The Best Wine Bars and Restaurants in Chicago | Eater Chicago

"The West Town outpost of Lush aims to be all things for its customers year-round. During the summer, it’s a popular neighborhood hang for the ample patio seating. In the winter, guests cozy up to the best seats in the house, near the fireplace. House-cured olives, artisan cheeses, prepared gourmet meals, and more may be purchased from the market. And the restaurant offers a Parisian cafe-style setting for those looking to get out of the house over a bottle or two of vino. Selections vary from cool regional finds to international stars. Lush also has a location in Roscoe Village." - Ashok Selvam

Basically fraudulent service. My friend and I showed up after dinner looking for a bottle to purchase & take home. We walk in & were greeted by the bartender Lucas. He was kind & explained that we could purchase a bottle to take home. He also explained that if we wanted to open the bottle in the establishment, it would be an additional $15. No worries on our end, as we just wanted to snag a bottle & head home. So we peruse for a while & head back to the bar to ask him for a recommendation. He chooses a bottle for us & we decide it’ll work. My friend says something along the lines of “but how do we know if we’ll like it?” Before I can even respond, he slides us two glasses, cracks it open, and pours us both a glass. I said “well, we wanted to take it with us & now you’ve opened it….how is that going to work?” He shrugs it off. Fine. After he walks away to tend to other customers, he comes back with our bill & what do I find? The extra $15 for opening a bottle in the establishment. AFTER we had reiterated serval times that we intended to take the bottle with us. When I brought it to his attention, he insisted that he’d told us about it. Yes, he had. Which is WHY we’d agreed to choose a bottle & go home with it. It was HIM that decided to open the bottle against our wishes to “try” and give himself that additional $15, on top of the tip my friend had given. Not a good look. We felt taken advantage of. Would pass on this place.

Very nice local bar with huge wine selection and amazing charcuterie pairings. They also have happy hour and you can get a flight of wine for $15, the bartender was really helpful in picking wines to try and buy some for the house. Service is a bit slow as they only had one person, but wine comes quite quickly.

Loved their alley/patio that's tucked away. Very chill, laid-back, and fantastic oysters, charcuterie, and sangria.

Such a lovely hidden gem. Our server Jeff was truly fantastic. We told him what type of wine and alcohol we liked and he brought out what he thought we’d like and it was fantastic. Such a great experience. Unique, curated towards each person and just amazing. Definitely recommend.

This place is a hidden gem. The food menu is truly amazing (although it’s not huge as they don’t have a full kitchen). Staff are super nice and you can take anything you want from the store and have them open the wine for you, but the menus of beers, cocktails and a wine is more than enough to satisfy you. Even managed to find buck-a-shuck oysters when we came. Check out there super cute outside area with a mural than took months to make for your perfect insta moment and some cute string lights and a secluded unique date venue outside but out of the wind. It’s a great place, highly recommended. Also strongly recommend to try the veggie burger. It’s a mix of grain and mushroom but tastes more like real meat than some of the fake meat you get!

The wine was good. The environment (when I went) was a tad disorganized. The individuals prepping food put trays in areas not associated with high end wine bars. They just sat it on a container at the bar. It appears the owner was eating chicken near the front door after taking my card and check but never brought it back. He continued to eat chicken next to the front door without giving card and check back after processing. If I was a customer, the first thing I don’t want to see is something eating behind the counter. Especially when you charge $24 a glass (the wine was worth it but doesn’t align to a culture that so unsophisticated that they eat at the entrance of their own establishment). I doubt I’ll be ver come back. I will not recommend this place. I want love places to succeed but when they do not deliver I cannot enforce such a slow, incompetent and disorganized established. Such a shame.

We did the Sunday 10 dollar tasting. The wines were fantastic and Nabeel was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Lovely, low key atmosphere

Another good wine bar with a good selection and a satisfying ambiance. Friendly service and a reasonably stocked wine shop. Comfortable
