Our dinner at Lure last night was the perfect highlight to a deliberate detour. We’re on a road trip to Los Angeles, but purposefully chose Ventura as a mid-point stop to visit Patagonia’s headquarters. My partner, a graduate student at UCB, is researching a capstone project on Patagonia’s business philosophy. For us, this visit is about more than research, and it’s about physically connecting with the city and the ethos that Patagonia embodies. A huge shout-out to the team at Lure! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was excellent, the ambiance was perfect, and the service was outstanding. Highlights: The weekday happy hour (3 PM–6 PM) is a true gem. Standouts include the amazing charbroiled oysters ($8 for three) and the delicious crab cakes served with greens. Don’t miss the chowder. It's an absolute must-order at just $3. I’ve attached the menu for reference. Overall, it’s a fantastic offering of great food at an affordable price. Service & Atmosphere: The staff was wonderfully welcoming and efficient. Our food arrived incredibly quickly, with virtually no wait. As someone who often gets nervous ordering and tends to mispronounce things, I especially appreciated our waitress's patience and kindness as she helped confirm my order. Another highlight is the space itself. The decor strikes a perfect balance between modern and cozy, with comfortable bar seating. It was lovely to see several solo diners there, genuinely enjoying their meals. My experience at Lure was truly memorable. I feel lucky to have dined there, and it certainly made Ventura feel all the more likable. I can’t recommend it enough.

We had a great dinner with excellent service. We had the cheddar biscuits which were delicious. We also had the Vancouver oysters and the mussels with chorizo which was delicious. The entrees had mix reviews. My fish and chips were great though they needed some salt. My lady had the lobster ravioli which was drowned in cheese. Personally I don't mind all that cheese but it seemed overpowering to the flavor of the ravioli. But all in all a very lovely end to our day trip to Ventura and for 3 appetizers, 2 entrees And 2 non alcoholic drinks for $110, a great bargain !

I recently discovered Lure Fish House thanks to its fantastic online reviews. I was so impressed that I ended up going for happy hour two days in a row! I absolutely loved their seafood tower, oyster shooters, and biscuits. The sundae was also a delicious treat to end the meal. The pepper dish was a bit too spicy for my taste, but overall, the food was great and the service was excellent. I will definitely be back for more!

Lure Fish House is one of my go-to happy hour spots. Happy hour runs Monday–Friday from 3:00–6:00 pm and Sunday from 11:30 am–5:00 , which is honestly elite timing. First of all, the complimentary bread deserves its own shoutout. Warm, comforting, and dangerous in the best way. I’m obsessed with their oyster bar, especially the Grassy Bar oysters and the charbroiled oysters. I always order the house-made chowder 50/50, it’s half Classic New England and half Veracruz fish chowder. It’s rich, flavorful, and truly the best of both worlds. I’m a big fan of their shared plates, which is where Lure really shines. Favorites include the bacon cheddar biscuits with whipped honey goat cheese, crab cakes, and a classic Caesar salad that never disappoints. Everything is well-executed and perfect for sharing. Their specialty cocktails are also worth ordering and pair well with the food, especially during happy hour. The vibe is lively but not overwhelming, making it perfect for after-work drinks or a casual dinner with friends. I personally love sitting at the bar or oyster bar, it’s the best way to experience the space. Service has always been friendly and efficient, Parking is easy too. Free parking is available in the structure behind the restaurant, which is a huge plus in downtown Ventura. I honestly never make it to dessert because I’m always completely full, and that says a lot. Consistent, welcoming, and a solid go-to for seafood and happy hour in Ventura.

Google
My wife and I recently dined at Lure Fish House in Ventura for dinner during a quick visit, drawn in by its stellar Yelp reviews. Even on a Tuesday night, the place was buzzing, which is always a good sign. The vibe is cool with nice decor—think coastal chic without being over-the-top. The service was a highlight; our server, Rachel, was an absolute star, super friendly, and on top of everything. We kicked things off with steamed clams and the fish chowder Veracruz as appetizers. The clams were plump and meaty, a solid start. The chowder packed a lot of flavor, though I was a bit bummed it was light on actual fish. The house bread was a nice surprise—crispy crust, soft inside, perfect for mopping up the clam broth. For mains, I went with their famous dab fish, which didn’t disappoint. The skin was crispy, the meat flaky and tender, and it came with two sides, which was a nice touch. My wife got the lobster ravioli, and while it was tasty, the lobster filling was a bit sparse for her liking. Dessert was the Basque cheesecake with strawberry. It was decent but denser than the classic burnt Basque style I was hoping for, and I was kinda expecting fresh strawberries instead of the canned strawberries with sauce. Parking was an easy with a free public lot nearby, which is always a win. To sum it up, Lure Fish House is a good choice for seafood lovers. Great atmosphere, awesome service, and mostly hits the mark on the food. I’d come back again if I’m back in Ventura!l

Google
Absolutely recommended! We really enjoyed everything! The food was wonderful, and the service was excellent. We were seated very quickly, served right away, and the dishes were prepared and presented in no time. Everything was delicious—from the appetizers to the hot dishes and soups. The salad, oysters, calamari, fish, and all the other dishes we tried were fresh and flavorful. Highly recommended!

Went in on a Saturday for lunch with 3 people. Was able to be seated at a high top table straight away. Great vibe, friendly and quick service. We ordered dirty martinis and when we asked for more olive brine they happily obliged. We ordered fresh and broiled oysters to share as well as mussels abs lobster roll. All were fantastic! Even the bread with whipped butter was delightful! Loved this spot.

First time coming here after hearing how great it was, figured we needed to try it! It was great! We sat outside and the day was beautiful with the nearby ocean breeze it was perfect! The inside was very trendy and modern with everything very first class. Our waiter Jairo was very attentive and gave us great recommendations on our food and drinks! The food was very tasty and well prepared! Strongly recommend when you're in the area!

Yelp
I feel like lure fish house is always a hit. My usual location is the Santa Barbara one but I was closer to the Ventura location so I decided to give it a try to see if the flavors were consistent between the locations. Spoiler alert: the flavors were consistent! I ordered the Baja Kanpachi which came with two sides. I chose the sweet potato fries and the cilantro corn salad. The Kanpachi tasted fresh, buttery and was well seasoned. The sweet potato fries were fresh and sweet and didn't taste like it was from a bag of frozen fries. The cilantro corn salad also tasted very fresh and paired nicely with the Kanpachi. Service was decent. This location has less seating than the one in Santa Barbara and is much smaller. They have a lot of outdoor seating though. There is free parking located in the parking structure right behind lure fish house. Would recommend!

Yelp
10 out of freaking 10!!!! An incredible find while we're here on vacation. I could not believe the options on the happy hour! Ashley was a phenomenal server bringing the kindness and energy from the start. From the shrimp cocktail to the oysters to the clam chowder to the key lime pie. Everything is a winner. This will be added to our must have list when we're back in town.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the visit. The food was phenomenal. I got the lime shrimp pasta. The portion is large and I couldn't finish! Would work for two. Partner got the burger as he's not big on seafood. He gives it an 8/10. The garlic pasta with chicken was pretty good as well. (Normally comes with some kind of shellfish) Friend ordered and I sampled. The anacapa tower was so good!! The albacore ponzu was addicting and I would come back just for that! I didn't get the muscles but was told they were good. The civeche was good too, a little spicy. I did not like the clam chowder... I ended up sending for back. We sat in the patio and it was wonderful. Definitely recommend. The inside is very pretty. All in all, this will definitely be a new favorite place to go while visiting Ventura!

Yelp
For a large-scale chain restaurant, I gotta admit I was pleasantly surprised. Our quartet got promptly seated in a comfy booth with good natural light (there's a separate bar area too, a bit more rowdy on that side) in the dining area, pleasant enough, with sorta modern-meets-nautical decor. A basket of fresh sourdough bread, a delightful server with all the right questions, a couple drinks and all was good. My miso salmon bowl came out perfect, with a nice slab of fish perfectly cooked, and paired really nice with my dry and not-too-sweet Prosecco. My partner's ceviche was also spot on, with just the right amount of heat. Fries were a hit too. Good food in a pleasant spot with pretty dang good service. Yea, recommend.

Yelp
Came here during thanksgiving week and it was packed at night! Not sure if it's because people are trying to hide from the cold which I'm guilty of. I got the Grass-fed Double Smash burger and crab cakes this time and unfortunately have to say they were not tasty. I would give them a 3 star for effort but bumping this up to a 4 star because of my wonderful waitress, Yamilex. I think the issue with the smash burger was that it was too clean? I needed more cheese, bacon, or something to make it more memorable. I don't even know what was wrong with the Crab Cakes but it was average at best, definitely had better. Shout out to Yamilex though! Checked in on me often with a very friendly attitude. Wish I could've told you how I really felt about the meal but I feel bad causing trouble! I also have to give a shout out for the Emma Sabo working at the front! She always kept a calm demeanor even though people kept coming in by the door to the point even I was annoyed!

Yelp
very rarely do you visit a spot and want almost everything on the menu - this place did that for me!! delicious and very fresh plates with a beautiful sweet vibe (outdoor seating preferred but inside cute too with booths & lots of space etc) nice & attentive service!! yummy food & great choice for a seafood moment

Yelp
Love Lure! Let's start with the bread- always fresh and warm, straight out of the oven. Really cutely decorated and great for celebrating any occasion. As a vegetarian, I love the harvest salad. The drinks are also amazing!!! 10/10 always come here when I have friends visiting from out of town.

Yelp
5/5 seafood spot. It deserves it's 5 stars. Located in downtown Ventura, Lure offers a very good offering of seafood and more. Everything here was delicious (except the clam chowder which was kind of meh - but not terrible). Calamari was fresh and fried well. Batter didn't have much flavor itself. Ahi tuna was a generous portion of fish seared to perfection. The swordfish was unique and enjoyable entree. The portions here are fair especially for the price point. Service was top notch. Food 5 Service 5 Ambience 4.5 Value 4.75

Yelp
Lure hands down is my favorite seafood restaurant! They have so many options and all the flavors no matter what you order are chef's kiss! This evening we had a larger party, so we were able to reserve the private dining room. It feel extremely VIP providing more privacy and free rein to be loud or just be able to hear each other! Our server for the evening was Rolo and he was super friendly, always making sure we had beverages in hand. And when we needed pics he was more than willing to take them for us! We ordered apps to share amongst the group: pop rock shrimp, calamari and charbroiled oysters. The pop rock shrimp is my new favorite, lightly breaded with the perfect amount of spice. The calamari seemed a little sparse, but still tasted delicious. You can never go wrong with the charbroiled oysters either! The majority of the group ordered the sand dabs with Brussels sprouts and the Parmesan potato cake, I personally ordered the lure cioppino. The spice level was a little more than I was expecting, but it was so good I was sopping up all the juice with my bread! All of the seafood was cooked to perfection and tasted so fresh. Highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion if you're a seafood lover and take advantage of their happy hour! Hands down one of the best in town!

Yelp
AMAZING BACON CHEDDAR BISCUITS! EVEN BETTER SHRIMP! Ambiance: 5/5 I think the restaurant is beautiful! It is very clean and the decorations are a 10. The lighting, the restrooms, and the overall setup is really appreciated. Service: 4/5 I feel like I didn't have the best service, but it also wasn't the worst. I'm young, I was in the restaurant by myself and when I am, what usually happens is people think I might not be worth waiting on/not going to tip lol *sigh* Joke is always on them. Food: 4.5/5 Shrimp: 5! Amazing. Crunchy and delicious Lemonade: 5! Not too sweet- just right. Bacon cheddar biscuits: 5! AMAZING! Lobster ravioli: 4! The save could use...something, not sure what- but it was actually pretty good. Cheesecake: 4! Very different tasting, but liked it! Price: 4/5 $90.00 with 25% tip. Everything was worth it. There was not a single thing that wasn't worth the price. All around: 5/5 Totally worth going for a pretty good dinner :)

Yelp
Lure never disappoints!! Especially their happy hour which is generously from 11:30am-5pm on Sundays!! My family has been coming here forever and their quality has stayed top notch and is consistent. We came in on a Sunday afternoon for happy hour and sat at the oyster bar. Our server was attentive and our food came out really fast! We ordered 2 grilled rock fish tacos, 1 seafood ceviche, and the charbroiled oysters. Everything was so flavorful and did not disappoint!! Tacos were a 10/10, I find that grilled ones can be bland or dry sometimes but this one had all the right spices and sauce pairings but didn't over shine the fish! The charbroiled oysters were our favorite, another 10/10!! Loaded with garlic and butter but not overwhelming or overcooked, the texture was perfect and the flavor was spot on. It wasn't fishy at all and was very fresh. Pro tip, use the garlic butter to dip the table bread . The ceviche was a 7/10 for us, a little too much lime and could've used more salt and seasoning but overall was definitely really fresh. Could use a couple more chips as well. The value at Lure is unbeatable, for 2 people our meal costs $30! It's also located in such a great spot with plenty of shops around downtown Ventura. Parking is also super convenient with street and free garage parking. The restaurant itself is really nice and chill with laid back beach vibes and a good amount of seating. They also have a nice outdoor patio! They're regular menu is also delicious, we will definitely be back like always!

Yelp
When in Ventura, venture to Lure Fish House... Start off the meal with bread service. The Charbroiled Oysters are so delicious. The Fried Cod Fish Tacos are solid. The service is friendly and enjoyed my meal by the ocean.

Yelp
Ventura Lure is our favorite location, ALWAYS food is consistent, absolutely fresh and delicious. Service is top notch and such positive and happy people. Location and ambiance is great. Our server was Andrew (Oyster) he was so so nice, hardworking, friendly, knowledgeable, funny, efficient and excellent customer service.

Yelp
Came when summer was about to end. Felt like every location had good reviews n this particular location didn't disappoint. I was sad that they closed street parking in the front bcoz the pandemic ruined it. The parking structure nearby was fairly packed n spaces were small. The restaurant was pretty big. Best part was I didn't have to wait. We came for lunch. Service was pretty good n attentive. We ordered half dozen raw oysters. We ordered all three types that they offered. By far the best one was the Kumamoto oyster. It was 5 cents more but well worth it. Size was bigger n a nice balance of briny n sweetness. Also got spicy seafood ceviche. Easy choice was I'm a sucker for anything ceviche. The refreshing taste of the shrimp n the fish along w the chili peppers mixed in w some sourness matched perfectly w the tortilla chips. Also ordered the hamachi crudo. The 6 pcs of hamachi tasted fresh and the presentation was spot on. We added the lobster roll. The bun was good and the portion of the lobster was generous. The tequila lime shrimp pasta was not bad but it wasn't special either. Probably the only dish that was not worth the price however. Nothing in it stood out. Under the daily catch menu, I got the pacific rockfish. The fish just didn't taste as good grilled as it was steamed like how it was prepared in the seafood ceviche. However the 2 sides of sautéed spinach (amazing) n corn salad were able to save the dish. Overall, I liked this establishment. I definitely would like to try their other foods as well as their dinner menu.

Yelp
Leah was absolutely fantastic. I could only hope to have her again in the bar area for happy hour. From the moment we sat down, she was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She consistently checked on us, made sure our drinks and food were perfect, and anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive. Her positive energy and professionalism truly elevated our experience. I cannot thank her enough for such outstanding service--she is a real asset and the kind of server that keeps guests coming back.

Yelp
It was delicious! My first time and we had to go back again, the Camarillo location is way better in my option for ambiance but the food and service were great at both places. Lauren (I think) at Camarillo and Kayla (I think) in Ventura were both sweet with spot on recommendations. The OYSTERS! The clam chowder and the portion sizes were huge.
google avatar

Nooshi B.

Yelp
Great ambiance and service! Hubby and I grabbed lunch here our first day in Ventura. We started with amazing oysters that were so fresh and not fishy at all. I had their sea bass and my husband ordered the ahi tuna. Both were delicious as were the sides we got. Prices were fair and we'd definitely come back aah

Yelp
Service- unhappy. Had come for happy hour but is first come first serve and couldn't accommodate a table of 5 inclusive of 1 child. Hostess didn't make that clear nor the seating requirement which was off putting. We got seated towards the back near the bathroom and was advised couldn't place high chair opposite end of table where there would be less foot traffic but instead had to be near the bathroom. Almost was going to walk out and change restaurants but my fellow diners were more appeasable Food- calamari was delicious with nice fried exterior. Crab cakes were good, not wow. Charbroiled oysters also were also meh- chargrilled are better and the oysters were so tiny. Overpowered by the butter. Mac n cheese was decadent and rockfish was flavored well and cooked well. Because of the service, probably wouldn't come back here again and recommend going elsewhere first unfortunately.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday celebration and it did not disappoint! We sat at the bar and the bartenders were so friendly and talkative. It was packed on a Friday night so definitely make sure to make a reservation or get there early. The bartender convinced us to get cocktails before our bottle of wine and the espresso martinis were delicious. We started off with the pop rock shrimp, which was so crispy and juicy and had a little kick with a Sriracha glaze. The oysters were delicious and decided on doing raw instead of charbroiled. We ended up splitting the Seabass and got a side of mushrooms, which paired really well together. Very fun downtown vibe. Make sure you dress up to come here as it is a little bit more upscale. It's pretty loud and crowded, but the booths in the dining room helped to give it a little tucked away feel
google avatar

Moses M.

Yelp
I came in on a Saturday evening around 6 with a party of 6 and was able to get a table within 15 minutes. There were seats at the bar while I waited and the bartenders were quick enough to make me a bloody Mary and my wife an espresso martini within our wait time. Bloody Mary runs around $16 and had a large shrimp. Olives. Celery, and horseradish...just the way I like it. Staff is extremely nice and easy to talk to. Food was exceptional. We ordered the oysters (raw and charred), lobster ravioli, shrimp lime pasta, shishito peppers, and crab cakes. Everything was chefs kiss...but shout goes out to the charred oysters. Those are a must try for seafood lovers. PRO TIP: Don't go directly home after...walk your food off at the promenade which is just around the block. If your a drinker there are also plenty of great bars down at the promenade as well.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to eat in Ventura! I love fish and oysters and their selection is outstanding. I've eaten my way around the menu and it wasn't until my last trip that I found out they have happy hour M-F from 3-6pm! Prices are a few dollars less for the same size portions and drinks on the regular menu on a limited selection of items. I think I ordered everything on the limited happy hour menu! A stand out were the sliders, which I never would have ordered at a fish place, but with the caramelized onions, they were the best sliders I've ever eaten! I got an assortment of oysters and liked the Baja and pacific northwest ones the best. They offer all the usual condiments, and their mignonnette was great. Crisp calamari with fresh marinara, flavorful crab cakes, light clams with great basil broth, and surprisingly excellent fish tacos, both battered and grilled fish on heirloom masa tortillas with heaps toppings and a fiery hot sauce that were practically a meal in and of itself! I loved the Lure martini with absolut, freshly squeezed grapefruit and lime juice. Service was on point for every visit even when the rush came in for the last minutes of happy hour.
google avatar

Monica Y.

Yelp
Each time we visit, the service is superb. The staff is friendly and helpful. I love the restaurant ambiance. Yesterday we sat the patio for the first time and unless it is cold or rainy, I will probably choose that option from now on. (Although happy hour doesn't apply to patio seating) The food is amazing. Every single item in the menu is great.
google avatar

Lori D.

Yelp
So excited I stopped here. So many locals recommended it. The seafood was fresh, perfectly cooked and flavorful. I could have eaten three bowls of the butternut squash. I sat at a high top near the bar. Ambiance was great. Service was quick and friendly. Wish I lived closer so I could go back!

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday, and the wait was 40 minutes. Keep an eye out for texts and calls because they are strict about arriving on time when your table is ready (they will kick you off the waitlist if you're late) They gave us bread to start off the meal. The bread was warm and soft. We got the sea bass skewers for the appetizers (comes with 2 for $19 and $9 for each additional skewer). The sea bass wasn't very tender, and the sauce was too sweet. For my entree, I got the Cioppino ($35). The fish was unbelievably dry and hard. The soup also was watered down and lacked flavor. The mussels/clams were solid. The scallops and shrimp were tender. The Cioppino comes with this garlic bread, which was good. I tried my bf's ahi tuna, and I was surprised by the flavor and the tenderness. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the meal here, especially for the wait.

Yelp
Lure Fish House is one of the most rated spots in Ventura and highly rated at that so we were eager to try it while visiting the area. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly. When we arrived for dinner on Thursday, the indoors was packed. We were quoted 35 minutes for a table but bar seating was open so we were able to snag something right away. We did get a text message 10 minutes later that a table was ready so the time estimate was pretty off. We started with a bloody mary and the pumpkin pie martini. Both drinks were pretty tasty, depending if you want something savory or sweet. Only comment is the shrimp topper for the bloody looked plump but was quite frozen. For food, we got a bowl of the Veracruz Fish Chowder which was a miss for us. It lacked a lot of depth and had minimal fish - tasted more like the bottom of the barrel and the bowl size was quite small. We also got the Pacific Rockfish Daily catch with sauteed mushrooms and the parmesan potato cake. The fish was overcooked but seasoned well and the tartare sauce was good. I really liked the potato cake which was griddled nicely and had i liked the veggies in there too. Would order that again! Overall, we had an OK food experience here and could likely be we just didn't like what we ordered so I would consider coming back and trying different items.

Yelp
Came for my birthday celebration dinner! This place was packed but we were able to get a seat outside within 15 minutes on a Saturday night. There were heat lamps to keep warm and the atmosphere was beautifully decorated. The service was accommodating and the food was delicious! Great for date night

Yelp
Came here without any reservations on a Saturday night and had to wait roughly 30 minutes to get seated, which I didn't mind at all since there's a small waiting area inside the restaurant. This restaurant is huge, with seating indoors and outdoors. The ambiance was nice, it was definitely a busy restaurant but still had that cozy feel to it. The staff was nice and took care of us really well. She recommended dishes and always came by our table to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our food. Oysters (5/5): We got 2 rounds of oysters. I don't remember the type of oysters we got but our server helped us pick them out. The first ones (small) were so good and fresh that we ordered the second round of oysters (big). They were also really good, and I actually liked them better because there was more meat/substance to them. Highly recommend these. Ahi Ceviche (5/5): Delicious appetizer. The chips it came with was a nice driver of the ceviche. I thought everything came together really well. Tequila Lime Shrimp Pasta (5/5): Wow this dish was so good! I loved the sauce, it was so good! There was also sufficient amount of shrimp in the dish. The bread that it comes with was also good and was a nice addition to the dish or to be used to dip in the pasta sauce. We ordered two cocktails (I don't remember the names of them) but the blue drink was amazing. It wasn't strong in the alcohol taste which I personally like, and it was milky and a bit sweet. This restaurant exceeded expectations on all fronts, from the service to the ambience to the food. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Loved Lure Fish House! This has all the vibes of a modern seafood restaurant with oyster bar, and seafood galore. The overall vibe is upbeat yet classic modern. There is plenty of seating both indoor and outdoors (patio). I have to say that we were forgotten for a period of time as the hostess didn't inform the server from the oyster bar that we were in the mid patio. Despite this- the service was still good and friendly minus this mishap. The staff was incredibly apologetic and acknowledged their mishap. Onto the good food- the standout was the charbroiled oysters that have a dash of Parmesan and oil- so good! Definitely gives New Orleans vibes. We also opted for salmon and linguini both equally delicious- and nice portion sizes. Thanks for the great time!

Yelp
Fresh fish restaurant located in the cute downtown of Ventura - just a short walk from the marina and pier. Our server Michael went above and beyond to help us when choosing items off their very large menu! He was very attentive and responsive - keeping our water and wine filled, and getting sides as needed! Ordered the Alaskan halibut with asparagus and their potato cake. The potato cake was so delicious - it's mashed potatos with a light crust around it after searing in a pan. Fish was cooked and seasoned very well with a light crust on the outside and flakey and white inside. Second dish was ono with fried Brussels sprouts and a light miso sauce (little too greasy and deep fried for my liking). We also had a potato cake with this one. The restaurant makes their own homemade tartar sauce - which is light, tangy and creamy! Table service also includes Sourdough bread served warm with butter - and was heaven! No GF bread, unfortunately. Highly recommend a stop next time you are in the area! Inside ambiance is super cute and modern. Very clean!

Yelp
Eddie was AMAZING! He really took care of us. The charbroiled oysters were fantastic, the 'fresh-from-the-oven' sourdough bread was a great accompaniment, the seafood tower is a must order! Our last visit was a few years ago and sometimes you aren't sure if your current experience will live up to your memories! It surpassed our memories! May need to go back for dinner! Thanks for a great happy hour!

Yelp
Back again. Way different experience this time. Bacon cheddar biscuits were fantastic! Split swordfish wife my wife. It was cooked just right. Server was on it. Manager stopped by to check in. Will be back.

Yelp
Great service! Had the Ventura Limoncello Martini. Sweet and tangy! Miso Salmon bowl with extra veggies. Clam chowder was creamy and filling. Loved the chewy clams and soft potatoes Great seasoning. Food was delicious! Also liked that we could talk even though the restaurant was busy. Not too noisy. Would go back!

Yelp
Sunday happy hour: 10 dollar cocktails were above average. Ceviche was delicious. The shrimp was excellent. The clam chowder was very good. The mussels were a very good sized portion. The trout almondine was very good. The star of the show was the lunch special rockfish. Big and meaty piece for only 18 dollars. Always love this place

Yelp
I found myself in Oxnard and wanted to find a good restaurant that highlighted California cuisine. Lure came up as the highest rated restaurant in Ventura, so I paid a visit. The bar offers the full menu, so I took a seat. The bartender brought freshly baked bread and I settled on the sand dabs for my main course and charbroiled oysters as an appetizer. I paired it with a local chardonnay. Sand dabs remind me quite a bit of Dover sole. The meal was fantastic, the wait staff were attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Awesome experience! If you're looking for a good spot for dinner in Ventura, this is a worthy choice.

Yelp
Dylan Arevalo at the front was a kind fella. Helped me find a good table and met my needs!

Yelp
YUM! Lure is a go-to for my family. We've been coming here for years and love the fresh seafood. Our server was very nice and attentive. The inside is decorated nicely and has a naval feel to it. Perfect for the beachy vibes downtown ventura gives! After a long day at Santa Barbara and Ventura, we had such a good time eating here!

Yelp
Came for dinner and there was a 20 minute wait even on a Sunday night. We were able to be seated right away though since we found a table at the bar. Service: Service here was pretty slow. It took a really long time for our food to come out. It also took a long time for our dishes to be cleared. It was hard to flag down staff when we needed something. We had to ask twice for ranch. Food: We ordered - * half dozen of oysters - oysters were very fresh and juicy * swordfish with french fries and maple miso brussels sprouts - the swordfish was so so to me but I really enjoyed the brussels sprouts * small new england clam chowder * Fresh Squeezed Lure Martini - very refreshing Pretty solid place that I think is worth trying if you're ever in the area.

Yelp
If we are ever in Ventura again we are coming back here. Yes, it's a little pricier but you really do get what you pay for. The first night we ordered just clam chowder and drinks bc it was just that kind of night. The following night we ordered a feast lol. We came during happy hour and ordered their watermelon margarita and the berries one. We tried the mussels, clams, poke bowl, lobster roll, calamari, and the lobster ravioli. I'll list my top faves to the not so great 1. The mussels were fresh, plump and so tasty. They came in a delicious red sauce- dip the bread they give you in this sauce. YW 2. The lobster roll had huge pieces of lobster and came in a perfectly toasted roll. This was so worth it. 3. The clams were flavorful but a little saltier than I'd like. Also dip your bread in this sauce. 4. Poke bowl was just ok apparently- my daughter said. 5. The drinks were good but could have been a little stronger. They were on the lighter side. 6. I ordered the lobster ravioli bc it's one of their popular dishes, but it was my least fave. There wasn't enough lobster in the ravioli and the sauce was just ok for me. 7. I usually love calamari. This one was bland and lacked some flavor. It was also pretty oily. I wasn't a fan. Overall, we had a great experience dining here. The servers were super friendly both of the times we visited. The seating is comfortable and family friendly and the lighting is great for dates. It has a very relaxing and chill ambiance that we really appreciated. They also have an oyster bar but we didn't make our way over.

Yelp
Wow, I guess I forgot to review Lure the last 5 times I've been here--probably because we don't want it to get any more crowded LOL! Recently, we've been making the lure happy hour our dinner spot before a play or other event in downtown Ventura. In the past we tried Lure HH before a dinner reso somewhere else but the Lure HH food is so good it ruined our planned dinner elsewhere. Our go to dinner for 2 is to share the tuna ponzu-hold the serranos (to keep my wife happy)--It's a generous amount of high grade tuna and very flavorful. We also get 2 orders(#3/order) of the HH grilled oysters--incredibly delicious. Drinks are also inexpensive during HH. Some Happy hours drop the price but also drop the amount in 1/2--not lure. Rachael was also amazing--attended to our every need with a smile. we will be back--maybe we can get ourselves to try something else on the HH menu but it will be a challenge not to repeat our favs.

Yelp
If I'm going to visit the Lure, the Downtown Ventura location will always be my #1 pick. Love the location, love the vibe, and love the food. Realistically, happy hour (M-F 3-6p) is where it's at here. They have some great happy hour food and drinks at good prices. Their Pan Roasted mussels are some of my favorite - generous portion with a delicious sauce that's great for dipping. Other favorite include their oysters (of course!), ahi ceviche, and crispy calamari. Off their regular menu, their lobster roll and cioppino are also big hits. No matter what we order, their fish is always tastes fresh and full of flavor. Their Red Sangria will always be my go-to drink here. Sangria can be hit or miss, but their sangria is one of my favorites. Can really taste that sweeter, fruiter flavor, and it doesn't taste watered down. They also offer sourdough bread and butter as a starter - don't forget to ask for it! Super yummy. Parking can be a bit rough here if it's a busy time. You can usually find parking in the parking structure, and Lure does have it's own dedicated parking area inside you can look for. Great choice for dinner, whether it be on a date, with friends, with family, or solo. Whichever way you spin it, you will leave satisfied and happy.

Yelp
Customer service done right. After a mixed bag of emotions leaving my last visit at Lure Fish House, the manager, Reagan, was quick to respond to my review and reach out in regards to my experience. She sincerely apologized for my previous visit and inquired more in depth about my concerns--showing genuine care for the restaurant's growth. She then invited me back to dine at the fish house, and took the time to seat my party & gave me a hearty welcome. Our server, Kaitlynn, was absolutely delightful. She consistently made sure that our waters were refilled, food came correctly, and we were comfortable. The seafood is always fresh here and with the improved service this second time around, I was 100% satisfied. Thank you so much for caring about your customers and building this positive relationship!

Yelp
It's a beautiful day in Ventura. We had a recommendation for Lure. They have an outside dining area. Our server, Genesis, took our order of miso maple glazed sea bass. We got some fries and clam chowder to share. The food is excellent. The service. And there's nothing better than enjoying a lunch in the fresh air. If you're in Ventura, you gotta try this place.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Lure in Ventura after having such a great experience at the Santa Barbara location a few years ago. Our server was Joel and he was such an attentive server. He made sure we got what we ordered, had fresh bread for us, made sure or drinks were refilled and provided our birthday girl a birthday dessert! I got the linguini with clams and it really hit the spot. I was looking forward to trying one of their pasta dishes and this was it. In addition to clams in the pasta already, it also served with fresh clams to de-shell. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the flavor was wonderful! Definitely need to come back sooner than a few years!

Yelp

Yelp
Overall the service and decor of the restaurant were amazing. Loved the feeling ocean feeling. We ordered the Sally Sand Dabs and the Tequila Like Shrimp Pasta. Both were rich in flavor, but felt too rich. The first bites of the fish were amazing, but the butter taste got a bit much. The pasta was great at first but was hard to finish.
