LV Mar - Review - Redwood City - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"If you manage to sneak out of work early, celebrate with Latin tapas and cocktails at LV Mar. Order an array of small plates, like the just-spicy-enough chicken and chorizo empanadas, or the juicy quesabirria. Happy hour runs daily from 3-5pm and is a steal, with $10 cocktails, $5 beers, and $5 tacos served on housemade tortillas—our favorites are the savory huitlacoche and the crispy shrimp. And their drinks are just as solid as their food menu: the amante secreto, which blends refreshing blackberry and mint-infused vodka with pleasantly bitter amaro and cloud-like egg whites, is the perfect balance of refreshing and intense." - Gabi Moskowitz

Came here for a spontaneous weekend dinner while hanging out in down Redwood City. We were seated quickly. Sitting outside on the walking only street was nice. Unfortunately the food really under impressed. The ceviche we had was actually pretty good with fresh seafood and a good sauce, but the filet mignon dish was swimming in a gross oil, and the carne asada tacos were criminally bland. Disappointed for a resto that had so many good reviews, hopefully it was just an off day for the cooks.

Google
Great place serving Mexican fusion tapas in Redwood City downtown. They have a lot of vegetarian options on the menu- the patatas con calabacin and flautas are delicious! The only plate that missed the mark was the potato dumplings - they were a bit chewy and lacked flavor. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal!

Google
Delicious tapas dishes although a little on the expensive side. The outdoor seating was nice and we had reservations although they were taking walkins on Sunday right around lunch time. Love their free bread basket (taro, plantain, tortilla) chips with salsa. Tacos were tasty although on the smaller side. The lomo saltado (skirt steak) and grilled king salmon were both delicious.

Google
Place closes at 9pm on a weeekday. Good for small groups and you’d like to order food to share. We mostly ordered open faced tacos. Serves alcohol. Was just a bit uncomfortable when 9pm approached and servers started putting chairs up the tables as if they were closing. So that was our cue to leave.

Google
Had brunch here and the French toast was the best French toast I’ve ever had! The other brunch dishes were good but kind of smaller than expected. Sometimes service was a little bit busy with other tables but I can’t blame them during these difficult times with the labor market. We’ve also been here for tapas and the quesabirria is amazing too.

Google
I love LV Mar. We’ve been coming here for years and the quality and food have continued to impress. Excellent food, best value on the peninsula for tacos, cocktails and a casual but elevated atmosphere. Kid friendly but nice enough for a special occasion. My favorites are the octopus and chorizo tacos, the house salad and the rice and shrimp. Awesome cocktails and a delightful atmosphere inside or outside. Excellent reliable for a night out or casual lunch. Gluten free options!

Google
Excellent food! The best tacos I have had. The tortillas were brown ones with perfect mix of spice. They have a very good vegetarian menu! The potato dumplings was beyond our expectations! Loved the place.

Google
The food was absolutely stunning visually and gustably. The cocktails were great too, but the food is the outstanding part. Highly recommended!! Sitting outside at dusk was perfect, and they have heaters. To us, the portion was perfect, so don't expect to be painfully full from here. Quality much over quantity! Both the duck and scallop were cooked perfectly, they were not under or over cooked at all.

Yelp
Came here for HH today and let me tell you it was a VIBE!! They have patio seating that is nothing sort of spectacular during the nice weather! I sat at the bar and VITO was an amazing bartender. He held it down! Under staffed but handed it with ease! Had the house marg and it was delicious. Also got the Cubana and it was spectacular! $10 drinks and ~$10 for plates great deal. Stayed to watch the warriors game which was cool Definitely a must have in the area

Yelp
If you're looking for Mexican food, look elsewhere. When we asked for chips and salsa, what we received was the dredges of old chips, old plantains, and old crisps of some kind I could not identify. They were all poorly done and OLD. We received a trio of sauces, none of which were what most folks would think of as salsa. I understand that technically "salsa" just means sauce, but none the three pureed sauces we received were anywhere close to a typical Mexican restaurant salsa. Two were orange and unpleasant, but the green one at least had a kick to it. I also ordered guacamole, hoping for something edible. What arrived was a plate covered in raw radishes, pumpkin seeds, and other seemingly random garnishes hiding what turned out to be incredibly bland guacamole. It was salty. That was about it. I left hungry for actual Mexican food.

Yelp
The service is amazing- they keep checking up on you and filling your water glasses and giving you extra spicy sauce - the best! 5/5 for service The food is 4/5 - we ordered the ceviche and the chips and salsa - very unique sauces - all very different and yum! The ambience is awesome - they are getting ready for cinco de mayo - great decor. The cocktails are ok - 3/5 - the description were better than the taste. Great place to try some great tapas!

Yelp
I always enjoy dining here--the experience is consistently good. They offer a solid kids' menu, great cocktails, and the scallop taco is my personal favorite. Making reservations is simple, and the location in the lively part of Redwood City makes it even better.

Yelp
We've been here many times. Once to celebrate my daughters B-Day in their private room, many other times for lunch, dinner and their after hours live Dj events. Their Mexican and Latin inspired tapas and cocktails are delicious. They provide a great service making sure you are satisfied with your food. My wife had ordered an empanada which she thought was to fishy, which I ate, and after mentioning it to the waiter, he was quick to replace it with another tapa of our choice without charging us. The weekend nights are filled with fun, energetic latin music beats brought on by the guest Dj. We will keep on coming back!
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Such a great and lively place! Came in for apps and drinks that were yummy, before we knew it the DJ was out turning the space up. The staff was amazing. Looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Returned today for happy hour again...compliments to our excellent server Rayner today!

Yelp
I always have a good dining experience here. There's a nice kids' menu, delicious cocktails, and I'm a huge fan of the scallop taco. Easy to make reservations and located in a very vibrant part of Redwood City!

Yelp
We dropped by on the weekend (Saturday) to try out the happy hour. The service was good. The taste of the food was good as well. The price was on the higher end for my taste. There wasn't really anyone in the restaurant @ the time we were there so it was pretty peaceful and relaxing. We ordered nachos, some tacos and one mojito. We didn't add any meat to the nachos since I was feeling cheap and didn't want to pay extra. The quantity of food also wasn't too much. I would have wished the plate of nachos was bigger. But I guess maybe this will help me lose weight. Haha. The I enjoyed the shrimp taco more than the fish taco. Although the fish was really soft. :) The bill came out to about $19 a person, which I think is pretty pricey just for snacks. Or maybe I just didn't order the right stuff. Anyway, I do think this place is worth going to @ least once. But it probably won't be in my rotation because of high cost per bite.
google avatar

Vince N.

Yelp
It was a good experience eating here as a party of 8 on a Friday night. The service was sufficient, getting our orders, receiving our dishes & drinks in a timely manner. The food was appetizing, we loved most of the foods, the shareable ceviches, and flautas, there wasn't really a miss. I would say though, that pricing is a little higher for some dishes versus the ratio of food you receive, but otherwise it's a great time.
google avatar

Camille E.

Yelp
Plenty of outdoor seating (on the part of broadway that is closed for pedestrian use only), and heat lamps as well! We just got some small bites and a drink, and were pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes.

Yelp
Took Mom here for Mother's Day and boy was it worth the drive out to the Peninsula. The wings, shrimp and scallop were delicious and the Sangria hit the spot. Mom and Dad loved the food and the decorative ambience. Our server was very attentive to our table and also recommended some of her favorites on the menu as well.

Yelp
I had last dined at LV Mar 3 years ago and really enjoyed the food (vegetarian). However, I was quite disappointed by it at my recent visit. GUACAMOLÉ CON PEPITAS - 2/5 The guacamole was below average. FRITURAS MIXTAS - 3/5 We loved this so much last time that we ordered it twice. This time, though, the sauces were not as great anymore. ENSALADA DE LECHUGA Y ELOTE - 5/5 This was really good. CAZUELA DE CHOCOYOTES - 5/5 This was good as well. PATATAS CON CALABAĆIN - 4/5 This was ok. Overall, the food was definitely not worth the price point.

Yelp
It's super cute and definitely a vibe inside but I didn't love it. We tried 3 dishes and the flavors were not meshing well with me. They were definitely flavorful but I knew I wasn't super into them. They have a cute bar area on the side. Parking in the lot down the ways or street parking further down. Service was decent. Nothing spectacular. I think it would be nice to stop by for a cocktail at night one day. Not sure if I would want to go for the food though. Would try it again for the cocktails and dessert.

Yelp
We went back for the Memorial Day weekend. It was a beautiful sunny day. The trees and umbrellas make the outdoor space perfectly enjoyable with right amount of sunshine. Enough space for our dog babies that's always a big bonus. Every time they have a few new things on the menu. And they never disappoint. Service is excellent as always. Will come back soon.

Yelp
Came here for a political fundraiser. Loved the food. The staff was great. Loved the outdoor seating. Highly recommend. Very close to Caltrain. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Man, let me tell you about this food. OMG!! DA BOMB. I didn't think it would be enough food for 24 folks, but it was more than enough with leftovers. The Patatas and Torta Cubana or whatever the sandwich was, it was freaking amazing. And that Lomo salteado, i will be back just for that. That S%#@ was fire, the freaking bomb. I could go on about each dish, but really, I can't complain about any of it. Each time I go into the office, that's where I will be before I go home. Our server was patient and so kind whilst serving 24 crazy folks. Nicolas accommodated our seating arrangements as 12 were inside and the other outside, and he managed to get us all outside together. Thanks, Nicolas. The restaurant was cool, but it was a beautiful day, so we wanted to all be outside. Will I come back? Absolutely, as mentioned above, for sure, for several items from the menu, it will have me going back. If you are in the area, I suggest you stop by.

Yelp
This place had such great and flavorful food! We had a big party, half of them were children. It's a little dark in the restaurant but I assume that's the ambiance they're going for inside. Our servers were quick to take our order and whenever we had miscellaneous tasks. They got the kids food out first which was great. My son also almost finished his mac and cheese! The quesabirria tacos were very tasty and the consome on the side complimented the tacos well. Despite the numerous Mexican restaurants in Redwood Ciry, this place is worthy of returning to!

Yelp
Perfect lunch spot with outdoor seating. Service was so wonderful and attentive. I tried their ceviche and it was actually filling for me! I thought it looked like a small serving but it was just right. Their drinks were also strong but really good. I think we just got the mojito

Yelp
Date: Saturday, October 14th, 2023 Time: around 4:30pm What: Happy Hour before dinner Party of: 3 HAPPY HOUR Everyday 3pm - 5pm *All Cocteles Clasicos ($10) - Margarita - Mojito - Paloma - Sangria *PAPAS BIRRIAS ($10) - french fries, braised beef, melted cheese, onions & cilantro, salsa roja *CEVICHE DE ATÚN ($12) - diced ahi tuna, avocado, cucumber, corn, chipotle cream, corn tortilla chips I met up a few friends for HH before going to a bday dinner nearby. Since it was HH, we decided to try all their cocktails. They were pretty good at $10 a pop. Nice for sipping while catching up with some old friends. I did not try any of the food, so I cannot comment on that, but they were fairly priced and a decent size. Service was great! It wasn't very busy when we arrived, so we easily grabbed three seats at the bar. The bartender was sweet and attentive. We never had any trouble trying to order a drink. Great HH spot. I'd love to come back and actually try their HH food.

Yelp
This place sucks! I was in the area for business travel and looked it up this place as it had good reviews and it did severely disappoint. 1. Service was the worst, the servers didn't even try to provide a good experience. Very arrogant 2. 90% of the items on the menu were spicy and I had to ask a few times if they could make it non-spicy. 3. It's severely overpriced. I had 2 drinks and one 1 hot entree = $68! 4. Buyer beware, when paying the bill, the minimum tip suggestion starts at 23% 5. Ambiance looked okay but when I walked in, it was almost empty. Red flag

Yelp
The foods are great but the prices are high. The ambience is nice with good services.

Yelp
LV Mar Tapas & Cocktails is the sister restaurant to La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana in Redwood City. A place I thoroughly enjoyed! Da wahine had some sort of voucher that was expiring soon, so we figured we would use it before it expires. The voucher was one of those mystery envelopes that you had to open at the restaurant and gave you a complementary surprise. Ours was a free drink...Cheers! #Adulting ~ Mezcal Verde Espadin - 4/5 A very refreshing Margarita made with Mezcal. Reminded me of those lovely craft drinks in Cabo...brilliant! #Dinner: ~ CEVICHE MIXTO - 4/5 At first bite this didn't taste like a traditional Ceviche. It had pieces of fruit it in it; sweet oranges to be precise! We thought the dish was odd. Then we started eating it with the fried plantains that surrounded the Ceviche...bingo! The flavor infusion worked perfectly! There was a reason the Plantains accompanied the Ceviche...duh! In the end it all works well. ~ QUESABIRRIA - 4/5 I liked the presentation. At first it didn't look like much, but the Quesabirria was packed with a decent amount of meat. Tasty and heartier than it looked ~ COSTILLAS DE CERDO EN COLORADITO - 4/5 They had me at pork ribs... it just sounded tasty when I read the description on the menu; "pork ribs braised in red tomato & achiote sauce, potatoes, chayotes, tomatillo. served with blue corn tortillas." I'm still not sure what "achiote sauce" is... All I can say is Tasty Red Sauce with tender pieces of meat and potatoes = deliciousness!! We made tacos with the Blue Corn Tortillas. A very satisfying meal!

Yelp
We went here for team outing during evening happy hour and had early dinner. Food was excellent. The options were plenty. Every one enjoyed the food. Execellent service. The place was clean and well kept. Prices are reasonable for the portions served. Desserts were awesome too. We had, Tres Leches, Flan De Coco

Yelp
Torta Cubana 3 standard sandwich, smoked ham, cheese, pickle, bread not hard Patatas Con Jamon 3 potato croquette, can't taste smoked ham, orange almond sauce, crunchy, not flavorful Jambalaya 4 rice, 2 large prawns, octopus, chicken, chorizo, tomato chile sauce, mild spicy, flavorful

Yelp
Tasty, very overpriced food. Felt like a typical tapas place that ramped the price up in an attempt to become a fancy date spot without hitting that mark. The food was definitely good but I can't really justify this price with the kind of stressful ambiance. Waitstaff will grab at anything on your table all meal to bus it away. It was far too aggressive and frequently interrupted the expensive meal. They even began to take a partially full glass of wine from my date. Large ugly tv playing sports in the main room. Good outdoor seating ruined by the bar across the street blasting My Pony and other high school drunk anthems.
google avatar

Teresa G.

Yelp
We had planned an early dinner here and made reservations. There are several public parking structures all within walking distance. There is outdoor seating but we thought the live music was going to drown our conversation, so we opted to sit indoors. It was a warm afternoon and indoors was actually airy and pleasant. The menu has much to offer, it was hard to make up our minds. Our server was very helpful and we were really pleased with his recommendations. The Empanadas de Pollo y Chorizo were deliciously filled with chicken, chorizo, potatoes, cheese, and spices and topped with pico de gallo and queso fresco. We were glad our waiter convinced us to try the Chicharron con Pataton. It is a generous serving of crispy pork belly on top of fried plantain tortilla with guacamole and onion salad. Their Pescado Frito Tacos were also very good. The white fish fillet is beer-battered and fried to perfection. It goes very well with the pico de gallo, cabbage, chipotle cream sauce, and a squeeze of fresh lime. All these went very well with the complimentary tortilla chips and the Guacamole con Pepitas. A perfect ending to this sumptious dinner was their Tres Leches sponge cake (must have been in a different realm by this time as I forgot to snap a photo). This came with caramelized walnuts, plantain, chocolate drizzle and the menu says mezcal as well. Freshly brewed coffee went very well with this sweet indulgence.

Jazmine V.

Yelp
My group and I were here for pre-dinner drinks only. We arrived here on a Monday close to 5p. It wasn't busy yet, and we were seated right away at the patio area. The patio seating is nice and cozy from the heat lamps. They have a bar code to scan for the full menu at the table. All the workers were very nice and accommodating throughout. Happy Hour is between 3-5p every day. So 2/3 drinks counted as the happy hour price. Drinks order * Mejores Tiempos 5/5 * Paloma 5/5 * Sangria 5/5 The presentation for all three were so esthetically pleasing, I love the dried orange slice. We may come back for pre-dinner drinks again.

Yelp
They have a great happy hr here and lively entertainment at night. It feels like a trendy vibe . I love it here. The drinks and tapas are excellent.

Yelp
This was such a great find! My friends and I came here for a last minute dinner and we honestly loved everything we had. We ordered ceviche and empanadas to share. I ordered the seafood large dish and my boyfriend ordered the steak dish. Everything was really tasty and well portioned. We left feeling full and satisfied

Yelp
Consistently yummy, fresh food here! They've got one of the best value happy hours in the area.

Yelp
This is the most slept on restaurant in Redwood City, I've been walking past it for the past couple years not knowing I was missing out of the most amazing food. I saw the chilaquiles and had to get them, probably the best ones I have have in the Bay. The salsa is delicious, and the chips have the perfect amount of crunch. My friends loved everything they ordered as well. It was beautifully plated too. I got a Camiseta Mojada (mojito + watermelon and coconut) and it did not disappoint. The service was great and I loved the music. There was no wait on a Saturday at 1pm and quite a few empty tables.
google avatar

Rheanna C.

Yelp
Under seasoned & underwhelming. The Medianoche cocktail & oysters were good. I wish I'd stopped there & moved on to a different place. The empanadas were soooo dry & tasteless. The sauce did nothing to help. The ceviche mixto was also tasteless except for overly sweet notes from the plantain & orange. I had to ask for salt & lime. The habanero was nonexistent. We then did a mix of tacos. The pulpo y chorizo was my favorite, but I did salt it before trying it. The pancita de puerca (pork belly) was tasty & spicy, but I'd ordered it well done so it was crispy & ate it without the tortilla (which was too dry & thick). If I'd eaten it without modifying it, I don't think I'd be as happy. The carne asada tacos were my least favorite. Dry, chewy & sad. The service was good. I've been here a few times years ago & the food was better before. I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Order: Guacamole con Pepitas, Ceviche Mixto, La Botana, 3 Tacos: Huitlacoche, Mahi, Camaron Review: Absolute 10/10s are Ceviche Mixto - fresh chipotle flavor and variety of seafood pairs perfectly with the plantain chip, La Botana - beautiful way to have bites of different items and the flauta was BOMB, and Taco de Huitlacoche - flavor and texture explosion and I love when non-meat focused tacos shine Other comments: 1. Parking: a lot of parking in the lot/street 2. Facilities: love the line of restaurants offering patio service which makes for a great relaxing communal atmosphere 3. Recommendation: definitely recommend for good food, drinks, and patio vibes

Yelp
If there's one thing in this world I love it's a good chili relleno and LV Mar probably has the best I've ever tried. Let's talk about the overall restaurant before I blow your mind with the food details. The restaurant is located on the busy main street in Redwood City. The street is closed to cars which makes for awesome street dining. They have fire pits and cozy tables where you can watch humans and dogs meander down the busy street day and night. The servers are all nice and really know the menu. My first trip there I didn't know what to get and the server recommended a few items that were delicious. The inside is perfect for a rainy day and there's enough space inside or out for large and small groups to be comfortable. Okay, now back to that chili relleno. It's not your typical chili relleno, but more of a culinary masterpiece, one that will set your tastebuds into a frenzy with its masterful combination of lovely flavors. They take a large chili and stuff it with cheese and meat, add a sprinkling of pomegranate seeds and a drizzle of pomegranate jelly to made something that can be described as heaven. Delectable! Pair that with their chips and salsa - and I'm not taking tortilla chips and Pace picante sauce here. Their chips and salsa is to die for! Three kinds of chips and two kinds of salsa make the experience unique. I'm not going to ruin it by giving too much away, but trust me on this one and get an order. Another of my favorite dishes are the potato stacks with fried cauliflower. Whoever created their menu was a culinary genius and I thank them by coming back often. In fact, after writing this review, another visit is coming today!!

Yelp
The food was good, no complaints there. However, the service was quite disappointing. When my party and I finished eating, we explicitly asked for a box for our leftovers. The waiter, who clearly didn't understand English, stared blankly before proceeding to clean the table, even after we repeated our request. Assuming he was packing our food, we let it go--only to later find out our leftovers had been thrown away. When the staff tried to make it up to us, they offered just a few small pieces of chicken--far from equivalent to the steak, chicken, and sausage we had left. No chimichurri sauce, barely any marinade. It felt like an empty gesture rather than proper compensation. I'd advise management to ensure their staff can communicate effectively with customers to avoid situations like this in the future.

Lorrie M.

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for only ever, so I'm really glad I was able to come here and try it out recently with a friend. We were able to sit outside because of the incredible weather that day, and enjoyed our food and drinks under the shaded trees in the road on a hot fall day. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. I don't have much context or history of the place, seems like many people love La Viga, but I thought the flavors were on point, our apps were delicious as was the guac, and overall I'd definitely come back!
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Great food and mezcal drinks. If you have an "itch" for tapas LV mar will deliver. Service is really good not sure about the ambience inside since we've always stayed outside.

Yelp
I came here with some friends for drinks around 5pm on a Friday, and we had a reservation, but it was actually fairly empty. Cocktails: I like that the De La Casa section has a focus on Mexican ingredients - La Chinlinandrina: mezcal based with a serrano infused tequila, lemon juice, ancho chili salt - not too sweet and with a good kick - my favorite of the drinks - El Chavo: huitlacoche infused mezcal verde, nixta, ancho reyes, lemon. I know huitlacoche can be polarizing, but I like it and thought it was a more unique option - Tun Tun: like a Mexican tiki drink - rum, amaretto, alchemist, pineapple tepache - a bit sweet for me, though With our drinks, we got a few things to share: - Guacamole: with added texture from pepitas - Ceviche mixto: a mix of octopus, thinly sliced scallop, halibut, oranges, and plantain chips - the seafood was fresh, and it was good on a hot day - Cazuela de chocoyotes: purple potato dumplings, lots of veggies (zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes), cotija, and a chile de arbol sauce. Definitely eat this while warm. It's a good vegetarian option. Our server was great and checked in quite a few times. I'm surprised it wasn't busier on a Friday night, but we were there on the earlier side. Don't forget - parking meters run until 8pm in the public lots nearby!

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of this place! I generally love a tapas style restaurant and my cousins and I loved sharing so many different plates. I'm reviewing this several months after going, so I'm not including too many details, but I remember that the seafood was fresh and had good flavor and the drinks were quite inventive and delicious. Will certainly go back next time I'm in Redwood City and will leave another, more detailed and timely, review :)

Yelp
Loved happy hour food offerings and the delicious EL CARAJILLO espresso cocktail. Service was outstanding - waiter was funny, quick, and accommodating. Ambience is perfect with the big doors that open out to broadway

Yelp
Came by for lunch the other day and it was a tasty experience. Made a reservation via OpenTable and we were the only diners upon arrival right when they opened during the weekend. Parking is available on the street or in city-owned garages a couple blocks away. Broadway is now closed to vehicles and there is outdoor seating along with indoor dining. Menu was tricky to navigate via the QR code. There is free Wifi. Started off with the guacamole with chips and added on the smoked salmon and caviar. The chips were decent although chips were even fresher on previous visits. The smoked salmon seemed to have been store bought along with the caviar. Moved on to the salmon croquettes and it looked fantastic although upon close examination, it was more pedestrian. There was a fried potato croquette topped with a small piece of salmon. The steak quesadilla was different on this visit with the steak requested and came out medium rare that was placed on top of the quesadilla that was filled with beans and cheese. Service by the staff was cordial and prompt. Payment was made with the server on the staff's tablet which was quick and easy. ~$35/head after tax and gratuity for lunch with a labor surcharge.

Yelp
Dinner and drinks on a Friday evening for a mini girl's night out- this place checked off on deliciousness, relaxed atmosphere, & friendly service. We arrived 15 min prior to our reservation and they seated us right away although our entire party was not present. That was really nice considering it was freezing outside. The waiter was really helpful in his recommendations. None of us had been here before and the menu did have a lot of options so definitely appreciated the suggestions. My favorites: quesabirra, oysters, ceviche and surprisingly the chille Relleno took the best dish. The Chille Relleno had a nice kick and then the cheese sauce with pomegranate bits just added another level. Ceviche was really light and refreshing. I'm used to shrimp ceviche but this one had mixed of other seafood (scallops, fish) combined with the plantain chips really transformed this typical appetizer to something really unique. I now want to use plantain chips in lieu of regular chips. Jambalaya was really good too - we got 2 very good size and tasty prawns. As with tapas, serving size is smaller so we made it work for a party of 5 but it's more for a single serving or 2 max. The drinks were on point. Friends mentioned margarita was really tasty and the rimmed salt mixture was really good. At night it gets really packed and they have live music but looked like a lot of fun.

Yelp
Came here yesterday for dinner! I saw great reviews so I was expecting better food but wasn't a huge fan. The service and ambiance was great, hence the three stars. I ordered the chips and guacamole, that was great! You can't go wrong with chips and guacamole they added sunflower seeds on top which were delicious. I also ordered the steak and scallop tacos. I saw that the scallop tacos were in the popular dishes so was expecting more- wasn't a huge fan of either. I would rate the tacos 3/5 The croquettes were really good! The sauce it came with was a bit spicy but overall a solid 5/5!

Yelp
Not the best service and some of the food was just alright. Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 2.5/5** While everyone was friendly, we had a reservation for 5 and didn't have 5 sets of plates/utensils. The same thing happened to our waters. One of our group members also didn't get her food until ~20 minutes or more after everyone else. They were also out of salmon so they substituted it with shrimp. **Decor & cleanliness, 4/5** The patio is mostly shaded (one of our group members was fully in the sun) and the decor is pretty cute. **Price & portion, 3/5** Price seems steep because most items didn't blow us away. **Presentation of the food, 5/5** Beautiful! Super colorful with many components that seem well thought out (except the dry ice situation -- is that edible? It shouldn't be on the plate if it isn't). **Taste of the food, 3.5/5** - Ceviche, 5/5: Served with plantain chips, this was really well balanced and brimming with tender seafood! An excellent dish. - Mero Mero lunch special, 2.5/5: The brussel sprouts had good flavor but the texture didn't seem totally right -- I think they could've been cooked a little longer. The salad was very refreshing but was overpowered by the lime so I couldn't taste much of the individual components (cucumber, orange, shrimp which was supposed to be salmon, avocado, and pickled onion). I also couldn't finish the birria quesadilla because the cheese inside was super thick and congealed and overpowered everything else. I did appreciate the variety though -- it was cool to be able to taste a big assortment of their dishes. - Guacamole, 2.5/5: Lacked flavor and was pretty one-note. Folks in my group even asked for salt to season it. - Quesadilla with shrimp, 5/5: The shrimp were really big and well cooked! Also a beautiful plate. - Tres Leches cake, 5/5: Delicious! So much flavor, great texture, and not overly sweet. - Flan, 2.5/5: Deep coffee flavor and the cream was really tasty, but the texture was off putting. Instead of smooth, it was kind of thick and spongy? Weird.

Yelp
Celebrating a work occasion and still impressed by their amazing cocktails and tapas. The ceviche and plantain chips are delicious and peach salad mouth watering. On a warm august evening we enjoyed a table by the open window with festive music playing throughout the outdoor patio scene. I've been a fan of LV Mar since it opened and still a fan. Same incredible Chef Manuel Martinez. He is always innovating in the kitchen. Luv LV mar

Yelp
Fish Tacos are to die for, fried and non-fried. Very nice ambience, also great for take out. Cocktails are great and nice setting in the heart of Redwood city.

Yelp
I came to LV Mar for a work dinner way back in May, and I was pretty excited based on the Yelp reviews. We ordered items to share: - GUACAMOLÉ CON PEPITAS (ripe avocados, chile serrano, onions, cilantro, toasted pepitas, cucumber, tortilla chips) - ENSALADA DE LECHUGA Y ELOTE (organic butter lettuce, corn, cotija cheese, chile ancho dust, serrano chile vinaigrette) - CEVICHE MIXTO (lime cured octopus, scallops, mixto halibut, orange, red onion, habanero chile, sweet plantain) - ATUN CON PERA (fresh ahi tuna, pear, avocado, crispy plantain, chimichurri sauce) - PESCADO FRITO TACO (beer-battered white fish fillet, pico de gallo, cabbage, chipotle cream sauce, lime) - CARNE ASADA TACO (grilled sliced steak, salsa roja, nopal & black beans pico de gallo, cotija cheese) And to drink, I had a ginger lemonade. It's been a few months since I ate this dinner, and I don't remember anything being amazingly good. But even months later, I do remember a few things being bad: - The ahi and pear combo was awful - The ginger overpowered the lemonade - The menus were only via QR code (no physical menus), and most of us didn't have any reception in the back room Luckily there are other interesting restaurants in the area, so this gives me an excuse to try them!

Yelp
Service here is great. I appreciate the number of times they had to move the umbrella to block the sun for me. There is also indoor seating but outside was pretty nice. It's a vibe. We ordered almost everything on the St. Patrick's Day special menu which consist of corned beef tacos & corned beef sandwiches. They also had 3 different Jameson cocktail drinks. Other than that menu, the original menu had a lot of good unique selections too. The chips & dip we ordered had 3 different kinds of chips - taro, plantain & tortilla. All were delicious with the dips provided. Definitely come here to chill & eat & then at night, this restaurant turns into a nightclub. Make sure to a check what days those are. It's definitely a fun restaurant.
