Luya Omakase - Review - Park Slope - New York - The Infatuation

"In Park Slope, Luya Omakase does sub-$100 sushi at a small counter. It’s $88 for 16 courses, with a few appetizers like snow crab wanmono, 10 pieces of nigiri, and donburi and a hand roll at the end. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

I've now gone here three times (twice for dinner and one for lunch), and I'm ready to call this my favorite omakase spot in the neighborhood. I love how thoughtful Chef Wei is about the menu. It's clear he puts in a lot of effort into the ingredients and flavors of the meal. He aims to change things up with the season and I was shocked (in a positive way) with how different the menu was between each visit. On top of that, he's incorporated ingredients that I've never had at other places, and I love that creativity. I've had both Chef Wei and Chef Jordan as the chef for my meal and both of them are absolutely wonderful. They'll be happy to talk more more about a piece if I'm curious. And if I end up ordering extra pieces, they will give me recommendations on different flavors or ways to switch it up so I can try it in a new way. The bartenders are also pretty excellent here. I'm not a wine drinker I can't speak to that as much, but they have always been very attentive and informative about the menu (I usually eye the sakes but end up with a cocktail which are yummy). Overall, I strongly recommend this place!

Google
It's such a hidden gem in the area. If there were 6 or even 7 stars I could have given it all. The sushi and sashimi are certainly beyond your ordinary omakase. They are just fresh and delicious. The dessert is also a great touch up. I got an extra snack which is a fried rice/sushi and is purely amazing. I got three different cocktails, one of them is also something I never had before, coffee with whiskey. Definitely recommended.

Absolutely delicious! The quality of the fish was outstanding, and the fusion of flavors—especially with the soy-based sauces—was truly top-notch. Each piece was a perfect balance of taste and texture. The omakase was well-priced for the experience. This spot is definitely going into our regular dining rotation…

Google
Top notch omakase experience. We had truly the best of times. Our hostess was so nice and attentive, and the chef’s creations were out of this world. Fresh fish and perfectly executed sushi overall. Do not sleep on the tiramisu dessert, it’s on point! Will definitely come back!

I had a great experience at Luya Omakase. The fish was incredibly fresh, with each piece prepared and presented beautifully. You can really taste the quality in every bite. The staff were also super friendly and attentive, making the whole evening feel welcoming and relaxed. Definitely a spot worth revisiting for anyone who appreciates good sushi and warm hospitality.

Wow — what a hidden gem! Luya Omakase & Wine Bar completely exceeded my expectations. The bartender, Dylan, is hands-down one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met, and the sushi chef crafts a truly unforgettable experience. Every fish selection was fresh and flavorful, and the wine list is beautifully curated … thoughtful, unique, and perfectly paired. Pictured here is a 10-course omakase for just $50. Honestly, I couldn’t pick a favorite … every bite was a highlight. I’m so excited to come back.

I went to Luya for dinner and had a great experience! The staff were very kind and attentive. The waitress was super sweet and the chef explained all of our courses very thoroughly. My family and I opted out two nigiri due to bad experiences with the seafood and the chef were very accommodating and even offered us trying them at the restaurant to see if we liked it (we did!). The atmosphere was light and comfortable. All of the courses were very fresh and delicious. I appreciate the chef asking if the rice and wasabi amount were to my liking. I also liked that there were appetizer courses, nigiri, hand roll, don bowl, and dessert. The flow of the meal is very thought out. This is one of the best omakase experience I’ve had in the city. Thank you!

Google
Shout out to chef Jordan.. he was truly amazing and served some of the best omakase that I have ever had in a long while. The price is amazing and the staff always do their best to keep our glasses full. I would come back here again. It’s a tiny gem in park slope. It’s a new omakase spot so give them some love. Give them a try.

Yelp
Luya Omakase and Wine Bar is an excellent choice for a first time omakase or if you're seasoned in eating omakase. Located in park slope, I had no issues finding parking. I love that they have a wine bar before you reach the bar seating where the magic happens! With a piece point of sub $100 for their everyday omakase course which is ONLY $89 for 16 course, this is a great steal. You can also opt for their weekend brunch priced at just 10 course $49! The chef was knowledgeable about the fish he served and very friendly. My water was always filled and my ginger as well. Overall, this was an excellent meal and I was so impressed with the quality of fish and service I received.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is cozy and inviting. The staff really makes you feel at home. Service was quick and attentive! The whole omakase experience is so thoughtfully crafted, and every dish offers its own unique flavor. It's truly delightful!

Yelp
Fish was NOT fresh and the rice was over seasoned. Their other good reviews probably was quid-pro-quo such as "give us good reviews and we give you free drinks or 5-10 percent discount" because they did ask us before

Yelp
Just a wonderful, and detailed experience, every course was a new adventure! Very creative menu and a charming staff! We found the food to be fresh, light and perfect for a summer date night! The staff was very knowledgeable and engaging, and made us feel like part of an experience! 10/10 will go here again!

Yelp
What a horrible experience. Fish is horrible. Reviews are clearly bought/fake. Wouldn't recommend if you're a sushi lover

Yelp
High quality fish with creative and delicious dressing. At first I was sad that they pivoted away from BYOB, but their bar is also fantastic. Amazing service. And great prices.

Yelp
I have been to Luya Omakase and Wine Bar twice since it opened a month ago and am about to head back for a third time tonight. The restaurant is still BYOB as it is awaiting its liquor license, so definitely no "quid-quo pro" as one other reviewer said. The fish is high quality, as good as most other omakase in the area, if not better. I personally like the more laid back vibe as the chef's are chill and funny and talk to you through the meal. There is good music playing and the overall vibe is fun. I have taken my kids and friends, alike and we have all enjoyed it as it feels more like a fun and tasty experience than the more austere omakase experiences in the area.

Yelp
Arguably the best Omakase, if not sushi, I've ever had! The fish was high quality, the chefs were friendly, and the flavors were insanely good. 10/10!

Addie K.

Yelp
Luya was by far the best omakase I've had in a long time! The fish were very fresh with unique combinations, and the service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and the amount of courses was almost too much. Would definitely revisit.
