"Lined in lush blue velvet, stepping into Lydia Courteille feels a bit like stepping into a music box. It’s a fittingly dream-like backdrop for her handcrafted pieces which take a deep bow to fantasy. Fire opals are set in the maws of lizards, and diamond fireflies sit on carved coral flowers: All of her jewelry is stunningly unusual."

This artist, in my opinion, is the finest jewelry designer alive today. Her work is whimsical, fantastic, colorful and extremely unique. I have longed to own one of her creations for a decade, but she is out of my price range . Visit her shop when you are in Paris. Take the time to study the details of her designs, the quality of the beautiful jewels she uses to give voice to her imagination. - I mean really, the work is out of this world. The tiny shop is daunting, and she is a bit cool. Persevere and take the time to purchase one of these collectables. And if you can afford a big one, go for it. It is so much more meaningful than a diamond from Tiffany’s. However, One disturbing item I must mention. when I asked the artist about getting more ivory for a design she was working on she said... there are always ways. That was discouraging enough for me to never buy from her. There is a reason we don’t buy ivory from anyone ever.

Yelp
In my quest to find a unique Parisian antique bauble, I had read an article that Rue St Honore was a good street to seek out & Lydia Courteille was a great source for antiques We found huge statement pieces with lots of animal motifs. Not many antiques these days as the main focus is on her original creations but they are gorgeous & this shop is well worth a visit I saw a particularly whimsical bunny ring - lots of bunnies encircling a huge pink tourmaline. The bunnies were made with pink sapphires & white & yellow diamonds Prices make as much of a huge statement they these lovely pieces do - if you have the Euro & are into unique whimsy, this is a wonderful stop
