"L’Unico was a breakout hit food cart of 2020, with its cart-made pastas and exceptional brunch fare. Now, it’s gone, within days of its first anniversary. In March of 2020, a food cart opened specializing in Italian snacks and sandwiches... L’Unico — owned by Portland native Caitlyn Hamel-Spencer and Italian chef Lanfranco Paliotti — hit the radar of Portland diners... Despite its growing fame, Paliotti and Hamel-Spencer announced Sunday that the cart had closed for good... The cart’s simple carbonara, made with a bucatini for the brunch menu, was one of the city’s finest, and the cart’s specials often involved dazzling in-season produce and pristine seafood... Michael Russell at the Oregonian wrote that the cart’s pastas as 'could hold their own against all but a handful of Portland’s best restaurants,' and Portland Monthly’s Katherine Chew Hamilton described the cart’s adored Dungeness-burrata tonnarelli as 'simple yet indulgent, humble but with a touch of New York fine dining glamour.'" - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

"L’Unico is a new food cart making some of the city’s best pasta. On Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the cart serves things like breakfast carbonara, prosciutto eggs Benedict, and sausage-topped polenta with a gooey poached egg." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

This place has some really tasty items. The house special pasta and the Italian Combo sandwich were delicious. The pasta had a super fresh taste and the pesto made it even better. The sandwich was well made. I liked the seeded baguette and flavors of the meat within the sandwich. The person taking our order was very friendly and accommodating. I would like to try some of their other items next time.

Great food and great service. Puts a lot of sit downs to shame. Would go out of my way to try this when craving Italian. Shared both salads, the mushroom arancini special, the meatball sub, and the porchetta panini. Probably more food than we needed, but it really hit the spot. Ingredients and execution were top notch.

We have eaten here so much in the last few weeks after Oregon Live named it the best pasta cart and discovering that article! Our favorites are on there regular menu and specials but here’s a pic of the brunch we got (2 days in a row) because it was so delicious. Perfect combination of savory and sweet and the business owners are the ABSOLUTE kindest humans on earth! We are so thankful to have discovered this authentic food cart, and will definitely be returning!! Prices and portions exceed expectations :)

Great experience last weekend at this food cart. Dishes skillfully prepared, well-balanced, flavorful. Portions generous. Prices reasonable. Cart owners super-friendly. Located in a clean, new food cart pod that includes covered seating at picnic tables, along with a mini-pub serving a generous selection of locally brewed beers on tap. My wife and I returned today for lunch, and everything was just as good. Highly recommended.

We have eaten here twice now and we LOVED the squid ink pasta, the ceppo norcina and the duck orecchiette. Amazing flavors, great prices and unique ingredients.

The food was fantastic!! We told them we were vegetarians and that we would love any suggestions and they told us they would whip up a few things. The salad was beautifully prepared, the roasted veggies had a perfect crunch and the fresh pasta was out of this world. My favorite dish showcases a red sauce which was full of flavor and light at the same time. Would definitely recommend.

Omgoodness! I just had my first experience here, and it most certainly won't be my last! Talk about delicious! Best authentic Italian food I've eaten since my Nana passed. She would be so proud! I will be highly recommending your place to everyone I come into contact with! Not to mention, you outstanding costumer service is a class act! Thank you! 🥰

This is possibly one of the best food carts I've tried in Portland. Their meatball sub is incredible and same goes for their panzanella salad, which I definitely was not keen on sharing. If you haven't tried this brand-new spot yet, you definitely have to check it out!
