Twin Cities’ Restaurant and Bar Closures to Know, November 2025 | Eater Twin Cities

"Residents of Inver Grove Heights will have to look elsewhere for schnitzel, bratwurst, and sauerbraten, as this longstanding German restaurant has closed after more than four decades; ownership revealed on social media that they were selling the business, while locations in Hastings, Oakdale, and Red Wing remain open." - Jeffy Mai

I Have been going to this place for over 20 years. Sadley to say not anymore. I usually would go for the people and atmosphere. But that has all changed thanks to the owners. They have raised their prices so high that it's not affordable to bring your family here anymore. Their food isn't that great. They used to have great food. But think they buy all their food out of bags I can get on Amazon. Least that's what it tastes like now. I don't blame the cooks. I blame the poor ownership. They got rid of all their good staff. Now they have inexperienced bartenders that struggle to make common drinks. Go in there on a Friday night during what should be happy hour and it looks like a ghost town. You use to not be able to find a seat at the bar. Oh my have times changed. Go there any night of the week and it's dead now. The only time seems to be busy is when their raffles are going on. No one wants to hang out there anymore. It's a shame used to be a fun place to hang out. Well I guess when it's poorly owned and all they care about is the money in their pocket and not the quality anymore. Save your money there are better places to hang out at. Atmosphere sucks now.

Renee is the only waitress I trust and Alex is the only bartender I trust. There's one older guy in the kitchen that does a phenomenal job as well. Otherwise, in the short 3 years I've been frequenting this place, I have enjoyed every moment until about approximately 3 months ago. It's my understanding that its under new ownership or management or something? But the atmosphere is horrible. It's dead ALL THE TIME now. Even raffle days are so bare that they can't run the horse races because there aren't enough people to get it rolling. One of the biggest things that kept me coming back initially was that they have Truly on tap (which isn't easy to find) and now they're $8 which is truly (pun intended) insane considering they used to be $6. This price change is especially confusing because they're not providing anything extra to justify the price hike. As just an aside, the kettle chips are just Lay's.. I'm just wildly disappointed in everything it has become and I'm disheartened to think about having to find a new place that I liked this much.

For many years we enjoyed dining here. Lately the prices have gone way up while the food quality went way down. We won’t be back.

Second time coming to this location! Always great environment, people laughing and enjoying themselves. All the staff was great! Food was awesome, we didn’t know it was $10 Burger 🍔 night! Any burger, anything on it, for $10. We also got a few free tickets for a raffle they were having for the Vikings 🏈 game. It was slightly chilly, but its better than being hot :)

Food used to be good and prices too .. the last time I went I order a hamburger but seems like they change for a cheaper buns ( what I dislike). Also they need more waiters some times they had just one. I recommend wings (buffalo or habanero sauce ) and my bf used to order a steak it was really good.

Tried this place for the first time. For the last 15 years I ha e heard mixed reviews. I had the original brat . It was a polish sausage not an actual brat and my bread was so soggy I had to exchange it for a hotdogs bun when I got home.

Thought the food was fairly good for the price. Really liked the schnitzel with gravy and pretzel.

Was there yesterday. The German food was not even close to German food. Had the schnitzel with hunters sauce. I spent 10 years in Germany, the germans wouldn't eat that. Spent the nite with gut cramps. I don't recommend it.
