Luya Omakase - Review - Park Slope - New York - The Infatuation

"In Park Slope, Luya Omakase does sub-$100 sushi at a small counter. It’s $88 for 16 courses, with a few appetizers like snow crab wanmono, 10 pieces of nigiri, and donburi and a hand roll at the end. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

Google
Luya is the go to spot for an incredible, high quality, cozy omakase. My favorites were the 3 day aged New Zealand King Salmon, Spanish Lean Tuna with truffle mushroom, and Hokkaido Scallop with foie gras, and Canadian Spotty Prawn. They are doing everything right here— flavors are bursting with fullness and richness. I will be back!!!!!! Thank you We love you - @nyc_omakase

We celebrated a birthday at Luya with the omakase at the chef's counter and had a lovely experience. Our chef took the time to get to know us and to explain the dishes as they came out. The chef's counter was nicely tucked away, allowing for strong ambiance. The sushi itself was fresh and delicious; there was wonderful playfulness with both texture and flavor, and we kept on being surprised at how much was packed in each dish . The team also made a specific effort to do something special for the birthday, which was appreciated. I wholeheartedly recommend Luya for celebrations, and would love to return for their next seasonal menu.

Loved my omakase dinner here. The fish was fresh and the courses were all elevated. High end ingredients and fish and a solid prices point for this area. Love the wine selection, cocktail list and ambience of the wine bar and omakase space

A Hidden Gem in Brooklyn – Freshness, Creativity, and World-Class Wine Luya Omakase and Wine Bar is a true standout — easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Brooklyn. Every bite of the omakase menu bursts with freshness and balance. The fish is immaculate — you can taste the quality and care in every piece — and the chef’s creativity shines through with thoughtful flavor pairings that go well beyond the traditional. Each course feels like a small, artful surprise. What truly sets Luya apart, though, is the wine program. The selection of natural wines is nothing short of incredible — bottles from China, Japan, North Carolina, France, Italy, and beyond — curated with intention and discovery in mind. It’s rare to see such a diverse and adventurous list executed this well. Owner Irvin ties it all together. His passion and deep knowledge of wine elevate the entire experience — he doesn’t just pour; he guides you through each pairing, weaving stories and flavor notes that make every sip more meaningful. Between the pristine ingredients, inventive omakase, and world-spanning natural wine list, Luya is a must-visit for anyone who loves food, wine, and genuine hospitality. An easy 5 stars.

Last minute decided to make a reservation here , I’ve pretty much tried all the omakases in the area and while all are pretty good, I appreciate that LUYA has a cocktail and natural wine menu. Sometimes a girl is just not in the mood for plain sake. For $89, thought the menu was pretty good. Our chef was so engaging and checked on everyone constantly. Very nice interactions

Google
I had the absolute BEST meal here tonight! From the food, to the service, to how nice everyone was, and to how lively the restaurant was, everything was perfect. You got such a variety of courses from sashimi, to nigiri, to a mini don and a hand roll. My favorites were the scallop with foi gras and caviar, the torched Wagyu with uni and foi gras and the king salmon. Again, I couldn’t recommend this spot more!!!!!

LUYA Omakase & Wine Bar is a perfect place to enjoy drinks and omakase. The place itself feels cozy, spotless, and inviting which really sets the mood for the meal. Every dish was made with fresh seasonal ingredients that you could taste the care that went into each bite. Staffs here made me feel so welcome, like I was a regular even on my first visit. They also offer custom cocktails which the bartender offered an omakase-type drink. He mixed up something creative and delicious which tasted one-of-a-kind. The price is fantastic with the quality of food, drinks, and the overall experience. It’s rare to find a spot that delivers this level of quality and warmth without breaking the bank. Come check out LUYA and enjoy a delicious meal!

I had my very first Omakase experience here, and it was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment I walked in, the host made me feel welcome and comfortable. The chef was truly incredible — not only in skill, but in personality. It felt like a personal journey through flavors and textures I had never experienced before. Every bite was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. The balance between traditional techniques and creative touches was perfect. You can tell a lot of thought and passion goes into every single piece. For a first Omakase, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a special, intimate, and delicious dining experience!

Yelp
Luya Omakase & Wine Bar ABSOLUTELY blew me away!! It has quickly solidified a spot on my list of top omakase experiences across New York! Their rotating seasonal menu delivers the freshest fish and brings creativity to each piece in their 15 course omakase. The black cod, scallop, fatty tuna, and wagyu with uni have me scheduling my next reservation as soon as possible! The wine bar could stand on its own as a must-go Brooklyn destination with beautiful, complex natural wines that highlight sustainability and female ownership. You should absolutely take advantage of their unbelievable happy hour from 4:30 - 7pm on weekdays to get the best of their omakase and wine selection! The team of chefs and sommeliers put this meal over the top with their knowledge and friendliness. Luya is truly a cut above the rest and you are missing out if you don't give it a try!

Yelp
Went here on a Wednesday night and it was the best night of the week! We sat at the omakase bar and each bite was truly delicious, the fish was so fresh it just melted in your mouth. The flavors were already unique and interesting but all paired perfectly and the chef, Wei, was super friendly and paced everything perfectly. We also had the wine pairing which was $35 on happy hour (which goes until 7) for 5 pours and the pours were real pours! I was so surprised at both the portion and the quality of the wine, Ervin helped us with the pairing and he asked us what we liked and really tailored the tasting to us which was so amazing! I've never paired wine with omakase outside of just a crisp white and he paired everything perfectly! I would say I know a decent amount about wine and was really blown away by the unique-ness and quality. They also get a lot of female owned vineyards! Def check this place out, it was 100/10.

Yelp
This place is a must to visit each time in Brooklyn. The food is fresh and the service is excellent.

Yelp
Luya Omakase and Wine Bar is an excellent choice for a first time omakase or if you're seasoned in eating omakase. Located in park slope, I had no issues finding parking. I love that they have a wine bar before you reach the bar seating where the magic happens! With a piece point of sub $100 for their everyday omakase course which is ONLY $89 for 16 course, this is a great steal. You can also opt for their weekend brunch priced at just 10 course $49! The chef was knowledgeable about the fish he served and very friendly. My water was always filled and my ginger as well. Overall, this was an excellent meal and I was so impressed with the quality of fish and service I received.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is cozy and inviting. The staff really makes you feel at home. Service was quick and attentive! The whole omakase experience is so thoughtfully crafted, and every dish offers its own unique flavor. It's truly delightful!

Yelp
Fish was NOT fresh and the rice was over seasoned. Their other good reviews probably was quid-pro-quo such as "give us good reviews and we give you free drinks or 5-10 percent discount" because they did ask us before

Yelp
Delicious sushi, without pretense, and at reasonable prices, served by some of the nicest people!!! Definitely recommended!

Yelp
The fish here is fresh and full of flavor. The prices are very fair for the amount of food you get, and the service stands out as well. The staff were kind, attentive, and made the whole experience feel welcoming.

Yelp
I went to Luya for dinner and had a great experience! The staff were very kind and attentive. The waitress was super sweet and the chef explained all of our courses very thoroughly. My family and I opted out two nigiri due to bad experiences with the seafood and the chef were very accommodating and even offered us trying them at the restaurant to see if we liked it (we did!). The atmosphere was light and comfortable. All of the courses were very fresh and delicious. I appreciate the chef asking if the rice and wasabi amount were to my liking. I also liked that there were appetizer courses, nigiri, hand roll, don bowl, and dessert. The flow of the meal is very thought out. This is one of the best omakase experience I've had in the city. Thank you!

Yelp
Just finished eating and I feel obligated to write this review. First off, I just have to say, the food was DELICIOUS! The chef did an amazing job! There were pieces I had today that I never had before. The staff was WONDERFUL! They were sweet and friendly. I would definitely come back. If you decide to come and try this place, you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Just a wonderful, and detailed experience, every course was a new adventure! Very creative menu and a charming staff! We found the food to be fresh, light and perfect for a summer date night! The staff was very knowledgeable and engaging, and made us feel like part of an experience! 10/10 will go here again!

Yelp
What a horrible experience. Fish is horrible. Reviews are clearly bought/fake. Wouldn't recommend if you're a sushi lover

Yelp
I have been to Luya Omakase and Wine Bar twice since it opened a month ago and am about to head back for a third time tonight. The restaurant is still BYOB as it is awaiting its liquor license, so definitely no "quid-quo pro" as one other reviewer said. The fish is high quality, as good as most other omakase in the area, if not better. I personally like the more laid back vibe as the chef's are chill and funny and talk to you through the meal. There is good music playing and the overall vibe is fun. I have taken my kids and friends, alike and we have all enjoyed it as it feels more like a fun and tasty experience than the more austere omakase experiences in the area.

Yelp
Arguably the best Omakase, if not sushi, I've ever had! The fish was high quality, the chefs were friendly, and the flavors were insanely good. 10/10!

Rebecca D.

Yelp
High quality fish with creative and delicious dressing. At first I was sad that they pivoted away from BYOB, but their bar is also fantastic. Amazing service. And great prices.

Addie K.

Yelp
Luya was by far the best omakase I've had in a long time! The fish were very fresh with unique combinations, and the service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and the amount of courses was almost too much. Would definitely revisit.
