The Best Sonoran Hot Dogs in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"This Phoenix stalwart holds down the north side of the city. The house Sonoran dog standard lands with the usual lineup but, if you’re more hungry, go for the Panzón, which piles on chorizo for extra smoke and heft. Orders move a bit slower here; plan for a mini wait and find parking hidden behind the building. The extras go beyond the usual: find Takis elotes, Hot Cheeto corn cups, and all sorts of full-tilt nachos. Three decades in, it’s still a staple when West Side stands feel too far." - McConnell Quinn

I enjoyed trying these Sonora-style hot dogs at Lupita’s. While the hot dog meat was decent but nothing special, the hot dog buns were soft, fluffy, and fresh, and the toppings added a nice touch, especially the queso and avocado. I’m not the biggest hot dog guy in general, but I’d recommend coming to this place if you’re looking for a high-quality affordable eat in the area. The fries are also decent but nothing special.

Save yourself the time, money, and frustration — this place is a disaster. The service here is unbelievably slow and unorganized. You’ll wait 25–30 minutes for something as simple as a hot dog while staff wander around acting like they don’t care. The space is tiny — maybe fits 25 people — yet twice that many are always crammed in because orders take forever. It’s uncomfortable, chaotic, and feels unsafe with cars squeezing in and out from a busy street. Prices are outrageous for what you get, and there’s no real menu or pricing — just pictures on a banner. You don’t even know what you’ll be charged until you pay. And don’t be fooled by all the 5-star reviews. They have a handwritten sign at the register offering a free dessert or meal if you show them a 5-star rating. So those glowing reviews? Totally fake. There are plenty of other places nearby that actually respect customers and know how to run a business. This one isn’t worth the wait, the price, or the headache — you’ll regret spending a single dollar here.

Great place to get an authentic Sonoran hot dog. You know this place is legit when all the spots and seats are occupied by locals. Everything is in Spanish, and it requires a little Spanish and pointing for ordering, but honestly who cares when you get really great food at great prices. 1 hot dog and some fries for <$15 is a steal nowadays. If you are looking for a meal that is filling, come here.

I’ve driven by this place so many times and thought it was just another street taco vendor. One day I got invited and I was blown away. The food was so good and the people were very nice. These are some of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had. The buns were homemade style, not your typical hot dog buns. Best hot dog buns! Do yourself a favor and stop by. I will definitely come back and recommend to anyone I know.

Interesting place and unique concept. The hot dogs were definitely different. I had the chiledogo, which was a blend of ingredients that worked well together. The hotdog itself was tender and juicy and the bread was warm and fresh. The lettuce and tomato were both unusually fresh, which just the right color. The French fries were cooked perfectly and flavorful. The atmosphere was not the best. You are situated outside on a busy and loud road, the menus should be in English as well as Spanish, the parking was inadequate and congested, and for some reason most of the guests liked to peel out of the parking lot at high speeds. The staff was friendly. The prices were reasonable. I would go back.

Cool little place with lots of outdoor seating, our first visit here and we will be back. As soon as we walked up we were seated and our order taken, the food was delivered to the table fresh and hot. The Sonoran dog was one of the best I've had, all the toppings were delicious and they loaded them up. My daughter really enjoyed her hot cheeto elote. The Pina fruit drink was so good and had all the little delicious pineapple pieces in the bottom. We also tried the Melon drink, which was a first and really good...I'd say like a mix of watermelon, honey dew and cantaloupe. We drove a long way to try it out but would happily make the drive again! By the time we left around 9pm they were getting super busy and had the music flowing! Perfect for a cool evening meal.

This is by far the best Sonoran hotdog bread I have ever had. The Sonoran dogs are all amazing because the bread is ridiculous. They have a lot of other options as well and prices are very reasonable. Everything is basically five dollars to $10. They have a bunch of Agua Frescas and the vibe reminds me of laid-back mom and pops outdoor bbq.

Really nice experience. Sonoran dog is good; Panzon dog is also good. Could use a little more chorizo, but tastes great. Fries are delicious steak fries. Everything is affordable, $5 for dogs. $10 for dog and fries combo. Other menu options also. Bottled coke is a bit pricey at $4 for 12 oz. Prices are not listed here on site; you're ordering without knowing the prices unless you ask. Couldn't find any prices on the Google listing either. Head man of staff is very friendly and welcoming. Got served food in under 8 minutes. Nice fixins stand accessible with many sauces, mushrooms, pickles, peppers, etc. Atmosphere is cozy for being outside, but the traffic is occasionally loud. The hot dogs are the highlight and worth your trip.
