out mia who guided me in picking out frames, she has great style and intuition and made an otherwise uncomfortable process smooth and painless.

Optometrist was very thorough in her examination, and patient. I have very bad eye muscle issue and the correct prescription for my prism is very important. She also helped pick a frame that would work better based on the lens for my prescription. I have never had an optometrist explained that larger frames a makes it more difficult to accurately place the prism. This explains why often, when I pick a larger frame eyeglass, that lens never seems to come out right. It has a lot of distortions, even after many adjustments. I’ve wasted money on new glasses where lens never felt right. I gave up on the new pair and would go to another optical shop to fill the new prescription. I so appreciate the care and advice this shop provided. I am so looking forward to my new glasses. Thank you Garley!

I was visiting San Francisco for a work trip and forgot to pack my glasses and contact lenses. Not wanting to bumble my way through the city, I called a couple optometrists to see if they could lend me a pair of contact lenses. Lunettes was the only one that offered to help out! I sent over my prescription and they gave me contact lenses that covered the duration of my visit. I've never been a patient of their clinic, but I certainly will be if I ever move back to SF. TLDR: Came for my first visit a few days ago and had a wonderful experience! I really value when my health-related offices pay attention to the details of patient care, and Dr. Leon and her team here did that for me this week. Also, I love that this seems to be a mostly (all?) female team! More in-depth thoughts here: 1) Was super easy to schedule an appointment online and I didn't have to call in or anything. After I scheduled an appointment, I got helpful text messages reminding me about my appointment and requesting the appropriate documentation. 2) The two women at the front desk were very nice as I checked in and were helpful with providing all the answers to the questions I had. 3) After standard, preliminary testing of my peripheral vision etc, I met with Dr. Leon for my eye exam. She has a very warm and calming persona that made me feel comfortable to be there, and she answered all of my questions with thoughtful answers. I felt like I was in very good hands, which is always something I care about deeply when trying out a new doctor for the first time. 4) I appreciated that Dr. Leon made it a point to make sure all the equipment was freshly wiped down before I put my face and eyes to it. This is the perfect example of attention to detail. 5) Finally, Dr. Leon was extremely thoughtful about recommending a new type of contact lens for me. Instead of just recommending the latest model, she thought through what I said about my eyes now, what I would need to remedy that, and what would be the best next step for the future (the NEXT time I buy contacts), and recommended something slightly different while explaining her reasoning. I really appreciated that. Details!

It had been a while since I had my eyes checked, and the staff was super welcoming. They also went out their way to help me find glasses that went with the style I was looking for and that fit my face well.

A small update for my review of this great establishment! I came in the other day for my routine exam and was treated like royalty! The team here goes above and beyond to make you feel safe, understood, and cared for. I wanted to give a special shoutout to Taylor. She helped me pick out my new pair of glasses and I've honestly never left a place so happy to have spent money. I usually have extreme buyer's remorse but Taylor took the time to get to know me a bit and made sure I was happy and comfortable before I left. I will NEVER stop raving about this place.

Great experience, particularly picking out higher end frames. My first pair were Oliver Peoples and this most recent pair are Tom Ford. Friendly staff were helpful making the selection both times!

Absolute 10 out of 10 best experience, dealing with my eyes in my life. I have pretty poor vision, and have my entire life. I've been to an optometrist and ophthalmologist, and this was easily the best experience I've ever had. All of the staff and Dr. were kind, patient, Were willing to help me find the right solutions which included a brand new style of contact lens as well as two new pairs of glasses. Not only did they make everything easy, they ensured that I was aware of all rebates, and all opportunities that were available to me with my insurance, cannot say enough positive things about them Would highly highly recommend

My new go-to optometrist in SF! They have an online appointment system, which seems like a standard thing these days but many other optometrists didn't have this service. I have VSP insurance and it was accepted here. I went in for a routine eye exam and to get new contacts/glasses. I met with Dr. Molina, and she was super helpful and answered all my questions. She explained all my options with regards to insurance pricing, and advised for me to get new glasses instead of contacts since my contacts were fairly new. I then was transferred to John's care for selecting glasses. I kid you not when I say I spent an hour here! He was very kind and patient, which was perfect because I am super picky when it comes to glasses and took forever. He was very knowledgeable about my insurance plan and gave me estimates for everything. He also gave recommendations for which add-ons I should get for my lenses. Even after so much time, I left without making a final decision. He said I could go to another optometrist if I didn't find a frame I wanted, even after spending so much time with me. I truly appreciated the no pressure environment. I finally sent an email a couple days later stating which frames I wanted. I had to wait about 3 weeks for them to come in, but I have a super high prescription and opted for the custom made lenses. I was able to pick my glasses up during lunch, and John adjusted the frame to fit me perfectly. I've always bought glasses at Warby Parker due to price, but had too much FSA money set aside this year. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the glasses and service here are excellent!

Working from home during COVID-19 impacted my eyes! I've been dreading seeing an optometrist because I knew my vision declined and frankly, I didn't want to face that I was loosing my 20/20 vision. Lunettes was recommended to me by my two good friends and I'm glad they did! This was my first time seeing an optometrist in years and it was actually a super fun experience. Dr. Molina checked my eyes and she was very profession, nice and empathetic. Dr. Molina also shared some tips for retaining my vision at its current status while continuing to work from home. During my exam, I quickly saw (ha ha) how the vision in my left eye had declined and decided to get some glasses. Dr. Leon was there to help style me! I've got to say, I felt like a bit of a celebrity being styled by Dr. Leon because she helped me try on a bunch of glasses and shared her opinions about fit and size. Who knew so much thought would go into picking! I got to learn a lot about things to look out / prepare for and why working from home has impacted my vision. This was such an informational and fun experience for me... especially buying my first pair in my 30s, which feels a little silly to me still. I definitely plan on implementing some of the new tips and recommendations as I continue to work from home for the foreseeable future. Thank you to everyone at Lunettes!!

Great experience getting my eye exam yesterday. Dr. Leon was amazing.  I am someone who does not take care of my eyes very often so I was pretty much clueless going into it.  But, Dr. Leon and her staff were so good at explaining all the tests and what they meant about my eyes.   I got new contact lenses and will be getting my first pair of reading glasses (I'm old now lol).   Thank you to everyone in the office!

Nice clean space that accepts VSP! Right in the heart of downtown SF, it is convenient from my office and walking over from my place. Best perk of all is that they offer online scheduling...cuz I don't like calling people. lol. But better yet, they are also pretty easy to get an appointment too..you don't have to wait over a month for your appointment! I appreciate the non-pushy sales folks for their frames and the thorough but also understanding Optometrists here. I have been here for the last 3 years now and have been pretty satisfied with the care and service provided! They do a great job not dilating your eyes with the full amount so I am able to return to work after a few hours of blurry vision. Yay for that! Just don't forget to bring your contacts and glasses for your appointment!

When I got my glasses here in 2017, my overall experience was good. However, later, when it was time to get a new prescription, I went to another optometrist who told me that the glasses prescribed at Lunettes were "overcorrected". My wife also got glasses here, and was given the same diagnosis for her new glasses at a different optometrist. So it is reasonable to say this place may have a tendency to overcorrect your vision.

As someone who has worn polarized lenses in sunglasses for years, it's pretty much a sunk cost that cute sunglasses that I like have to have polarized lenses in them. I bought a pair of designer sunglasses and needed special mirrored polarized lenses to be put into the frames. A very helpful young man assisted me with the frames - the frames were unusual and he said he said he would send it to the lab to see if it was possible. He gave me a reasonable price for the lenses and I picked them up a couple weeks later. Lunettes Optometry is convenient for those who work in the area and want high end frames and lenses.

This is my first time coming here and it was overall a positive experience, other than that they didn't tell me to bring in my contacts with the prescription so that they could update my prescription. So I had to come back. They were very kind and prompt. The person working at the front/floor is very attentive and friendly. Big fan!

Full disclosure: I had never had an eye doctor appointment before so I can not compare to other places. Eyes also kind of freak me out. I had to do a dissection on the eye back in high school, and have been traumatized since. That said, I had a wonderful experience at Lunettes. It was not at all scary and I felt felt very well taken care off throughout my whole visit. Everyone was helpful, friendly and fast. I was kept well informed on every step and really appreciated the detailed report afterwards. I did have to ask to email me my prescription as they forgot to give me a copy, but received an email back within 30 minutes.

We're doing the shelter-in-place thing. This is a COVID-19 review. I carelessly break my glasses. I call the Dr's office, expecting nothing, I get a professional, friendly person on the phone. I ask "is there any way I can get a new pair of glasses"? They tell me "of course! As long as we use the same prescription and get the same frames and everything else, as before". A few weeks later .. Doctor calls me to see if I'm at home, she personally leaves the glasses outside my door and calls me from the car. Unbelievable service. Social distancing included! Most importantly -- I've been wearing glass for 42 years, and I don't know how she did it, but her glasses are the absolute best prescription I've ever had. Amazing stuff. Best eye doctor ever.

I didn't purchase eyewear from here but dropped in and asked if they could fix my bent temples. I received excellent care from Taylor (I hope I remembered her name correctly). She not only fixed my temple but offered to fit properly and bring in any other frames that needed adjustment free of charge. Great customer care. Thank you.

The best optometry in the Bay Area! I have been wearing glasses and contact lenses for decades, and I've been to plenty of optometrists in the Bay Area and abroad. There are plenty of places with underqualified staff and equipment, and/or who generally don't care about your well being as much as money. Therefore when I do see a place with everything new and well maintained, attentive staff and ACTUALLY skilled optometrist and opticians, I HOLD ON to this place and keep coming back! Lunettes is one of such great places. I'm extremely picky about all things optometry, and Lunettes Optometric has scored great in all aspects. I used to live in SF but now moved to Mountain View, but I'd rather take caltrain to come to SF than going to any other optometry. Lunettes is so far the best in: 1) quick and accurate eye exams 2) absolutely well maintained new equipments 3) patience in dealing with billing and maximizing insurances 4) the best location and nicest office 5) always emailing every prescription and receipt timely and accurately 6) handles shipping extremely timely 7) has the best lenses Enough said

I was like looking to get a new prescription and as I am new to the city, I chose this place based on the reviews and also because they take VSP insurance. This is one of the best optometrists I've been to! Dr. Leon was kind and informative. She really took her time with me and made me feel comfortable. The facility is clean, up to date, and they also have great glasses to choose from. So happy I found this place!

Lovely shop with lots of fabulous styles. Everyone from front desk staff to the doctors are super friendly and knowledgeable. I have always had issues with contact lenses since I have an astigmatism but since coming here 2 years ago, their lens fitting fixed my vision issues. SOOOOOO happy. Plus they are always willing to assist above and beyond - ex, recently I had gotten to my office and one of my lenses was behaving badly so I call their office to see if they could give me another lens to save me a trip all the way home. Without hesitation, they checked, found they had a spare lens and offered it to me. Can't not recommend them enough.

Very thankful to be working with this office.Thanks to my boss who is a very practical, almost frugal man; raved wonderful things about his vision experience with this office and recommended everyone else to stop by for their vision needs. The office is located on the ground level of a nice marble office building. The office itself has high ceilings, is bright, open and luxurious. Initially, I was intimidated to go in, afraid the high-end feel would translate into priceyness and snottiness but it was the complete opposite. Their (VSP) prices are identical to some of the other optometry offices in the FiDi/Soma area, so I'm glad I no longer need to waste much time shopping around for prices. I stopped in on a quiet lunch break and had the pleasure of working with Sarah, who is the nicest, sweetest medical service person I have ever encountered. Not fake sweet, but genuinely cared about all your vision needs (frames, lenses & contacts). Due to my busy schedule, most communications with Sarah were via email. and Sarah went above & beyond to get my VPS insurance straighten out. It was a mess because, I had two copies from two different sources, with different benefits on it. I can't express my appreciation enough to Sarah for helping me get to the bottom of my benefit discrepancies. I later explored color contacts & frames and Sarah assisted me in finding the best color & comfort. That session felt like I was frame shopping with a good friend. I'm stopping my optometry office search as I truly believe I have found the one for me. PS: they have many cute Tom Ford frames. Random: they provide phone charging stations/cords too. :)

Why did it take me so long to find Lunettes? This was the best experience I've ever had at an optometrist by far. Marianne at the front desk was so friendly and helpful as was Dr. Leone. Dr. Leone uncovered that my prescription from the previous 2.5 years was way off leading to distorted vision and headaches. I'm so excited to try on my new contacts and glasses. So great seeing Dr. Lam! The whole team/staff is always really welcoming and responsive. I used to be around the block from work but not I go into SF because I enjoy them so much. COVID protocols are in place: fill out a form in advance, door kept locked, wash hands prior to appointment, limited use of tools that touch your face etc. Felt plenty fine and safe visiting. Would not hesitate in scheduling a visit if you're due for needs and are weary of COVID.

I've been a customer for 5+ years, and every time I try to go elsewhere - I always come back!! This shop, and john in particular continue to provide outstanding customer service! In addition, they have an amazing selection of high end frames, and they are very knowledgeable about how to fit them, which is surprisingly hard to find! They have barriers in place, and everyone is using masks etc in the office as well, which I really appreciate!

Five stars for the patient experience, but note that their collection of glasses leaves something to be desired. I scheduled a regular check-up at Lunnettes and was very satisfied with my experience there. The staff was super helpful with scheduling and any questions I had about the exam itself. In particular, I appreciated how they were up front with me about what was covered by insurance and what I would have to cover myself. I ended up ordering contacts through Lunnettes and the process was similarly quick and easy. I ended up not ordering glasses through Lunnettes because they don't have a huge stock, and most of the ones they do have were not what I was looking for.

Been coming here for the past 4 years. Through insurance changes and routine check ups, I've never felt left in the dark. The office is beautiful and high tech. I recommend this place to everyone. Now front office: Marianne is amazing. Her selection of glasses, as well as her incredible professionalism and fashion sense always leave me with the cutest glasses that are endlessly complimented. She gets her job done and done well. I've never had an issue with billing and she is always responsive if I forget to get an itemized receipt.

This is the most beautiful optometry practice I have ever been in! It looks like it belongs in a magazine. Came here last week when I was in San Francisco for a few days and picked up a pair of polarized Ray Ban Jackie Ohh sunglasses. Loved the selection of Ray Bans and Oakley's ... including "asian fit" Oakley's. Who knew those even existed for those of us with no nose bridges?? Although I wasn't there for an eye exam I chatted with Dr. Leon about LASIK, something I would love to have done at some point since I'm a -11. (Thank god for contacts!) Dr. Leon gave me a referral for an ophthalmologist that she highly recommends which I'll keep in mind if I ever take the plunge and do the surgery. The parking gods were smiling on me this day because I was able to find parking on the street right outside the practice entrance (which is actually on Mission Street not 1st Street), but I noticed that there's a public parking garage right next door as well. Score!

Dr. Leon and Marianne are the best! They have both helped and changed my life for the better with contact recommendations and glasses recommendation that fit my needs, lifestyle and taste. They really know what they are doing. Wish I could continue to come, but moved out of the area. However after seeing two different doctors I may just make the trip back to this office. They are worth it!

Briefly: Friendly and prompt. Walked in. As a customer I'm welcomed. I brought my existing frames and asked for same type of lenses. Everything took less than 5 minutes over lunch break. Left happy.

TLDR; Great service, wouldn't buy frames here unless you have a unusual needs or $$$ I agree with the other reviewers that the customer service here is beyond excellent, from scheduling an appointment to ordering frames. I came here for an eye check up since I felt like my vision was deteriorating slightly after a desk job doing computer work. I walked out with a light prescription and the peace of mind that there was nothing else wrong with my eyes. My only reservation is about how costly the frames are. I had a very basic prescription (-.75 both eyes) and spent close to $500 on frames. I felt this was worth the one time extra cost because this was my first ever pair of glasses and the staff here guided me through everything. Prior to this, I have never been able to buy sunglasses that stayed on my face -- I have a small and flat (asian) nose. They put in custom nose pads on my frames and the technician took extra care in adjusting them so that sat perfectly! However, since I don't need special lenses (high index, astigmatism etc..) I'll probably come back for a check up next time and order frames elsewhere.

Out of town traveler - stumbled upon this awesome practice after I got some product caught up in my eye that had me in tears and total discomfort for over 24 hours .. Got to the office and saw the doctor even though they were pretty much booked. Very friendly and polite service out front..and omg ..the doctor is the best ....cant imagine wanting anything more out of this place . Don't hesitate to visit!

This team sets the standard for customer service in the field of optometry, from the front of the house to the back of the house. The team that handles appointments and sales are flexible, patient, and very knowledgeable. They also have a good eye for fashion, so while their selection isn't equivalent of a big chain optometrist, the choices are much better. The doc (Dr. Leon) takes a very consultative and patient-centric approach to eye exams and fittings. She makes you feel like you're part of the process in getting the prescription just right.

I came here last year, and had a wonderful experience with a knowledgeable, calm and understanding doctor. She answered all my questions, explained everything really well and listened to my needs. I bought glasses here as well and it was great. Not pushy, explained the different options and shared all the pricing information. Just great.

5 star experience. From the optometrist, the office/equipment and the entire staff are excellent. The office is very professional, clean and comfortable. The equipment is all new and up-to-date. Both optometrists are excellent. I especially commend the service for their excellent knowledge, recommendations and follow-through with esp big props going to Marianne. Only down side is that I'm out of state now... Even then, Lunettes helped look into an issue with my lenses and were able to get a replacement shipped while under warranty. Happy as a clam.

I've been going to optometrists since I was 9 and Lunettes by far has provided the most welcoming and best service I've experienced. Dr. Leon couldn't be sweeter, always remembering details about my life, but also very professional, explaining all details to me throughout the exam. Marianne is also a gem. A number of times I've swung by when I've had an issue during the day and they're always happy to give me a replacement contact, solution, contact case, even water bottles! Earlier in the year, Dr. Leon fit me with the newest line of contacts that are by far the most comfortable lenses I've ever had. They're pricey, but she saw how much my eyes were struggling at the computer all day and highly recommended the switch. I am thrilled with the lenses. Further, I usually order glasses through Warby Parker and Lunettes got back to them with my prescription quickly and professionally, despite knowing I was ordering glasses elsewhere. I've recommended Lunettes to all my coworkers and they have all raved about their experience.

Lunette's is the best, period. The entire staff is incredibly nice, gracious, helpful, professional, honest.... I could go on. Rarely do I love going to any doctor, but Dr. Leon and the rest of the staff are just awesome. Could not recommend more highly, whether you are looking for a check-up, stylish frames, or new contacts. So nice to see a high-quality practice that also treats its clientele like actual people!

Dr. Leon might not appreciate me writing this, but when I rushed to her as a first-time client, three days before my vacation with only a few pairs of lenses left, she was incredibly accommodating. I had a thorough examination followed up with enough samples to view Portugal with 20/20 vision. I'm so excited for my new eyeball doctor!!

Strong recommend! I have really bad eyes, and so have to be very careful and thoughtful about finding a good optometrist. When I returned to SF, I did a ton of research before choosing Lunettes, and feel fortunate I found them. Dr. Leon is just really good- you can trust her. She will get the prescription right, and has knowledge of the latest methods and materials. Marianne is incredibly helpful and thoughtful; I don't think anyone knows the eye insurance business better than her. I have recommended Lunettes many times, and will continue to do so.

There's something similar to beer goggles when you're angry. And sometimes just like beer googles you don't get a warning of, woah, just wait a minute, you sure you want to go ahead with that? I totally blame my hot headedness from my dad and grandpa, and emotions from my mom. I should not have written an angry review right after my frustrations. I was angry at one person working there, but the doctors I saw were fine and listened to my concerns. Marianne, has also been helpful with answering my questions and helping me to try to understand the transition to toric lenses. They did try to accommodate me as best as they could with my insurance expiring (as I was starting a new job and was not sure what provider I would have and such). In fairness though, just to defend the Dr. Leon's comment, voicing my insurance concerns, Marianne let me double book two fitting appointments since I was concerned about the lenses too. I explained to her I may not know til that Monday if I could keep that Wednesday lunch time appointment, and that I realized it may be technically a little pass the 48 hour notice. And she said that was fine. So I ended up calling late morning that Monday canceling the appointment but keeping the one for the following week. Just a little feedback, when I was trying to call a few times the day I stopped by and I was outside there didn't seem to be a voicemail set up, if not, would you be able to set this up? Old habits die hard. So I may just be used to how things were at my old optometrist that I was seeing for about 15 years. I just need to figure out what's right for me. But honestly, I can tell that the practice does care about their shop and patients. Again, I want to apologize to the staff of Lunettes for my review that was written out of frustration.

They should film a documentary on exceptional customer service and extraordinary experiences at Lunette's. In today's world, filled with mediocrity and impersonal service, this business stands as a beacon of hope for those who delight in exceptionally exceptional experiences. I am unable to report on whether they were less expensive, or more expensive because I really don't care. When everything was said and done the price of the exam, frames, and lenses was irrelevant. I made friends with the staff that day & I know I am not alone as one of their customers who pops in regularly just to say hi! If all of this sounds crazy to you, it sounds crazy to me too. I can only encourage you to stop in & meet Marianne. You will then know what I am talking about!

I was able to schedule a last minute appointment with Dr. Lam and she was very friendly and incredibly helpful. The office staff was very polite and courteous and closely following COVID protocols. I ordered contacts through their office and had them delivered and they arrived in about 4 business days. I highly recommend the office to anyone in the area.

BIG BIG FAN! Been coming to Lunettes for several years now and have always had a great experience. Marianne at the front desk, Dr Leon and team are incredibly friendly and attentive. They never forget a face! Now I don't go as often because I got Lasik (through Dr Leon's recommendation) and am super happy with the results. Overall 10/10!

I'm grateful for the day I discovered these guys (randomly walking about in SoMa) and you will be too. They are the epitome of professionalism and class and you will find yourself dropping by even when you don't have an appointment, just to say hi :-) Marianne, the office manager, is sweet to the point of restoring your faith in life. She calmly guides you through the 'pre-process', gently administering the initial tests, and helping pick and adjust your frames afterwards. Similarly, Dr. Leon, (the eye doctor), is a gem. She has the same exact warmth and expertise to her and flawlessly carries out your exam. She will not let you leave her office until she has patiently explained, in helpful, layman's detail, every last issue you have going on. She does not upsell, or downsell, but just tells it like it is. Hallelujah. The whole space is very cute and stylish and there are always welcome cookies (my carb watching butt sadly refuses) and awesome free bags (my freeloading self does not...). The selection of frames is rather hip too - modern, without being stupidly pretentious... Just go here. Instead of that other place.

So professional, great options for glasses. I go in on my lunch break - they're quick, efficient, and fun! Marianne even handled all my rebate info for my contacts. Above and beyond in every way. And they have candy. Two jars. Candy. 6 stars :)

This place is wonderful. I work downtown in the FiDi and needed a new optometrist. I went to see Dr. Leon and everything was exceptional. (1) Marianne in the front is super nice, great at suggesting styles, is prompt at returning calls... basically, she's makes everything super smoothly and is incredibly friendly while doing it. She also found my lost ring in her office and thought to call me to see if it was mine! (2) Frame selection - They have very chic frames! I'm very picky about frames, especially because I'm Asian and barely have a nose bridge. They have many styles that work for all different types of faces, and Marianne is great at steering you to the right styles. (3) Dr. Leon - She's great. She is incredibly thorough and even took the time to walk me through all of my tests and results. My previous optometrist just told me everything is fine, but it was cool that Dr. Leon showed me the inside of my eyeball, the optic nerve, explained what's going on, what she looks for, etc. She also explained the peripheral vision test well. Dr. Leon used to teach at UC Berkeley so you know you're in good hands! She also advised me re: my baby daughter's eye care and when I should take her to see a pediatric optometrist. And, she also gave me detailed information to consider re: Lasik, and I actually decided against Lasik because of what she told me since I'm already in my mid-30s. She's also super friendly as well. (4) They take insurance, have a wonderful website where you can book your appts, and all of their equipment is very high-tech. They also are VERY meticulous about sterilizing everything in front of you so you can rest assured you're not going to touch someone else's germs. Their office is also very polished and modern. I definitely recommend them!

It's a nightmare.  I visited their office back to February 2020, and ordered both contacts and glasses. I have to say the experience was good, and the doctor was knowledgeable. I got my glasses very fast, and they told me I have to use the trial contact lenses and if everything works out then they will place an order.  Because of my prescription, they need to order trial contacts. They said they would call me when the trial lenses are ready.  The phone call never comes,  but the shelter-to-place came. They closed the office for months, and I somehow forgot the contact order (I don't really need to wear contacts as wfh). When I finally remembered to check it, it's late July. They said they had trial lenses ready, but I never showed up to pick them up.  I was shocked. I never got any message or phone call from them. And they're sort of blaming me?!  Well, I finally got my trial lenses, and also called them (on 7/31/2020)  to confirm that it works and asked them to place the order to the manufacturer. They promised they will send out the confirmation and tracking info once the lenses are shipped.Again, nothing comes. Today (9/8/2020), I called them to check the status, and they said I didn't call them to confirm the trial lenses, and they didn't place any order either. UNBELIEVABLE! They repeated the same thing that they would place the order blah blah.. but no apology, no explanation. The receptionist's attitude was terrible.  It took almost seven months, but I didn't get my contacts yet. Maybe I need to do some project management, keep every phone call recorded and ask for written confirmations from them. It's really really painful! I don't know how my order is handled with the insurance company.  Did they already file the claim and get paid from the insurance already?  Tons of questions. But I don't really want to know the answers.

I was a slacker on taking care of my eyes and had a prescription that was probably 10 years out of date. I came here and it made me wonder: why the heck had I waited so long?! They got me in on the day that worked for me, got me the best value for my insurance and I've got to say - visiting this place was a bit like visiting an "eye spa" in a chic hotel (the decor kind of reminded me of the Viceroy in Santa Monica, one of my ultimate faves). And just like the Viceroy, they also give you champagne (champagne!) while you wait and browse their great selection of frames (got me a super cute pair by Tory Burch that were surprisingly affordable). The Dr and Marianne were both welcoming, charming and funny. Their technology was top notch, the experience was enjoyable (yes, even learning how to put in contacts for the first time, if you can believe that. You rock, Marianne). Bonus points: When the awesome high-tech contacts I had ordered got back ordered, they gave me enough samples to get me through (and honestly, I kind of wish they'll stay backordered because I like coming into this place so much, it's nice to have an excuse to say hi). If only dental visits could be this awesome, I'd actually go every six months.
