Lupe's Restaurant

Always see this restaurant on my commutes so wanted to try it out. I like the food, but personally the prices are just too high for the portions and how simple the food is. There’s only one chef so did have to wait a good bit while he finished working on other people’s orders, so would definitely order ahead. I really like the horchata, but it’s maybe a bit watery for most people. The salsa is also really watery and has no flavor apart from spice. They charge an extra dollar for card, whether TAP or insert, so it bothered me a bit that they didn’t mention it beforehand when telling me my total price.

Second time going to Lupe’s in Pico Rivera. First time I went I ordered a chicharon burrito and it was awful. I tried going back today after a few months. Don’t know why I ordered the chicharon again I guess hoping it was going to be different. Nope. It was awful again there hard shell tacos are good. But i recommend never order the chicharon I don’t know what it’s made of but it’s not chicharon. Just a heads up. I added a picture, where’s the chicharon at?

I got some fries, a cheeseburger and an asada torta. (Forgot to take pics of the torta and burger) I always see people here so I decided to give it a try and I was very disappointed. The fries were overcooked and full of oil. The burgers meat tasted old/dry and the torta was flavorless. Maybe people stop by because it’s by a busy intersection(?) would not recommend.

Hello everyone and welcome to Lupes restaurant. I was drawn to this restaurant by the amount of views. And let me tell you someone lied. I was not too happy with the burritos I ordered. I asked what was recommended or popular and they told me the pastrami burrito. And I also ordered the Carnitas burrito. The pastrami burrito was neither tasty nor filling. I would not recommend. I asked my friend about the Carlitos burrito. And they complained that the meat was dry and hard and that the beans had no flavor. It looks like we both complained about small portions. There are no free refills here on the drinks. Parking is limited. They do accept cash or car. I will not be coming back to this place. Not sure if everybody else feels the same way. This is my go to for a chicharron burrito. I get it with cheese. First of all the chili is bomb hot! Which i love. Off you can't handle hot don't get it. The fries are those old school greasy kind that go good dipped in salsa. The hard shell tacos are perfect as s the tostadas. I'm also a fan of the green burrito which comes with shredded beef. I've been coming here for at least 40 years and you either love it or not. But it is delicious!!!

Yes please! Hottest (temperature wise) burrito I’ve ever been served. Hands down- I got the breakfast burrito with no ham. The bacon was crispy and plentiful. I was missing the cheese... that’s why it gets 4 stars. I didn’t notice until I was already on my way, as I got my order to go. Chips were served with it, fairly good. Hot salsa

The food was horrible, the burger have so much mayo! The burrito de chicharon is only chile rojo but supposedly blended with the chicharon. The fries were drowned with oil. Won’t recommend. Photo of the burrito de “chicharon”

Hard shell beef tacos are consistently great here. Comes loaded with beef, lettuce, a slice of tomato, and topped with cheese. Red sauce adds nice flavor. Made to order, and the staff is friendly at the order/pickup counter. The small dining area has a few tables. Worth the stop if you're driving through town.

They would make more money if they offered ground beef in a burrito or anything else other than the taco. I called to see if they would add in for a burrito and they said (NO we can't do it. We only make enough for the ground beef tacos). Ok. One more point - please stop adding so much SALT to the green salsa. Yikes. Brutal

Fast, friendly service and order preparation. Loved my carne asada tacos. Guacamole made them special and the comp side of chips and spicy red salsa were much appreciated. Very fair prices. Food very fresh. Loved the A rating too. I ate in my car cause I was on the move from one work site to the next, but they had a nice covered seating area or room that looked nice and comfortable for those wanting to dine at a table, and seemed to have a tv. I love that!

Haven't eaten here for years. I remember their burritos were very tasty. So I got on the tele, and ordered one Machaca and Carnitas burrito. Once I arrived, I told them I ordered via cell, and they told me it would be right out. Service is great and with a smile. The establishment is small with 5 parking spots but there is street parking. I received my order and was about to pay with my CC, but she said they only accepted cash. The Machaca was filled with shredded beef and very tasty. The carnitas had lettuce, guacamole, refried beans, and shredded pork. It was delicious. The refried beans were super good. Great place to stop for a quick meal.

Great tacos...spicy salsa...I wish they'd make new menu signs for outside. They're so old and fading away.

Taco meat had no flavor salsa was watery and no spice fries were old and super oily expensive for low quality of food

The food use to be better. I would go every Friday to get the same meal which I Loved was the burrito de Chicharrón . It was the bomb. Fast forward now to 10 years later it is horrible. I also use to order the Torta de Carne Asada, now it's not Carne Asada it's like ground beef . Very awful place. Before on Fridays it use to be pack now I hardly see anyone there. I will never go back again.

Went there last week and figured I would try it and see if they were as good as Pepe's ? But no not at all... I tried one of everything and no good or flavor except for the chili cheese fries, other than that??? Not the business at all.

This was my favorite restaurant until recently .. I'm really sad and depressed.. I been coming here for 28yrs ordering taquitos and fries .. fries are still the same :) but the taquito don't taste the same something off really off an the red chili looks and tastes different than before :( I please guys don't change it on us

Must try!!!! Bacon cheese burger no tomato no pickles grilled onions and bacon of course. Never fails to satisfy and food comes out quick and with great quality as well and you must Also try the lupes take on the dui fries chili cheese, asada, pastrami, and cheese And an horchata lol 5/5 stars

If you love Mexican food, avoid this place! They don't use cilantro or onions, it's more like "American tacos" lettuce and tomato. Meat has no seasoning, their salsas are water down. Never again!

I haven't ate here in years and I enjoyed everything I ate. Clean place with a patio to eat. Fast, friendly service and fresh food. The restroom needs to be cleaned better.

So years as LA RESIDENT, I always wanted to try this spot....( IG), reminded me to try it finally... We bought two carne asada burritos, and one beef & bean burrito.... It was horrible and over priced... the burrito was the size of my palm to finger tip... the size didn't matter if it was good, but it wasn't. It was all bean , no cheese, no rice and at the bottom of the burrito was ground up hamburger meat with spice, to make it taste like carne asada, which it wasn't carne asada.... I will never go there again, and I will tell my peeps, not to go there..... Also, when I ask the girl what was inside of the burrito, she stated that rice, beans, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce and of course carne asada.... Who ever reads this don't go there, a non happy Mexican/American...

Best torta I have ever had! Great menu, super cute and very nice ladies working there. I can't wait to go try a burrito with the great selection but the torta was truly delicious! Only thing I didn't like was the salsa/hot sauce, it was all heat and no flavor.

Tried Lupe after many years, love the Bean and cheese with green chile and soft tostada. Very tasty and only $6.25 for bean and cheeee. Great local business.

This restaurant was highly recommended, everyone recommended the hard shell taco. I'll admit, it did not disappoint. Very good flavor, not greasy and all the ingredients tasted fresh. The only thing I felt needed improvement are the greens and red salsas. The lacked flavor and heat. The pineapple water also tasted over sweetened. The ground beef on these hard tacos tasted great! Definitely worth a second visit.

I want to start off by saying I had a burrito spot in East Los Angeles. Funny thing, though it has a very Similar name but the exact Menu, but Lupe's Restaurant is alot closer to me and tastes Great. I have ordered every burrito they have, and they are all Delicious but I Highly recommend the number #17 the Beef, Bean & Cheese with Red Sauce, warning though it is really really really Spicy, but if you can handle hot Spicy food, this burrito is for you. After eating the #17 burrito, that's the only thing I order now. Last Lupe's your my New Burrito spot and closer. Thank you and keep up the good work, your new lifetime customer

WORSE PLACE EVER! If I could give it a 0 I would. I was so excited to try this place since its in my neighborhood but the rudest people work here got my order wrong , I ordered a CHEESEBURGER which I paid extra for I took it back they had the audacity to say I didn't order that when I clearly paid extra. He knew he was wrong, took my burger back and slapped cold cheese on it when the burger was bitten couldn't even make a newly fresh cheeseburger. Please save your money I don't know how this place is still open especially when it's a "small business"Bad food, bad service.

Worst service ever. Don't get your order right. Prices aren't consistent and overpriced. The man behind the counter is rude and has no customer service skills.

Great food and inexpensive. I go every time I'm in the neighborhood. Red chile all meat burrito and hard shell tacos are the best.

The food was Ok But let's talk about the Service! First off it's pretty pricy so Please get my order right. Ended up coming home with stuff I did not order, then when I called the girl made it my fault, she was extremely RUDE! Literally talking back & raising her voice. Would not make my order right from the moment I said "hello I just got home & you must have given me the wrong order" oh man was she MAD! She interrupted me and wouldn't let me get a word in said That's what you ordered. I really never had problems here until recently. Because of this treatment I'll not be going back anymore. I'll take the drive to East La to the Original LUPES.

i ordered 2 all meat burritos and was given a burrito with tomato lettuce and guacamole. super annoyed i was not given my proper order.

Been coming here since I was a kid been ordering the same Best Bean and cheese Guacamole burrito (Now I add red chili to it ) with there home made fries and delicious guacamole cheese taquitos I'll update my post with a picture I always say I'll take a Okc an then I eat it and forget lol It's Cash ONLY don't forget

Alful experience, heard so much about this place from reviews , wanted to try a late lunch with a few family members , first off cash only and I ordered the bean cheese with green sauce and add onions, after review of menu I noticed this one did not include the cheese !! They said .75 more , forget it! The burrito was horrible and so very salty, I immediately got acid reflux For three days, I ordered also taquitos which were over fried if that's the correct wording as well as a taco which had large Ground beef pieces and no real flavor, I think I could make better at home. The hot sauce was so hot that it Was unbearable, with no real flavor just heat... Needless to say I will not go back. If I could give 0 star I would of ... sadly

What the heck happened to the burritos?? Shall I say, where's the beef?! This is the green chile with beef in red chile. I don't understand how it can be so thin. It's not a bean & cheese burrito!

This is the smaller Lupe's but I like that there's parking, it's not crowded and the food is done quickly. I usually get burritos but they have other food options as well. I ordered fries once but they were probably not fried with fresh oil.

Solid place for a quick lunch. I had a carnitas burrito and pina juice. I'd stop by for the chili relleno plate next time. There's hidden outdoor seating under a roof

Been coming for a long time now, the past few years they have been raising the prices of the food. At first whatever ok.... but now it's getting too...overpriced. Marios and Jims are cheaper. But the worst thing about Lupe's is they tell you one price on the phone and a different price when you get there. One time the girl said "$15" I said "I was told $12 over the phone", she goes "oh yeah $12". Like what?? One time I called in another order guy told me 23.00 over the phone, my husband goes to pick the food up, guy tells him $24.50. Then my husband mentions his confusion and why, the guy just ignores him and repeats the "$24.50" louder. Won't be eating there anymore.

Always great Customer Service. Always super fast processing of your food order. Always great quality tasting food. Prices have gone up a little bit over recent years, but still well worth the money for all items on the menu. I've tried various burritos, various taco styles, various meats, and everything has always been amazing. Be careful of the hot sauce as it can be pretty hot, and I generally enjoy some heat.

Terrible taste, new owners food not as it has been for many years, change of ingredients and very bland, was a landmark in the area but now just an average fast food joint

The portions are smaller than expected. I was pretty disappointed with the size of the chili cheese fries. The chicharron burrito was underwhelming when compared to other other options in the area. I wish they had rice, this location only uses beans. Likely won't be returning.

Picked up lunch there for the first time today 6/3/2020, I had the Chili Relleno burrito and it was fabulous. The flavors were perfect and the cheeses used added to the right amount of sharpness to the sweet & spiciness OC the chili. I have to say it's the very best Chili Relleno burrito I have had in a very long time. My wife had the taquito's and was pleasantly surprised that they used fresh avocado for their guacamole... We will definitely be back!

I ordered 2 fries 1 taquitos and 1 beef green chilli burrito the girl I say girl because she's not a woman or lady the way she acted she asked would I like beans and cheese with it I said yes I get home bit into it and its a bean and cheese . I call and tell her my situation and especially my son is autistic so its not like I can go back he is set in his routine. So I explain to her what happene she's like im sorry idk what you want me to do the next time you come In just tell me hi my name is so and so and you got my order wrong last time. I explained to her idk when ill be back and I always see a guy there she proceeds to laugh at me and say idk what you want me to do I can't go and take it to you. Rude lady. My family has been going there for year little girl you don't speak to people.like that. Not good business. They need to stop hiring family and hire people who want to work and are polite

We've been coming here since 1965 and have never had a bad meal! Sorry if your fries were over cooked but we love our crispy fries, special quesadilla and special burrito are to die for!

Hard shell tacos and breakfast burrito were both awful. Tossed the tiny spam, with disgusting bacon and egg burrito in the trash. $2.80 for a teeny tiny hard-shell taco that I think was picadillo. One and done!

The Mexican American food here is good (this spot does not serve Mexican food), especially if your high or drunk. Unfortunately I think the employees are high or drunk when they take your orders or make your food. This is the third time in a row they've screwed up our order. Being that I live 15 minutes away I am certainly not gonna drive back to get the burrito they charged me for but forgot to include. In the past they used give hella bags of chips with your order. On this most recent trip they only gave one small bag of chips for three burritos and 6 tacos. At least they gave us salsa. Also it's a good thing this place closes early because if they were open late someone would definitely get shot here eventually...if it hasn't happened already.

Been coming here since I was a baby! Love this place. My favorite is beef and beans and cheese with green chili. My family calls them "Blow outs" because they are so stuffed with deliciousness they tend to fall apart! Parking is on the corner of Beverly and Paramount and is hard to get to and is cramped. The inside only seats about 20 people and they are a cash only store. If you can deal with all that you are in for one of the best burritos of your life! Again, CASH ONLY!!!

I refuse to try anything else on the menu besides the #17 bean, cheese and red beef burrito. So big and tasty that it requires both hands. It's either shredded beef or barbacoa I'm not exactly sure but I'm absolutely in love with it. Plus the consistency of the flavor has not let me down once. If you love spicy ask for the red sauce inside the burrito or on the side. It's not thick at all and looks harmless but it's not and after a few minutes will make you sweat like your in the gym. IT IS CLOSED ON SUNDAYS so keep that in mind. Hope you have a chance to try it.

So I've driven by this place a few times, and decided to stop by today. The first thing I would like to mention is that this place is not a true Mexican spot and is more like Tito's tacos (which is better than this place). I ordered a hard shell taco and a #17 (Beef,beans,cheese, and red chili burrito) and a small drink. All for about 8 bucks. The hard shell taco was pretty good, but too salty for my liking. The burrito was pretty big and came with a lot of meat! BUT it was also salty!! And not spicy. Their hot sauce is pretty bland and not spicy either. What I did like was that this place had parking and a small dining area with a fireplace. The service was great and speedy! Would I come back? Maybe, if I'm craving super salty food.

John making it right by making something special for me, the grilled cheese burger! I was craving one. Only place i go too is called Apolos in Victorville. But it's Raining, cold and I had to have me a cheese and beans burritos. I told I was still Hungry but craving a burger. He asked the staff to. Hook me up. Shit hit the spot! John tells me if its not in the menu he'll make it! Love that attitude!

This place has been here since when I was a puny little kid. Though I just barely went to it the other day. It's a cash only place and they only serve Asada & Carnitas for your soft tacos. I want to say this place is quite good. They have multiple choices of items on the menu but these were the items I tried. Next time I'll get a breakfast burrito or something else but I'll be back for sure!

My son and I had a mean craving for a ground beef taco and we wanted them made and served. In other words, we didn't feel like cooking. So Lupe's came to mind. Oh how we anticipated them from the night before and just couldn't wait. Next day go to the ATM got our cash and sons in tow and went to order (all happy) our 8 tacos. Blech. Something had changed. The meat was mushy, lettuce stringy and soggy and just nasty. We each ate one and threw out the batch. Eff it. We made Boboli pizza instead. What a huge disappointment. No bueno.

Disappointed!. Just left with my bean tasting burned with no flavor. My fries burned taste like old grease. Sad!. Waste of money should have went to Lupes#2

Wow! What a yummy find! Super happy we drove here to enjoy these crunchy tacos! The burritos were delicious also! We will be back! Cash only:)

This place is always real good. Tacos are amazing and the green shredded meat burrito . Must try .

I have allways bought like maybe 10 minimum burritos for the week but the price went up just for a bean and cheese with Chile and not only did the price go up but the burritos got smaller if your going to raise the price at least keep the same size of burrito not raise and give a smaller portion
